I love to stop by this location for an early lunch or late dinner (to avoid the waits). Price wise this place is not cheap, but not super expensive either. Their happy hour margaritas are pretty well priced. I love the salsa and also enjoy the creamy jalapeno ranch dip with my chips as well. I think it's usually used as a salad dressing, but it's awesome as a dip, too. I usually get the Elvis Memorial Plate which is enough food for two people. It offers a good variety and sampling so you can get a little of everything. On the rare occasions I get a salad, they've been good as well. The service at this location is excellent. Servers are very friendly and helpful. It's def Tex Mex, so if you're looking for authentic Mexican food, look elsewhere. In my experience, the consistency of the food and service has been the same. I'm pretty new to austin and in my short time here I've fallen in love with everything about Austin, but most importantly, the food, especially the texmex style of food! Chuy's was recommended to us by a friend of ours and I could not have been happier with the recommendation! When you first enter it seems sort of packed and there is always a line up, but as soon as they take you're name you can have a seat in the bar, grab a drink and have some of the self serve tortilla chips while you wait. Too cool! They called us up after about ten minutes arriving and we were served by a very nice albeit obviously rushed waitress. We had the chips and queso as an appetizer and it was amazing - Highly recommended! For our main meal I ordered the fajitas and was not dissapointed. Chuys Jalapeño Ranch is amazing. It alone would get 6 stars. If it wasn't "weird" or if it was "socially acceptable" to order that as my drink then I would. The food is pretty good. Me and the wife went here with some friends and thought the food was great. This is definitely Tex-Mex. We started with the chips and salsa and also added the creamy jalapeno dip. The dip is pretty tasty. My wife got the Chile Relleno made with anaheim pepper and I got the Chica-chica boom boom enchiladas. Everything was very tasty. Not a whole lot of heat, but the flavors and seasoning were good. And the meat was very good. Finished up with the sopapillas and this tollhouse pecan pie. The sopapillas were very light. Out of all the Chuy's locations I had visited, this was by far the best one. The wait staff is very prompt and polite, my friend and I never had to wait too long for food or for our waiter. Chips were very fresh and food came out very hot. We ordered the chika boom boom enchiladas and the stuffed avocado, both AMAZING! And of course, make sure the first thing you ask for when you sit down is for some creamy jalapeño ranch sauce! Unlike other Chuy's which are always overly crowded, and you feel like you are sitting on the person next to you, this one was more spacious and had way more breathing room! read more

My burrito was great. I ordered the Brownie Pie and it started out well until I felt something odd in my mouth. I kept chewing and this thing was not breaking down. I pull a nice piece of styrofoam out of my mouth. Kaza told me that it was his fault because it came from the container the ice cream came in. That made me loose my appetite and the manager came out to apologize. She offered to replace it but I declined since I lost my appetite. I really thought she was going to take it off my bill seeing I only had a few bites before discovering the foreign object in my mouth. She just left and did not take anything off my bill. Had food delivered. It was cold, no utensils or napkins and no creamy jalapeno. All other Chuy's takeout give plenuof chips, salsa and creamy... additionally, food was cold, however delivered timely. I would like to give Chuy's 4.5 stars but cannot. The food is excellent. Always good, very consistent. The staff is friendly and the service pretty quick. It is a fun place to go and we use it all the time for birthdays. The prices are reasonable for Austin, every place is getting more expensive these days. My only complaint is that it is way to noisy in there. It is loud and hard to hear conversation at times. All the walls and floors are hard surfaces so the noise just bounces around. Not sure how they could fix that but there you go. Great place, highly recommended just talk loud and you will be fine. read more

So this is a corporate restaurant with a local flair. It was very interesting to watch how the wait staff works to steer you toward the expensive items, right down to our server jerking the menu out of my girlfriends hand to show her what she felt she wanted. Then took the drink away before she was done while asking her if she wanted another....seriously? It seemed as though the wait staff was more concerned with meeting a quota than taking care of people, kind of sad. It was not just our server I watched it happen at other tables also. Please do not blame Chuy's when the GrubHub order is incorrect. They made my order exactly as requested today, but the "sides" were missing. And the original ETA (sent via text by GrubHub immediately after I placed the order) was 40-50 minutes. Unfortunately, that was a pipe dream. I got my order after one hour and 25 minutes. Service is here is always fast and friendly. It's usually not as busy as the other Austin locations. The salsa here is hotter than the other locations. Food is just as tasty. Chuy's is kind of like the Applebee's of Mexican food. They have a strong theme of bright colors that extends to their own knick knacks and doodads all over the walls. That being said, the food is good, (the complimentary salsa is better than you'd find at most Tex-Mex places) and reasonably priced. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. A work colleague brought us to Chuy's on our recent trip to Austin. I was told this was the "go to" TexMex place. Coming from California we either have the typical Chevy's chain or lot's of local Mexican restaurants. Given the all the positive comments about Chuy's I had pretty high expectations.
