Crooked and flat out liars. I bought my 2020 Ram from them new. They talked me into this miracle Cilajet application for $1,000, which I knew was a rip off but they said I could come in for a second application in 5 years for free so it averaged out to $500 each time. Called them after 5 years and 3 months and they said oh we are sorry, you had to schedule it within 30 days after the 5 years was up. I was not happy so the finance person said she would make an exception and schedule me the appointment. I thanked her and set the appointment for a month out. About 2 weeks before the appointment I called to reschedule because I was going to be out of state for business and the finance person said sorry, we already made the exception so they were not going to reschedule me. I said I could take an earlier or later appointment within the month if they had any availability and the answer was still no. Not only did they screw me out of this Cilajet application they also tried to tell me my front control arms were bad when I took it in for an oil change and to investigate a noise coming from the front suspension. They wanted $3,000 and couldn't get it in to fix it for over a month because the parts were on back order. My truck was under warranty still but they refused to cover it because I had a leveling kit put on by Les Schwab. When I bought the truck the sales person told me a leveling kit wouldn't void the warranty and in fact told me to have Les Schwab do it to save me some money. They said they have Les Schwab do all their leveling kits for them anyway. I took my truck to Les Schwab and they said my control arms were fine. They showed me when they tried to move my tire up and down while on the rack, the tire should move if the control arms were bad. Come to find out the boot covering the ball joint was ripped and all it did was keep dust out. Les Schwab fixed the boot for free and fixed the noise also. Needless to say Chuck Patterson is a crooked outfit who doesn't give a dam about their customers. They will say anything to sell you a vehicle, lie about mechanical issues to make a buck, and won't stand behind their service when it was promised at the time of purchase. I will definitely file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and never step foot on that lot again. Peace out A holes! read more

First I went to the clearly marked Dodge side of the dealership, they sent me to the other side clearly marked Toyota. That office then walked me across the service bay to a glass door labeled Dodge. 3 customers waiting, no one inside working... He came back talking with a coworker and cursed saying my office is busy again. More curses as he walked that customer out with a mirror tag. Finally served at the cubicle about 15 min into being here, they are going to check and see if they have a visor on stock. Cy from the service department is the worst. When I first brought my Jeep to him he discouraged me to schedule 2 weeks out for a measly $175 battery to be covered under warranty. A person with one vehicle might have just paid the $175 to buy a new battery. Then when I finally did get my Jeep in, I told him I would be in a little after 5:00 to pick it up. He left before 5:00 and everyone had to scramble to try and get my key out of the lock box that nobody knew how to do. He was just combative, argumentative, and just hard to work with. Less than 2 years later, my battery went dead and I found out he sold me an old battery. Or used. Who knows. I tried to talk to him about this. I blew out a tire on HWY 32 just east of Chico on Labor Day - after hours. A tire shop I had previously used did not give me back my lug but key. I found myself stuck in Chico until the dealer opened - hoping that they might have a master key. Shout out to Cy and Arlen, who absolutely rocked my predicament and made everything better! Cy oversaw and Arlen matched up a key that worked, put on my spare, and I was on my way home. It might not sound like a lot, but when you're stranded and feel like luck isn't on your side... it's good to know that there are quality people that know what customer service is all about! Thx Cy! My Jeep had a couple of recalls that I had been postponing because of COVID. Once vaccinated, I took my car in to correct the recalls and to have some deferred maintenance performed. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. Several people were ahead of me, maybe because there was only one service writer on duty for Jeeps. I only had to wait a few minutes when I returned at the time they told me my car would be ready. While correcting the recalls was free, the other services were expensive. $20 each for two windshield wipers. $70 for an air filter. I declined to pay another $70 for the cabin filter. $99 for changing the oil and oil filter. There were a few problems with the services. For one thing, one windshield wiper was loose; it had not been properly installed. I was lucky we're out of the rainy season. Had I used the wipers I believe the loose wiper would have fallen off the car, probably leaving a semi-circuital scratch on the windshield from the metal arm. Another thing, after about 2000 miles the 'Change Oil' warning came on. For oil changes in the past I had always used the Express Lane. That service writer always explained the options for service ... did I want synthetic oil? Did I want the tires rotated? Not the same at the main service counter. To be honest, I think they gave me the gold-plated upgrade without explaining what I was getting for my money. Another thing I very much like about the express service is they give me a report on the tread depth on the tires, the air pressure, the thickness remaining on the brake pads, and a few other things. That information helps me keep my car safe and reliable. No such report this time, which was a big disappointment. When I paid, they gave me a coupon for a free car wash at Scrubs but not when I bought my car back in to have the windshield wiper properly installed and to have the Change Oil warning reset, which wasn't done the first time. read more

We love our jeep dealer where we live but unfortunately my daughter is in Chico at college so she felt like she had to take her jeep here to get service. The service department is horrible. She's treated like complete crap because I was on the phone with her the entire time at drop off and pick up and I heard the entire conversation. Completely unprofessional and rude. My family has bought many cars from Chuck Patterson. Last car in May. So of course being from chico we wanted to buy locally again. My son was interested in a green charger that was there. We sent him first to check it out test drive it and if he liked it we would come down and do the paperwork. They turned it on let him look around but didn't let him test drive it. The salesman said they only let them test drive it unless your going to buying it. Who buys a car with out testing driving. Especially for my son has only driven lifted trucks. At this point I feel it was racially profiled. I called to complain, and said that they don't let people test drive it cause there trying to keep the miles low and also that young kids peel out the parking lot. One star because I can't give zero. 2nd visit for RECALL COVERED repairs. Last week Darryl said it would cost $170 to determine what RECALL repairs they needed to do. I left and called the Chrysler recall number to get some help. They said Chuck Patterson's should have simply done the repairs and not charged me a penny. Chrysler set up another repair appointment and assured me that the repairs would be done free of charge. One of the recall items is VERY DANGEROUS and could cause death. The Total Integrated Power Module (TIPM) can cause many problems including air bag deployment and loss of all power when driving. It also can cause fuel pumps and other things to stay on - long after the car is shut off. This causes your battery to drain. Today, Steve at Chuck Patterson's refused to replace the TIPM until I get a new battery. I don't need a new battery if the TIPM is repaired (I had AutoZone do a battery diagnostic and it is perfectly fine). At this catch-22 place in life, Chuck Patterson's should jump start my battery, as needed, until the problem is fixed. They think this is unreasonable and refuse to be inconvenienced. I am reporting them to the NTSB for refusing to fix a recall. read more

This dealer has the worst customer service and maintenance department. Whenever I need to get services i.e. maintenance recalls or warranty work, I have to call at least four times to finally get somone to shecdule an appointment. This last time I called twice a week for three weeks, I left a messages with two different individuals. I didn't even get a call back. The only way I got an appointment was by driving down there and walking in. Of course they acted like they never received any messages, but gave me about a million reasons why they wouldn't have got it and how busy they were. If your wondering why I even deal with these boneheads it because I am forced to. The vehicle is a company vehicle and they are the only dealer in town. But lately I have driven to Redding just to avoid Chuck Patterson. Let me tell you that the inconvenience of driving an hour and fifteen minutes is well worth the service and the turnaround time is half. By the time I would have to walk in to Chuck Patterson to make an appointment, it's already done in Redding. If your like me and are forced to go to Chuck Patterson, I feel your pain. This place is terrible! The service department is a joke. They are denying a warranty repair on something they "fixed", that broke 2 days later. My Jeep is a 2018 Rubicon with only 8,000 miles on it and the rear defroster has been broke for months now. I was honest in my survey, that I received from Jeep after the initial repair, and gave the Service Advisor Cy, a bad review. The reason I did this was because, when I brought my Jeep in for the repair he tried to tell me that the rear defoster broke in a car wash. I told him that wasn't possible, the part that was broken is not on the outside of the vehicle. I did not care for his demeanor or the fact that he tried to make me believe a car wash broke my defroster from the outside. Now they are denying the repair, beacause of my survey. When I tried to contact the Service Manager, I was transferred to a Human Resources manager. I was never able to speak to the Service Manager. She called me back to say they are suggesting I get a second opinion at a different dealership. I should've listented to everyone when they told me this place was terrible. I have worked in this industry for 19+ years and I would never treat our customers this way. I was always taught that you should make it right with the customer. I stopped here to buy some DEF, and was thoroughly disgusted that the dealership chose to park a new car in such a way that they are partially blocking the only handicap spot on the right side of the business. They've left radiator caps off, replaced bolts with the wrong ones, and apparently unable to diagnose unless a screen tells them what's wrong. My daughter was using my truck She went to start it and it wouldn't start. She called Chuck Patterson Dodge and got an appointment for Monday, July 13th. The truck was towed to the dealer. She was advised that there would be an inspection fee. Later in the day she was told by Chuck Patterson Dodge that they had inspected her car and the starter needed to be replaced. The fee to replace the starter would be $1,065.47. She called me and I told her to tow it back to her house because that was taking advantage of a young girl. Before the Dealer would release the car, she needed to pay the inspection fee. So she went down to the dealer, paid the bill and told them a tow truck would come pick up her car. When the to tow truck driver showed up the guys at the dealer told him, just drive it on up, nothing is wrong with the truck. The driver then asked my daughter when he took the car off his truck, why didn't you just drive it back. She told him they told her the starter needed to be replaced, she didn't know it was drivable. I went to Chico to check on the truck and the only problem was a faulty battery connection. Had an actual inspection been done on the car, I believe that this would have been identified in the inspection. read more

So, "Darrin" tells me that he has "30 years as a "tech person", which I assume means that he is a mechanic. With 30 years of experience, I expected expert advice about suspension repairs. But, "Darrin", this 30-year expert mechanic, explains that "he will replace the rack-n-pinion and if that does not solve the problem, then he will replace the struts and shocks". I declined this "expert experimentation" and went elsewhere. And found a reliable repair place that identified the problem following a 15- minute inspection. They repaired the defective unit. Two people work at Patterson Jeep section. "Darrin, the self- proclaimed expert" of 30 years who merely begins by replacing the most expensive item on the Jeep. Dump him and Patterson. Never consult with the other guy, a bald-headed guy, short, fat, and stumpy with a short guy's complex, who will lie and steal you blind. His estimate on work turned out to cost $1000 more. Additionally, he added "premium" products without my authorization and that he refused to describe. The lady above him stupidly said "it is the way Patterson does business - sue us or go away". Patterson, owner, refused to discuss with me the issue. So, I left word that I was submitting a complaint to Chrysler Corporate office. Patterson phoned immediately. I told him it was too late. The guy became very emotional and began to be abusive. I said good bye and hung up. People of this sort go out of business eventually. It may take time, but, eventually dealers who are abusive, and mechanics who experiment at repairs, and who add "premium" without adequate explanations will go out of business. Another mechanic told me problems all over the place means high level of turn-over. So, be aware, get it in writing and dump the bald-headed liar and thief. read more

Over the years, my wife and I have dealt with car dealers all over northern California, from Redding to Elk Grove and Roseville to San Jose. We have always preferred to buy American made automobiles and to purchase as locally as possible. Unfortunately, since Volpato's closed, local dealers either didn't have what we wanted or ran us off with their shady tactics. That all changed today. We just bought a new Chrysler 300 from Chuck Patterson in Chico. We were treated with respect and able to negotiate a fair deal without all the high pressure, high anxiety, hard sell tactics we have experienced elsewhere. We knew we wanted a 300C in a specific color and with a minimum of options. We also knew the closest match was either in Sacramento or the Bay Area, but wondered if Chuck Patterson would be willing to save us the hassle of going out of town and do something called a "dealer trade." After a test drive in a similar model and a couple of hours of negotiating, we arrived at a good price for the car, including rebates and our trade-in. They agreed to bring the new car to Chico so we could finalize the deal. It arrived the next day and we were delighted. At other dealers, it can be an all day ordeal to arrive at a fair price (if you can get one). They stick you in a tiny room, play tag team and come at you from all sides. Once you get a sales price, they try to add on all kinds of things (hidden fees, undercoating, gap insurance, extended warranty, etc.) and then they turn you over to the finance manager who tries to beat you up all over again. None of that happened at Chuck Patterson. Sure, they offered some of the after-factory stuff, but never pushed it or insisted when we declined. We had our financing already set with our credit union and they were fine with that. All in all, this is the single best car buying experience we have ever had. We did our homework ahead of time and knew exactly what we wanted. They understood that and dealt with us honestly, courteously and with a sense of humor. Thanks to everyone, (Chuck, Jake, Karen) but especially Dan Thorup, who was the lead salesman, for getting us into the car we wanted and allowing us to keep our dollars in Chico. read more

Chuck Patterson Dealership of Chico, CA lost out on the possibility of a $50K sale on 8/12/14 due to their TOTAL lack of interest in selling us a car; and their downright rudeness. We went there specifically to check out a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, which we had been searching for over the internet, and finally found at this dealer. When we got there, we were told they didn't have it anymore. Then we were told someone's wife was driving it around, and they were trying to get hold of her to bring it back to the dealership. While we were waiting, we decided to check out a nice Grand Cherokee Limited; which we ended up trying to get more information on. We even had them do an appraisal on our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, which we were interested in trading in. Forty-five (45) minutes later, STILL no Overland for us to see! Neal was our (supposed) salesperson, who was totally preoccupied with something else. Chuck was the (supposed) "Manager" on the premises. Chuck was also so totally pre-occupied with some other matter, that he spit out a quote on our trade-in, waved the paper at us, and then turned away and went about his business! We replied: "Thanks, but NO thanks", and walked out the door. Turn to the next day: We just got home with our new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that we purchased from John L. I went into the service department and they had two nice good-looking gentleman there and after they started talking I could tell they had absolutely no clue. I asked what kind of oil they use they said whatever comes in its stock I asked what kind of brand they said they did not know. Then I checked around about doing my oil change myself I went to Amazon I bought both Fuel filters for my brand new truck, It is here that I found I will not do business with Chuck Patterson. At Amazon ,I bought both of my filters for $90 ,At Chuck Patterson they wanted a price and this is a quote from their parts department $233.17 for just the filters .As you can see there are other places to buy your parts other than the dealership and this is why dealerships, I guess stay in business.
