I was pretty excited to try this place after I saw the reviews but I'm a little disappointed. I was even more excited after seeing the pictures of the place because it looked so amazing. Was expecting much better but it was honestly average. Starting with the cons, the icing was not that good. It wasn't sweet at all, tasted a little sour. I would recommend Cinnabon over this place. Pros: the toppings. I got the cookie cinnamon roll. The cookie dough was pretty good though. Not overly sweet but still soft. Another pro is that the cashier was nice. They answer any questions you have and it didn't take too long to get my roll after I ordered it. Overall, I would say try this place if you haven't. You might have a different experience than me. Located at the Rotunda, there is plenty of parking and it is easy to get to. We never come here just for Cinnaholic, but if we are in the area for other things, we may indulge ourselves. My usual go to is a plain cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting on the side. The cinnamon roll is good! Especially warmed up. It is a little too sweet for me which is why I get the frosting on the side. I think I still prefer the mounds of butter that Cinnabon uses if I am going to go all out on a dessert, but this will satisfy the sweet tooth. Most recently, my husband got the Cinnastack which is a cinnamon roll with frosting with a scoop of cookie dough on top, then it was sprinkled with chocolate chips and oreo pieces. I've been here a few times and I've only had the original cinnamon rolls with cream cheese, they're delicious! However yesterday was my first time having an off putting experience. I decided to order a half dozen of mini rolls to take to my family during a time of grieving. Before I placed the order online I called and spoke with a man that stated that if I needed a dozen or more of the mini rolls that I would need to order online as they do not have large quantities in store. He also stated that the mini rolls have to be baked and come 3 for $5. I got off the phone I placed my order for a half dozen online. When I get to the store and the guy places my order on the counter it's the complete opposite of what I expected and not to mention what is shown/stated online. The employee gave me two packs of mini rolls, rolled up in a clear plastic bag and two small containers of cream cheese icing. Online it shows a picture of the mini rolls in boxes! Also the cream cheese is on there! When I said that to him, he threw his hand up and said "well that's how they come." He literally just stood there and waited for me to just accept that. I asked for a box and he told me he could just give me a container (the same one that the individual cinnamon roll comes in). I let him know that I was taking these to people, and he said that was all he could give me. I am standing there with two rolled packs of cinnamon rolls, an individual roll and cream cheese containers. He did not offer me a bag, so I asked for one he then says it's 15 cent...I said okkkk I still need a bag how am I to carry all of this? I got a juice out the refrigerator, paid and waited for a receipt. The employee stared at me until I asked for one and he said I should have it in my email. This whole encounter was OFF and I did not like it. There was no greeting and no thank you have a great day or come again. Just think if YOU ordered what you thought would be a nice thoughtful snack for a small group of grieving people INCLUDING YOURSELF and when you get it, it's not as described. The website says nothing about building my own MINI CINNAMON ROLLS. Even once I said that to the employee, I should have been accommodated. This just left a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard to believe this company would want their products presented rolled up in plastic bags, no label or anything. Sure the lines were a little long, but what would you honestly expect on opening day? It would've been more alarming to see no line. At any rate, Cinnaholic-Hampden was well staffed and the long line didn't seem that bad because it moved rather quickly! Almost 20 bucks for a medium sized roll? Ok, wow, they must be pretty good. Finally we get our rolls and dig in. Mine actually tasted like poison, that is the only way I can describe it. My husband said his was OK so I took a bite and it was just that, OK. He didn't believe me that mine tasted like poison, so he tried it and spit it out. Simple cinnamon roll. It was not nasty by any means, but it wasn't knock my socks off good. I didn't even eat all of mine. The bun itself was slightly doughy with a hint of cinnamon. The topping was lightly sweetened and tasted like a cream cheese base. I wanted it to be baked a little more so that the entire thing tasted like it came piping hot out of the oven. Those with dairy allergies know how hard it is to find good non-dairy desert options but vegan restaurants and bakeries are wonderful, and this shop was a good example! I got a cinnamon roll with maple icing and pecans on top. Teen A got one with maple icing and "oreo" topping. Teen B got orange icing and both chocolate syrup and chocolate chips. The hubby got a green tea frosted one. I loved mine, but Teen B's was a "very close second". I have seen reviews complaining that this place is pricey. It was a 5.25 base price plus .25-.5 for each thing added. This is, to me, what I consider reasonable pricing for "a treat". The staff was friendly and the site was clean and smelled delicious. The staff is great, and they even let us use our tiffin (they don't have regular plates, only styrofoam, or a compostable box or styrofoam box). They took their time explaining every flavor and allowed me to sample different icings to find the best fit. Went to Cinnaholic the other day for the first time and loved it! Once you open the door you are greater by bright purple walls and the rich steel of cinnamon rolls. They're displays are very appealing but I would have liked to know what was on each displayed cinnamon roll without having to ask. I ordered the good karma roll and it was delicious! Once I opened the container I was surprised by how much was on top of my roll. The only thing I wish they had done was make the cinnamon roll warmer. Whether you're vegan or not, you'll appreciate how delicious these buns are and the fact they're made fresh while you wait. OMG Cinnaholic is ridiculously good. I'm not vegan and can honestly say these cinnamon rolls FAR out pass Cinnabon. Like Pluto far. I got the Apple Pie Flavor and now pie is ruined for me forever, so is my waistline because I'm coming back every day. Okay wow!! I was so so impressed by this place. Some friends who are regulars recommended it, and I was instantly interested when I heard it was vegan. I'm not a full-on practicing vegan, but I enjoy trying vegan food and working in plant based meals to my diet.
