Finding an automotive repair shop that's both honest and affordable isn't easy, but this shop truly stands out. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with respect and given clear, honest information about what my vehicle needed. They never tried to upsell unnecessary repairs and took the time to explain everything. Their prices were more than fair, the work was completed on time, and my vehicle runs better than ever. It's refreshing to find a business that values integrity, quality workmanship, and outstanding customer service. If you're looking for a trustworthy mechanic who does excellent work at a reasonable price, I highly recommend this shop. They've earned a customer for life! Omar is fantastic! read more

This was my first experience with Affordable Automotive, but I expect it won't be my last. My brother's truck needed to be smogged and an oil change. They took care of both those things, and performed a courtesy check of fluids and belts, and they fixed one other problem. I was so impressed with the friendly and professional manner of Kirsten when I called for an appointment, and with Mike when I picked up the truck. Their communication was excellent, and I felt like a valued customer. This is a business who knows the meaning and the value of customer service, something that many businesses seem to have forgotten. Thank you very much for a great experience! read more

I second the scam claim for this place. We were recommended to bring our vehicles here by a coworker and were so disappointed and now we are also broke. My husbands truck wouldn't smog and they charged him hundreds for things most places don't charge for like different system flushing and fluid checks to trouble shoot. They returned his truck back and still couldn't get it to smog and had no idea what was wrong with it. I think he spent over a grand having it there for a week just to get it back no better then we left it. We took it to another place in town who informed us we had gotten ripped off and it didn't really look like they did anything, how embarrassing. Now we have to wait and try again when we have the extra money... until then he has a truck he can't drive, that won't smog, and is racking up fees while we wait to renew the registration. read more

I recently had my truck smogged here and my experience could not have been better. The guy that met me at the counter was a really nice guy and it wasn't until later that I found out he is the owner. The process was really simple & I was in and out in less than an hour. Will 100% go here again. read more

I am deeply disappointed in their staff. I was taking my car into them for years and loved how kind and upfront they were. Or so I thought. My last appointment with them before I moved out of Chico, they failed to inform me that my suspension is in really poor shape and in need of repair. I only received news of this when I went to a different repair shop in San Jose and the owner told me that it was extremely dangerous that I had been driving around like that. It was not okay for their staff to withhold such crucial information from me and now it is going to cost me thousands of dollars to repair. It is out of the kindness in my heart that I give them at least two stars, otherwise I would have given them one. read more

Great reliable service. The text message with the link to the estimate and approval made things fast and easy! It also didn't cost an arm and a leg like most other shops. The staff and mechanics were knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They even sent a follow-up text a few days later just to check how everything was running! Now THAT'S EXCELLENT SERVICE in my book! Thanks go out to Mike, Sam and the rest of the crew for making car repair easy and painless! read more

Affordable Auto is a scam type low level mechanic shop. Be prepared to be lied to and cheated out of your money. I couldn't say enough bad things about their business practices. read more

Car guy and have high expectations for people that work on my car and adorable automotive hit the mark. A number of young guys running the show but customer service was good. Mechanic that worked on my car was knowledgeable and went the extra mile looking at something I was having trouble diagnosing. Price was good. Communication was good. Location was good. Only ding I'd give them is I dropped my car off right at 8 and they weren't don't until right at 5. With an appointment I would have thought I'd have been before walk-ins. It worked out but would ask more specifically next time. read more

Mike is very professional, on time, respectful, responsible, explained everything, fixed the issue fair quickly, and his price was more than fair. GREAT LISTENERS! My vehicles each have issues but Affordable Automotive Park Avenue was able to resolve them in a timely manner. I try not to bug them when they have my vehicle ... I know good service can take some time. Rather fix it right the first time. I work on most of my own vehicles, but when I have trouble resolving an issue - this is the place. A definite asset to the North Valley. A+ read more

Best. experience. Ever. Simon and Sam were awesome! I called on Thursday morning just to see how long it would take to have my car assessed for a crankshaft pulley replacement job. Simon told me they could look at it the same day and I was shocked! That never happens. The communication on what was up with my car was excellent. I appreciated their text updates communication system as I can't always answer my phone while I'm at work. They had my car done the next day as promised and were under what I expected to pay. Sam helped me out by picking me (and my kid) up in the shuttle 10 minutes after I called. Am mos def going to take my truck their for repairs also. Thanks guys! read more

My 2017 Honda Accord just lost power on the freeway on my way back from Oroville. No fun. I asked the tow truck driver where do most people tow their trucks to? He said affordable automotive. I can see why. First off they drove the car and it didn't do anything so he called and said there was no problem and he wouldn't even charge me for a diagnostic test. After I talked a bit about my concerns he said "let me drive it again." This was Friday at 5pm. I got a call back at about 5:30 saying he drove it and it had the problem again. The next week it took him a couple days but he fixed it. They are highly knowledgeable, honest from what I gather, and have great customer service. Highly recommend. read more

We took my sons car in because we had replaced a couple of sensors and still could not get the check engine light turn off. The staff was friendly and made sure we understood what needed to be done and the cost. The repairs were done quickly and we had the car back the same day. It's a great feeling to take your car to a shop you trust and don't feel like they took advantage of you! read more

The first and only automotive shop that had my car ready when they said they would. How refreshing. Had these guys do my 60k maintenance on my Honda. They were all very friendly and professional. Saved me over $400 in comparison to what the dealership wanted to charge me for the same work. I will be taking my car back to Affordable Automotive. Thanks guys! read more

A small locally owned business that does a good deal of advertising. If price is not a concern this may be just the auto repair shop for you. Once before we had work done and later found out the price was significantly above comparable shops including the auto dealers. Most recently we took our car in to get an estimate for a spark plug change for our 2008 sedan. Without looking up any information about the car the man at the service desk said "about $400-$500, and we will need the car for a day." We checked RepairPal.com and found the Chico price range was $200-300. Chico Car Care on E. 9th St. gave us a written estimate of $257 and did the work in less than two hours and offered a ride to work and pick up if needed. They did the work at the quoted cost and time. For us, Affordable Automotive in definitely not affordable read more

Since the fire I live part time in Chico and my car has lived there full time so the battery doesn't get the use it needs. It's been dead a few times but this time there was no resurrecting it. I had it towed to Affordable Automotive. The mechanic, Dustin, my fav mechanic, checked it out and found the alternator needed to be replaced. He checked the car out thoroughly but that was all it needed. A company with less integrity might get me to "fix" something that really didn't need to be fixed, especially on a car with 286K miles on it. I appreciate a good mechanic and I really, really, I appreciate an honest auto repair shop. Everyone was really friendly and nice too. read more

This place is a joke. They misdiagnosed my car, the mechanic I took it to said it was a rookie mistake. They tried to charge $1700 for a fix I didn't need. The guy who I spoke to was such a jerk, the reason I didn't go w them is because he said he didn't want to work w me when I had the slightest question about his diagnosis. They are jerks, they are rude and they apparently don't know what their doing. They are also a rip off. "Affordable" automotive, I don't think so. read more

After driving for Uber for a year in Boulder, Colorado, I recently moved to Chico. To get started driving with Uber here, that company needed a new inspection of my car. I had a choice 1) of getting a BAR-certified garage in Chico to do it for a fee; or 2) drive to Sacramento to have Uber do it without charge. Uber informed me that any garage that does the inspection should charge "no more than $30." But "Affordable" Automotive wanted to charge me $50. When I told the person on the phone that Uber said it shouldn't be more than $30 I was told "$50 is what we charge." Yes, I took half a day to drive to Sacramento and back. Uber inspected my car, literally, in less than two minutes. So, at that rate ... "Affordable" Automotive wanted to charge me $1,500 an hour. read more

I took my car to Affordable Automotive for a smog check today and they completely screwed me out of $40! My check engine light had been on for a year already because of some superficial electronic problem and apparently this means that there is no way I could pass a smog inspection. Instead of having some COMMON COURTESY and informing me of this, they proceeded to do the smog check knowing that I had no chance of passing and then hand me a bill for $40. These guys are complete crooks! Additionally, the owner had the nerve to call me and badmouth me over the phone because I chose to voice my complaint on the internet. What a class act these guys are! read more

They have done it again ! Voted best Auto shop 4 years in a row, Affordable has always been good to me! Recently, I needed to replace a motor mount and have my power steering checked. They installed the motor mount and fixed the problem. They also recommended that I get the two others looked at soon. I had tried to correct the power steering leak myself and was very unsuccessful. They checked and found that the hose was all the way detached. The charged me a VERY reasonable amount! They are always courteous and friendly and they remember returning customers names and vehicles! They are awesome! Check them out! Melinda D. read more

I cannot say enough good things about these folks. My Prius had a funny ?electrical smell and the brakes seemed to grab a little. They checked my car and reassured me that all was OK. They did not try to sell me a brake job and told me it would be another 10-20K miles before they would need to be done. I highly recommend Affordable Automotive. read more

Got service done for my vehicle and it happen in a timely fashion. They know how to get a job done.

The whole crew, from owner to mechanics are great. They did a great job with my '01 Nissan Maxima, they were fast and very competitively priced. My only complaint is their location, which on a busy day lacks convenient parking. But on the other hand, I don't think I've ever been to an independent mechanic with a great location. ;) read more

Affordable Automotive has done many car and truck repairs for us. The have always treated us more than fair. They are very good at diagnosing the problem and then getting it fixed right the first time. When one of our work vehicles have a problem they always make an extra effort to get us back on the road fast so we can get back to work. Mike Buttons the owner is a great guy! This is a busy shop for good reason. Had a piece falling off my car, nothing too pressing but needed to be done. I had requested an appointment on their website between 9-10. They actually called me back in a timely manner. Next day problem solved with no aggravation and because it was just a bolt no charge. WOW really!!! I'm disabled and could not have done it myself and kind gestures like this will make me a lifetime customer. Thanks Affordable Auto read more

My wife took her 2007 Toyota Yaris to AA to get a new alternator. They charged her twice the amount that another reputable repair shop quoted us. We figured that maybe they were doing more work, or replacing some of the wiring. We just found out that they were charging her over $300 for a refurbished alternator. The other place quoted us $210 for a quality new one. They apologized for not having a cheaper one in stock. A A does good work, but will over charge you. I'M wondering if they would have charged me, a male who knows his way around an engine, the same amount. We will not be going back to AA. In these tough times they shouldn't be overcharging people. read more

A big shout out to Simon at Affordable Automotive. I brought my car in with a check engine light on and he ran a quick check on the code and determined that no repair was needed right now I just need to monitor. The Affordable team has been great to work with. They have put an enormous amount of time and energy into fixing my BMW. This included overnighting auto parts, picking up my vehicle from my home to work on it, and always keeping me informed on the work being done. I highly recommend this shop - friendly service and great work. read more

Absolute pros. Top notch work at a great price. Can not recommend enough. Will be going here for all my automotive needs

Perfect service! Over the past few months, I've been having quite a hard time with car troubles on a newly bought, used car. While that is very stressful, Affordable Automotive has lessened my stress MAJORLY! Not only by fixing my car on multiple occasions and always in a very timely manner, but also taking their time to give in-depth explanations, trustworthy and great advice, and throughout they've tried to just help me in anyway they possibly can. I cannot thank them enough! HUGE RAVE TO AFFORDABLE AUTOMOTIVE... Especially to John, he's been so helpful!! From now on, I will be referring everyone to Affordable Automotive!!! read more
