Beef, Chicken or Combo Tortillas

Nice Mexican fare restaurant. Crowded but tables available. Several parties going on, but plenty of staff. Our server was good about refilling drinks and checking in on us. All the dishes we had were hot, spicy and fresh. We had some chips, queso with ground meat, salsa. All hit the spot and next time we visit Austin we will try this place again.

Creamy Green Chile Chicken Enchilada

My friend jokingly suggested we come here when we weren't sure where to go eat, and we first laughed about it then decided that Chuy's sounded really good. Because it's such a basic Austin staple that everyone goes to, we didn't really think highly of it when thinking about where to eat, but we had a great time dining here. The food is very solid Tex-Mex that never blows us away but hits the spot. The chips they give are great. I got the creamy green chile chicken enchilada, which was pretty good, and it's a new menu item. It was quite spicy for me, but I have a low spice tolerance. My friend got the blackberry margarita and loved it. They have a good marg selection with good prices.

Your Yelper Girl here! Yayyyyyy Chuy's is BACK to their old glory! Menu has the Elvis Fried Chicken again and enchiladas were saucy and good! Drinks were delicious! The manager Erin is top notch!

Came here for lunch recently and overall had a good experience. Chuys is always good for some Americanized Mexican food. Only complaint, and I wasn't even mad about it, but they did accidentally give me cheese enchiladas instead of chicken. They replaced it and remade them very quickly and they were pretty good. Our server was also very nice and attentive. Overall I would recommend this location!

I really enjoyed this place. They start you off with chips and salsa and they do NOT short you on the chips. Then the cups are large for your drinks. And the food is simply delicious. Our waitress was very kind, I forget her name. She was a new hire (March 2025). Was really good. I will be back.

This location is still by far our favorite...The service is just different at this one...always happy and friendly...and the grungy (mean this in a good way) look of this joint just hits right....and with that said...Green Chile rice had made it way back to the menu...took way too long....Every time we go I say I'm getting something different, but I always resort back to the Elvis Combo....maybe its the crispy taco on the side...Overall a great experience as usual.

This is consistently the best Chuys in town. We live near the Round Rock location and still drive 25 mins to N. Lamar. Their service is top notch, their food is always and plentiful and it's just an overall great experience. After over 20+ years I finally tried the churros today. OMG. Mind blown. So good. Just get them. P.S. I don't like churros.

We love coming to Chuy's for great Tex Mex food. I like to get a kids burrito with queso or green salsa on top. The children's portions are pretty large so that usually keeps me full. The chips and creamy jalepeno are a classic. We come back time after time for excellent service and excellent food.

Good Mexican food, love their boom boom sauce! The mango-strawberry swirl margarita is amazing. Busy restaurant. Overall enjoyed the experience here.

Comida Deluxe
Bryan W.

Chuy's is Austin standard Tex-Mex restaurant, serving some variation or rice, beans, meat, and tortilla. I ordered a Comida Deluxe and got a frozen strawberry marg, and it was very filling for the price. The taste is pretty standard, guac is good. I also love that they give chips and salsa prior to your meal for free, and their service is great. Otherwise, the flavor is a little lacking, but I would give 4.5 stars if I could.

Baja shrimp
Eddie K.

I ordered the baja shrimp taco and it tastes pretty good! It comes with rice and beans on the side and complimentary chips. The portion is pretty decent with great service.

Amazing Food, Incredible Drinks & Fantastic Service!…read more What an absolutely fabulous experience at Moonshine Grill in Austin! From the food to the drinks to the service, everything was fantastic! Jessica took great care of us and made our visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance was also really nice, with cute rocking chairs out front and lots of mirrors all over the walls. We had the grilled cheese sandwich with burnt ends, and WOW! The combination of the amazing onions and gooey, delicious cheese was out of this world! We also ordered the sweet potatoes, and I cannot say enough about how good they were! Perfectly sweet and absolutely delicious. Seriously, SO SO good! And the drinks? The lavender lemonade was AMAZING! Refreshing, delicious, and the perfect complement to an already fabulous meal! Between the incredible food, fantastic drinks, and Jessica's wonderful service, this place was a winner all around! If you're in Austin, Moonshine Grill is definitely worth a stop! We somehow snagged nearby street parking and a table for two with no wait despite it being a busy Saturday evening after a UT football game. Make a reservation if you have a large party or are on a tighter schedule. It's a bit loud for those seated in the lobby/entrance area, but totes a vibe. For food, we ordered the blackened catfish, brisket burnt ends quesadillas, and harvest bowl to share. Everything was delicious and served quickly, even with the aforementioned dinner rush. 10/10 would order the same items again. I was so appreciative of the server splitting the entree over two plates without us asking. Did I mention the complimentary popcorn and cornbread? Twas a FEAST. I'm already thinking about the next time we're going back! If not for Moonshine, definitely for the speakeasy downstairs.

I'd also read reviews from a few Yelp Elite members who were slightly disappointed. I hope those didn't color my experience, but I came away feeling much the same. I arrived around 5 p.m., shortly after opening, and the place was already packed. Luckily, I snagged one of the only two seats available at the bar. The decor was fine, but nothing particularly special. The staff were super attentive and clearly very busy. Things moved a little more slowly than I would have liked, but it certainly wasn't for lack of effort. I was considering a happy hour taco when the bartender suggested a half order of the famous Suadero Tacos, made with Wagyu beef. I went with that, plus the Frijoles con Veneno, refried beans with seared panela cheese, and a Don Dario cocktail. I thought that would be the beginning of my meal. Turns out, that combination was filling enough to be the whole thing. The food was very, very good. Still, like some other reviewers, I didn't feel it quite lived up to the hype. Would I have felt differently if I hadn't read those reviews beforehand? Maybe. Attentive staff and very good food deserve credit. I just didn't leave quite as excited as I'd hoped.

They have a cute indoor seating area along with a rooftop patio, which is really cute especially when the weather gets great. I got a corn poblano soup and I have to say that was delicious. I got the small cup and next time I go back I will definitely get the whole bowl cause that was amazing. I did go during brunch hours so I got two tacos. One of them was the Migos taco, which was delicious. I love that the tortilla chips and they were nice and crunchy still and not soggy. I also got a taco called the Cherrywood, which had bacon cheese, egg, potato, and avocado, and it was delicious. I love that their tortillas are homemade and they're not the cheap American puffy ones. They also give you complementary chips and salsa and both salsa were delicious. I literally combine both of them in my tacos. They do have some great drinks. One of them is the Highlander margarita which is really nice and smooth and they use patron silver. They also had another margarita that I saw a lot of people ordering and it was an avocado one, and everybody kept raving about it. We stopped by at 11:45 am and surprisingly there were plenty of parking spots around the restaurant. We had a great waiter who was attentive and patient with us. We ordered a mimosa carafe for the group. Unfortunately, I think they need a better way of serving these mimosas because the sparkling wine in the carafe gets immediately warm due to not being placed on ice. We were drinking lukewarm mimosas. Please rethink this El Alma, you need buckets to keep the wine and juice cold! Anyways, we received complimentary chips and salsa while we waited for our food. I ordered the breakfast enchiladas which were delicious. They had egg in them, and honestly never thought this existed but happy I found it! Wish the side of beans it came with was bigger. The rest of our group enjoyed their foods as well. There's rooftop seating which was lovely BUT there's a huge oak tree above that continuously drops leaves and debris constantly. Our drinks had floating bits and it just kept falling. I recommend some umbrellas. Our waiter was kind enough to let us move when a table opened up under the canopy. Great food, super cool restaurant but some operational issues that keep it to a 4 and not a 5.
