Bruh. The prices were just right. You pay for a filling, delicious meal. My boyfriend and I shared our meals (I had the chicken and donuts and he has the panko fish sandwich) and I have never been so impressed. The chicken was so soft and had such a good flavor! Our first visit to Civil Kitchen before a concert at the Gilloiz and it was so good! At first the hostess told us it would be a 30 minute wait. Thought we'd have to leave but she then said we could set at the bar. So glad we did! I had the pork belly tacos and husband had the ginormous fish sandwich! Huge portions! This was my first visit to civil kitchen. Please note there are two entrances, LOL. The atmosphere was very cool! They had a fun variety of drafts and interesting sauces! One of my friends had jalapeño gravy with their pork cutlet, and another had peanut butter maple syrup with the chicken and waffles. We were told that chicken and waffles is their signature dish... So five of the six of us had that. It was quite delicious. It came with three decent sized chicken strips and a mostly crispy waffle. I think I was the only one that had a mostly crispy one. The seasoning on the chicken was well done and it was very crispy! I look forward to trying more meals at this location. read more

I did not enjoy my food, but I enjoyed the effort. After my 3rd visit I'm done, not to return. Tag Line: This place should change its name to 'Salt Palace'. The food menu recipe combinations are great, the menu is cool and such a great idea. But that's about where it ends. As fusion restaurants go I wanted this place to work but it just fell flat despite the good prices and portion sizes. The truth is this is deep fried frozen crap food that sits under a heat lamp and you can tell immediately the food quality is poor. The menu combinations are honestly amazing and would taste good if the ingredients were better or the kitchen made anything - but its all pre-made food that is heated and served. Hey I like salt as much as the next guy but there are way more spices, everything is over saturated with sodium. I could feel the salt affect my body as I ate and it made me dizzy on two different occasions. I liked the atmosphere but after this place has been 6 different restaurants/bars in 3 years I think all the design re design took a toll on the place. You can tell there is quite a bit of clash in the layout and mood of the joint. The staff has always been kind and helpful. Great service has been my experience each time. Prices seemed fair like I said above but balanced against the level of food you can tell they are really trying to squeeze the profit out of the meals. You can tell some items are fresh but not nearly enough to get through a meal, this sounds mean; but if you get real drunk this 'salt palace' would be a hit. This restaurant is seriously amazing for anytime of the day! A few of my friends and I went here around 8:30 on a Saturday evening for a few drinks and dinner. We started with the truffle shuffle straws, which are french fries topped with truffle oil, bacon, bleu cheese and chives. They were amazing! To drink I had a glass of the raspberry jam sour. Their beers on tap can be ordered as a 5oz, 16oz, or 34oz pour. My friends and I all ordered the smash burger, and I added a side of civil sauce (BBQ sauce mixed with steak sauce) to the side of mine. The two times I've been here has been on a Friday evening at peak hours for a chill girls night. I love the location of this place and the ambience too. The wait times have never ever been too much even though I've gone there during rush hours. The crack bread with the dipping is my favorite. They have a great menu for beverages. I love the glassware that they use for beverages. I love the decor and love how it helps bring up the mood. The food itself is pretty good and comes in huge quantities. The the veggie and falafel wrap is a great vegetarian option. You can easily share an entree if you have the crack bread as an app. My friend had the chicken and doughnuts and loved it. This is the second time I've been to Civil Kitchen, I love this place and I want to give it more than three stars. The food is great, very flavorful and the staff is wonderful. The reason for the three stars is that the flys are pretty bad since they keep the doors open. They need to get some fly traps or something to minimize them. Came here on recommendation from my hotel. Nice casual atmosphere but meal went down hill from there. Ordered home made onion rings appetizer. Rings were over cooked and very greasy. Service was slow the whole night. Never got water refills or check back after the main course came out. Waitress way very scarce at our table. Dropped bill but left our plates on the table. We stopped in for an early dinner in Springfield when we would typically eat at Black Sheep. I've been meaning to try this place for a while so we decided to give it a go. First, kids are welcome and they do provide a couple of high chairs. However, the bathrooms do not have changing tables and there isn't much space on the vanity for changing a baby. I could've maybe done it with a 3 month old but a squirmy one year old would've done damage in that space. Staff was very friendly and cooperative and patient! My husband ordered the pork belly banh mi tacos and I had the maple bourbon filet medallions. We got a side of mac and cheese for the baby but it has a definite smokey flavor that may be off-putting if you're looking for more simple fare. The tacos were great and interesting and not too messy. The real winner for me were the medallions! Perfectly done and the glaze was not too bourbon-y or maple forward. Just delightful! The side of sprouts were probably the best I've ever had - and I love sprouts! The Gouda mashed potatoes were perfectly fine but simple. We didn't get a chance to try the stuffed bread loaf but it looked epic and almost every table around us ordered it. Also, the music was absolutely bomb! Here's the deal with CK. I have heard about it for months and been so excited to try it. It's location is downtown Springfield, so parking stinks unless you go evening during middle of the week, which is what we did. We went as a party of 6 to celebrate our friend's birthday. Service was horribly slow! The restaurant was basically dead. There were four other tables (each with two people) while we were there. We were brought our food without condiments, which if you get a burger, you need ketchup and mayo and everything else. No joke 10 minute wait just for condiments so burger was cold by time ate it. And one of our friends meals didn't come out for 6 minutes after everyone else had already gotten food. All that being said, I would say food was just okay. The small casear salad was just okay. I like the maple balsamic glaze on it. Burger, aside from being cold from waiting for condiments (which I did request when ordered) was pretty good. The truffle shuffle straws were super yummy but eat with a fork if you order then because the toppings don't stick. The onion rings LOOK amazing, but they were actually so greasy I only had one and then had everyone else finish them. French onion soup was so good and thick cheese covered it - the best part. I found this restaurant through google after searching for a unique place to eat in Springfield. What an awesome find it was! We had a short wait and then were greeted by our server Sammy! A server who knows how to take care of the guest and knows her food. there was never an empty glass, never a dirty plate on the table. Always near by to get an extra napkin, and explain the desserts. I can't compliment her enough. The chefs/cooks in the kitchen. TOP NOTCH!!! I had PERFECTLY cooked salmon, few restaurants prepare this properly, your one of them. I enjoyed every morsel of food. this restaurant will become a location that many will flock to once they learn about it! Due to staffing shortages it takes a little longer for things to happen: seating, appetizers and the meal. But, this is the case in most restaurants now days so we should get used to it being the new normal. But once the wait is over the food is amazing. I highly recommend the flash fried kale, it has a taste that is out of this world. Quoting our waitress " I could eat my body wait in the Flash Fried Kale (and Brussels sprouts)". I've yet to rate civil. They began as one of my favorite places. Although they maintain a chill vibe and great beer selection, the food sucks donkey dick. There was a point where it was amazing. I do think the waiters should NOT tell the customers that it's a "scratch kitchen." It's almost as if the good cooks quit and they hired whoever will show up in the kitchen. It's a bummer because not a lot of restaurants have Brussels sprouts as a consistent menu item. civil is really fucking that up. YUM! This was my first time at Civil Kitchen, the last time I had been here it was still Trolley's. I ordered the Breakfast Burger which has two patties, a fried egg, bacon, cheese on a waffle; I then added truffle mayo as my sauce and Mac & cheese as my side. My friends said they barely saw my side before I scarfed it down! The side portion was small but the Mac & cheese was creamy and delicious. The burger was awesome. I have never had truffle mayo but this was the second place in Springfield I visited that offered it and I am a fan! I was with a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meals and local beers. The employee on the phone first told me they weren't taking orders anymore and then proceeded to ask me what I wanted after the fact I told her I just needed two sides. Even though she just mentioned she couldn't do orders with 30 minutes left before they closed. It's the fact of being true to all your customers and staying open when you're suppose to be. I can't remember the last time I had such a great experience at a restaurant concept like this. The lavender 75 was wonderful. Every item we ordered was on point. Their goat cheese, pecan salad was wonderful and they did not skimp on the toppings. The portobello burger was large enough and filling even for this carnivore; I didn't even miss the meats! We sat in the bar, server was very friendly, offering suggestions when prompted. I can't wait to go back.
