Tried again, still not bad but not great. It's the quintessential greasy spoon diner. Cash only but they got an atm inside. The coffee is generic and the foods good enough. The place has some wear on it, but the common touch areas are clean. Servers are nice and helpful. Always make sure your tiny coffee cup was full. Overall, it's okay

I met with the guys on May 7, '23 who produced the movie titled "The Supermarket". These are folks who used to work at long-gone Ellington Supermarket (where the movie was filmed). A local breakfast eatery which is all about classic fine dining where the good souls eat and meet good friends. If you're from Ellington and you have never visited this establishment before, I encourage you to spend a dime on real comfort food. From Eggs Benedict to Fish & Chips to French Toast, its restaurant is more than just a breakfast eatery. Subs and fried Seafood are good lunch deals. They're so delicious that you'll want to come back. Food is tasty, staff are courteous and the atmosphere resembles locality. It is one of Ellington's finest dining establishments the community has to offer If you want to enjoy breakfast dining experience, consider visiting this establishment because there's a lot of items to find on the menu that is really good. Folks, hop on Chuck Wagon and ride along for excellent food. Excellent service!

Items can be pricey, but you get what you pay for. Some of my favorites: oatmeal bread, blueberry pancake cupcakes, strawberry rolls, early riser rolls - to name a few. We also love their apple crumble pie, their pepperoni picnic bread, and their sugar cookie pie around the holidays! For me the coffee is hit or miss - sometimes it's amazing other times I don't love it ... maybe have to do with the syrups I choose to be honest. They currently have a bakery location in Ellington and an additional drive thru location down the road in Ellington, a location in Stafford, and will be opening in Hartford in 2026. You can also find them at the outdoor Ellington farmers markets on Saturdays. Highly recommend checking them out. Their staff are all beyond pleasant as well. Still pricy, still tasty…read more Gone a few more times over the year or so. It's a good bakery, stuff is always fresh and the flavors in each of their cupcakes, muffins, breads, and other misc bakery items is present and forward. They know that they are good, and charge accordingly. Given that there's no direct competition in a 10 mile radius (and I would argue even past that 10 mile radius the pickings are slim) the price is justifiable for the quality you get. As someone who treks a lot around the state, I find that there are many bakeries that do similar if not better items for comparable if not lower prices. But to ask someone to drive 30-60 minutes just to get something a couple bucks cheaper that's tastes about the same? It's a hard sale. I will say that Luanne's is the best in that area of the state, not including the small boutique places that are well off the beaten path. I still come here for the view and ambiance, but I don't order much of their food.

The place was packed when I got there, lots of locals all enjoying their company and their dishes. Got a seat at the counter right away, grabbed a menu and checked through their offerings. Decided on French toast with real maple syrup and biscuits and gravy. Food came out quick especially with the crowd. Everything was cooked, the French toast was okay. Not soaked enough, toasted with butter but not a lot of cinnamon in the dredge. Not great, but very functional. The biscuits and gravy were very much a northern take on the southern classic. Grands biscuits grilled on the flat top with grey goopy gravy on top. Very lackluster. The staff was very friendly, and the price was very cheap. Even with the golden delicious branded syrup upcharge the bill was only 12 dollars. Which is very affordable given the quality was not so great. As a generic diner, it does basic dishes well enough. There's not a ton of breakfast spots around, so it does well as that local greasy spoon. Doesn't need to be fancy, cause it's one of the few places in town and they are serviceable. I wouldn't drop by on my travels, but if you need cheap eats then this place will fit the bill

Chip portion appeared small, larger portion or smaller pan would help. Chips were cold, thinner than most chips I've had. The salsa was nothing special, a little too spicy for the wife. When we ordered our tacos, I was disappointed to learn they were out of steak. They only had chicken, pork and shrimp selections. I ordered "Street Taco", my wife "Southern Shrimp". Since they were out of grilled steak, I asked for recommendation, for Street taco filling which was pork. Tacos are served on soft flour tortillas unless hard is requested. For $1.50 more, I ordered it "Gringo Style"- which includes shredded cheese, sour cream and shredded lettuce. Taco was nothing extraordinary- pork was a little dry, a little too spicy for my taste. More "Gringo" ingredients would have been better. Taco wasn't what I expected, but then again, my experience has mostly been with Taco Bell... A nice perk is that NCT is a BYOB eatery. The eating area is a big open, high-ceiling space, the seating area a combination of tables, benches and high-top bar. A "Day of the Dead" wall-size mural adorns the children's rec area that has a video game machine and rack full of board games. Service was on point, place squeaky clean. The atmosphere highly conducive to a relaxed family outing while enjoying your choice of imbibement. I didn't get a chance to try it, but my wife said her shrimp taco was good. She is a light-weight when it comes to spicy, so I believe her, makes me wish I ordered shrimp, it was not a meat option for the Street Taco I ordered, maybe it should be. My review is 2-stars short mostly for being out-of-steak on a early Saturday evening, and lack-luster appetizer and taco. I still think with some tweaking, this place has potential to become a 5-star spot.
