Wait time was a standard 15 min on a busy Friday night. Hostess was very nice but obviously very busy as well. As mentioned by nearly everyone, the place is loud! Many tables packed into a tight formation makes it so you have to have a louder than normal conversation. The food was good, nothing particularly special but everyone was satisfied at the table. We ordered a mango margarita which was also good. Price was very reasonable. Standouts for me were the excellent service, wait staff and hostess were busy but very friendly. I will definitely go back soon to see if I can find my GO-TO order. Recommended over the BBQ restaurant and Gators Dockside just a few spots over if you are looking for food. This is not Mexican food and the owner is completely inflexible in accommodating patrons with unusual dietary needs. Mexican food does not have white American cheese as an ingredient. There is a real problem in this area with a lack of authentic Mexican food. I lived in California for 45 years so maybe I'm just spoiled, but if I want Mexican food, I have to make it myself. We love this place! Their Queso Ranchero (Queso with seasoned beef) is the best. The Queso with chorizo is good but the beef is better. I can eat my weight in that stuff and rarely have room for dinner. I usually just get their beef tostada. I normally don't care much for ground beef at Mexican restaurants but theirs is very tasty! Warning - their burrito Panzon is HUGE! It was 3 meals for me. Margaritas are good too. Fajitas are ample sized and tasty too. We highly recommend this place! read more

We live nearby and have been to this place a number of times. With each visit we noted things had gone downhill. Went again this week. Until now, the WORST Mexican food I ever had in my many senior years was at a place in a rural town in Maryland. Cinco de Mayo has now taken this dubious honor. Taco salad consistent of a marginally acceptable shell fill with a mashed bean / ground meat "mush" covered with two tomato slices and a small smattering of lettuce on top. I ate less than half and threw the rest away. Same for my wife's quesadilla. She grew up in California and knows good Mexican food. Filled with dry flavorless chicken and "clumps" of cheese; nothing else. She threw it away. Black beans: barely cooked. In these times we always order take out. Most of our meal went into the trash. Restaurants need to understand when one orders a meal in and the food is not "right", customers often will speak up and they have a chance to "right" the situation and "win back" the customer. With take out, there's no second chance. We will never visit Cinco de Mayo again. read more

This place has decent Mexican in the World Golf village area. We've been here several times not because we live nearby, but we're in the area a lot. It's on par with other standard Mexican places in the area, but we haven't found anything standout as of yet. Definitely prefer dining in here. This restaurant is close to home so I'm happy to say there is a margarita in my future on a pretty regular basis. That being said, the service was horrible. It took about 15 minutes for a waiter just to come over and greet us. Another 10 minutes after that to put in a drink order. The margaritas were good, not as strong as we had hoped. The fresh salsa and chips are wonderful! And the food was good. I got shrimp tacos which came with three tacos packed full of shrimp, and my love got the shrimp fajitas. Seriously disappointing first and only experience.I ordered queso and a fajita beef quesadilla. I had to send the quesadilla back because it was literally swimming in oil, and was not edible due to the amount of grease. The tortilla was overfilled and was more like a soft taco dish instead of a quesadilla. Looked nothing like the little example photo they provide on the menu that looks like a traditional quesadilla. Hurricane's Wing Bar makes a better quesadilla and they're a WING bar! I replaced it with the shrimp fajitas and that was equally disappointing. The shrimp were so overcooked I could have bounced them off the walls like rubber balls. The queso was at least good. Ok, first off I don't like leaving less than five star reviews and typically it is in an effort to help the Managment improve. First, the wait staff have been accommodating the few times we have been so no issues there. The food however is underwhelming. It is not bad, just tastes like every other commercialized Mexican restaurant. I feel the food is lacking flavor and authenticity. The only reason this place is still in business is it's the only Mexican restaurant for miles in a densely populated area. If an authentic Mexican restaurant opened in the area I feel this place would dry up and blow away. If the food got a makeover this place would be great. Perhaps run some specials to try out new recipes? This way you can find what people like. Let the customers know you want HONEST feedback to see if it becomes part of the menus. We are regular customers. My Husband converses in Spanish with the staff, we live in the Neighborhood. We always tip the staff significantly over 20%. We arrived at 8:45 on a Sunday evening for a fast dinner and we were told to leave since they close at 9:00. We told them that this is the LAST time we would ever go there. I went here for dinner with some family while I was in town. Overall, the food was very good. The chips and salsa was good, and my burrito (special #11) was very good. They just don't seem to have it together. I placed a takeout order and was told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. No problem. I arrived at the 25 minute mark and proceeded to sit at the bar waiting for another 25 minutes. Once I was told "it's almost ready", but still waited another 15 minutes or so. The entire point of getting takeout was avoiding being inside, so thanks there. The place is nice but tables are packed in tight, which makes for a loud atmosphere but also plenty of seating and can accommodate larger parties. Service was okay, nothing special. The food was good but I think I must have found the best item on the menu as my entree, Enchilada Rancheras, was superior to my other parties' food. But it's like, I'm going to dream of this meal, kind of delicious. Neighboring patrons were enjoying beer on tap and margaritas, which I can't attest to. Chips and salsa on the table was good but never replenished. My son ordered off the adult menu and got the burrito Special #11 with beef and was disappointed it wasn't ground beef like he was anticipating. We come here often but it hasn't been as good- tonight there were 4-5 flies flying around the restaurant. Also- a server came on her shift and continually kept flipping her head up and down and put her hair up and down right at the bar area- she would flip her head- put it in a pony tail then take her hair down and shake it - and put it up again- she had long curly hair- I couldn't believe she was doing this near food and customers- other severs walked up to talk to her and no one said anything to her.
