This review is for the PLANO location on the Tollroad only. Chuy's has been a favorite for years. But now, back-to-back disappointments leave me wondering. Both nights, the SERVICE actually disappointed more than the food, though. So if you think super sizing it at McDonalds is a treat, you won't care about that. If you arrive during business hours, you should be well served - it's an expectation. There shouldn't be an expectation of "it's close to closing, so we're not going to deliver 100%". Maybe it is past ten pm but that's no excuse for sloppy dining rooms or poor service. A napkin, straw and drink should arrive before my overbooked meal on a scalding plate. That's serving 101. I've eaten at this Chuy's location 6 times - twice in the dining room (which led to my above review) and 4 times in the bar area. In the bar area, I was at a table one time and the service was very poor. The other 3 times, I sat at the bar itself - those 3 times I had great service. I will say this though: for some reason, the jalapeno dip and salsa are better in west Plano than the Knox Henderson location. No idea why. read more

Last night I came out ready to treat my server and drink, unfortunately I was not met with the same energy. Jennifer (Jen) my server said she had a long day and forgot my drink at the bar because she got side tracked, but I watched her laugh and treat the table of 4 in front of us full of energy. Don't use that as an excuse if you aren't going to give every table the same energy. I'm disappointed as a server and bartender, although I tipped 30 hoping that she would see that just because we look a certain way doesn't mean we aren't deserving of decent service and frequent table touches. read more

I was really looking forward to trying out Chuys because it is a big hit with all of my friends. Unfortunately, my dreams were crushed as my Deluxe Chicken Enchiladas were soaked head to toe in ranch, leaving my enchilada looking like a slimy eel!! And then I thought, ok the texture is strange but maybe it will taste good. But no. My chicken was pink and undercooked and I instantly spat it out and shoved the plate away from my child. Additionally, the queso was 9 dollars on the bill, extremely overpriced considering that the cheese tasted like Velveeta mixed with lard. If anyone is considering paying Chuys a visit, I would encourage them to lower their standards beforehand. This one star is for the double-sided crayons. read more

What happened? I've been going to Chuys for over 20 years and have eaten at Chuys well over 100 times but I think I'm done. Kinda sad to say but the menu, service, flavor, ambiance, heck the Cadillac trunk and everything me and my family loved about Chuys is gone or is off. It was a great run and maybe they can bounce back. The meat quality was still decent, seemed pretty clean, and the food wasn't gross but Covid might have killed this place. The food taste more bland, the queso fell off significantly, salsa got worse, menu down graded, food tasted more prepackaged, server seemed strange and lacked etiquette. This has been our Go To Chuy's for over a decade. Sadly, after our experience this weekend, we won't be back to this one. We had checked in for first available (in or out) and had a 20-30 minute wait. Boom, a group our size comes in and is immediately seated outside. We voice our concern and no one can really be bothered by the fact that we were overlooked. The waitress is openly rude about it. We ask to speak to a manager. He NEVER addresses us. Walks by us several times. They seat us outside. The same waitress walks by us at least 3 times without a word! We decide they obviously don't want to serve us. We leave. As we leave, the same waitress claims she is bringing chips and the hostess says she didn't really have the time for an additional table. Then why seat us!!? You made a mistake. Why make another? Overall horrible experience. The manager was the worst. read more

I've always loved Chuy's but more specifically their creamy jalapeno dip, which doesn't even need explaining. We were quickly seated and brought chips and dip. I let out server know that my friend had never been to Chuy's before so he offered us queso on the house even though I was ready to use my free queso coupon. Chips and water were refreshed consistently throughout our dinner and Jordan L, our server, checked in on us a ton to make sure everything was to our liking. He even came by at one point to refill out waters, noticed mine had ice in it. and then went to the kitchen to bring me a separate cup of ice because he had poured me iceless water - I told him iceless water was fine but he insisted on bringing the ice. For chain restaurants especially, service is what sets each location apart and the service here makes this location top tier for me! read more

This was my boyfriend and i's first time here and it happened to be cinco de mayo! There was an hour wait so we just went to the bar. Their house margaritas are strong!! I got two house grande margaritas and was super buzzed! After we got called to our table, we started off with complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was pretty spicy. We also ordered jalapeño ranch (free), which is absolutely delicious with chips!! I got the hatch chicken enchiladas which comes with the white queso sauce. It was absolutely delicious, but boy, was it spicy!! And I love spicy foods! My boyfriend got the Elvis fried chicken? That was amazing as well! It was a flat chicken breast breaded and fried with lays potato chips! He asked for it to be covered in the boom boom sauce. Lastly, we finished with the tres leches cake. One word...HEAVENLY!!! We ordered: Fajita combo for 2: the meat is perfectly seasoned and cooked. This comes with 6 tortillas as well. Probably the best fajitas I ever had. Steak burrito: this is the 12 inch burrito that is one the house favorites. It is huge and delicious. They do not go cheap on the meat. Deluxe quesadilla: this was our least favorite and I won't order this again. I thought they were very dry and a bit over cooked. The creamy jalepino dip is amazing! We waited about 6 mins for our server to come with chips and 1 bowl of salsa. Shocked I haven't written about this place, I've been so many times. This is pretty much a decently solid tex mex joint. Nothing mindblowing, but consistently good grub at affordable prices. The margaritas are tasty and the chips are usually crispy and salty. Staff is friendly and they do their best to make everyone happy- even when it's completely crowded. This location is also right next to a movie theater, so you can get your fill on chips, salsa, and fajitas- then pay $20 to food coma through a movie! Win win! read more

Chuy's is a Tex-Mex classic with a distinctly Austin flair. I don't think I've ever had anything here that blew my culinary mind, but most Tex-Mex doesn't. That's not its game. What is its game is being consistently delicious and scratching an itch that no other style of cooking can. We loved Chuy's mainly for their Chicken Tortilla soup. We have never liked their canned beans and tex mex rice. I stoped buying the flautas when they started adding cheese to the chicken! We get the soup often even when we travel if a Chuy's is in town we go there! Today I ordered two soup bowls, the containers were half empty and I could hardly see the chicken In the soup! We started off with chips and salsa, they brought us the jalapeno dip as well. Slightly addicting. They also let us try the habenero dip. Delicious! I ordered the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas. They have some great lunch specials and are usually able to get you in and out see an hour. The restaurant is always busy but the servers are attentive and provide great service. If you're looking for a fun lunch or dinner place with friends, this is the place for you. It's not great for private or intimate discussions since you kinda have to shout to talk across the table. Tab Total with tip delivery by Doordash with the mo. subscription $25.00 I got the first option on the Lite Menu which is my favorite when I do go but today (after several failed meals at other places). I really appreciated the crunchy non soggy shell, tasty taco filled with flavorful beef, cheese, tomato, and a yummy side of fresh gaucamole. Also, had two kids meals - The bean burrito was perfectly huge and tasty. My only suggestion would to put a bit of lettuce tomato side just to give my chlid a little veg. A taste to fit in that other slot. He ate every bite minus the two bites I devoured. We also, thought we would check out the kids cheeseburger. The meat Patty was tasty, although a bit overdone even for a child. The fries were so nasty so that's why not a solid five star. Please change your oil and never overcook, "to go" fries please. Lastly, all the condiments we're there with the chips, salsas and dips but most importantly, each container was filled to the top with great quality and consistent product! Definitely, on my top five to go places again Not a huge deal but please give the delivery guys better bags with handles. Been coming here pretty regular for years and have ordered to pick up pretty often since covid but tonight was the last time. Not only did I have to spend the better part of an hour to go back to pick up what they didn't include of the order but when I asked about more "complimentary" creamy jalapeño and salsa was told they only give 2 small containers of each for a 3 entre order. I've never gotten that little of it before and we xan order loads of it when eating in but not on pick up orders. Also no apology for messing the order up to begin with and no anything for my troubles. Seriously, all I wanted was one more container of each but nope. Didnt think any restaurant would be willing to push a pretty loyal customer away over what amounts to about 50 cents of sauce but they did. We won't be back anytime soon, if at all. When I come home to Texas, I think Tex mex and I think creamy jalapeño dip. The creamy jalapeño dip and chips they give you for free are the bomb. This time I just got the chuys lite plate with one sirloin steak taco with a side of guac, lettuce, and queso $7. Clearly I wasn't very hungry at this moment, but it was still a solid taco. Wish I had tried my friends enchiladas though! Overall chuys is still a great place and friendly service. Really LOVE the creamy jalapeño dip though so I get pretty full off of that haha read more

I visited this location with my sister on a Thursday evening. We were greeted by two very kind ladies that sat us down at a booth immediately even though it was relatively crowded at the restaurant. The one downside to this Chuy's is it does tend to be a bit loud with all the guests inside talking. Where we sat there was a big party of at least 8-10 people next to us which made it kind of difficult to talk to one another. Service & Food Our waitress was good. She could've been a little more personable when taking our order but that really wasn't much of an issue. I tend to drink my beverages quickly and our waitress was very attentive to that. I never went a second without some Dr. Pepper to drink. I ordered the Thursday special which included 2 chicken enchiladas with special spicy pepper sauce on top. The food didn't blow me away, but was pretty good overall for the price ($10.99). I would say my overall experience at this Chuy's was good this time. I do believe there are better places to get mexican food around this area, but Chuy's is not a bad option if you want decent Mexican food for a good price. read more

This is a decent location, but I prefer the other Plano location by far. I've been here about a handful of times and each time, the visit was just okay. Servers seem quite uncoordinated here, and get super frazzled when it gets busy and everyone wants to cash out at once. The food is great, and comes out pretty fast. I love the unique photos and decor at Chuy's.. all locations have quirky decor, but all are different and unique. Make sure you ask for the jalapeno ranch dip, it's amazing!! And freeeee. Location is great, just right off the tollway, near the Cinemark West Plano. If you go on a weekend at dinner time, the wait will be about an hour, so make sure you don't go starving if you go during the rush. read more

This place rocks! Great looking building, sharp interior, along with huge portions at reasonable prices. No wonder it was packed at 12:30 on a Monday afternoon. Three of us had lunch, and although the place was busy we were seated immediately, brought chips (that were refilled as needed) and had a great server throughout the meal. The pictures tell the story, and it was as delicious as it looks. One of our group had the "Monday Special" of three chicken tacos with beans, rice and guacamole. Another opted for the combination #6 a cheesy Tex-Mex enchilada, a Taco with ground sirloin, and a Chicken Chalupa. I went with my favorite two Chile Relleno with cheese. Lightly battered and beautifully fried. It was excellent! Most platters include choices of sauces, rice and beans - I tried the green chile rice and it had just the right spice to it. First visit here after lots of recommendations and it did not disappoint. Got the chili rellenos with boom boom sauce. SOooooo good. Spicy, flavorful, pepper was fried perfectly and just the right amount of sauce. Wife got a burrito and tried some of it she it was amazing as well. Truly best Mexican I have had though I fully admit I have been limited to mostly chains where I moved here from. So only negative is the service was not great. Was an extremely long wait for our drinks, a modelo and margarita. Waiter never asked if I wanted another beer. After that wait I wasn't going to anyway, but still. Granted it was 1pm on a Saturday and the place was slammed so I'm not going to ding them for that. Also the waiter was nice and the entree came out relatively quick. Consider this a solid 4.5 stars, with only a couple of things holding back 5 stars. I've been to the other Chuy's location in Plano, but this was my first visit here. I ordered queso compuesto to start, and was rewarded with a delicious bowl of queso, with "lumps" of quac and chorizo that you mix in yourself. It was delicious with the warm, crispy chips. Their table salsa has never been my favorite, but it was in good form today. For the main course, I selected the chile relleno and enchilada combo; ground beef in the former, and chicken in the latter, all covered in their signature Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom sauce, a nice, spicy queso that has a unique flavor with tomatillos, Hatch chiles etc. Rice and beans rounded out the platter. The relleno and enchilada were fantastic. The enchilada had big chunks of chicken with good flavor and a tortilla that tasted fresh. The relleno was great, with a crispy batter fried to a deep golden brown; the meaty filling was fantastic. So why the 4.5 stars? Two reasons: rice and beans need to have more "umph" (a minor issue, but they could use more flair), and the big reason: The relleno was way too small. I've seen jalapenos larger than this. If they're going to be this small, the platter should include two of them. Do that, and it's 5 stars for me. Bottom line, I've seen Tex-Mex get butchered and frankly, be pretty nasty at some restaurants. But Chuy's isn't that place. They do Tex-Mex right. You likely will not be disappointed here. read more

I've been here for lunch. I've tried the Chuychanga, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Enchiladas, and chips & queso. Everything was really good. They have a variety of different sauces to choose from. I've tried the queso, hatch green chili, and creamy jalapeño. My favorites was the creamy jalapeño. They have two different choices for rice (Mexican rice and Green Chile Rice). I recommend the Green Chile Rice. The service was great and quick even during the Friday lunch rush. I would definitely love to come back and explore the menu. read more

I love the food at Chuy's, but the service can be much better. Our server wasn't good at all because she never refilled our drinks. I asked for a new glass of water because I accidentally put a chip in it, and it took her a while to get it. We ordered the queso, the queso is really good here, it has flavor. I ordered the beef al carbon tacos here, the wrong order came out, so it was fixed quickly. The beef fajita is flavored perfectly here. Another person ordered the combo of fish/shrimp Baja tacos, he said it was pretty good. The chicka chicka boom boom is very popular here, someone at the table ordered it, so I tried it. The enchiladas were good, and the sauce is what made it taste good. Overall, the food is good, and they offer a free nacho bar during happy hour. read more
