    Cisco plate.

I have to imagine there are over 200 places to get a good, fun, filling plate of Tex Mex in Austin. 6th Street heading east has a ton of them. Cisco's has been around for scores. Looks like an old school luncheonette. I had dinner- their namesake dish and some guacamole. It was delish. I look forward to going back.

This place was a nice well rounded tex mex spot. The fajita plates are big. Plus the rice and beans on the sides are actually good. Not a lot of places put care into that. We ordered a biscuit to try and it was one of the better biscuits I've had. Not very dry. The prices here are reasonable especially for where this restaurant is located.

Loved this place. I was in the mood for migas and the waitress recommended that I add chorizo to it. I read about their delicious biscuits, so I ordered the migas in a biscuit. I chose to have the biscuit grilled. The migas was prepared perfectly with crispy corn tortillas, and the chorizo was a great addition. I always add cheese to my migas. It's a charming little spot on 6th street, but the service is excellent and the food is everything you want from a TexMex restaurant and more.

Cisco's Restaurant, Bar & Bakery - East Austin. A true East Austin institution with 75 years of history and family-run charm, Cisco's definitely earns points for nostalgia and character. The space is tiny but quaint, filled with old-school Tex-Mex vibes that make you feel like you've stepped into a slice of Austin's past. I ordered the carne guisada and migas tacos with water * both were okay, but lacked the bold flavor I was hoping for. The tortillas weren't homemade, which surprised me given how long this place has been around. I remember having a similar experience years ago, so maybe I just haven't found my go-to order here yet. Parking was a headache; honestly spent more time circling the block than sitting down to eat. That said, the waitress was lovely and attentive, and the festive, colorful interior added a nice touch to the overall experience. Cisco's is undeniably cool for its legacy and local roots, but I'd love to see the tortillas elevated to match the heritage. Not sure if I'll be back, but I respect what they represent in Austin's food scene.

Really enjoyed grabbing breakfast here! The housemade biscuits are delicious and I love the diner feel. Service was also fast! My only complaint was that they were playing EDM first thing in the morning and wasn't sure if that was creating the best atmosphere

Cisco's never disappoints! Highly recommend for breakfast, but tried their spot for dinner tonight. We tried a bowl of tortilla soup and a fajita plate. The tortilla soup was fantastic and will definitely be back for more. Its always fun to visit this classic Austin gem (locally owned) still featuring some of the original decor that makes Austin so special.

I absolutely love this legendary diner that goes far back into the old Austin history and culture. Can I just start by saying how nice everyone is here? Like literally the sweetest people work there. And they take such good care of their customers. I mean just look at my queso pic. It's nice to go somewhere and be treated like family. The food blows my socks off. There isn't anything on the menu that I wouldn't recommend. In fact, I'd suggest ordering everything all at once. Too bad that's not possible for our stomachs to handle. Heck, that just means multiple visits to one of the best places on the planet.

The last time I ate here was in the 1980s. Very good - enjoyed the migas breakfast plate. Glad to be back.

How have I lived in Austin for 12 years and never been to Cisco's? The place is bigger than it looks and features a cute diner style area as well as a couple of dining rooms. Our server was super friendly and answered all of our questions as we perused the menu. We started off by trying the Salsa Toxica. It's their spicy salsa but has a really unique flavor. Then we ordered the Migas and the Huevos Rancheros. The migas were full of chips and veggies and the ranchero sauce was lovely. After seeing the kitchen staff pulling fresh, house-made biscuits out of the oven, we knew we had to try them as well. I never thought I would say this, but one of the best biscuits I've ever had is from a Mexican restaurant. You absolutely have to try them!! They have such a lovely flavor and consistency. I truly look forward to returning to Cisco's for more meals and more biscuits!

We came for brunch, to meet up with friends who hadn't been here since their youth. They stated that the food taste has somewhat dropped from what they remember. Perhaps due to new cooks and such. Regardless, we thought our food was of satisfactory Tex-Mex quality. This large yet cramped restaurant felt somewhat loud as we made our way to the back section for our seats. It is an old building, in the old part of the city, with dated seating. They have a lot of different pictures and such on their walls that I kept glancing at as I made my way to my seat. These added details adds charm to the ambiance. If you're going for top-notch food, this may not be the place.

Burnt taco shell and 8$ velveta cheese. Not worth it at all. Chips were also stale.

Worst place don't come- 8$ velveta cheese- just a total let down and a waste of money

Ciscos is an all time classic on the east side. One of the few classic cafes around that has not budged on their classic dishes. Still high quality and made to order, I've always enjoyed the huevos rancheros or the pancake plate with a Mexican cook. Really cool digs and vibes inside!

Old school Tex-Mex You come here for the vibe. And the food, which is part of the vibe, and pretty much exactly what you'd expect from classic Austin Tex-Mex. Decent sized portions (ok, sometimes huge), and very happy-making. Great service took so if you don't want to stand in the infinite lines in the nearby places, eat here!!

Unfortunately, the kitchen just wasn't on their game this day. We went for brunch and it is a lovely restaurant with some amazing looking pastries. My ratings of the food we got are below. Overall, everything was just okay and not something I would order again. Our order: Salami and cheese - 1/10, not even edible with how much olive oil they dumped on it. Hard cheese and meat. None of us touched it. Frites - 9/10, hard to go wrong here. Nice and crispy French cruller - 7/10, I think this is just personal presence here I wished it was warmed up. Flavor was good but it was a little dry. Burger - 5/10, the flavor is there and definitely has potential but it was so bloody and rare which is not what we asked for. My friend has a gluten allergy and she asked for the burger lettuce wrapped and it just came on top of a huge chunk of iceberg so wouldn't recommend that if you want it lettuce wrapped. Chicken sandwich - 8/10, this was good with a nice crispy chicken. It could have used something sweet to balance the spice though it was a little one dimensional.

We were both starving and this place is open 24/7. I drove by it for 20 years on the way to Avenue Barber Shop. I wanted shredded beef tacos but couldn't get them without cilantro so I chose shredded beef enchiladas (with an $8!) side of chips and salsa. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. She requested soft eggs, as she always does because too many places overcook them. The chips and salsa arrived. I was immediately disappointed. The menu said "we make our own chips." They were thick and yellow and appeared to be run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips. I prefer the thin white ones. I took one bite of salsa, and that was one bite too many. Cumin. I pushed it all aside. Cumin doesn't belong in salsa. (Sorry. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.) My enchiladas came with black beans, and there was cumin in them. Cumin is overused and abused in most restaurants. I couldn't eat them. The rice was good but the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was not. I scraped most of the sauce off and ate one enchilada, mainly because I just needed something in my stomach. We were still 45 miles from home. I pushed my plate away. I also ordered coffee. One sip of that was all I could stand. Too weak for me. It gets worse, much worse. My wife's eggs were barely cooked. She asked the waiter for some cooked eggs. He took her plate and returned about four minutes later. The eggs were still not cooked. She tried another bite but couldn't eat them. Her bacon was tough as a boot and not chewable. The home fries were average, but by the time her plate arrived at our table for the second time, they were cold. I pulled my card out waiting for our excellent server to return. He asked how everything was (he had to notice two plates still covered with food) and we politely told him. I ate one enchilada and some rice. My wife had two bites of egg and two bites of potato. He apologized and handed me the check. $65. Nothing comped and nothing adjusted. A manager should've been summoned. How does a place like this have any customers? It was our first and last visit.
