This reminds me of the barbecue that I'm used to - coming from Kansas City. Judging it by the KCBS standard you'll find the meat is great and the sauce is pretty good. Has a nice casual atmosphere that is reminiscent of the good bbq joints that you'll see out in KC. We've been needing bbq like this in the triangle for some time now. It's finally here, folks! read more

City BBQ is a very busy place since opening a few months ago. The prices are really good compared to the local places and the BBQ is better than the Pit, Coopers and Carolina BBQ. We had takeout recently and were a little disappointed this the 4 star rating. The food was a little cold and the slaw was 1/4 oil. I'm hoping this was a temporary lapse in quality. We will go back. Update: We ordered the Judges Sampler for take out on April 9th. The food was a great value for around $30. They say it feeds four but we find it will feed more. This place is always busy and for a good reason, the food tastes good, the price is very reasonable and the staff is actually friendly. More places need to be like City BBQ read more

Counter service BBQ joint with lots of choices for meats and sides. We tried the Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken sandwiches with cheese and bacon fries. The food was pretty good and came out fast. There is a sauce bar with a variety of "warm" sauces. We tried them but ended up liking the room temp. sauces on the table. Overall, we would try again. read more

Love this place! The barbecue and all their sauces are amazing & the service is always great and the employees are friendly!

Went there on a whim with my wife and son. She had the CowBell brisket sandwich. I ordered the half smoked chicken. The sandwich was creative and the brisket was moist with just enough smoke. My chicken was sublime. Smokey and super moist. Def recommend. We also shared the sides. Baked beans have potential but just too sweet for our taste. If they tone it down, I think they'll get it right. Beans with bacon was good and the cukes and onions as well. I like the variety of sauces and pickles to self serve. A definite recommendation for a good, fast bbq meal with a wonderful staff. read more

The food was great! Me and my coworker's went at rush hour lunch time. The service was fast and not lacking at all. The staff was very helpful in ordering for me being a first time customer. I will be eating there again! read more

Love this place for a quick stop. Friendly service, good tasting food and decent portions. Can be a little on the expensive side if you're used to other mom and pa bbq places in the area. But the brisket sandwich is yummy; same with the fries. read more

Great BBQ place, the Cow Bell beef brisket was excellent ... And a Fun place to eat!!!

Great BBQ and awesome service! I'm a regular at this restaurant now and never had a bad experience. Glad that this restaurant is fairly close to my house. Kudos to the management team and keep up the good work! read more

Wonderful brisket. You must try the corn pudding! Prices are fair and service was great!

We went here again to try the platters out. Still 28.00 for a one person meal. I'm outrageous for the amount they charge for little food you get. For huspuppies, we only got 6¡!!!!!! So we went to Smithfield's BBQ and for the same price of the sampler at City BBQ, you get 2 dozens of huspuppies! And big containers of food sides. I wasted my money. read more

Food is great, portions are plenty and restaurant is always clean. Have visited about 5 times now. One of my favorite smoked BBQ spots..

Stopped while in Raleigh area. Had pulled pork, salad, with Mac & cheese and Corn pudding sides. Can recommend with out reservation.

I love the sampler platter, enough to share! One of our go to restaurants. Friendly staff, food is always good and they cater!

Good quality restaurant. The service is friendly and fast and always the food is fresh. Nice place to order a bite of good quality meats like barbecue and chicken, while also getting some fresh and unique side items. read more

Holy smokes the place is delicious. Great atmosphere and service was lighting fast. The food was fresh. I will definitely be driving from Fayetteville again to eat here. The prices were very affordable read more

I got the charred ribs from here. It's oven baked so the side on the metal pan is going to cook faster. What the cook should have done was flipped the ribs over. I got a mouth full of char. It takes a lot of beverages to get that taste out of your mouth. read more

We tried their brisket and their BBQ for a to-go order. It was delicious and our order was ready in about 10-15 mins. I was able to choose plenty of sauces to go and they pack it up nicely in a big paper sack. We will be going here again! read more

We placed a curbside order with city bbq, paid and we're told to call when we arrived. We gave them not only the make and model of the car as you typically do, but also our location. After arriving and calling them saying we were outside we waited probably 10 minutes( we called 30 minutes before arriving) and we saw an employee walked out with an order look around for less than a minute, didn't even step off the side walk and go back inside. I had a feeling it was ours but obviously I didn't know for sure. After about another 10 minutes we were still waiting so my husband walked inside. While he was in there he told him the name on the order and the girl said " we took it out but didn't see you" my husband just took the food and left. The only reason I'm leaving this review is because they had my phone number and did not call or anything they just took the food back in even after we already paid. read more

The BEST bbq I've ever had. Brisket, chicken, pulled pork, cornbread, mac & cheese, sweet tea, all delicious. Plus we met Porkchop who is very friendly and helpful. We'll be back for sure! read more

Man this place was packed and for good reason!!! I had the chicken bar b que and it was soooo good! My mom had the ribs and the peach cobbler... She raved about both! Definitely going back! read more

The pulled pork is awesome! And so are the green beans. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only thing on the menu that I didn't care for was the mac n cheese. The cheese was gross. It tasted like it came out of a giant can. Their bbq sauce is delicious though! read more

Everyone was very hospitable and willing to do what was needed to ensure my satisfaction. Great food and very clean restaurant.

Fantastic! We have been here several times and each was better than the last. Having recently 'moved out east' we have been searching for months for a great BBQ place. This is definitely it! The staff are helpful and they go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The restaurant is clean and well kept. The portions are very generous and we typically can get 2 meals out of ours! I noticed several people mentioning the not finding a table before ordering 'rule'. I don't even understand why this could potentially be upsetting. Most restaurants have you stand and wait until a host can seat you (not to mention the handful of restaurants that require your entire party to be there before you can be seated) so I don't see how this is any different. I never gave it a second thought until I read some of the previous comments. read more

Great food, great environment! You get what you pay for and I love the brisket. You will spend easily $10+ for a meal. If that's not what u like then don't eat here. read more

This was our first time trying city barbecue. We had the city sampler. It was excellent. We asked for a hot sauce and it didn't disappoint. Looking forward to going back and having more gumbo. read more

I come here once a week with my wife or with friends. I have almost everything on their menu and have never been disappointed!! Staff is always nice and very helpful!! read more

Top-notch BBQ!!! My suggestions for improvement would be: -switch to rectangular pans rather than round, for trays. Round trays too hard to fit on your table and people always end up discarding the tray, after delivering the meal to their table. that's all I can think of for now. read more

Expensive but not much food. We bought the family dinner and it was barely enough to feed two people and the food was terrible.

City BBQ provided catering services for our wedding. They were very professional throughout the entire evening and provided cake cutting services free of charge. The food was delicious and we got a lot of compliments from our guests and the mac and cheese bar and lemonade stand were a nice addition. I would recommend them to friends and they are very affordable while serving high quality fresh food! read more

First time going there today. Loved it! From the minute we walked in, the experience as great. We were greeted warmly and told him it was our first time there. The gentleman behind the register suggested the sampler plate. We got our drinks and picked our seat and the food was ready. There was my husband, 8 year old son and myself. We all tried a little bit of everything. I am super picky about meat, especially bbq, I hate the taste of reheated meat. This did not taste reheated at all. The chicken breast was so moist, the pork was amazing. The rib meat came clean off the bone and the brisket was awesome. The Mac and cheese and French fries topped it off. We had to take extras home. We will be going back for sure. Great first experience. Wish the gentleman behind the counter had a name tag to acknowledge him properly. read more

Ordered the light brisket sandwich with two sides. The item was reasonably priced and excellence portion size. The mustard BBQ sauce was my favorite and loved the collards. The service was very excellent and restaurant was very clean. read more

This place is awesome!!! On weekend outing to see our sister in law and stumbled on City Barbeque. Absolutely BEST sweet potato casserole, brisket, authentic cornbread and their own craft sauces and that's just a small part of the menu. We got a combo for two with pork, turkey, sausage, brisket, green beans, Texas toast, cornbread, drinks and sweet potato casserole all for 27 bucks. Too much food for my husband and I to finish. Want to come back and try the chicken and ribs! Friendly folks and great atmosphere read more

Service was fine. The food overall was disappointing. The brisket was dry, the pulled pork and the ribs were below average, the only bright spot was the chicken. Most likely will not be back. read more

visited because was told this place was great. think I may have gone at very wrong time of day (5:00p Wed.). got the motherload. only thing that was decent was pulled pork. everything else was dry, hard, and lacked flavor. even the cornbread. reminded me of national lampoons Christmas dinner. thought brisket was going to be in slices but ours mirrored that of the pulled pork (chunked in a pile). ordered online and despite not being busy, order still wasn't ready upon arrival which was 15 min after it was promised. staff lacked good customer service skills. read more

The location I went to was in Garner. Smithfield barbecue is just down the road. So we tried city barbecue. Did not like the taste. Yes we were spoiled by Smithfield barbecue. So after a while we thought maybe we were wrong or just not having a good day. So on our best to be returned only to find out their Barbecue was not very good. He tried other dishes even Vegetables and overall we didn't like anything. Something about the flavor. Even tried another location and same thing. I don't understand because Barbecue is a southern thing and you would think people here should know good barbecue. Everyone says they know where the best barbecue is And then they debate it. But this place is the worst we've ever tasted and we always trying different barbecue places. Smithfield barbecue is about the best or one of the best. I wish I could say something good about city barbecue. The employees were very good. But the barbecue is actually one of the worse and I wish I were a fan. But some like it. You have to decide for yourself. We bought barbecue several different businesses and did our own taste test with Family and friends and coworkers. City barbecue was last in flavor on the list. That's our experience I hope yours is better. Thanks for reading all this but I had to tell people. read more

best BBQ in garner! it's a little bit aways from me, but the short drive is worth it. the food is so addictive! employees could use a bit of pep in their step and act like they enjoy their job, but other than that the atmosphere is great! read more

This place is excellent. I'm not a fan of barbecue or places the sell it but this place is delicous. Lots of options, excellent side, and assortment of bbq sauce. read more

The folks working here could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Hannah greeted us and explained the menu. It was our first time, so we had lots of questions. She answered them AND gave us free samples (so we would know what to order). I had downloaded the app beforehand, so she showed us how that worked as well. When we sat down to eat, one of the men working there invited us to get our drinks while we got our food. He even got us plates and utensils. We were asked several times if our food was great and if we needed anything. Wow! read more

This was our first time here. What great customer service! We told them it was our first time so they went over the menu in detail then offered us a free slice of cake. After we ordered, the counter staff noted that I was walking slowly due to recent surgery and brought our food to us. The smokehouse turkey salad was fresh with beautiful presentation and my husbands brisket tacos were fantastic ( yes I snuck a sample)! read more
