Came to checked out the chicken due to the hype. There was a $2deal. Honey biscuit was good. Mild chicken drumstick, crispy however the meat lacked flavor or seasoning came with hot sauce and ketchup pack. Not sure how the spicy one compares. Location doesn't look very welcoming have to walk down long hallway to get to the cashier and order. Looks like more like an old run down burger king store. Not somewhere you want to stay for long. Very bare white walls a couple tables here and there. Not many people there or ordering they had a pile of prepared fries chicken and biscuits they took off the heated warming area. Maybe it is this one location however I prefer Popeyes after trying and would not come back at least not to this location. read more

The food came out fast, and the customer service was OK. It was a little bit expensive for no reason, but the reviews here about this exact one I usually go to the one in Parliament really scared me, and I thought I was about to get poisoned and the food was OK though Nothing was missing and everything was pretty good but I was absolutely terrified so I will not be coming here anymore I will be going to the other one at Parliament. Ironically for a fried chicken place, the fried chicken isn't good. The sides are better & some of the daily deals are pretty good value (especially as you can add on a drink or side for a reduced price), but they still only get 2.5 stars. The chicken was crunchy, juicy & reasonably fresh, but was quite lacking in flavour. It was probably the most flavourless fried chicken I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were pretty decent. They were quite smooth & the gravy was pretty tasty. It would be nicer with some solids in them though. The biscuit was good: moist. I've heard many good reviews about church's chicken and I had to give it a try. The reviews on google and YouTube were pretty high, and I wanted to test it out myself. I visited on a Monday and got their weekday special; Monday's any chicken sandwich for $5.99, and I got the two piece combo with fries and a drink also for $5.99 with their coupons. TIP: they have coupons on their website, and you can show those! I ordered the mild two piece, however she gave me the spicy, and it was too spicy to my liking where I didn't enjoy the chicken. Their fries were freshly made for us and the biscuit was super tasty. The biscuit is honey butter, and it didn't feel too heavy like the biscuits at Popeyes. For the chicken sandwich, I chose the Mexicana sandwich and it was also spicy. The burger was meh, I would come back and try the original sandwich. The chicken did not live up to the high reviews, but this could've been the spicy factor in play. I know the right then to do was to tell the employees, but we already had more than enough food and didn't want to waste anything. 3.25/5 I've come across this place many times and I finally decided to give it a try. Overall, the food was good but other fried chicken places were much better in my opinion. Fried chicken I ordered 2 pieces of regular and 2 pieces of spicy. All dark meat. The meat was good but there were bits that were a bit dry. The spicy ones had more kick to it than places like Popeyes but overall, the fried chicken was alright. The batter was thicker and it was harder than it was crunchy/crispy. Honey butter biscuit This was great. I really enjoyed the biscuit. The biscuit was nice and buttery with a sweet, honey flavour. I really liked the texture of it as well. Jalapeño bombers They were decent, but nothing special. Fried mac and cheese I was really looking forward to this, but I would not recommend this. It lacked the cheese flavour and it just felt a bit bland. Gravy This was better than Popeyes imo. But not amazing or anything. Coleslaw Good. I heard alot about this place so decided to try it. The packaging was good, and the order was not all over the place. Fries were cooked perfectly and they were not too salty. The chicken was the star of the show, moist and flavorful. I got the spicy one, and it was spicy but they do have the normal flavor too. Ordered a 3-piece combo with fries on foodora for pick-up at the store. The place seems doesn't seem to have much of a system in place for handling online orders. Get a bunch of other customers that also ordered online and they're pretty much preparing orders when you arrive. Which can be good I guess at least the food's going to be served hot and you can skip the line to join the other line. Chicken was enjoyable. Crunchy skin, soft tender meat. Fries were also pretty nice. Walked by on a Thursday evening and decided to walk in since they only have 4 locations in the GTA. I ordered the Thursday deal which was a 3 piece chicken for $5.99 and opted to get it spicy. They gave me 2 legs and a thigh. Upon first bite, the skin nice and crispy and the chicken was still hot. Thumbs up for that. As I took a couple more bites, I started to compare the spice and seasoning of the fried chicken to Popeyes. Verdict? I would say decently on par. Went here yesterday for some lunch. Church's Chicken is tucked away in a small entrance on Yonge street and easy to miss so look out for it on the east side. Overall it's meh. More or less a Popeye's clone in my opinion but it is cheaper, so it has that going for it. I ordered two things - a 3 pc and this weird cheesy chicken sandwich with jalapeno poppers (upon recommendation of the staff there, who called it the best chicken sandwich in Toronto). Unfortunately that was not true, and it has yet to reach the levels that CFA and Popeyes are at with theirs. The chicken sandwich's bun was subpar - it was dense, a little dry and even a little crushed. The patty itself was actually good and comparable to CFA/Popeyes. It was nicely breaded and overall a big piece of juicy chicken breast. However, why god did they put those cheesy jalapeno poppers and nacho chips in the sandwich? Who thought that was a good idea? The poppers were an overly breaded, cheese-filled mess with small bits of diced jalapeno inside. It honestly took away from the actual focal point of the sandwich (the chicken) and did nothing to compliment it. The same goes for the nachos. Maybe the other sandwiches are better though, but this one is definitely something to avoid. The 3 piece was good. Chicken was a little drier (ergo, not juicy enough) on the inside than other places. It may have been sitting outside for longer that's why. It pretty much tasted exactly like Popeye's chicken. read more

Haven't visited the location, only got delivery (a few times). The highlights: chicken is super crispy on outside tender on inside. The jalapeno poppers are SO GOOD. Crispy and crunchy outside filled with gooey cheese and jalapeno bits. If you like spicy, this is legit spicy. The biscuits are just heavenly. They're fluffy and moist, and glazed with a delightful sweetness on top. They even taste good microwaved the day after. The onion rings are well done too - very crispy batter. Now for the not so fave of mine: the poutine here I find is too salty and the fries get soggy (which I kind of expect for fries in a poutine but these ones aren't as good as other poutines imo) read more

So Popeyes was a pretty new discovery for me since I only tried it maybe 6 months or so ago. And just when my Popeyes honeymoon phase was ending I see that this gem opened up not ~300 meters from where I live. Let's start with the negatives. 1) I think my relationship with Popeyes has been destroyed by this homewrecking chicken company they call church's. 2) Things were starting to finally look up for my cholesterol levels but that seems like a distant dream now. 3) The fries were mediocre at best in my opinion. (Onion rings were great though!) Enough with the bad news, here are some positives! 1) The spicy chicken actually has some spice to it vs Popeyes (which has a great flavor also but different). The spice isn't an acid wash of your tongue but more of a slow burn that's bursting with flavor! Great for a cold winter day. 2) The biscuits are actually unreal! They seem to have some sort of honey/butter mix drizzled on top which is just the beez-kneez. 3) I can now tell people I attend church at least once a week which will look great on job applications! (Lord knows my CV needs the filler material) Dad jokes aside, I actually love the place so far. Though I'm torn in between two chicken joints and am having a horrendous go of picking "the one" I am very, very blessed to have basically won the chicken lottery and ended up living right next to both of my favorite chicken spots. I highly recommend giving church's a shot next time your even remotely near one. Oh yeah and a 4 piece meal was something like $11 and split between two people is the perfect meal! Move aside, Popeyes. There's a new, better fried chicken joint in town that clucks harder than you ever will. This chicken shop is aptly named, because here are Church's Chicken, I got a glimpse of God. I ordered the 2 piece combo, which totalled to $10. For that price, I got a drumstick, a thigh, a biscuit, a side, and a drink. The cashier tempted me with another piece of chicken for just a dollar more, and I'm glad I passed on that offer, since 2 pieces was plenty. The first bite of the drumstick was absolute heaven. The first layer was a crispy, golden batter that was bursting with flavor, and it was definitely freshly made. (Note: I came here on a Monday at around 6:30PM. It could have been made freshly in anticipation for the dinner rush.) The meat was juicy - the juice was literally dripping down - just salty enough, and it finished with quite a kick. Luckily, there was a biscuit to catch all of that juice. And this biscuit didn't need that extra moisture like Popeye's bricks usually do. These biscuits were light and porous with a drizzle of honey on top of buttery goodness. My diet Coke and cole slaw complemented the meal perfectly, cutting through the grease and leaving a clean mouth feel. If opportunity presented itself again, I would definitely come back to this holy house dedicated to the worship of chicken. read more

When we have family potlucks, I am usually the one to bring the fried chicken. For many years it was KFC but I find that the pieces are now small and greasy. I switched to Popeye's which was great when the chicken was Halal - somehow the chicken seemed juicier and tastier. I noticed this Church's Chicken a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try. I can say it will now be my go-to chicken joint. The pieces are huge, the batter maintains its crispiness even after travel for 40 minutes, and the meat is juicy and not greasy. My family was quite happy with this batch of chicken and wants a repeat at the next potluck. The only drawback was that we had to wait 20 minutes for the chicken to be cooked - which I suppose can be a good thing as I knew it was fresh. However, give yourself some extra time if you order here because there service can be a bit slow. read more

Solid spot for fried chicken! I actually am pleasantly surprised by Church's Chicken. First I love fried chicken but only eat it on occassion because well...I want my arteries to last for a few more years. But I feel fortunate to have found Church's because despite being a deep fried chicken spot, they actually don't serve chicken that has tons of fat under the skin! And by that I mean like zero white fat under the skin. ZERO. I mean I still retoasted my chicken in the oven and a lot of oil dripped out but hey its deep fried. But at least it doesnt have that added fat. Also I love how the batter isnt too salty (are you listening KFC?) And the chicken inside is super juicy. For me the spicy was more flavorful then the original. I would recommend this as a slightly healthier (if theres such thing) option for fried chicken. read more

My favourite was KFC growing up, and now it's just so greasy. Then I tried Popeyes and fell in love with that, but someone told me Church's Chicken was the best. Finally found a Church's and wow! This is the BEST fast food chicken I have had! No grease. Portions are huge. You can get dark or white meat. Good stuff! Do not go to this Church's chicken location at Yonge/Wellesley. They are shady. They knowingly do not give you a part of your order even though you have paid for it. So, they are essentially stealing your money! I have been to this location a few times. The first time I went, I ordered 2 daily specials and an order of honey biscuits. When they told me my order was ready, I looked in the bag and before I could open my mouth the person says "oh, we forgot to give you your biscuits". So, would they have said anything if I didn't check the contents of the bag? I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back. I ordered 3 daily specials, which was 3 tenders for $4.99/order. They asked if they could put it into one box, I said yes...save the environment right? They started to put the chicken tenders in the box and I was counting with them. I counted 7. They told me my order was ready. I told them I wanted to open the box to see my order. Then and only then did they say "Oh, we need to give you 2 more pieces". Really? I thought, were they trying to rip me off. I vowed never to go back! I obviously forgot about these 2 incidents because I went back today (Nov 11/2020 @ 5:21pm, server: Parry, receipt # 003-2-0043), wanting some cheap chicken. I ordered the chicken tenders daily special with fries, 2 piece chicken and an 3 honey biscuits. I was with my sister so was not paying attention. When my order was ready, we left. We go home and we realize they did not include the biscuits! They mess up my order all 3 times that I have been there? How shady is this location? It seems to me that they KNOWINGLY do not give you a full order. And thusly STEAL YOUR MONEY. This is now ingrained in my mind and I will NEVER go to this (or any) Church's location ever again. Definitely was a very friendly staff, they were chatting and talking about the new franchise and how good it was. Got a 3 piece spicy meal, as to directly compare it to local competition Popeyes. The chicken was definitely good, not sure how hey could make it so crispy but certainly wasn't complaining. It was good and fresh, but it just wasn't Popeyes. The chicken was a proper 7/10, the fries were alright and the biscuits were good, but nothing about this makes me think it's as good as Popeyes's. I ordered this from Door dash because I wanted to try it and compare it to Popeyes. I was not happy. The tenders arrived cold, which shouldn't have because the food was being picked up and delivered, the tenders should have been fresh knowing that they wouldn't be eaten right away. On top of that, I found a black hair on my jalapeño popper which is clearly not mine bc I am a blonde! It's really gross! The biscuits were the best part, soft in the middle and slightly crispy on top because of the melted butter that they broil. the chicken was very greasy (to be expected of fried chicken, but more so than the usual). Their tenders, wraps, and sandwiches are okay, but recommend their bone in chicken and wings. As for sides, onion rings and coleslaw would be my picks.
