I would given them zero stars if I could! I have going to this smog shop since 2019 for both my cars and a 1998 class A motorhome (gas). I've never had an issue with any of my vehicles getting a smog test before. This time around it was the motorhomes turn for a check so I called and made an appointment for 8:30a (the parking is tight at their location so earlier is better). The person on the other end of the phone asked the length of the coach because they can't smog it if it over 34'. I told them it was 34' and they said fine and we set the appointment. I get there 15 minutes early on appointment day and a person comes out and measures the coach...and it's exactly 34'. I grab my paperwork and go into their office and they tell me no they can't smog it. Absolutely no reason given, and they would not even try, just kept telling me it was policy. I told them I took a day off work to get this done and that the coach met their convoluted rules for length and weight so what's the problem. Nothing except that their policy wouldn't allow it!! I never thought I'd feel prompted to review a smog place, but I've had an amazing experience each time I go here, so it's past time to spread the word. The people who work here are outrageously friendly, efficient, transparent, and genuine. Their whole place just has a great energy about it, and I always leave glowing. Glowing. From a smog check. When I renewed my vehicle, I saw that I had to have a smog certificate. This is the second time I have come to this shop and have been pleased with their friendly efficiency. I was in and out in a very timely manner. I appreciate that they file the certificate electronically so I don't have to do anything, just wait for my tags. When I couldn't remember the name of it, I asked SIRI for the name of the "smog shop in Chico owned by women." It popped right up. I'm very happy to support a well run women owned shop. read more

They are failing cars for OEM Ford dealer catalytic converters without CARB numbers on them. OEM dealer cats many times do not, this shop doesn't care and fails them anyway. Do not go here. They are illegally failing cars. read more

I have been taking all my vehicles to Smog Busters on the Esplanade in Chico every time I need to have a vehicle smogged. When I remember, I call and make an appointment. When I don't remember they always fit me in. They are fast, efficient, and a good price. It also gives me a good reason to sneak over to the Italian Cottage. Steer clear of this place. Instead of doing a quick google search for the right carb number for a LEGAL airbox they will just fail you. I had the incorrect sticker for the airbox. Simple error by the TOYOTA DEALER when I ordered the carb sticker. But the tech insisted I had an incorrect airbox...one for a 2 liter when I have a 5.7. Really you think that would fit? Common sense needs to kick in sometimes but not today. read more

Needed a smog check and was in and out in 20 minutes even though I scheduled last minute and I was a little late. The atmosphere inside was really nice as I typically feel a bit of tension when getting oil changed or smog checks in previous years at other locations, but there was something calming about this location. Cost of a smog check is around $55 also which is about right. Would go there again in the future. read more

The ladies here know what they're doing! Car didn't pass smog due to my intake hose having a crack in it which I had no idea. Got it fixed then took it back same day and it finally passed! Aaa in chico recommended them as I went to renew my tags and forgot I needed a smog test. I made an appointment as they are quite busy; super friendly staff and they were very efficient and on time. I had a coupon from the local paper which they honored it was not very much off . In these current times everything helps! One thing I will say is there was broken glass in the parking lot when I parked , not sure if that had just happened, hopefully it gets checked out . NOBODY likes getting their car smogged or going to the DMV. But, maybe I need to rethink that! Smog Busters is great. I had a 10:00 appointment, arrived a few minutes early and before I could settle into a chair with my book, my truck was done. Just like that.
