This place has delicious food. It's a small restaurant but they accommodated 9 of us on a Friday night. You won't find fancy tables and chairs but the service was pleasant. We ran into regular patrons who raved about the Chile Colorado. There was one server but she smiled, took care of us and the other tables so we made sure we tipped her well. The cost was reasonable. Went here with Frank M after the Aquarium of the Pacific. Originally we were supposed to go to the Omelette Inn but it was closed! And i'm glad it was.. otherwise we would have never stumbled upon this wonderful place!! Almost everything was great.. except for one of the waitresses who seemed to us.. as if she was hating on me!! HATER! hahaha. I'd still go back there though. The chips and salsa were good. I ordered the plate... with Chili Relleno, Enchilada, and Carnitas Taco with Rice and Beans. The restaurant is wonderfully homey and the staff friendly and profession. We love the homemade food. We have tried the chili rellenos and combo fajitas. Both are amazing. Cash only! Don't let that deter you though. This restaurant is simple and delicious. The menu is straightforward and gives you exactly what's on it. I would even go as far to say the portions are huge and we left full and happy! I went with the carne asada quesadilla. The cheese really sold me and size was pretty decent. I don't know what happened to this place. 3 years ago it was fantastic. Last year it was still decent. We were in the mood for street tacos last night, so we popped back over, and... the tacos we got - chicken, pork and beef equally - were all super greasy and mostly flavorless (and still 2 bucks plus tax). And yes, their horchata is definitely just mix from a machine - you can now see the machine. Idk what they do to the bacon to make it so flavorful but I need to know haha if you're in the area stop in! But, this restaurant is the one that's both affordable and delicious. I got their Asada Nachos and my friend got their Shrimp Nachos. Both fantastic. The cheese and meat was fantastic. One comment I would make is to cut up the shrimp so that its easier to scoop pieces of shrimp on the nacho chips. Also, FYI, its cash only. read more

In my opinion, if a restaurant is bold enough to name themselves after one of the biggest days of celebration in Mexico, they better be able to back up that name with delicious food and great service. Well, I have been to this hole in the wall Mexican food joint about 5 times (I live about 100 feet from here) and on each of my visits the food has been consistently delicious and the service has always been great. I have tried lots of the items on their menu. Carne asada enchiladas, carne asada burritos, and carniats tortas are among some of my favorite dishes at CDM. My most recent visit to CDM, which was the other morning, was to pick up some breakfast burritos for my family who were at my house for a visit. I called up CDM and placed an order for 6 breakfast burritos (2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 chorizo). It only took them about 10 minutes to have all 6 breakfast burritos prepared and ready to be picked up. The breakfast burritos were a big hit with my family, especially the chorizo burritos. In fact I ended up picking up 2 more chorizo burritos because my brother in law polished off the first two before anybody else had a chance to try them. Each burrito was huge and packed full of fluffy eggs, cheese, and meat. My only problems with CDM is that their chips and salsa are not that great, the chips have been stale on most of my visits, and they only take cash. The prices here are great. Every time I have eaten here by myself the bill was never over ten dollars. If you ever in the LB area, and your in the mood for some good, cheap, Mexican food then check out CDM. read more

CASH ONLY! Decided to try this place out for lunch after hearing some good reviews from coworkers. Prices were cheaper than what you would find at most sit down mexican restaurants. I ordered a steak quesadilla for $5. Four pieces. Too much cheese and too little steak which I guess is why it's only $5. I tried the wet chicken burrito and all I tasted was beans. Service was great in the beginning, but towards the end the service became really slow. It took us a while to get our check and change for larger bills (they do not allow multiple transactions for a bigger party). +3 stars for average service, free chips + spicy salsa upon sitting (and free refills), plus decent prices. About 12 parking spots inside. Easy to park, but it's a little tough to get out seeing you will have to reverse the entire way out. Would not come here if you are on a time crunch as the food takes some time to come out and cashing out takes time. read more

I may not be the go to person when it comes to authentic Mexican food. But when you walk into a restaurant and see Mexicans eating there, that a good sign. The food is really great. Your classic "hole in the wall" Mexican place. That being said, you need to have one of these in your pocket for those days when you want some real Mex and a beer and you don't want any mariachis, women in off the shoulder blouses and roses in their hair, or two million types of tequila to choose from in a sports bar atmosphere..... this is a place to grab a quick bite in very chill surroundings with a no-nonsense flair - the place is way small - about 10 tables, but happily the chairs were not dinky (i hate cheap wobbly chairs) and the place was very clean. They don't have a full bar.. it is beer and soft drinks, but they have a little bar seating. The juke box plays all the Latin faves and the televisions are on Univision or Telemundo, I think... The camarones rancheros (shrimp in red sauce) were good as well as the enchilada's verdes.. (green with chicken) and they were very fast.. I didn't eat both those dishes, just one, but sampled the other off my friends plate :) one thing to note, the parking behind doesn't have much room and once you are in, you have to back out. There is parking on the side by the donut place (meter) if you find a spot and they are CASH ONLY - but they do have an ATM in there, which saved me - bcz i dont carry cash... Stayed down in Downtown Long Beach last night with an old friend and we needed something hearty for lunch. So, bust out the trusty iPhone and Yelp and "mexican" was what was typed. "Cinco De Mayo" was what popped up, go fish. This is a pretty legit little Mexican joint. Food seemed pretty fresh and most all that we enjoyed was tasty and flavorful. Chips were fresh, salsa was so-so, service was about what you would expect in a mom and pop place like this. You better order all you can when you see your waitress. :P Beers were $2.50 for domestic and $3.75 for import (from Mexico). Cokes and sodas were $2.00. My chicken burrito was only like $4.75 and her fajitas were around 10 bucks. Prices here were pretty cool but keep in mind it's CASH ONLY. There are about 5 free parking spots in the back, so good luck getting a spot. The rest of the parking is the street and you will have the joy of paying for that. But, Long Beach aint too bad on their parking prices. I think I need to try a few more items before I settle on a review score here. For now, 3.5 stars.... I really enjoyed my experience. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Suffers in comparison to other Mexican eateries nearby. I've been here a few times, always to get a bean and cheese burrito to go. The first time, the accompanying chips were horribly stale. I've eaten some stale chips in my time but these to me were inedible. They have little baggies of chips out prepared to pop in with an order, and I have to wonder how long these have been sitting out. In subsequent orders the chips have been ok, so I think that was just a fluke. The bean and cheese burritos themselves have been fine, but I keep forgetting to tell them to skip the iceberg lettuce "salad" that comes in the box. Because of the chips and "salad" it's over $6 for this and I just don't feel like it's a good value. Also, no salsa bar. The woman who always takes my order is really nice, though, and I keep coming back because of its convenient location to me, but I think I'm going to have to face the fact that we're just not compatible and I should walk the extra few blocks to somewhere that I do like. Plenty of other people seem to like them so maybe I should try some other items and see if I like those any better. read more

Ordered the carne asada burrito, wet. Decent. Nothing to write home about. Average. My buddies ordered the carnitas burrito and the carne asada. They didn't make any remarks. Yelpers -- please do yourself the honor of going to Enriques in LB or Los Compadres (either location). The food might be 10% higher cost -- but it really is worth it. I came here with a couple of friends on a weekday afternoon. The service was great. The server was patient, took her time with us, and gave us space. It's always nice to find those waiters and waitresses that know the healthy balance between giving space and remaining attentive. It seems like a nice place to go and relax after work. Have a few beers. Eat some Mexican food. What I had was a carnitas torta. I was not a fan of the carnitas in my torta. They didn't taste too fresh too me. However, the vegetables were quite fresh, and that is always a plus. Thinking back on it, maybe I would have enjoyed the carne asada better. I tasted something like vinegar or sour. But thankfully, hot sauce is the cure to all! Even without the hot sauce, it wasn't a bad torta at all. They don't do refills on horchata. Is that common? The horchata is really sweet and milky. This is a great local business. This is one of the favorite spots for our lunch crew to go to. Anyone expecting Americanized Mexican food will feel lost upon entering because this is straight up an authentic little Mexican joint. Their prices are very low and the food is delicious. One exception to the price thing is their fish and shrimp tostadas. They run you a little over $5 per, but they are huge and delicious and worth every penny. Only down side is the small parking lot during a busy lunch hour sometimes and the fact they don't take credit cards.
