The food is always great! The owners are there and work right beside the staff. They are always very friendly with customers and most consider themselves family. I have never had trouble getting along with the staff here... don't be afraid to ask for advice on off the menu items! The ambiance is relaxing and fun not stuffy. I've always heard City Limits was great! Every time I've came it was good! I went today and it was TERRIBLE! Food finally came out after waiting about a hour and a half. We ordered fried pickles and they were never put in until we said something 45 minutes later. My chicken fried steak tasted like dog food, LITERALLY, the gravy was just so plain also. No pepper, NOTHING. Fries tasted like they marinated in grease all day. Will NOT come back. read more

Stumbled on this place after walking out of another place in town before even getting to order. Best thing that could have happened. Much bigger than it looks. Food was amazing! Service was outstanding! Never seen a staff work so hard and good together. This place is a fine oiled machine!! Fantastic Apps: fried mushrooms, jalapeño strips and queso/chips. Three visits now & always friendly. Tacos are good, jalapeño strips are hot! Ribeye was good. Chicken strips were fresh & hot but a little over cooked. Fries were good & hot. Tea was great! Nice sport bar and grill that seems to be popular with the locals. The menu was traditional bar food with a short list of dinner items. The salad was pretty bland and the chicken shish kabobs the same. Service was lagging but I think it was due to several tables downing cold brews. read more

Giving one star because I have to give something... On Sunday November 20, 2022 around 11:30 am my family of 5 and my daughter's service dog walked in. We got seated (girl did ask if dog was a Service dog, which we said yes) and had drinks brought to us. While looking at the menu, the family sitting next to us went to the owner Denny to complain that "we had a dog". Denny then came to our table to tell us we can not have our dog in the restaurant. And "we were making families leave his restaurant ". We said it is our daughter's Service dog. He kept asking if it was for blind or deaf, and also asking for our papers. Both of which are illegal. He yelled where is the dog? Umm under the table quietly as she should be! He told us to get our "dog" and GET OUT. Yes he was mad and yelling. We walked out. My husband brought in papers (which we do not have to show) like he asked to see...and then he wouldn't look at them. He didn't care. We were also in this restaurant eating in Aug. with the service dog and everything was fine. The owner of the training facility called him to explain and offered to send the ADA law to him. He kept telling her you can only have a German shephard, lab, or retriever. (Not true), and only for blind or deaf (not true). He hung up on her :( . All of this created a medical issue with my daughter. Denny was very wrong, rude, and humiliated us. I would not want this to happen to another person or family. It is illegal to kick a service dog out. read more

Visited for the first time. Chips and salsa- chips good and crispy, salsa tasted like sweetened tomato paste. No spice. I ordered the SPICY lettuce wraps, the chicken was burnt and very dry the sauce had No spice whatever. I did eat the shredded cheese on the plate and a few pieces of chicken. The worst dish EVER! My mom got fish and chips, the batter on the fish was thick and greasy, but the French fries were FANTASTIC! Oh and the Denny margarita is AMAZING! If you're looking for a fancy place to go for dinner this isn't it. Everything is served on a paper plate and the outside isn't much for looks. That's not to say the food isn't good. This place is known as THE hole in the wall staple for the Denison/Sherman area. Nice cold drinks in a timely manner and food that always hits the right notes . There's a reason this place is packed every day of the week rain or snow. The best part though is the atmosphere with a packed house and cold drinks going fast from table to table you can guarantee a place that will be remembered. read more

Have eaten here for years. I remember how tiny it was when it first opened. Even after adding on, I think they could use more space. The staff is always friendly and working hard. Seems like my glass is always filled immediately after drinking a few swallows. Hamburgers are old fashioned and so good. They use quality meat. Their chips, salsa and cheese dip is one of several great appetizers. The chicken fried steak will fill you up. One of the best I've eaten. Good variety on the menu. I've been going to City Limits for over 30 years and I've never had a bad experience or a bad meal. The food and service are consistently above par. I have my favorites, but there isn't anything on the menu that I don't like. Food is hot and delicious. I've been going to City Limits for years and this was the first visit that wasn't a five star experience. Nothing was up to their usual high standards. Fried pickles were about half cooked, limp with doughy breading. The fries were so under-cooked that we sent them back. Then the meat in the burgers was over-cooked and very dry. The burgers are served already cut in half. Today whoever is in charge of cutting burgers had only managed to half cut them and we had to wait to get a knife before we could eat. Couldn't pick the darn things up as they were. So, not a good lunch. I hope this isn't the new City Limits norm. Dropped in for a quick lunch, was surprised to see the quaintness if the place after hearing so many people discuss how awesome a place it is. However, once we walked in the door it was great service and amazing food! The wait staff is young and fun making us laugh throughout our visit. The chips and salsa hit the spot! Despite being very busy at lunch hour it wasn't loud and the wait staff was quick and efficient but we didn't feel rushed, we will definitely be back and can't wait to take friends there as well! read more

On Monday, 5/23 I went in for lunch with some friends. City Limits was very busy with a large group, but we were patient and placed our order. After an hour had passed with no food and needing to get back to work, we told our waitress. We need our food to go. We then noticed people who came in after us were actually finishing their meals, now an hour and a 1/2 later we gathered our belongings to leave with, still no food. While walking out, our food was bagged and brought to us, by the owner. We tried to tell him what happened and he was rude and told us he didn't have time to talk to us. Omg! I love this place... it is definitely where the locals go and Travellers that like to find the local yummy gems. The service is just stellar. You can't tell the owners from the local hired staff because it seems each employee treats it like as if it was their own. Everything on their menu is very tasty. I normally get fish and chips and my husband orders a hamburger. I love a good Irish pub with fish and chips and I would put city limits fish and chips up against any Irish pub's fish and chips. read more

This is a gem on the north side of 82. I had the chicken tacos dipped in wing sauce (cara the waitress recommended this) and they were excellent! My wife had the chili tacos which were also very good and filling. The nachos were great and the atmosphere was mellow and warming. The bar area seemed exciting however we were seated further away (probably because our kids were with us). Great service and great food, highly recommended to anyone! read more
