I needed to get my car smogged, and this shop came at a recommendation of a coworker of mine. I called in the morning, and luckily they were able to make a same-day appointment for me. The man at the front was incredibly kind and helpful. I was in and out in about 20 minutes, which to me was quality service. My total came to about $58, and to me that's a good price when it comes to a smog inspection. Will definitely return in the future, and recommend my friends to come here. read more

A & T Auto (NOT) Care's mechanic returned my car leaking gas from a cylinder seal he cracked and left leaking! When my car was returned to me, I noticed it had a strong odor of gas fumes. I voiced my concern to A & T Auto (NOT) Care's Inc. office assistant, who said a little gasoline leaks when they swap the coils, but the strong gas fumes will air out and my car was safe to drive. NONE OF THAT WAS TRUE! The gasoline was leaking from the cracked seal as I drove my car! It was a health hazard & fire hazard! When I called A & T Auto (NOT) Care Inc. again, the office assistant continued to assure me my car was safe to drive! I took it back the next day and $645 later they "fixed" the problem. This was all after I had spent $1,173 three weeks earlier on getting recommended maintenance service and their mechanic and diagnostic test showed my car was running great and in great shape! I have owned and cared for my Toyota for over 20 yrs., logging many miles on road trips and local driving. It never has broken down or caused problems. After getting my car back, I had another shop check a leak I noticed under the power steering reservoir. (In the maintenance work I had A & T Auto (NOT) Care Inc. flush and replace my power steering and brake fluid as well as the coolant.) The second different auto shop's mechanic stated A & T Auto (NOT) Care Inc.'s mechanic had not cleaned the power steering line nor replaced the clamp. So I paid them to do that and check the other fluid jobs done by A & T Auto (NOT) Care Inc. (another $100). A & T Auto (NOT) Care Inc.'s owner, Jeff Sponsler was very dismissive about my concerns about the fire and health hazard condition my car was returned to me. Unacceptable, unprofessional and definitely NOT caring! I now don't know if all the spark plugs A & T Auto Care Inc. replaced were new and correctly installed and if the slow leak from my power steering pump was caused by A & T Auto (NOT) Care Inc.'s mechanic. (It had not been leaking previously). I also don't know if all the jobs they did were done correctly. In addition, their invoices do not accurately show the correct description of jobs done. Example 1, One invoice I received showed I was charged for a fuel injector replacement when the mechanic had just swapped one fuel injector to test what was causing my check engine light to go on for the first time ever! Example 2, an assortment of jobs they supposedly did and I had already paid for continued to be listed as "recommended" on four subsequent invoices. I spoke with A & T Auto (NOT) Care Inc.'s office assistant who said their system is limited on the descriptions of jobs done and he said he'd take off the "recommendations." Work with them did not meet the quality standards they promise or the quality service I've received from the many mechanics I've used in the past 30+ yrs. of car ownership. What ethical, professional, knowledgeable mechanic would return a vehicle that is leaking gasoline onto the engine and creating a toxic health problem as well as a FIRE HAZARD? What ethical, professional, knowledgeable auto shop owner would allow this kind of work and be so disinterested in the problems caused? read more

Gifted my truck to my sister knowing it needed just an evaporator for the ac. Being a girl, I'm sure this shop tried to exploit my sister for more money. They tried to charge 2000 for a much cheaper job. Very disappointed. They quoted her for an entire replacement of the ac system. Crooks read more

This place has gone down hill. Went to get a smog and was welcomed with, "ugh, this is the last year I'm doing these RVs. I'm tired of it". 60 seconds later I got a fail. The vibe has become very judgmental. They know I've lived in my RV since the Camp Fire and made me they're the type who judge people still living in RVs. While in the waiting room a guy comes in to pick up his car. Came right back in and says his car won't start. I understand getting burned out. Especially in 2020 but to be rude to your customers is something we can do without. read more

I had an older Ford pickup that had failed smog. The inspection station said it was the EGR valve which would need replacing. I couldn't get a repair appointment there and so took it to A&T for repair and certification. I'm very glad I did as they took the trouble to troubleshoot a little further and determined the fault to be a piece of tubing to the valve, not the valve itself. The truck passed and I saved quite few bucks! Good on them for taking the extra effort. read more

Honest, fair, and knowledgeable. They fixed a pesky short I had in my directional signals of the dodge truck. I took my truck to four (4!) other places and no one could fix it, but they charged me for trying. A&T tried once and couldn't fix it but didn't charge me. They wanted to fix it and tried again. Jeff is awesome! He brought my camaro back to life after it had been parked under a tarp for over two years. He got it running again, fixed a problem it had had with dying in idle since that no one else had been able to figure out before, and smogged it for me! Since then, the camaro has been back to see him quite a few times as it's a 90's camaro and it's a diva. He's switched the shocks, transmission mount and did an especially great job fixing the driver's side window, and I'll be bringing the camaro back in again soon (like I said, diva). Jeff's also an incredibly nice and funny guy, who is kind enough to leave the camaro insults to a minimum and even said it was "Zippy... for a V6" once, which is especially nice considering how much of a pain I've been told 90's camaro's are to work on! Anyway, all in all, I would highly recommend: very reasonable, resourceful, really knows what he's doing and funny to talk to, which means a lot to me as I'm not down with the creepy/jerkish mechanic types (no offense, I get it. Just not my preference and have had bad experiences in the past). read more

The worst experience!! I was visiting my mother in Chico. I live in San Jose. My car overheated and my mother had it towed to A&T (her mechanic). Jeff replaced the water pump on May 8, 2015. The bill was $548. My mother paid for it. I do have an old car, 92 Honda. I got home and had the same overheating problem. On May 11 I took my car to my mechanic and he said it was the thermostat housing not the water pump that needed replacing. Another $108.38. My car was not operable most of the time. On July 1 the crankshaft pulley fell off. It was never put on properly at Jeff's. Another $100. On August 12 the alternator needed to be replaced because all of the previous mistakes. Another $250. I sent Jeff invoices and pictures of the damages on an ongoing basis. He did have my car towed back to chico at his expense. After that he stopped all communication with me. The water pump never needed replacing and when it was, a lot of other problems were created. Jeff told my mother that the cracked bolt was already there. Seriously? I'm really upset because I feel he took advantage of my elderly mother. How many other women are victims and don't even know it? It's not about the money. It's the principal at this point. read more

I had a great experience today at A&T. I went to have my old RV smogged. I was greeted by a very friendly person. She let me know that they were doing a special favor for me because they don't normally smog large rvs like mine anymore. The technition got to work on it and after awhile it was done and it passed. If this is the service that they do for everyone then I reccomend them. read more

My auto place is the freaking best. I took it in a few times and they didn't charge me, just said, "just come back if you have any future issues," so they have a customer for life. I took it in this morning because as it is the beginning of Summer, as is tradition, my a/c stopped working. I went here for an oil change and a tire change, simple right, wrong they said they had a slight complication with installing the oil so course I ignore it and if I'll be damned the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and to my surprise the oil can poped out and the line was shot, I had to walk a couple of miles just to get a tow! This place is awful. I took my car in for a 60,000 mile service and they didn't perform more than half of what they were supposed to. They didn't change the transmission fluid. They didn't replace brake fluid and they didn't change the spark plugs. So, i paid $180 for an oil change, rotate of tires, air filter and a replacement bulb. Oh, and they said a brake inspection which I doubt. TOTAL RIPOFF. read more

Jeff and his team were amazing! I kept having on going issues with my check engine light. Jeff was able to quickly figure out what was wrong with my vehicle after Pep Boys and O'Reilys just ran a scanner and told me they couldn't help me. Start to finish Jeff was able to diagnose, fix, and pass my car for smog for a great price. His staff was also very friendly and helpful, they were able to accommodate my busy schedule and set me up for appointments that worked best for me. I've been a regular at A & T for about a year and a half, and I always forget to review it, which is silly because it's probably the best auto shop I've ever been to. Jeff has always been very straightforward and honest about the work that needs to be done on my Civic and has given me reasonable quotes when bigger issues arise. I'm a college student, so he makes sure to prioritize the work so that I can afford to pay for the most pressing issue first. There was even one time I took my car in between classes to get the oil changed, and they were closing for lunch but Jeff stayed an extra 10 minutes for me to come grab my car so I wouldn't be late for class.
