    Brisket
    Allan A.

Brisket was tasty, tender accompanied by corn pudding. Like that they offer this as a side. The sandwich was a 3+ as they did not toast the bun as requested and the meat was cold. Have it a4 as the potential is there.

Lunch today at City BBQ in Garner, North Carolina. I'm just going to say that I enjoyed my lunch although it wasn't the best BBQ I've ever had, it wasn't the worst either. My husband absolutely did not like his lunch and will not be going back. The restaurant was clean, friendly service and the portions were great. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Easy parking.

A friend and I drove 30 minutes to eat here; we would not do it again. Not because it is awful; it's not. It is just quite mediocre. My friend had the 3 meat platter (with creamy coleslaw and cornbread) and I had a half rack with fried okra & cornbread. We agree that the cornbread was tasty; he said the creamy coleslaw and the sausage were the best things on the tray. I liked the fried okra. Everything was quite likable ... but nothing was remarkable. Nothing so incredibly unique or delicious that we would drive 30 minutes again for it.

I'm leaving 5 stars not only for the delicious barbecue but also for the amazing customer service from the team on shift at 5pm Sunday (9/21). I had placed a very large order two hours prior, but they ran out of ribs :(. The staff immediately stepped up--offering me either a refund or comparable substitutes, which I went with because I needed to feed an army. Truly appreciated it! I picked up the order and set up a whole spread, and it turned out to be a fan favorite! Everything was flavorful, generous, and served with care. The way the team handled the situation made all the difference, and I'll definitely be ordering again.

City barbecue some of the best stuff around stopped here after work on the way to SC with the crew first time here very tasty very clean and awesome customer service. Easy in and out in the parking lot for the work van can wait to get back!

The service here was nice. The cashier was friendly and attentive while we ordered and so was the person who gave us our food. The place isn't too loud which allows you to have a nice conversation with the person across from you without having to yell. As for the food, it could he better. We ordered the beef brisket and felt it was missing something. It wasn't the worst sandwich but it did seem a little bit dry. We did love the mac and cheese though, and could definitely return for it. The place could also use some cleaning up, as the floors were dirt and some tables were sticky. I do think the place has potential and could definitely shine with a little work.

The restaurant is very nice on the inside, set up like other bbq restaurants where you order and then pick up at the counter before sitting in the dining room. The service is good, no issues with the ordering or pickup process. The food was ok. The brisket sandwich was good together with some added bbq sauce but a little messy and when I ate a piece of brisket by itself, it was extremely dry and hard to swallow. The Mac and cheese was a little dry as well. I know it was likely baked but there was zero creaminess to it. Overall not horrible, I'll try it again and get something different but not overly impressed with what I got today.

Smoked Turkey, 3-Cheese Baked Mac & Hush Puppy

Ordered via ubereats and my food arrived warm & fresh. I enjoyed the smoke turkey as it was seasoned well and to my surprise the Mac & Cheese wasn't bad. Didn't like the hush puppies at all- too greasy.

I was surprised it was actually good. The greens and I think I got some good type of trio. I will go back.

I had no clue what to expect being a first time patron. My spouse had been here several times and was always raving about how good it was. The stars aligned and we finally made it during a meal time. We came in and ordered and paid at the counter, found our seats, and then waited while our food was being prepared. There's something to see on every wall, and you can tell they know what they're doing with all of the trophies on display that they've won throughout the years. The indoor seating isn't too ample, so don't plan a family reunion, but it can hold a few families at dinner time. There's not a bad meat on the menu. If you're a vegetarian, this is not your new favorite spot. We got their brisket, chicken leg, and smoked turkey. The sauces at the table were tasty, and everyone found a favorite. We were thankful for the ample supply of paper towels, because our littles chowed down and needed to be wiped clean. This Redneck BBQ Lab knows what they're doing. On this particular night, they had too many leftover chicken halves towards the end of the evening, and were selling them half off, so we ate our food, and then got chicken to go for a future meal. Stop in and try it sometime.

You git yer choice of their house sawses. Their Grand Champion Sawse, which is a smoky-tangy-sweet, or Competition Sawse, which is "tangy-sweet w/a little heat" (I didn't find it "hot" but I'm used t'eatin' jalapenos) or the North Carolina Sawse, which is yer Tarheel Vinegar style. They're all good, and I et a bit o each, but the Competition Sawse is prolly my fave. The food is very reasonably priced, especially for bbq, and you won't spend n arm n a leg if'n ya eat here. The string beans and cabbage were as routine as possible. Seemingly no different than what you'd find at Cracker Barrel or a Bob Evans. But the hush puppies were some of the best I've ever had. Soft and flavorful on the inside; firm, with a mild crunch on the out. They didn't have the sandwich I wanted so I asked for a bun to make my own. And I did. I actually got emotional over the pork BBQ the 1st time I had it. Lets say I'm very far away from being a kid, but the taste and flavor reminded me of being a kid and having fresh homemade BBQ from my grandad. I am born and raised here in a part of town between Raleigh, and Durham. I always felt I'ved had the best in both cities growing up and as an adult. I ordered a combo plate of chicken pastry and bbq pork, with sides of fried okra and potato salad. Everything was served piping hot, just as it should be. The Chicken Pastry (chicken and dumplings) had wonderful flavor and was comfort food at its finest with thick and wide chewy noodle dumplings. So often chicken and dumpling dishes can be overly salty but Ole Time Barbecue's was perfectly seasoned. The barbecue pork also had great flavor and also was seasoned perfectly, though unfortunately I can't do even the most mild of spicy, so even tho there were only a few red pepper flakes, they made it a little bit challenging for me to eat. The fried okra was cooked and seasoned perfectly and not at all oily and the potato salad was also really tasty. I also tasted their coleslaw and mac and cheese from Hubs dinner and both were delicious as well. Also loved their sweet tea, I got it 25% sweet . The biggest surprise was the large basket of tasty hush puppies brought to our table the minute we sat down, and refilled. Also delicious and seasoned perfectly. The location is very homey and diner like, with just a handful of tables so you may have to wait, though luckily we didn't. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was they served their sides in styrofoam containers versus reusable dishes like they use for their main courses. I do love that they're using reusable dishes for their mains so it seems like they could also do this for their sides. Less trash for the restaurant and better for the world... .
