This is what we ordered for our Thanksgiving this year! We decided to save a Turkey and ordered their Pulled Chicken with 'Bama Sauce, a Rack of succulent fall off the bone Smoked BBQ Ribs, and their Smoked Beef Brisket. At home, we made all of the traditional Thanksgiving sides. It was a huge success! I called in our order 2 days before, and they opened from like 7:00am until 11:00am for Thanksgiving morning pickups. I arrived promptly at 10:00am as I said I would and they welcomed me in and prepared my order fresh. The Staff was wonderful, everyone was in good spirits and helpful. They still had other sides and drinks to offer that morning so I purchased a gallon of their Sweet Iced Tea as well. This may be a new Thanksgiving Tradition for me, and it made for great sandwich leftovers! read more

All I can say is WOW. This is my first time visiting this establishment but after today this will certainly not be my last time. I had take-out today but I will definitely dine-in next time so I can enjoy my meal with a beer or two. Today I had a two-meat plate with pulled pork and brisket. The portions were great for my money. (I hate going to the likes of Dickeys BBQ and getting a double meat plate and still being hungry afterwards) but City BBQ filled me up and I still had extra to save for later. The pulled pork at City BBQ was moist and flavorful, with a hint of smokyness. The pulled pork honestly didn't need any barbeque sauce, but I loved that they had tomato-based bbq sauces to dip it in as an option and to add that extra "kick" that I like. This was very refreshing for me because I actually hate the vinegary-based NC-style barbeque like one would get from Smithfield's Chicken and BBQ, and I'm from NC! The brisket was very moist and very seasoned. I didn't need any sauce for that. I was a tad bit disappointed that I had to buy my sides separately but after tasting the "green beans with bacon" and "baked beans with brisket" I can see why they charge for those separately. It's because the sides are good in their own right. The green beans tasted exactly like the homemade green beans my grandfather used to grow in his garden. And the baked beans... just delectibale.. sweet, smoky, spicy all-in-one! My wife had smoked chicken and macaroni and cheese. She didn't care too much for the macaroni and cheese or the sweat tea l (and neither did I after tasting a sample), but the chicken was excellent and she agreed!!! I tried a piece of hers and it was very moist.. not at all dry and was seasoned to perfection. The bbq sauce was the icing on the cake. I do think City Barbeque will soon need larger seating capacity if they keep making the food taste as good as it does. This absolutely blows Dickeys BBQ and Smithfields out of the water. But honestly I dont even think you can compare because City BBQ is unique in itself and I'm glad it is. Thanks City BBQ for building this so close to home and making me spend my money when I should be saving it lol. read more

My parents were in town and we had planned to go to Dickey's BBQ in Raleigh. Since City BBQ was closer we decided we would check it out. Unfortunately we were disappointed. We got a variety of foods and NOTHING was even warm. All of our food was room temperature. Ribs were tough & 1/4 chicken was dry. The dining room is set up for parties of 4 and under. We had 6 people and had a difficult time finding a place to sit until someone got up so we could put 2 table together. The only person who really enjoyed their meal was my youngest daughter who got Fried Chicken Tenders. Sad when the most enjoyable thing was not even a BBQ item!!! From now on we will just keep driving and head on up to Dickey's in Raleigh! read more

First visit ever and it was delicious! We had the brisket and it was pure KC brisket. I may have to come back and buy a whole brisket to take home for my upcoming pool party! read more

This review is only about the takeout service. We decided to takeout and eat at home last night and we decided on the City barbecue because you could order online. We did and were exceptionally pleased that we were able to simply walk in and our order was ready. The portions were a little bit less than we are used to, but turned out to be just about right. We had the sampler and split it between 2. Food was cooked well and the barbecue sauce was delicious!! read more

Average to below average at best. I would give a 2.5 star rating if I could. I'm not sure if we just caught them at a bad time, but the food was nothing to write home about. Pulled pork was decent but definitely needed the various bbq sauces we added for flavor. The potato salad tasted ok but was super wet (heavvvyyy on the mayo). The brisket baked beans lacked brisket (lol) and just tasted like bbq sauce. The corn pudding was delicious and buttery. The free peach cobbler from our app reward was sooo salty. I'm not sure how this is even possible, but I guess this is their recipe. All in all it was okay. Not worth the drive if you're not already in the area, and also not the cheapest option for a family, as sides are not included in the price for entrees. read more

I have never had Worse food in my life! Being from TX I understand that brisket can be hit and miss but Every frikin thing on their menu? Across the board everything was incredibly salty, the kind of salty that hurts your mouth and I'm a smoker. I got brisket, sausage, collards and even the collards which were heavy vinegar (which is new to me) but bloat your a$$ salty. K, So salty that when I took a bite of a pickle it was Refreshingly unsalty! I'm not joking here. The brisket was dry and with the exception of salt had no flavor. I pressed down on the brisket with my finger and the meat just mooshed down to a solid splat. I went on a Saturday prime dinner time around Garner time slot. I took my plate back to the counter because it was so dry and they cut up a brand new brisket for me and it was also totally dry. overcooked beyond help. read more

I love City Barbecue in Garner, Nc my host Elizabeth was very helpful with me and making my choices on what I wanted to eat. Everyone was very friendly and there was no waiting thank you. I went to support the Youth Department at my Church New Believers Christian Center. read more

Loved seeing a BBQ place go in at White Oak in Garner. This shopping center has needed new restaurants for quite sometime now. The population in Garner is rapidly growing, hope the city can catch up! I have been here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed my meals. I do plan on going back! My only complaint is that the seating is a little limited, especially on the weekends. My family and I waited 10 minutes after we got our food just to sit down (and we ended up outside). Other than that, food is great and customer service is awesome! read more

Good food, loud, small and BUSY. Hard to beat for a variety of different kinds of BBQ meat ( pork, beef, turkey or chicken. Also have a very nice side salad. read more

Worst meal ever. Pulled pork was hard not moist, stringy and too salty. Mac and cheese was like mush and cheese sauce was gross. the beef brisket was really dry. Lighting was so bright you could wear shades. Also noticed other patrons dumping theirs as well. Don't waste $28.00 like we did. :( read more

I really enjoyed brisket and hush puppies. Great food, good customer service and good atmosphere.

Can I just say YUMMY!!!! We went today for my husbands birthday lunch. The customer service was fantastic. The young lady helped me with my app. We received a complimentary piece of chocolate cake. It was enough to share between the 4 of us! But the food : AWESOME! You choose your sauce which I like ( I'm a red sauce girl myself!) My favorite side is between the baked beans or the gumbo, so I just get both! I highly recommend this place! read more

GEORGE IS THE BEST! The food was perfect and we had some family in town for Thanksgiving that had never been there before. We ordered a little bit of everything and the food was fantastic, the ribs? I love all of the fixins' and the cornbread? Worth it's weight in gold. There is something for everyone on the menu and the selection of bbq sauce on each table is super helpful. I have dreams about them! What made the meal a 10+ was George. He was super helpful, friendly and an all around pleasure to talk and joke with. My family is forever a fan of your establishment because of George. read more

The cashier (Mecca) was absolutely wonderful! He was super helpful and friendly. Rare qualities these days! I ordered creamy slaw, well they ended up not having enough to fill a container completely. The manager came out quickly and told me that he was sorry that they didn't have enough to give me a full container and he handed me a coupon for a free side. Very professional demeanor. read more

5 stars, I got the Pulled Pork & Beef Brisket, mac & cheese, corn bread. Everything was great! Portions were huge! This will be my new favorite barbecue restaurant. read more

I love City BBQ coming fro Ohio I was very excited to see this restaurant in Garner NC the staff great but the food is even Better !!!

City barbecue never disappoints. Rewards program is great and gets you free treats. Food is good and made fresh each day. Lots of options for barbecue sauces. Staff are always friendly and really care for the customers. Eating in and take out are always great options here! read more

Great brisket tacos. This place rocks. Big portions and flavor for days. You could smell the smokey goodness from down the block. I have never had anything there that was not off the charts. Cobbler is a sinful finish to an outstanding meal. They even brought around cake samples. CAKE SAMPLES. read more

After one of my friends raved about the ribs I decided to try it. One if the new restaurant in the area. The service was impeccable!!! I was alone and have oxygen and Jorge was very solicitous and gave me personal service., he was great and made ordering my dinner so easy for me. They seem to be big on customer service and that is hard to find now days. I ordered the half rack ribs, baked beans, texas toast, and corn pudding. I asked about the potato salad and cornbread and banana pudding as was given those extra sides. So of course I had a people bag...lol. The ribs were a little over cooked in some parts but the tender ones were great. I tried the different sauces and liked the sweet barbecue the best. Texas toast not as buttery but that may be a good thing. Baked beans are very good and smoky. I loved the potato salad the best. Corn pudding good but corn was over cooked. Overall a great change and they give you big portions. I will come again!! Looks like everyone was eating the pulled pork sandwich and fries so I will have to try that. I saw waiters bring fresh hot fries to the table. The banana pudding was very disappointing for me - not the traditional I was hoping for!!! I really hope Jeorge gets a raise or promotion - he sealed the reason to return for me!!! read more

Very impressed! Great customer service, especially the manager. Long lines, but definitely worth the wait! Oh and LOVE that they have pepsi products! We are considering having them cater my sons birthday party. This is a new regular dinner establishment for our family. read more

Their smoked meats are amazing. Also, the chicken is sooo good and so are their sides. Even something as simple as Texas toast, totally nailed it! The lemonade is good too!! Super good food and service! read more

Just stopped in for lunch. I had the brisket tacos. I am hooked. Loved them, potato salad and mac and cheese equally good. Wife had the pulled pork sandwich. Said it was good but brisket was better. We will definitely return and recommend this place read more

I have been looking forward to trying City Barbeque for a while now after hearing the rave reviews from friends and also on this site. I'm sure I probably just went too late because when I arrived there about 8:45 it was saddening to find out they were out of ribs.....bummer and they only had one piece of 1/4 chicken left if I wanted that. I settled on the brisket and 1/4 chicken with macaroni and cheese and greens. The food was good but I think I wasn't as excited about it because I didn't get what I originally had my mind set on. The greens weren't chopped up enough for my liking but they were flavored good and the chicken could of been cooked a little more for my liking but overall I was pleased. A customer came in while I was there with her mind set on ribs and chicken also and she was disappointed that she too was unable to get what she desired. I guess running out of food can be seen as a good thing meaning business was great that day. Hopefully next time I will get the ribs and update my review with all smiles. read more

City Barbeque - Barbeque Near Me - Garner, North Carolina

Best bbq in the area. If you like Kansas City bow you will love this place. The peach cobbler is amazing.

First time eating here and I will definitely be back. Had the brisket and it was delicious. Very tender and juicy. My dad had the sausage and said it was pretty good besides the skin being a little tough. I also had the collards and the potato salad. The collards were a little spicy but still delicious. The potato salad was good as well but not as good as the collards. My dad had the mac cheese and said it was great. Walk in and order at the register and wait for your order. Didn't take long at all and you could tell everything was fresh. 5 out of 5 stars read more

We really enjoyed the food and sauce selection. We shared a two meat plate with two sides which was plenty for lunch! We had it at a catered event and they had fried onions for the macaroni & cheese which was really good. The lunch plate didn't have the crunchy onions and I was disappointed-next time I will ask. read more

I am a huge fan of Barbecue and after being disappointed by Carolina Barbecue I was glad when they moved in. Place is very nice, clean, and friendly staff. Owner often comes around and checks on food and service. I have only ordered the pork and beef brisket sandwiches and they have both been excellent. Very decent portions, well seasoned and moist meat. The sides are generous (fries can feed 2 or more people). Everything we have ordered so far has been great, and never had any reason to send food back. It can get busy at lunch times so plan ahead! read more

I love this place. The food is outstanding. Nice smoke, great flavor and some of the best customer service of all time. I had given up on BBQ in Raleigh. It was ok but nothing stood out. This place rules. Their pulled pork is amazing, team that with the swine wine and you got a winner. The ribs and brisket are to die for. Normally I don't waste time with sides but theirs are fantastic. Corn pudding, baked beans and brisket, gumbo, cukes and onions are all some that I have tried, none of them dissapointed. Try this place and your tastebuds will thank you. read more

Good food and it comes out in a timely manner! Prices are right for the portions! We will return

Food was ok, brisket was very good. A bit pricey but overlooked that for a nice dinner for myself and my husband. However don't come anywhere near closing time, you will feel rushed to eat and they will even shut down the self serve drink station before everyone is out. Like 5 minutes before I hey lock the doors with customers still eating. Never came asked if we would like a refill before turning it off. Be careful without the nozzles it will spray everywhere and on you. It might be another 10years before coming back. read more

The wife and I decided to give this place a try. They let you sample everything, so I was able to sample the beef brisket beforehand to make sure it was up to snuff (in my experience, lots of places screw brisket up). It was what I was hoping for. They let the meat and smoke do their job. It was moist and tasty. Their baked beans were awesome, and the Mac& cheese, corn pudding, and potato salad were good too. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the potato salad, but I'm not a huge potato salad guy anyways. We will be back to sample more of the menu. read more

Been twice now. Brisket was tasty, but the Barbecue chicken was pretty bad, overcooked and dried out, which they tried to cover up with gravy! The sauces are easy to heavy on the molasses for my taste too. On the whole, just "alright", there's better BBQ places in Wake County... read more

We enjoyed a great meal. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. The meats were well seasoned and the sides delicious!

Yum! So far the brisket sandwich is my favorite! The Brisket is very good. I've had better ribs as far as the quality of meat is concerned but their marinade is very good. The sides are tasty too, green beans and Cole slaw are very good. We have done takeout several times and they get everything right. read more

I don't usually go to chain restaurants, but I heard good things about City Barbeque back in March 2016, so I gave them a try. I was impressed with the quality of the food and the service, so I have been back multiple times. My favorite is the beef brisket --- super tender & good, smoke flavor. I always get it on a bun. Personally, I think that the sandwich is pretty big, and it fills me up if I get a side to go with it. I like to put the brush fire sauce, which is a bit spicy, on my sandwich. My favorite side is the corn pudding --- love the stuff. The potato salad has good flavor, but it has hard boiled egg in it, and those gross me out. The French fries are pretty good. The baked beans are really tasty, and they have pieces of the brisket in them. My boyfriend usually gets the pulled pork and really likes it. He adds the vinegar sauce to it. The banana pudding is delicious, so I order it when I am being decadent. I have had their ribs once, and they were super tender --- fell right off of the bone. Their lemonade is worth drinking. It is definitely worth it to download their app. You get a free drink for your first visit and free chocolate cake after your second visit. I let the chocolate cake reward expire --- damn it! Your third visit gets you a $5 off reward. After that, you earn a point for every dollar you spend. I don't eat there that often, but I already early two $5 off rewards. You get double points on Monday which is a great excuse to not cook. read more

Omg!!! Was in town in business. Kinda stumbled upon this place and didn't know what to expect. I got the Lolos Pork. Got hush puppies and potato salad. It was all to die for.
