I came across this pop-up at Epidemic Ales, though you can easily place an order with them on-line for any occasion​. My pecan tart was fresh with a flaky shell. For me, the shell of a small tart makes up half of the tart, so it was a plus that it was super duper fresh. The filling was made up equally of fresh nuts​ but did have a rather prominent taste of alcohol. Some pecan pies contain a bit of alcohol like rum or bourbon. I went on their homepage, and it looks like they also make a Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie. I'm assuming that the tart I got may have been a mini version of that. If you're averse to alcohol in your food, keep this in mind, at least when it comes to their pecan tartlets. Guilty Pleasures makes cupcakes​, cakes, ​pies, cookies and other nicely presented baked goods as well. I spied pre-packaged mixes of mini treats that can be purchased as a nice hostess gift that contained ​macarons, meringues, and what looked like small pumpkin tarts. I definitely enjoy my sweet treats, but with Guilty Pleasures, it's nice to know that with the smaller bites of desserts I can have them all, minus the guilt...sort of.

Individual desserts and such are really atheistically pleasing, but they are on the pricier end of things. Yet again, this is Lafayette, and of course, the precision and time that went into making all these baked goods.

So mind our awkwardness when we wanted the cake and the girl behind the counter asked "which hazelnut item" and you can't explain much more because the name of the item is just "hazelnut". We also got a scone and a couple of hazelnut chocolate croissants. I saw that they had the same exact quiche flavors as the Walnut Creek one and...they were way more deflated and thinner than the Walnut Creek ones. So I'm not sure if the intent is to be an imposter? When we got the takeout box, the sticker listed Lafayette and Alamo (but not Walnut Creek) which is when my husband looked into it only to find out it wasn't related to the Walnut Creek one... Anyways, when we got home, I noticed the hazelnut cake/mousse thing wasn't really made well. The shell is wayyyy too hard to break. I would've preferred it to be thinner. A fork should be able to break through it, not a knife...and the top of hazelnut was cracked as opposed to it needing to be completely sealed. On top of that, it was pretty sickly sweet that I was only able to eat half of it. I forfeited over the second half to my husband who said the same and he has a sweet tooth to begin with. To his words, his hazelnut chocolate croissant didn't taste much of either. Neither side was strong enough. So...next time, hard pass. I'll go back to the other Walnut Creek one. Maybe I'll try the Alamo one to see if it's better than Lafayette, but this place was disappointing.

My first impression was that the cookies were a little too crumbly, but that's actually what I ended up liking about them. The crumbs were so fine and smooth that the cookie almost felt like it was dissolving in my mouth. I also loved how the cookies weren't overly sweet. They made a really good snack. The shape was pretty simple, just a basic circular cookie, and the packaging was also very simple but has a cool retro look to it. My only real surprise was that each cookie is 110 calories!!! I was expecting it to be a little less, especially given the cookie felt so light when you were eating it. Overall, I really enjoyed these and would happily snack on them again.
