Very cute place for a date night, or even a first date. Very popular location downtown Phoenix. So be ready to wait half an hour to an hour depending on the time and date that you go. But if you do decide to go, they have a nice little bar inside and outside where you could wait why your name is called. They have many drink option so you can take it vantage with wines, bubbles, and beers. They do have a small variety of my mix drinks at both bars. They do have some indoor, seating, and some outdoor seating. We personally chose the outdoor seating since they did have enough heaters outside, and the lights and seating were beautiful. The inside looks just as nice. But I think it felt a little more romantic, being under the stars outside. It doesn't feel like you are in downtown Phoenix at all. It feels like you might be away in a quiet little quaint Italian restaurant. The staff was amazing, they were very fast and accommodating. They knew their job and they did it well. You had several runners, making sure that you had enough water or anything else that you may need. And you also have the server that would come very often to make sure that nothing else was needed. When the food finally came out. It was fresh, full of flavor, and you could tell someone took time to make this for you. The Woodfire pizza was perfectly baked. A perfect crisp on the crust, but just soft enough. The cheeseboard was fantastic and plentiful. And very filling. The prices are very comparable to anywhere downtown Phoenix. On a date for my wife and myself. With a bottle of wine we left they're spending no more than $75. Which I thought me for a great night. If you do happen to be in the area, or if you wanna have a nice night out with your friends or your significant other. This is definitely a place to go to. We loved our meal at Cibo! We came based off a friend's recommendation, and we were not disappointed. We had reservations at 4:30 PM and sat outside since it looked and felt so lovely. The street noise was pretty loud, but we got use to it. I believe our server's name was Tom (?), and he was great! Very helpful but not intrusive on our time. We felt well taken care of. We asked if they have a happy hour, and we were told they do not. "Every hour is happy hour." Aka no discounts at certain times of day. We ordered a bottle of their Pinot Noir since we were celebrating! This was delicious. Light and easy to sip on with our meal. It was $48 for the bottle. For food, we shared the meatball appetizer, an order of pasta, and their new cappuccino soft-served ice cream. This was all absolutely delicious!!! The meatballs were insanely flavorful and tender. We loved the red sauce, and even the bread was dynamite. It had a lovely charred flavor to it. The cacio e Pepe was also amazing. It was different from other variations we have tried since it had more of a soupy sauce, but we still thoroughly enjoyed it! You cannot beat fresh, homemade pasta. Met our neighbors here for happy hour after we called a week earlier for reservations. We arrived around 4 and was able to get a table under the trees in the courtyard. It was a perfect evening to sit outside. We started with an appetizer of 3 bruschetta and grilled veggies. The prosciutto and mozzarella was crunchy and a hint of salt. The white bean puree was good but the tomato and basil bruschetta was a homerun. The grilled veggies were spectacular and the variety was io abundant. We throughly enjoyed them and would highly recommend them. We enjoyed a wood oven pepperoni pizza with a thin crust but a good chew on the crust. The pizza had a bite but not overwhelming. A generous bowl of cacio y pepe pasta was creamy and delicious. The food was very tasty, ambience outstanding, and the company made it a beautiful evening. IMPECCABLE service, food, and ambiance!! i found this gem during my trip to arizona and left very impressed. called in to see if i could make a reservation for a friday night, but they don't allow that. when we arrived, we put our names down and waited for about 15 minutes. most of their seating was outdoors when i visited, but they have heat lamps so it was fine. you scan the QR code for your menu and they have a variety of different italian dishes. our server was so helpful and welcoming - overall great hospitality. the arancini was THE BEST i've had. very crispy outside, and very soft on the inside. the sauce was really good, too. we also tried a few other pastas and pizzas, all of which were really good too! definitely will come back if i'm ever in the area read more

I can't believe I've waited so long to eat here. Cibo is in a residential area west of central in downtown. It's charming, comfortable, and intimate. The lighting is perfect. A great patio. And the music sets the perfect ambiance. I checked open table and saw that there were a couple slots open within the hour so I figured "they must not be that busy"... wrong! I opted not to take the reservation and arrived to a packed house, wait times of 45 minutes or so. I added my name to the list and proceeded to stalk the open bar for the first available seat. The problem is everyone seemed so content, enjoying their wine and their dates, o one was budging from that bar. But after about 25 minutes I got my shot. I rudely rushed in before they bussed the seats or took the check. The bartender was completely understanding and accommodating. Bartender wasn't chatty per se. He was very busy and very focused on his job. But when I did engage him he reciprocated. I explained that I often don't like the meats at fancy pizza joints. Even places with great crusts and wood fired ovens often have what I perceive to be gamey meat (usually sopresetta or sausage). He assured me that would not be the case at Cibo. He was very passionate and insisted that this would be the best pizza in the entire hood. Mind you, this hood has amazing pizza. Pomo, Bianco, via Della, Ziggys, and even the Desmond all have fantastic pizza. I trusted his feedback and I got the sausage pizza. He was correct. The sausage was delicious. Sauce addictive. Crust exactly what you'd expect at a napolitano style joint. There was one thing he was incorrect about though. You see, I ordered a salad and a pizza and he told me I'd have left overs. Wrong! I ate everything (save for one small slice of shared with someone at the bar). It was too delicious. Speaking of the salad, I ordered the wrong one by mistake! They swapped it out without a moment of hesitation. I felt guilty as it was completely my fault. Absolutely top-notch service. I got the Omara salad which was greens, goat cheese, strawberry's, candied walnuts and vinaigrette. It was fantastic, if maybe just slightly underdressed. Strawberries and greens were fresh and delicious. For the salad I got mistakenly it came with these croutons that are easily the best croutons on earth. Maybe they were tempura!? Not sure but they were crispy buttery and just like no ever croutons I've ever had. I also had two glasses of wine. I was experimenting, wanting to drink Italian wine with the Italian food. I had a glass of Chianti for $8 (cheapest glass) and barbera for $12. I preferred the Chianti. It was pretty good on the tongue, maybe a little harsh in the throat. But it was great for the price. All in all, this might be the best pizza place in downtown. It easily stands its own against Bianco and Pomo, both of which I would give five stars to. And it beats any other pizza in the area handily. Add in the service and the ambiance, and I think Cibo would be my top choice! Especially for a date night. Don't be dumb like me and wait three years to eat here. If you're craving pizza and wine, run to Cibo asap. read more

One of my favorite Phoenix restaurant in terms of ambiance, taste and value. Cibo managed to nail every dish I ordered while remaining under $20. Like many others have said, make a reservation. Otherwise, come in before opening and wait in the Disneyland-esque line as a walk in. I did the latter and was fortunate enough to nab one of the few tables available. Service was extremely fast and friendly. Our appetizers were out before we even ordered our entrees. There were a few hiccups throughout the evening but they were properly dealt with. Our beverages weren't put in the system so we had to gently prompt our server and he apologized profusely. Secondly, one of the entrees wasn't made and that order was expedited and we were given a crepe as compensation. =ORDERED= We were given bread halfway through our meal and I wished it had a similar char to that from our polpette appetizer. However, it was still pleasantly crusty and I would request balsamic vinegar and oil to give it more flavor. *Pear Salad: loved the combination of fresh, bitter arugula drizzled in the sweet honey finished with roasted almonds and sliced, crisp pear. Light salad that was nicely sharable between two people although I could have several myself. *Polpette: meatballs with toasted bread. Cibo joins my growing meatball tier list as a strong contender. The meatballs were generous portioned and had great structural integrity. These beef balls were packed and still chunky inside, giving them a satisfying chew. The accompanying marinara sauce was incredible and I soaked all up with the bread. *Tagliatelle Bolognese: made with infamous San Marzano tomatoes and ground beef. Loved how perfectly bouncy and al dente the pasta was. I was amazed by the portion size and rich sauce--all for $18. The slow cooked sauce was deeply savory and beefy with very little acidity. *Nutella Crepe: possible ice cream add on for $2. Personally I found the singular scoop to not be worth the upgrade and the vanilla flavor was a bit lacking. The house made whipped cream added enough creaminess and sweetness as is. The crepe was thin, soft and stuffed with Nutella. Very rich and I would suggest splitting dessert as it would be too decadent for one. Cibo is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Not only was the menu expansive, the pizzas could be made gluten free or with vegan mozzarella to be more inclusive. Great ambiance and lots of thought definitely went into each dish. I was so excited to eat at Cibo, so many rave reviews about their gluten-free pizza. I had the pear salad and it was delicious, fresh sweet and just the right amount of dressing. I loved my Cacio e Pepe glutenfree pasta. I was impressed how everything that I ordered was marked with a glutenfree label, so no kitchen mixups could occur! I wish more restaurants did this. I tried a slice of my friend's Fungi pizza with the glutenfree crust and I was really disappointed. It was charred and burnt in places on the crust and toppings but the crust was soggy and not crispy or tasty. The toppings were good but the crust was a real let down. I wouldn't order the glutenfree pizza again. The dessert crepes are indeed worth it. I ordered the Nutella with strawberries and it was yummy, the fresh strawberries helped cut through the richness of the Nutella. Typically I'm bot a fan of Nutella as I find it cloyingly sweet. Having the tart fresh strawberries helped my dessert crepe to not be too sweet. Honestly, my favorite part of Cibo is the atmosphere, the patio with all the Christmas lights in the landscaping is just so pretty. One of the most lovely patios in Phoenix. I ordered the Rustica pizza just because prosciutto and arugula will never go wrong on a pizza, and they made it just right! Based on the reviews I was reading I was really excited to try this place as it sounded like a great spot in the Phoenix area. Everything from the service all the way to the food was very subpar at best. The food was just so bland. The calamari was more chewy than crispy and it had no flavor unless dipped in the sauce. The bruschetta was totally burnt and the bread just had these toppings on it. The bread itself just was bland as well. The pizza was cooked with and the bolognese was alright. Really just nothing special in terms of flavor. The service was awkward. Tom was helping mostly all the tables and although he was kind he just was so disingenuous. He didn't really seem to care about what we were ordering. He constantly was correcting us on things we may have pronounced wrong on the menu.
