This place. I can't visit Springfield and not eat here. The food is wonderful, creative combinations, great ingredients, and SPOT-ON preparation!! Also I feel this is very reasonably priced too! Delicious cocktails for $10. Most of the great menu items are well under $20. Kids menu is a little pricey at $10pee, but hard to complain too much. I had the BBQ pork belly tonight at it was CRAZY good. Super meaty, fatty pork belly so tender I didn't use the knife at all. Laying on a bed of sweet potato hash that was the perfect sweet compliment to the belly. My wife had the Blue Goat Burger. Which was substantial and delicious. Her side of choice was the sweet potato waffle fries, which came with a little sugary coating that I would've requested they hold, but that's just me. Great place, service is always friendly and attentive, food is wonderful, always a good experience.

We came to Civil on our way to Branson. The ambience is excellent, super hipster. Waitress was kind and was quick. Food was mediocre. The menu looks phenomenal but the actual presentation was a disappointment. We started with the truffle fries. The flavors together were great but there was no adhesive, ie a sticky cheese to keep the toppings on the fries. We also ordered the feta dip which seemed frozen. It was not a dip it was a blob like frozen butter. I also tried the date n'apple salad. The dressing just did not pair well with the toppings. In my opinion, the dressing completely ruined the salad. I couldn't even eat it. We will not return.

Traveling through Springfield, MO and found this gem. The service was amazing. They were so helpful in describing the menu and helping make selections. The food was really good. Everything seemed fresh and made from scratch. The Mac and cheese and fried kale were next level! The onion ring appetizer was the BEST onion ring I've ever eaten. The location is in the downtown square and has a really cool vibe. Highly recommend!

    The Blue Goat Burger

We ended up in Springfield on a girls day out. We always try some place new to eat on our adventures. Civil Kitchen did not disappoint. We tried the seafood beignets, delicious. I had the blue goat burger and home made fries. Yummy!! Couldn't finish it all. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and people watching. Great place to try. The service was a little slow, but our waitress was new so not a big deal. Prices were comparable for the quality and quantity in my opinion. Be adventurous and give them a try!

Solid place to eat, amazing customer service and atmosphere is nice and clean. I recommend the fish tacos, slaw on side and extra hot honey! If you like burgers, get a smash burger with avocado spread and bacon! Great food and good place to take a date.

The inside looks like a dive bar and a basic cafe combined. Meager looking tables, chairs and booths with second rate condiments on the tables (who's ever heard of Red Gold Ketchup). The waitresses are pleasant. If you are looking to fill up on basic bar food then perhaps you will enjoy and be the type to give a 5 star rating like others have. For me, it's a 2 star rating. Not the worst I've ever had but far, far from the best.

My meal, two pieces of white meat, coleslaw, mash potatoes and Texas Toast for $9.95! Large portions of delicious juicy fried chicken golden brown, buttery creamy mash potatoes with gravy from scratch and cream coleslaw with just enough sweetness. The meal was so large I ended up bringing half of my chicken home. Husband had the pork tenderloin. It was double the size of most tenderloins in most restaurants. The condiments, Red Gold has been around from the 1940's, and family owned. Information on this U.S. business is some of the portion used from purchasing Red Gold products is given to support the hungry, disaster relief and the U.S. military. The restaurant looks like it use to be a bar with a pool table at one time. There is still the divider on the bar a section for the waitresses, large mirror behind the bar on the wall, the ceiling and the old beer light towards the back lead me to believe this. We were looking for a nice looking atmosphere restaurant. We were looking for a place with good food. The staff was friendly, prices were very reasonable. These days you can't find a restaurant with great, large down home cooking for two plus drinks for under$35. We will be back, maybe for the walleye special on Wednesday.

Enter The Grotto west coast food. Since I lived on the west coast for 40 years I thought it was appropriate that I come to judge the West coast authenticity. This place is awesome. My friend had a Baja bowl that looked and smelled divine and I had the steak Gorgonzola salad, the meat portion was huge and the candied pecans were delicious. I might even bring my super judgmental west coast rude family here since I think even they would be pleased at how delicious the food was. We sat in a comfy booth and loved every bite of our meal, the balsamic vinaigrette was the perfect complement to the savory steak and sweet pecans. I can't wait to go back to the grotto

Fiancé picked the burger and he was pleased with it, he said he would come back for it, so maybe just don't get the chicken sandwich. Everyone working at this spot was very nice and super friendly! The location itself was very clean and staff were going through table by table and cleaning everything (I was shocked because it was already very clean).
