Three meat combination: Roasted duck, soy sauce chicken and roast pork belly
Jo-ann H.

One of my favorite go to spot whenever I need something comforting and quick for lunch. I got their three meat combination and thousand egg/pork congee. The service is quick and it's a small intimate family owned place.

Tried out Chung Wang for the first when my go to Chinese BBQ place (Yan Tea) literally a couple shops down ran out of roast duck on Thanksgiving. Kudos to them both for the dedication to their businesses staying open on Thanksgiving!!! The people here are friendly and like to joke around, love it. As for their roast duck I couldn't complain! Well marinated with flavor penetrating deep into the meat, moist, and prices pretty comparable to Yan Tea. I also got their crispy roast pork which was also very tasty! They poke holes into the to go containers which is much appreciated to preserve the crispiness of the skin. One whole duck order should be two of these containers pictured. Wouldn't mind coming back again!

The best Chinese bbq pork in town.
Long T.

My favorite Chinese bbq meat spot in Houston. The bbq pork here is juicy and so sauced up. The crispy pork belly lunch box comes with rice and cabbage and a solid meal in itself. Lovely classic fried rice full of flavor. The Peking duck is juicy fatty and served with thin pancake crepes instead of bao. The place serves counter deli style and has a hole in the wall feel despite being in a relatively new shopping strip.

Small deli like spot with some seating but mostly for to go orders. I haven't had any actually crispy pork that's crispy and not like very hard pork skin, but this place it was a nice thin crispy skin!! The bbq pork is also just dripping in flavor and tender. They give you plenty of pancakes for the Peking duck. You know how some places stir fry things and it's not all evenly coated? Not here! The beef chowfun is evenly spread out sauce and tender beef. So is the pork fried rice. 100% satisfied belly.

Offal bento (marinated pig ears, intestine, and stomach)
Michelle O.

Offal bento (marinated pig ears, intestine, stomach) came with a side of crispy and oily cabbage and white rice. The offal's seasoning may be a little strong for some. The steamed white rice was good and what you expect. Chef Lau's Peking pork chops (sauced version) is good. It does have a lot of pieces that have bones (big and small) that need to be removed as you are eating. There are some pieces where there are less bones. I ordered for takeout, so the sauce (thin, sour and sweet) came in an 8 ounce container. The pork chop meat was tender and meaty. The batter was crispy and wasn't too thick or thin. The honey bbq was a little dry this time, even though it was freshly sliced like usual.

Good place to get quick, cheap, and casual Chinese food! You order at the counter and the food comes in a take out container. Good portion sizes, lots of flavor. The roasted pork was more fatty than I'd like but good. I'd come back!

Chinese roasted pork belly, $15.99/lb.

My wife and I will be visiting our oldest daughter in Baltimore next week. She missed Chinese BBQ or roasted pork belly and ask us to freeze some and to fly the pork belly with us to her. There is no real Chinese/Cantonese BBQ shack in greater Baltimore area. We were in the area and decided to try Chung Wang. The pork belly ratio of fat to meat was on point. The skin was nicely crunchy. The pork belly needed a little more seasoning. The owner and employees were friendly. The cost per pound was a higher than our favorite shack in Houston Chinatown. But this shack is much closer to our residence and much easier to get to. Overall, we were satisfied and will return to try other BBQ and foods.

Great food for the price with generous portions, and everything tasted really good. The staff were very friendly, and our food came out quickly, which we appreciated. The only downside was that it felt a bit stuffy inside, and the dining area could use some attention--our table and the condiments weren't very clean. Overall, still a good value and an enjoyable meal.

Definitely order Peking duck, roast pork and pork belly ( get there early) ! Beef chow fun & seafood medley chow mein is excellent too. Very authentic and excellent! We all love the thin hand made crepes with the Peking duck - excellent taste & delicacy. Pork belly was exceptional with incredible crispy skin. Definitely going back for more ... 30 minutes drive to get there / it was worth the drive but wish I live 5 min away We ate our roast duck & ribs already

#13 rice with roasted duck, roast pig and bbq pork.

Solid 4 stars for a to go rice box and 3 meats (duck, roast pig and bbq pork) Plenty of rice and cabbage with flavorful meat. Yum. Classic and simple. Small seating area. Perfect setup for simple good Chinese bbq meats and rice. Service was friendly and nice.

Nestled in a cozy corner of Katy Asian Town, Chung Wang BBQ is a gem for lovers of authentic Cantonese barbecue. The star of the show is undoubtedly the barbecue meats, each carefully prepared to perfection. Whether it's the succulent char siu with its caramelized glaze or the crispy-skinned roast duck boasting tender, flavorful meat, every bite is a symphony of taste and texture. The aroma alone is enough to whet your appetite. Beyond the delicious barbecue offerings, they also offer a selection of traditional Cantonese sides and accompaniments. We tried their Yuan Chow fried rice and absolutely loved the wok flavor in it! The owners are delightful and accommodating with our questions.

Beef Chow Fun (Dry)
Christopher C.

Solid place for char siu pork - got a16 and I enjoyed it throughly - a tad salty at times, but cannot complain. Next time, I'd get the char siu only! Beef chow fun is salty and pad see ew (-esque) Cheers!

When you're not in the mood to cook at home and want a hearty meal, look no further than Chung Wang for some Cantonese BBQ. The customer service is quick, friendly and the entree prices are decent. We got two bento's to-go: Roast Duck over Rice ($12.99) and Soy Sauce Chicken over Rice ($10.99). The meat is about 1/8 of a bird, a full bed of steamed rice, and a pint of sautéed cabbage. Make sure you ask for the minced ginger and chili oil to use as condiments in addition to their slightly sweet soy sauce. The restaurant is more of a takeout spot, as the seating is a bit limited. If you have rice and sides at home, just order some barbecued meats by the pound, a 1/2 or whole chicken/duck, and have a wonderful family feast!

The staff was friendly, and our orders were taken almost immediately after we were seated. We ordered the red char siu, XO sauce stir fried noodle rolls, salt and pepper crispy squid, and soft shell crab fried rice. The red char siu was on the sweeter side, which caught me by surprise at first. The XO sauce stir fried noodle rolls were flavorful and chewy, while the salt and pepper crispy squid added a nice salty, savory component to the meal. The soft shell crab fried rice was a bit bland on its own, but it balanced out the stronger flavors of the other dishes. Overall, the food came out quickly, and everything tasted good. They have an extensive menu, and I'd definitely come back to try some of their other dishes!

We ordered couple dishes family style: Stir fried cabbage - 5/5, surprisingly my favorite dish of the meal. The cabbage was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crunch, the subtle numbing pepper added a refreshing and addictive kick. Simple but perfect. Salt and pepper crispy seafood - 4.5/5, the runner up for me. The seafood was fresh, the batter was light and crispy, and the salt and pepper seasoning was spot on. Peking duck two way - 4/5, the duck is roasted well, however, the sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. Instead of the usual low effort duck soup, the duck came with salt and pepper duck carcass which was crispy and delicious. Egg tofu with dried scallop sauce - 2.5/5, this was pretty bland compared to other dishes and didn't stand out. The service was a bit slow, probably because we had a late lunch, close to staffs' midday break. That said, the staffs were friendly, and we really enjoyed the food.

Unlike some Dim Sum restaurants, Tim Ho Wan's menu clearly indicates whether a dish is vegetarian or vegan, which I truly appreciate. And even more rare, they actually have a few vegan options. The vegan Spinach Steamed Dumpling was my least favorite and would give it 2/5. The Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow) was good (4/5) and would totally order it again. The servers were friendly and helpful whenever there were present. I had to flag them down a few times. I tried to order beef ribs since it was a highly praised dish recommended by David N. and the waitress initially said they had them but then couldn't find them on the menu and pointed me to brisket instead. I just ended up ordering chicken feet, har gow, baked bbq buns, custard/lava buns, eggplant shrimp, shrimp roll and wonton soup. My table also ended up getting an extra dish for free since they brought it to the wrong table. This was a baked pork bun. This free item ended up being one of my favorites actualy as I thought it was even better than their bbq buns. My least fav was the chicken feet. They are a weird color, have an okay flavor but just weren't that good. I thought the rest of the items were just average dim sum. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't see myself returning anytime soon.

I don't write from the perspective of comparing this food to other Malaysian dishes that I've had in point of fact to the best of my recollection I don't think that I've ever had Malaysian cuisine. But if this restaurant is an example, I have missed a great deal. The food is very unique the servings are very gracious charitable. The prices are incredibly reasonable given the distinction of this particular cuisine and given the portions and quality of food that is served. The service is quite simple and the restaurant is actually quite small. However, I must tell you from A service perspective. It's truthfully amazing because the takeout business is extremely active. Not to mention the fact that the chef walks out and speaks to people will share anything that you want to know about Malaysian food and obviously from the quality of the food that I ate not only is his explanation thorough but my guess is his skills are incredible. As I said it is very small so it's difficult to Alpine about the ambience other than it was quite clean and given the number of whom I suspect were Malaysian people it's obviously quite popular within that community. So I take that to be a sign that this food is quite native in nature. I had a pork meal, which is only on Sundays. I spoke to the chef about it, and he explained that the preparation started one day in advance of actually serving the meal, so I understand why it is only served once a week. Although I must tell you because I lack familiarity it seemed to me that I would be hours and hours trying to replicate any of the dishes. All I can tell you is this if you are in an exploratory mood for a cuisine and have had or have not had Malaysian before I suspect this is a place to go.
