My wife Betty and I were in Sherman at noon and looking for something that wasn't a chain. There are not many home cooking places left. Saw City Limits and decided to give it a try. Parking lot was full, so had to park in back. Greeted at the door and seated. All tables occupied except a table for two next to us. Waitress brought our drinks, took our orders, and brought our meals in 15 minutes. They handle crowds well. When the people at the table next to us left the staff had it bussed, wiped and ready before the diners walked out the door. You don't see the staff idling in this place. I had a ham and Swiss sandwich . Had about half a pound of good ham. Real Swiss cheese. My wife had a half sandwich with vegetable soup. Plenty to eat and good food. Menu has plenty of selection. Next time I'll try the Chicken fried steak. Best service we've had in the Sherman Dennison area. We will be back. read more

We got here around 2 on a Sunday afternoon, and it was packed! Someone at the door told us to sit anywhere we wanted, and we waded through the restaurant to an open table. For how crowded it was, service was excellent. Servers were attentive and kept our glasses refilled. We had the fried zucchini, bacon cheeseburger, fries, and the "taco salad" (which was more like nachos than a salad), and everything was delicious. Prices were reasonable. read more

It was my first time here! Walked in and they welcomed us right away! This place is in a small town right off the parkway! It is everyone favorite local place around there! I'm a huge burger fan! I got the bacon cheeseburger! It was really good. The bacon was cooked just right and it went really well with the condiments! My friend got a classic american cheeseburger! He told me he liked it a lot also! We also got some french fries! A size large is enough for the both of us! The only thing that I wish was different is that the fries had more seasoning. Again, seriously?? No one has reviewed City Limits?? This is a wonderful local place that is known for its chicken fried steak. My son had invited my SO up to have dinner there. We were all starving by the time that we got there. My SO said he'd seen me eat more that night that he'd ever seen me eat before! The chicken fried steak was great overall as was my baked potato! My salad would have been better if I'd not seen brown in my salad. We also got fried mushrooms and cheese sticks. I know, I know, not on plan by a long shot, but I so enjoyed it! This was the worst meal I have ever had in Grayson county!!!! They stoped serving the only thing on the menu that's worth ordering, then when I ordered my burger that was on the menu, they messed it up, had to send it back then when I got it back it sucked so bad I could not even eat it!!! Eddy Macs is 100% better and not over priced! Go to eddy macs if you want a good meal!!!ill never step foot in City Limits again! Oh and I asked to speak to the owner, he passed me by 2 times and never would come talk to me.... this place sucks!!!! read more

I use to live in the Sherman area and City Limits was one of my favorites. Returned 20 years later and the food is still great! We had one of our favorites-Turkey Tacos. Delicious! The chips and hot sauce is still one of my favorites. Can't wait to eat here again, hopefully will not be another 20 years. read more

The Chicken Fried Steak, the drinks, the chips & salsa...and outstanding service make it one of THE places to see and be seen in Texomaland...I was there when it opened in 1981( if I'm remembering it correctly) and check in each and every time I'm back in town. My wife and I were looking for a local restaurant in Sherman. We tried City limits on Saturday for lunch. The parking lot was packed. Found a slot next to the dumpster. Thought we might have problem getting a table. We were greeted at the door and shown to a table for two. Our drinks were delivered, our meal order taken, and our meal set on the table in less than 15 minutes. Outstanding! I had a ham and Swiss sandwich and my wife had a half ham and Swiss with a bowl of vegetable soup. The sandwiches had at least 3/4 inch of ham and very good Swiss cheese. The dining room crew are outstanding. They bused the table next to ours before the diners got out the door. They really hustle, and make sure that the customer not ignored. She was on top of all her tables, made great conversation, made our difficult orders seem simple lol and prices on everything were great. This place is my home away from home. I eat here about 2-3 times a week. Everything on the menu is fantastic!! There are many off-the-menu items that are amazing as well. Just ask any of the waitresses and they can tell you some of the off-the-menu items. If you get the queso, which is already delicious, have them add chili to it, and it makes it even better. This is a great place for a fun American food experience. It's sort of typical bar food. Consistently good, but not necessarily great.

City limits is a diner drive inn dive they have really good food! Served on paper plates! Their chicken fried steak is so big it's hanging over the side of plate and everything else comes on another plate! You can guarantee cold air cold beer great service and good food! On the days Dallas Cowboys play it's a rocking good time.they have 20 Tv's and your sure to catch the game you want to see! They have a patio area for the over flow and your see anyone from the mayor to former Texas player to Ou players in there it's just one big ole family in there defiantly a family place! We love this place and have for many years. I would originally give it only 4 stars because of the heavy smoking in the front of the restaurant. But happy to say NO SMOKING allowed at all!!! WHOO-HOO HOO! I'm a happy gal now! Love the chicken quesadillas! We hold the onions and add jalapeños! We usually split an order (they are that big!). Margaritas are awesome! Good food that is inexpensive. Had the steak been served on an actual China plate, I would have given it 4 stars. Simple but good.

Somebody mentioned the Quesadilla's and enchiladas not on the menu. The key to dillas is getting them with buffalo sauce and the enchiladas with flour tortillas instead of corn..........HUGE difference. Both are delicious. read more
