mac cheese bites

Ironically for a fried chicken place, the fried chicken isn't good. The sides are better & some of the daily deals are pretty good value (especially as you can add on a drink or side for a reduced price), but they still only get 2.5 stars. The chicken was crunchy, juicy & reasonably fresh, but was quite lacking in flavour. It was probably the most flavourless fried chicken I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were pretty decent. They were quite smooth & the gravy was pretty tasty. It would be nicer with some solids in them though. The biscuit was good: moist. It was glazed which gave it more flavour than other southern biscuits.

I've heard many good reviews about church's chicken and I had to give it a try. The reviews on google and YouTube were pretty high, and I wanted to test it out myself. I visited on a Monday and got their weekday special; Monday's any chicken sandwich for $5.99, and I got the two piece combo with fries and a drink also for $5.99 with their coupons. TIP: they have coupons on their website, and you can show those! I ordered the mild two piece, however she gave me the spicy, and it was too spicy to my liking where I didn't enjoy the chicken. Their fries were freshly made for us and the biscuit was super tasty. The biscuit is honey butter, and it didn't feel too heavy like the biscuits at Popeyes. For the chicken sandwich, I chose the Mexicana sandwich and it was also spicy. The burger was meh, I would come back and try the original sandwich. The chicken did not live up to the high reviews, but this could've been the spicy factor in play. I know the right then to do was to tell the employees, but we already had more than enough food and didn't want to waste anything. Final words, I would come back and try the mild chicken but maybe check out another location.

I went to Church's and now need to confess my sins. Please forgive me for committing: - Gluttony and Greed... for ordering an extra honey butter biscuit to go with my 2 piece (original and spicy) chicken, coleslaw and biscuit combo. - Lust... for that oh-so-crispy skin on the fried chicken and the glistening sheen on the honey biscuit. - Envy... for the table beside me who got the bbq chicken sandwich which looked crunchy-awesome. - Sloth... for when I went into a food coma after all this yumminess. - Unfaithfulness... for cheating on Popeyes by putting Church's Chicken on the top of my fastfood fried chicken favourites. To repent for my sins, I guess I'll need to go to Church's more often!

I heard alot about this place so decided to try it. The packaging was good, and the order was not all over the place. Fries were cooked perfectly and they were not too salty. The chicken was the star of the show, moist and flavorful. I got the spicy one, and it was spicy but they do have the normal flavor too. Also, it is important to note that this place is located in Downtown Toronto which gives it a bonus! Definitely suggest it!

Love this! Been living in downtown Toronto for the past 6 years and I only saw this around a couple of months ago when I was walking down Yonge st from Bloor. At first I thought they relocated there from somewhere along Church St We're also long-time fans of Mary Brown's and they're probably the reason why I gave Church's Chicken a shot because we were craving for Mary's and we wanted to try something different. Long story short, we were very much satisfied!!!!! Tender meat, crispy on the outside, not salty and not that greasy. Jalapeño bombers didn't disappoint and the buscuit is just perfect. Will definitely order again!

Thursday special - 3 piece chicken for $5.99
Philip C.

Walked by on a Thursday evening and decided to walk in since they only have 4 locations in the GTA. I ordered the Thursday deal which was a 3 piece chicken for $5.99 and opted to get it spicy. They gave me 2 legs and a thigh. Upon first bite, the skin nice and crispy and the chicken was still hot. Thumbs up for that. As I took a couple more bites, I started to compare the spice and seasoning of the fried chicken to Popeyes. Verdict? I would say decently on par. If I had to chose, I would still rank Popeyes spicy chicken over Church's.

Love Church's Chicken. Always super crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, even after being in a takeaway box for 20 mins. Side are great too. Although you have to wait a good deal of time to get your order, it is well worth the wait. Best to go prior to the lunch rush. Best franchise fried chicken place I've been to.

Uzii I.

The original tenders are the best in town and the variety of sauces at church's chicken.and still more on menu. Definitely going again to try every thing on menu..

Review Highlights - Church's Texas Chicken

1) I think my relationship with Popeyes has been destroyed by this homewrecking chicken company they call church's.

The I Heart Butter Tart Concrete ($6.49) that I ordered was a little too much for myself. I did decide to go through and finish the ice cream / sundae just so I don't have anything to go. The interior of the place was properly though out and well designed. Self order stations are available to order from and the ordering interface is one of the better systems I have seen. When I dined in early afternoon on a weekday it was a rather slow day. There were a couple of Shake Shack employees constantly roaming about the premises ready to attend to any customer request. 1 such employee was thoughtful enough to serve me and a group of other customers some water. I have mixed feelings about the bathroom setup. Yes, it is clean and there were a few toilet rooms available, but it requires a code to be entered prior to using. The door screen shows as vacant but an employee still needs to give out the 4 digit code needed to access the toilets. I also found some issues with the water faucet sensors. It is inconsistently picking up my gestures resulting in an unreliable and unsteady flow of running water when I was washing my hands.

I couldn't let the opportunity pass. The dining space? Bright, clean, inviting. Modern but casual. Off to a genuinely good start. And then... things went south. I ordered the peri-peri chicken with two sides. The wait was excruciating. Not just long--confusing. Every single person who ordered after me was eating while I sat there wondering if my ticket got lost in another country. When the chicken finally arrived, I was stunned--and not in a good way. Easily the smallest leg/thigh combo I've ever seen. Yes, I'm used to USA-sized, GMO-filled chickens, but I've eaten plenty overseas. This wasn't "European portioning." This was kiddie-sized. Flavor? Underwhelming. Forgettable. Nothing that made me pause, nothing that lingered. For a place built on peri-peri heat and personality, this was shockingly flat. I can get chicken with more punch at my local Grocery & Go. The mac and cheese had decent texture--the breadcrumbs did their job--but flavor-wise? Completely bland. Zero soul. The fries? Although well seasoned, we're like warm. Overhyped things rarely deliver, and Nando's sadly fits the bill. Massive disappointment is the phrase that keeps coming to mind

The reason they have "express" in their store name is that the food is usually ready within 2 mins. During busy times, you have to wait until they get to your order. There is a little window where they place food that is ready, and a server brings them to your table (if you are dining in). We ordered the following: A1: Spring Roll 4 pcs ($11.99). A2: Shrimp Fresh Roll 4 pcs ($11.99). M1: Assorted Thap Cam Banh Mi ($8.99). P1: Special Beef Noodle Soup/Pho ($17.99). C2: Grilled Chicken and Fried Egg on Broken Rice ($15.99). V1: Grilled Pork & Spring Rolls with Vermicelli ($18.99). D1: Passion-Mango Green Tea ($4.99). D4: Ice Coffee with Condensed Milk ($4.99). D5: Pop x 2 ($1.99 x 2). The customer service is good. They forgot to tell us that extra condiments can be found on a counter near the washroom. There is plenty of indoor tables, most of them are for two people. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-230

The soup didn't taste watered down. All in all a great addition. Place will do well if it maintains its standard. Only time will tell!
