The owners are so sweet and friendly! I had a garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese and one with butter. Both were filled and the bagels tasted freshly made. I was given a chocolate chip bagel to try as well which was very kind of them and it was also good, the bagel was soft and again tasted freshly made. It's nice and bright inside and theres a good amount of seating. There's also outdoor seats where you can sit and enjoy your order.

Cute lil bagel shop with lots of options to choose from. We'd never been here before so thought we'd give it a shot. My jalapeño bagel was delicious and fresh. Service was quick. Very centrally located to shopping and other things. I'd definitely come back again if I was in the area.

I love this place. The spreads and cream cheeses are top tier (strawberry cream cheese is a favorite of mine). The food is always fresh, reasonably priced, and yummy. Family owned business so you see the same staff and they're all friendly and competent

Best sesame bagel I've had in years. The lox cream cheese is made fresh each morning and is delicious. Service is super friendly, Edward & Stella are great people. The interior is super clean and well laid out.p

But it's either closed or parking is impossible or the street is overrun with police. Or worse yet - all 3. Last week however, it was open, bumping with people, and there were available spaces. Federales were still patrolling but I was locked in on carbohydrate comfort and thus unbothered. I dipped in for a couple coffees and sweets. It was about 1030 and we were headed to lunch afterwards so I kept it simple. I really wanted the malted latte but called an audible at the last second for a Paloma refresher. I also grabbed a rye (!) chocolate chunk cookie and an apple cake muffin. If we weren't going to lunch I would have ordered the avocado toast. It sounded delicious and while I was there a customer got one and it looked incredible! I really liked the food here - it was understated. I feel like a lot of bakeries hit you with cloying sweetness because bakery but anyone can dump a bunch of sugar in something - AND I ADORE SUGAR. But the restraint shone here really allowed the flavors to shine through and the food didn't sit like bricks in our tums. Very lively space with ample seating inside and out - I'd really like to come back on a day I'm playing hooky from work. Which given the state of my mental health could be as early as tomorrow. They're closed on Mondays though so let me pull myself together ;)

For a place with "artisan" in the name, the coffee simply didn't deliver. We paid about $12.50 for two 12 oz. drinks, which is definitely on the pricier side. My malted salted latte tasted pretty bland, lacking the distinct flavor punch I expected. My wife ordered an iced Americano, and she found it wasn't nearly strong enough for her liking. Given the branding and the premium cost, we were expecting a much bolder, higher-quality flavor. The issue likely stems from the service. There was a bit of chaos behind the counter while we waited. Two different employees handled our order and seemed to be actively trying to figure out how to make the drinks. It was pretty clear there was some confusion back there, and something must have been missed in the process. The bakery items and sandwiches looked good, but the drink execution and value just weren't there on this visit. Three stars for now.

Or a buffet that no longer buffets. But pizza is a big part of their menu and a lot of people order it. I can tell you, from sight alone... I wouldn't call it pizza. It's cheese, toppings, and an extremely flat crust that I can only imagine crunches to smithereens. So I went very much with not pizza. Fortunately, the menu goes many other directions. I got a hot chicken sandwich with Cajun fries, basically regular fries with a little seasoning sprinkled on (not baked in). Took a little while to get to us, but once it did, I was impressed with the spice level. This is not for the faint of tongue. The fries were perfectly cooked, but I would say just get plain fries if that's your vibe. I could have upgraded to onion rings or similar, wasn't feeling quite hungry enough for that venture. Verdict: I don't know. It's not a diner. It's not a pizzeria. Definitely seemed kid-friendly. I think my date liked this place more than I did. So again, I'll go with the balance and stick 4 stars on the wall. Could return, not sure what else in Flemington might attract (seems fairly restaurant-barren).

The food here is to-die for, and is certainly one of the best restaurants in the area. I have friends who visit from out of town who specifically request to go to Blue Fish during their stay! The prices are great for the quality of the food. I always opt for the build-your-own entree. This time, I chose the brisket with a side of the caramelized plantains, but I also often go with the chicken, steak, or salmon with the pesto butter. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong. The staff are very kind and the service is quick. The interior is modern and up-to-date, paralleled by its brick historic vibe exterior, as the Stangl Factory building was once a pottery/ceramic factory. Now, the building is home to Blue Fish Grill, as well as a number of other businesses including an artist-owned gallery, a large pottery studio, a medium, and a yoga and physical therapy studio. Stangl also hosts a weekly artisan farmers' market and bi-monthly live music and art events. It really is a growing creative community. Blue Fish Grill doesn't have a bar, but they do allow BYOB. If you find yourself in the Flemington area, be sure to grab a bite at Blue Fish! It will surely be a meal to remember.

However, my recent Sunday visit was a vaguely "meh" experience due to some disappointing service. We found out the hard way -- only after being seated, handed menus, and perusing our options -- that they strictly observe their "Breakfast Only" rule on Sundays. I was really craving a sandwich (having already eaten eggs earlier in the day), but when I asked for an accommodation, I got a blunt "No, we can't do that. We only serve breakfast on Sunday." I mentioned I was lactose-intolerant and almost all of the breakfast options (omelets, breakfast burger, etc.) were made with milk or cheese, but our server said the kitchen doesn't like making substitutions. This felt especially draconian considering there was only one other party seated in the restaurant at the time. To make matters worse, once I settled on a two-egg breakfast platter, the server informed me they were out of my first two meat preferences. My dining companion's omelete was served without key ingredients she added (and we were probably charged for). Our server never dropped off a check, so I walked up to the counter to pay after finishing our meal. Our server seemed genuinely surprised when I handed her enough cash to cover what she said our total was.. plus a ~20% tip (which I paid in spite of the service issues because I'm not a barbarian). The food itself was alright once it arrived, but the service just felt disjointed and "off" the entire time. It's a decent enough spot for the basics, but between the total lack of flexibility and the service hiccups, I'll say 2.5 stars rounded down to 2 stars and definitely won't try again next time I'm in Flemington. PRO TIP: They don't offer complimentary tap water with your meal, but they are happy to sell you a 16 oz plastic bottle of Poland Spring.

This was our first time at their new location. We opted to not use their valet parking service and instead found free street parking not too far away. I chose the Vanilla Cookie tea which was lovely and would be a redo for me. I wasn't wild about the selection of scones for the day but I enjoyed my peanut butter candied almond scone. The scones come with sides of lemon curd, preserves, and clotted cream. Even sandwiches that I was a little leery of were delicious! The "Tea Sweets" were also yummy but I was so full I ended up taking most of them home and my husband ate them on me.
