Three meat combination: Roasted duck, soy sauce chicken and roast pork belly
Jo-ann H.

One of my favorite go to spot whenever I need something comforting and quick for lunch. I got their three meat combination and thousand egg/pork congee. The service is quick and it's a small intimate family owned place.

Tried out Chung Wang for the first when my go to Chinese BBQ place (Yan Tea) literally a couple shops down ran out of roast duck on Thanksgiving. Kudos to them both for the dedication to their businesses staying open on Thanksgiving!!! The people here are friendly and like to joke around, love it. As for their roast duck I couldn't complain! Well marinated with flavor penetrating deep into the meat, moist, and prices pretty comparable to Yan Tea. I also got their crispy roast pork which was also very tasty! They poke holes into the to go containers which is much appreciated to preserve the crispiness of the skin. One whole duck order should be two of these containers pictured. Wouldn't mind coming back again!

Small deli like spot with some seating but mostly for to go orders. I haven't had any actually crispy pork that's crispy and not like very hard pork skin, but this place it was a nice thin crispy skin!! The bbq pork is also just dripping in flavor and tender. They give you plenty of pancakes for the Peking duck. You know how some places stir fry things and it's not all evenly coated? Not here! The beef chowfun is evenly spread out sauce and tender beef. So is the pork fried rice. 100% satisfied belly.

Offal bento (marinated pig ears, intestine, and stomach)
Michelle O.

Offal bento (marinated pig ears, intestine, stomach) came with a side of crispy and oily cabbage and white rice. The offal's seasoning may be a little strong for some. The steamed white rice was good and what you expect. Chef Lau's Peking pork chops (sauced version) is good. It does have a lot of pieces that have bones (big and small) that need to be removed as you are eating. There are some pieces where there are less bones. I ordered for takeout, so the sauce (thin, sour and sweet) came in an 8 ounce container. The pork chop meat was tender and meaty. The batter was crispy and wasn't too thick or thin. The honey bbq was a little dry this time, even though it was freshly sliced like usual.

Good place to get quick, cheap, and casual Chinese food! You order at the counter and the food comes in a take out container. Good portion sizes, lots of flavor. The roasted pork was more fatty than I'd like but good. I'd come back!

Chinese roasted pork belly, $15.99/lb.

My wife and I will be visiting our oldest daughter in Baltimore next week. She missed Chinese BBQ or roasted pork belly and ask us to freeze some and to fly the pork belly with us to her. There is no real Chinese/Cantonese BBQ shack in greater Baltimore area. We were in the area and decided to try Chung Wang. The pork belly ratio of fat to meat was on point. The skin was nicely crunchy. The pork belly needed a little more seasoning. The owner and employees were friendly. The cost per pound was a higher than our favorite shack in Houston Chinatown. But this shack is much closer to our residence and much easier to get to. Overall, we were satisfied and will return to try other BBQ and foods.

Great food for the price with generous portions, and everything tasted really good. The staff were very friendly, and our food came out quickly, which we appreciated. The only downside was that it felt a bit stuffy inside, and the dining area could use some attention--our table and the condiments weren't very clean. Overall, still a good value and an enjoyable meal.

When you're not in the mood to cook at home and want a hearty meal, look no further than Chung Wang for some Cantonese BBQ. The customer service is quick, friendly and the entree prices are decent. We got two bento's to-go: Roast Duck over Rice ($12.99) and Soy Sauce Chicken over Rice ($10.99). The meat is about 1/8 of a bird, a full bed of steamed rice, and a pint of sautéed cabbage. Make sure you ask for the minced ginger and chili oil to use as condiments in addition to their slightly sweet soy sauce. The restaurant is more of a takeout spot, as the seating is a bit limited. If you have rice and sides at home, just order some barbecued meats by the pound, a 1/2 or whole chicken/duck, and have a wonderful family feast!

#13 rice with roasted duck, roast pig and bbq pork.

Solid 4 stars for a to go rice box and 3 meats (duck, roast pig and bbq pork) Plenty of rice and cabbage with flavorful meat. Yum. Classic and simple. Small seating area. Perfect setup for simple good Chinese bbq meats and rice. Service was friendly and nice.

Nestled in a cozy corner of Katy Asian Town, Chung Wang BBQ is a gem for lovers of authentic Cantonese barbecue. The star of the show is undoubtedly the barbecue meats, each carefully prepared to perfection. Whether it's the succulent char siu with its caramelized glaze or the crispy-skinned roast duck boasting tender, flavorful meat, every bite is a symphony of taste and texture. The aroma alone is enough to whet your appetite. Beyond the delicious barbecue offerings, they also offer a selection of traditional Cantonese sides and accompaniments. We tried their Yuan Chow fried rice and absolutely loved the wok flavor in it! The owners are delightful and accommodating with our questions.

How does this place stay in business? The crispy pork we ordered tonight was overdone and hard to eat. The meat was so tough and leathery. You can't sell this stuff. This slab should have been discarded before serving it to customers.

Beef Chow Fun (Dry)

Solid place for char siu pork - got a16 and I enjoyed it throughly - a tad salty at times, but cannot complain. Next time, I'd get the char siu only! Beef chow fun is salty and pad see ew (-esque) Cheers!

My sister in law enjoying the soup dumplings, she says it's the best she's ever had!

The meat is always so tender and delicious, we drive 40 mins weekly for a taste! For your first time here we recommend getting one of the plates with all the types of meat so you can know which types you like the most. We were introduced to Chung Wang at the Asia Society's annual Night Market, and feel so lucky ever since.

What's the difference between Pi Pa Duck and Roast duck? Does anyone know what Royal Chicken is also?

There are three types of roast duck in Chinese cuisine. The most famous is Peking duck where the emphasis is on the crispy skin that is eaten with pancakes, spring onions and cucumber. The most common is roast duck which is the one we find at most… Read more

The spicy green beans were only a bit spicy, and I liked the sliced garlic in the dish. The wonton noodle soup was great (with fish broth!), and the way they packed the takeout was great to make the noodles not mushy. The egg tarts were wonderful, so fluffy! However when i entered into their Katy location, several workers saw us and ignored us, despite having only 2 small tables filled on a Friday night. We had called ahead and made reservations for a large table of 12 so they put us in a private room w 2 round tables. But we sat at the larger one. We got notice that 2 of our attendees couldn't make it so we let them know and they said that because of this we couldn't sit inside this room and we would have to move outside (but we'd all started drinking and ordering at this point) - I asked why? There were no other ppl here and we all got settled in. The head person came and said we have to pay extra to stay in this room, if we chose to. I didn't understand why- again it's Friday 7pm and they are empty! So we moved tables outside the room to main dining. They said they couldn't put out tables together and we have to sit next to each other.... Needles to say, it was annoying. We ordered food and it was very slow despite no customers. Portions are super small, lacked traditional tastes that the previous restaurant had and way more expensive. For 10 people we spent around $600. I don't mind paying as long as the food is good. It was very Americanized, small portions and w horrible service, it was disappointing to say the least. We won't be going again!

My wife absolutely loves their house special rice cake--it's a must-order appetizer for us every time we visit. For this meal, we went all out (as we usually do) and ordered a variety of dishes: General Tso's chicken, orange beef, shrimp with candied walnuts, beef and chicken flat noodles, and a side of spicy green beans. We always end up ordering a bit more than we need, but that's part of the experience--everything tastes great, and the leftovers easily turn into additional meals later in the day. Tan Tan Wok consistently hits the spot with flavorful dishes and satisfying portions. It's a place we genuinely look forward to coming back to. On average, we spend around $85-$90 including tip, which is well worth it considering the amount of food and leftovers you get. Highly recommend if you're craving quality Chinese food and enough to feed family of 4 with plenty of leftovers.

The curry is thick with potato and super tender chicken and the roti canai bread is chewy but somehow still flaky and flavorful at the same time. It was so good that I ordered another one for myself to go to let my partner try it at home. Malaysian Chicken Satay (5/5): You will read "tender chicken" in my review several times. It's not a joke. The chicken nearly melts in your mouth. The last time I had meat this tender it was a filet mignon that was 6x the price of this dish. Char Kuey Tow (4.5/5) and Mee Goreng (4.5/5): Yeah we got both the flat noodle and the mee goreng. Because both are awesome. Noodles stayed chewy, beansprout and veggies were great, proteins were great. Not too saucy. Solid. The middle gets a little soggy if you let it sit too long, so chow down on this whole it's hot! Roasted Hainanese Chicken (4/5): Nothing against the dish itself, I just don't like all the bones. Yes, the chicken was beautifully tender. Chicken rice, also fantastic. Curry Chicken Puff (4.5/5): So this was way more filling than I expected. It's like an intense Asian empanada? Totally worth it. Comes out really hot. Lastly, we got a serenade from the man himself. Yes, he pulls out a mic and sings. It's his break from cooking during the dinner rush. So, you might indeed get dinner and a show! It's beautiful to see someone who enjoys what he's doing - and his voice is such that some people think it's a song over the intercom instead of live music, take that how you will :) TL;DR: Absolutely contends for Best in Katy. Yes, it lived up to the hype. Come and eat family style and you won't be disappointed!

Really nice orange flavor and tender chicken. So much fun eating it since it is gluten free! Our kiddo also devoured this dish! Mild - not spicy at all! The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful.
