I cannot explain how great these people are. Ron, the owner is super professional and fast to reply - which are two qualities I look for in a company that I need in a pinch (when a rat is in my apartment). I was honestly a bit nervous as I was referred by a coworker and literally every review is positive (which means you are paid to or they take money off), but they were as advertised. Ron had his tech Joe out to our apartment faster than our braindead landlords and Joe showed me explained throughly and with fact based evidence (droppings) that it was actually a baby rat. About a month ago we had a little mouse pop up in our Manhattan apartment. After living in NYC for 10+ years, this is the first time I've dealt with a rodent of any sort, so it's a pretty jarring experience when you see a mouse run across your kitchen, especially when you have a newborn baby crawling around the house. I emailed City Express, and the next morning Ron got in touch, and within a few days a 2 of his team members came over. They were very thorough, filled all the gaps, laid down some traps, etc. Unfortunately a few weeks later the mouse showed up again. Ron scheduled Greg to come back out (today) and he was fantastic. He worked with our building handyman to pull the dishwasher out, as we weren't able to get behind the dishwasher the first time they came out. Ron has been very responsive and helpful throughout the process, and I again can't stress enough how great Greg was. Greg came over to my NYCHA apartment and filled in the gaps. He told me where the rats like to live and where it goes pooping, etc. He was not able to catch the rat but he helped rat proof my home. For that I'm forever grateful. Greg also taught me where to place traps etc - the trap ultimately worked. I used this company for the first time abt 3 years ago. The owner himself answered the call and scheduled a service ASAP. The person servicing the apartment came on time, completed the services and I never had any issues again in that apartment. Before using the company I had anxiety abt coming home, being home etc. When I moved this past year, it was one of the important things on my list to get done before moving in, right up there with installing internet. In my apartment I saw a tiny mouse scurry into the heat radiators one late night. I decided to do a search for an extermination company that would be able to take a look the next day because I was so terrified. Luckily City express Exterminating was able to accommodate my concerns and come the next day. The specialist did a full walkthrough of every inch in my apartment and set up traps and barriers in all areas where mice could come in. They explained that I didn't have an infestation and it was probably just an lone mouse trying to find warmth in the winter. I haven't yet seen a mouse again. I'm knocking off one star because they are pretty pricey and I was told the credit card machine was not working which was kind of odd. I do think this should be made aware early on because many people may not keep that amount of cash on hold or would like to benefit from credit card cash back services. Also another reason for the deduction is I was supposed to get a 30 day follow up but didn't receive one. read more

Very rude business owner! I saw a mouse 3 days after the follow up visit, so I called the owner, Ron about the problem, wondering is the technician missed a hole. Ron was so rude, and irresponsible. He yelled at me, blaming me not reading the contact but expecting no mouse after the service. He said if there was a hole, the hole was not visible by the technician. The technician called me later, with a more cooperative attitude. He told me they checked everywhere, and there might be a hole behind the closet which they could not see, and the thing I could do was put some traps and contact the super of the building. read more

Unfortunately, they weren't able to get some one out same day (although given the time when I reached out, I was not surprised and don't fault them for). While I have had no issues with the exterminator that actually comes to our building, the owner of this company is just a terrible person. I called today to let him know that no one seemingly came to our building as scheduled last week as all our traps hadn't been changed and the person waiting at home for service was never contacted. What I received was a barrage of insults and profanity including calling someone a "dumb c**t b*tch" and telling me he would beat me up. Don't give your business to this company. It just isn't worth it. There are other companies whose service is just as good and won't insult you when you have questions. Just to be 100% clear, I called the phone number on our invoices which matches the number on this listing and the website matches as well. This is most definitely the company that didn't show up for service and then insulting me and my family on the phone after I called to inquire what happened. read more

I'm just seeing my review from last year and this will be very similar, so give City Express points for consistency. My wife, while feeding our newborn, saw a mouse around 3:00 in the morning. By 8:00 am, on what was certainly one of the hottest and muggiest days of the year, Greg was in our apartment and on the hunt. It may be luck that City Express had someone available when we we were in need (twice!), but what isn't luck is their professionalism and thoroughness. And Greg deserves another call-out. Rich, the technician who came out, was kind, prepared and skillfully went through every corner of the apartment to seal off any entry for mice. The mouse that had been caught in a trap managed to escape before Rich arrived. So he went the extra mile to look behind appliances and in all rooms and closets of the apartment to confirm the mouse likely escaped back where it came in from. I am so pleased with the job that was done, the exterminator took his time with covering up holes and finding entryways. Picture this: It's Thursday night, 9:06pm, December 22nd, right before the long Christmas weekend. You are finishing a long day of work in your Flatiron office, alone on your floor, preparing for one more full day of work before the break. Out of the corner of your eye you see a frantic and scary mouse scurrying back and forth on your rug. You scream, and the mouse hides behind the couch. Who you gonna call? Fortunately, I called City Express Exterminating. On Friday morning I reached this company, and my paniced plea for help was received calmly by Ron. He assured me that it was possible, even with the holiday weekend, to send help out later that day yes - Friday, December 23! Richie arrived even earlier than scheduled. He looked over the office surroundings, and professionally and acutely assessed the situation. He explained to me the holes that were allowing for the infestation, and how he was going to stop them. He took extra care to explore any possible openings around the radiator and plugged those as well. We reviewed additional prevention strategies, and agreed that leaving bait boxes were the most that my stomach could handle. He assured me that it was VERY unlikely any more vermin could enter the office, but he would return in a month just to make sure that the holes were still plugged, and the boxes hadn't been touched. Did I mention this all took place on Friday, December 23rd, and that every other company had already closed for the holiday? Living in New York City is a blessing and a curse. The curse is dealing with threats from vermin who don't take Christmas off. The blessing is having resources like City Express Exterminating. City Express just finished exterminating and mice proofing our apartment in the West Village right around the corner from Murray's Cheese Shop (Mice HQ in NYC). They did a brilliant job and were extremely thorough. Went around our apartment twice and proofed every single room, closet, corner, nook & cranny. Pulled out all the appliances and base boards to ensure everything was proofed professionally. Highly recommend their service. They also came in a moment's notice which was also VERY MUCH appreciated considering we had seen 4 mice playing soccer with a Tortilla chip the night before. We called them at 11pm on Monday evening and by 7am Tuesday morning they were mice proofing our apartment. The tech. arrived not more than 3 hours after my call and was great! Patched all the entry points, laid down bait stations and set down glue traps. He even encouraged me to follow-up with them if I saw any additional evidence of mice. And, of course, the price was great! We discovered a mouse in our apartment and filled the area with traps. Unfortunately this wasn't enough - we had no choice but to call an exterminator. City express was incredibly helpful, they sent us someone within the same day we called. Joe our exterminator came right on time, was incredibly thorough, and afterwards walked us through everything he had done. He had patched up holes in the kitchen that our own super was not able to detect. He not only patched up all of our holes, but he also sprayed poison in all of the areas he knew the mice had been. He was also able to advise us on whether or not this was an infestation which is what we were worried about. We had a terrible mouse problem in our old apartment where mice were coming in from under the dishwasher, under the stairs, and under the HVAC units. City Express came in, figure out all of the "secret" entrances and patched up all of the holes -- even the ones we didn't think about. They also laid down bait traps and gave us advice on why the building's glue traps weren't working (mice were too used to them and had figured how to get around them). The exterminators were extremely thorough, enough that when we moved into a new apartment, we called them again, to mouse-proof the new place. They did an examination, told us where there might have been a rodent problem in the past, but told us that the real problem was insects. Because we asked for a mouse-proofing that ended up not being needed, they threw in a pet-safe spraying for bugs. Great service! read more

We had a mouse sighting on a Sunday evening. Went to Yelp! and noted three companies with great reviews. We called all of them. City Express got back to us immediately and they were here at 7am the following morning. Team of two including son of the owner. They closed up holes behind radiators and spaces in between the floor and floorboards,and also put out poising for the mouse/misce. They also arranged for a followup visit, indicating that us that the offending rodent may be trapped in the apartment, either alive or dead. Sure enough, a week later on a Saturday, the mouse (who'd clearly seen better days and she was not moving very fast) made its appearance. Wife lost her shit. We called City Express and they were over in, I'm not kidding, Gary was here in FIVE minutes. He was a pleasure to work wtih. I find that all of these guys take great pride in their work and really want to help you. After five minutes, Gary trapped the mouse, put it in a bag, and down the disposal it went, and all this time being a pleasure to deal with. Would love to add something negative so people know I'm not a shill, but can't think of anything. But I give zero stars to the univited mouse. read more

The crazy heat wave brought out a SWARM of ants in my garden apartment. INSIDE and at 9pm on a Saturday night in July. It was seriously a Twilight Zone experience, there were thousands of them, winged and not winged. It was overwhelming and a bit scary. I called around to a few exterminators, skeptical and wary as I have dogs and am not a fan of toxins in the household. Finally, I got a call back from a guy named Steve, from City Express. He was attentive and caring and immediatly assuaged my fear of the problem, as well as the toxicity of the pesticides at their disposal. My questions about fees were answered a few minutes later when Steve's call was follwed up by his boss, Ron, who owns the company. He too was polite and clear, the price was acceptable and the choice was clear that these guys were the ones to handle the problem. So, Steve showed up in a timely fashion and really took his time with the process, patiently sucking up every last tiny invader with his extermi-vac and then treating the perimeters and injecting the wall facing the garden. He was confident, capable and at ease, which greatly assuaged my nerves about the whole event. He then placed everything back where it was, and cleaned up perfectly after himself, leaving me clear instructions about when the area would be safe for the dogs again. I heard some noises at the middle of the night. I recently moved to the city. So I called a few exterminators and the only one who picked up was city express. They were very knowledgeable and let me know that it sounded like I had a rodent problem. A city express technician arrived shortly. He inspected the whole apt, found a hole were the rat came from sealed it up & caught the rat. They explained every part of there procedure. I had a problem with mice due to construction in the street around my apartment. I called after hours and the technician arrived in an hour. To reserve the technician, they ask for your credit card number, and you have to pay by check. The technician Rich was great. I told my super the mice were coming in from under the stove and from a hole in my pantry closet. The super told me moving the stove would be a big job and they'd have to tear down my counter. Rich pulled the stove out and filled the holes, 1-2-3. He went around the whole apartment to find entry ways like radiators and filled holes and set up glue traps and bait traps.
