    Happy 48th to me
    Gina B.

Out celebrating my Birthday and came to this newly opened Brazilian steakhouse. First off I have to say that there is another place that I usually go to for all my special occasions but this will be my new go to hands down. Service was phenomenal, the food was delicious! We had several servers who took care of us Joanie, Chaz and a couple others that I didn't catch their names, but all were so nice and so helpful. We even spoke with the owner Joao he was such a nice man, and definitely cares about his customers. I look forward to coming again. It's very open and spacious feeling inside not tight which is great. Thank you all for making my birthday special and taking such good care of me and my family!

There's a cold salad bar, a hot food bar, and meats delivered to your table. The variety on the cold salad bar was amazing! BLT, mozzarella, fruit, potato and standard romaine were just some of the salads offered, with a large amount of toppings available. The hot bar had Brazilian cheese bread, crispy polenta, beef stroganoff, bean stew, breakfast items and more! All was delicious. But don't get too distracted - the meat is the star. The meats were so very good! You choose what you want and the gaucho slices your portion table side. I asked for very small pieces so I could try everything. I believe I had 4 different beef preparations, 3 chicken and 3 pork (sausage, ham and loin). Such variety and deliciousness! And mustn't forget the grilled/glazed pineapple- I'd go back just for that! This place is not cheap, but I believe it's worth it (if you're hungry). We went for lunch which was lower priced than dinner, and I doubt we'll eat the rest of the day. My belly is full and my wallet is lighter, but my oh my am I happy!

However, I had been in once before when they first opened up. All the staff were super friendly. It was relatively busy, but there was no wait to be seated. I will note that coming before 3PM is the best deal because it's only $36.99 per person for the Full Rodizio versus $49.99 per person after 3PM. Honestly, their salad / side bar has really good offerings. Even if you're not in the mood for meat, you can get some really good offerings from the salad / side bar. There is an option to skip the meat for a cheaper price. The food is all you can eat, which is nice! However, you better come hungry to get your moneys worth. I really like the concept of the place. The food was all very good, fresh, and high quality. The issue I have is that I feel like I can't possibly eat enough to get my money worth. So I would not come to this place often....

The flavor was very good- there was a slight smokey flavor but you could tell the steak had been marinating for a while! We asked for the filet mignon and they grilled it right up for us! I would however order it at the very beginning because it can take a while depending on how busy the kitchen is. At the beginning our server wasn't all that attentive because to be honest I think she was just very overwhelmed because there were a ton of people there. However, she did make up for it at the end because she offered us a free dessert! I'm only going it 4 stars out of 5 because the sides are tasteless and honestly you could do without the market table. I didn't love anything and if you want mashed potatoes you have to order them which I think is quite a marketing play. Lastly, make sure you order the sauces that is the cherry on top and they are free!

I made the reservation in advance and specifically noted both celebrations, and I also mentioned them to our server at the beginning of dinner. We were told they would bring out desserts to celebrate. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing, especially for a special occasion. The meat service was extremely slow and inconsistent. For the first 30 minutes, we barely received any meat service at all and sat around waiting. We eventually had to complain to our server, who said they would have the gauchos come toward our table more often. Even after that, we only had one person come by, and it was a meat we had already tried. After we complained a second time, we were suddenly bombarded with meat service, which made the experience feel very disorganized. It shouldn't take multiple complaints before guests receive the service they are paying for. We were also disappointed by the lack of variety in the food. By the end of dinner, the overall experience just wasn't what we has anticipated. Plus the desserts that we were told would be brought out for our anniversary and our daughter's birthday never came. At that point, I was already frustrated with the experience and didn't want to wait around any longer, so we paid the bill and left. We chose Fogo de Chão specifically to celebrate two important family milestones, so it was especially disappointing that the service and attention to the occasion fell short. For the price, we expected much better service, variety, and overall experience. We also chose to try this location over the Gilbert one (even though we're closer to Gilbert) because we thought the service would be better at a place that has been established a lot longer.

The service, the atmosphere, the endless selection, and that incredible Brazilian steakhouse experience made this a meal we won't soon forget. Serra Gaucha, you definitely know how to put on a feast! For beverage, I highly recommend Brazil limenade, very refreshing and also not too sweet, perfect for cleaning your palate after eating so many oily meat. Their service was also spot on, very friendly. However, we thought we could get grilled pineapple, but realized it's an add on. Overall, a lot of choices and you will get really full.

Sometimes other parties can be a little loud as they are having fun, so keep that in mind as the last few times I've gone it was a little hard to hear my table. The food is reasonably priced and pretty good! The carpaccio was to die for!!!!! I would have ordered 10 of those and been happy. The sauce they paired it with was so yummy, I wasn't expecting that. The oysters are flown in daily so ask your waiter or waitress about details if you care to know, they are very knowledgeable. Every time I've ordered food here I've been happy. Except for the duck I wasn't impressed. It was a little overcooked and tough to eat, the rice it was paired with was also a little bland but the sauce they had a little drizzled on the side was soooooo good. Now the desserts....you can't go wrong. Every dessert hits the spot. They also offer coffee as well which was perfect for me who was heading to a concert afterwards. There is a parking garage to park in and YES THEY VALIDATE! You know you are in for a true fine dining experience. We started off with some cocktails and I was very impressed with the clear ice cube in my Smokey Old Fashioned as it was branded with the "Toro" logo. It was so smooth and probably the best Old Fashioned I ever had, so I had 3 more! My wife throughly enjoyed her Espresso Martinis also. I started off with the Grilled Octopus and nearly cried because it was so good. This is a food favorite of mine and although I love the flavors, most restaurants over cook it and you need to cut it with a steak knife. Not this dish, no knife necessary, your fork will do. So tender, so flavorful, so amazingly delicious. The Mrs. ordered the crispy calamari and was thoroughly impressed as the texture was what fresh calamari should be and not the rubbery texture you get from 8 out of 10 other places. Seasoned to perfection with spices but not overly spicy. My wife can't bear spicy anymore , but she really enjoyed it. I finished it for her of course, because she always remembers to leave room for desert and never finishes anything. And I'm glad because I always get to taste her meals too. It's a win-win for me! I then had an off-the-hook Ceviches that rivaled my own. I am also a part-time cook and also wrote a cookbook. Ceviche is a particular dish that I compare to other restaurants and until now, never found another place that compares to mine. Toro doesn't disappoint my friends. Now for the entrée, Lomo Saltado for myself and a medium rare Ribeye for the Mrs. The Lomo Saltado was beef tenderloin on creamy rice, crispy potato, heirloom tomato, bell peppers, Rocoto Aioli and a Chifa Soy Sauce. It was mouth watering. The beef tenderloin was cooked a little on the well done side, but my bad for not specifying to cook it medium rare. It was still amazing and not a big enough deal to even mention it in the review, but I just want you to specify your preference when you order yours. My wife had the 14 Oz. Ribeye, medium rare ( she thought it was also medium but I found it to be medium rare myself) it was soooo good. She had a side dish of Crispy Brussels sprouts that were unworldy. We never had Brussels sprouts that good, it must be the sherry vinagrette and cotija cheese. Unreal. I had a side of shishito peppers that made my heart happy. My favorite peppers are not usually available everywhere so it was a real bonus to the meal. Desert, well the desert was worth the wait. We both ordered the Ube Basque Cheesecake. It is a dark purple colored slice of heaven with masa crumble, Yuzu espuma and coconut jam. The presentation was stunning. We even enjoyed espresso with sambucca to finish our dining experience. How many places offer espresso on their menu just to inform you the espresso machine isn't working? Just another bonus for us. Price wise, what you would expect for a high-end restaurant in a beautiful resort area of Scottsdale, no sticker shock there, but still, I'd save this place as a never can fail go to for a first date, anniversary, job promotion, marriage proposal, special occasion restaurant. They also do breakfast, brunch, lunch and Happy Hour. I hope you get to experience this place at least once. Put it on your bucket list, you'll be glad you did!
