Absolutely shit customer service. I asked for a pre inspection report for a pre owned 2008 Toyota matrix, apparently that's not something that can be emailed or sent photos of. I was told I'd have to drive to the dealer in person to request this?? What are we living in the stone ages... other dealerships have zero issue with this request but this dealer on the other hand can't be bothered. Apparently they are the best rated Toyota dealer in all of CA.. or do that's what Jodie claimed.. laughable considering the yelp and google ratings for this dealer. I would not go back for service there. The man who is head of the service mechanics is very rude, some old dude. He also made a comment about how my dad should have told me about oil change intervals (I was too early for the change but came for maintainence). Like huh?? My daughter Graduated Chico State 2 Weeks ago and unfortunately she's had two different car issues in the past 4 years while at Chico. We were referred the first time (Chuck Patterson) and we're skeptical because it was a dealership. To our surprise the service, price a d fix was unbelievably excellent. Quick reply, reasonable estimate, and got the work done prior to when they told us they're gonna get the work done. We really felt that they were trustworthy they were, in particular the gentleman we dealt with employee Nick. Fast forward last week.....A week after graduating my daughter was making her way home w a full car of her stuff.... 3 to 4 minutes her car just stopped working a s Two different alert lights came on. Slightly Panicked We had the car towed to Chuck Patterson Toyota late in the day. The next morning Nick (from Chuck Patterson ) called me right when the place opened and he was all over it. Told me he'd get to the car as soon as possible give me an estimate and see how we wanted to proceed. Came back to us when he said he would. The fix cost was priced very reasonable in comparison to what we looked at at other places just to see if the price is right. The car will be done today. If anybody runs in the car issues in Chico this is where you go. I'm a big believer, when fixing things, trust is huge....you also need to make sure that get fair price, friendly service, and meeting expectations in term of ETA on fix. Nick helps again! read more

I wasn't sure how my experience would go based on the Yelp reviews (which 99% seem to to be about the service department team which was just recently overhauled), but my new car purchase experience with Jeff Marles was pleasant and truly exceptional! I did not let the outdated rating scare me from driving 4 hours to purchase a car I've been waiting for for almost 1 year. I was amazed because I put my name on the waitlist and then 8 months later when the car was available Jeff called me. It felt nice because they said they'd make a waitlist and they really did, unlike some other dealers in Northern California. When I went to purchase the car, Jeff made sure to fulfill my request to not remove transport plastics. He really went out of his way to do this. The transaction was smooth, the price was great, and the finance manager Amy was straightforward and honest. I definitely recommend working with Jeff (who has been there for 10+ years) and Chuck Patterson Toyota. For your new car. worst service I've ever experienced. I will never by a car or truck from them again. the service department has no experience whatsoever. I've had 4 services done to our new 2023 4Runner that we paid $66k for. the 1st oil change they couldn't manage to put the oil filter on right, my wife gets home to Magalia and there's oil all over our vehicle's engine bay and all over our driveway. they had to tow it away. 2 out of 3 oil changes they managed to knock the wheels out of balance twice. now we have to bring it to someone who is more competent than kids that don't know how to put on an oil filter or rotate tires without knocking them out of balance or losing wheel weights. Tell you they are doing the recommended maintenance, you pay for the recommended maintenance, and can find out they never did the work they billed you for. Consequences can be a damaged vehicle. Overall, Patterson people have an attitude of "We don't care about you, about our own expertise, about pride in our job or integrity with our work!" If you need Toyota service go to Spencers. You'll thank me! Here's what happened. I received a recall notice for my Toyota and contacted Patterson about doing the work. I provided my VIN and an appointment was scheduled. This morning I arrived for my appointment only to be told that my truck did not need the recall work. I explained to Sean, the service writer, that I had given received the recall notice, given the VIN to the service desk and had the appointment scheduled. I asked him why they would schedule an appointment if my truck didn't need it. Sean's response 'I don't schedule appointments'. He was very arrogant and dismissive of the issue. If he had apologized this would of been over. Once I got back in the truck I called to talk to the service manager, the woman who answered the phone would not connect me and insisted I tell her what happened. I did, and her response was 'they are very busy'. Again, no apology for Patterson Toyota wasting my time. This place need new management, and customer service training. read more

Edit: In order to be completely fair I do want to update the review. I was finally able to get in contact with someone from their customer service department. She was extremely nice and worked with me to get me a rental car. Credit where credit is due she was amazing and did a lot of work. The initial experience was terrible but I appreciate that it was resolved in the end. I can honestly say this is the worst service I've ever gotten when it comes to car repairs. Chuck Patterson Towing damaged my car while towing it. No problem, I call them to set up a date to get it fixed and they say they will cover it. Great, I bring it in the day we scheduled. I call at the 3-day mark, mind you this is all to take care of some minor front bumper damage, and am told that it's in body but no painted yet. I ask for a timeline and the lady says sure, she'll call me right back. No call back. I call back the next day, she apparently forgot. She tells me that it will be 3 more days. I sent it in Tuesday and took time off work in order to prepare for not having a car. They tell me it won't be ready until Monday. 6 days later. No offer to cover a rental car, or any such amenities. So now I'm out of a car for 6 days for damage that THEY DID. I only wish I had a way to tell even more people not to use this business because this is absurd. Customer Disservice. I highly recommend you do not take your vehicle here for service. I purchased a new '23 Highlander and was told the vehicle range would calibrate after a few tank refills. The issue persisted at 1k miles they said it would take 5k to calibrate. Ultimately, they gaslit me repeatedly and attributed the problem to "aggressive driving behaviors", or topping off the tank, which was both inappropriate and not backed up by the data ie. normal gas milage. I brought it in at 5k, and they claimed it would calibrate after 10-15k. So, I opened a case with Toyota and it turns out Chuck Patterson just went ahead and closed the case without even reaching out to me! That's embarrassing. The other Service Department I took it to actually validated the problem and demonstrated willingness to help me actually solve it. So, I will be taking the vehicle elsewhere from now on. If you want to be gaslit, lied to and discarded, take your vehicle to Chuck Patterson in Chico. I will gladly go out of my way to avoid any future service here. read more

This review is for the service department. Dropped my truck off at 1120 for a 2 hour recall repair. Showed up at 215 and it has not been started yet. My last service was scheduled at 730, I show up and was told the mechanics dont start until 8am....ummmm ok. Poorly ran department. Now I'm at my next service, 1215 appt. Show up 10 min early and was told everyone had just left for lunch. WTF? H Why would you schedule an appt for lunch time? 1 hour into it and they finally got the truck on the rack, 40 min later and I'm still waiting....all for an oil change. I checked the many Yelp reviews of this dealership...and it is a sad commentary for them to be a 2 -star dealership. It is also notable that the dealership has no apologies or responses to the many negative reviews posted here. It certainly appears they don't care about those they have offended. For them...the customer is always wrong. Now, let me explain about my day... Last January, I suddenly was in the market for a new-to-us car after a fender bender totaled our 20 year old Toyota Camry. We needed it quickly and found another Camry we liked at a Sacramento Toyota dealership, when we were down visiting family. That dealer kept us there for 5 hours waiting for the finance paper work...but that is a story for another time. We have been happy with the car, and we bought an extended service plan that is "good at any Toyota dealership, nation wide." Fast forward to this week when the car needed service according to the mileage. We had previous had it serviced at the Sacramento Toyota Dealership and the Oroville Toyota Dealership, so I wasn't expecting trouble today. But trouble I got. I had made an appointment for service today and needed an early drop off, as my wife and I both got to work before they open. We were the first appointment of the day. Shortly after the service department opened, my wife got a call saying "We can service your car, but you'll need to pay the difference between the $45 that Toyota will pay us and what we charge for the service. We won't take what they pay us as payment in full for the service." "Why?" my wife and I asked in separate phone calls to the service manager. Answer "Because we didn't make any money when we sold you the car, and we didn't make any money off of selling you the service contract. We can't take a lose on the service for you, for if we did that for everyone, we'd go broke." (I again expressed my displeasure with the service manager in person as I picked up my key and car...and got the same answer.) So have you ever heard a dealership say "We service what we sell."...this dealership says by their behavior "We ONLY service what we sell." Apparently this decision was made by people even higher up in their administrative tree...and the manager told me over the phone it was made by the owner. Thanks for nothing, Chuck. It is amazing to me that this dealership would not encourage brand loyalty among the larger Toyota driving family. This vehicle is the third Toyota I have owned, and I generally like the vehicles. This is my first experience with this type of horrible customer service...and it stinks. As I told the service manager... "I'll never be back." For the cost of about $300.00 over the rest of the service appointments under this service agreement, they have lost my good will. I was afraid my car would not be drivable by the wedding. They were determined to get me back on the road so I could drive to that wedding! Arriving to the dealership for my service appointment made the previous day. I was a few minutes early before my 11AM appointment time. Checking in with service advisor Nick wasn't so bad other than him stating that the mechanics all go to lunch from 12PM-1PM. He estimated things to be done with my car around noon after mechanics make their way back from lunch. He stated repair on my tire to be $40, when literally yesterday I called to talk to a service advisor about my situation and was quoted for repair at $11. Only reason I decided to come to this dealership was due to potential chances of having to replace the whole tire with I had warranty coverage I bought with the car. Which this location was the closest to me willing to take the warranty from Toyota Financial Services. As I'm sitting in the waiting area, which is basically on the showroom floor for about 2 hours. I noticed something odd that one of the salesman did. Diagonal from where I'm sitting you can see a huge computer screen that the salesman was using. And due to the fact I used to worked in car sales I noticed the salesman pulled a customer information aka Vinsoultions and walked away from it while this customer information is right in the open. Huge violation to customers privacy! He walked away and left it wide open. 15 minutes passed, yet he left it the way it was. Now a customer who was waiting for service to be done on his car, starts to pace back and forth in the showroom and eventually came across it and glance at it for a minute and walked away. Than follows by another salesman colleague who also glanced and walked away. Later 25 minutes has gone and the customer information is still visible. Lastly I watched the desk manager walked past and glance at it and walked away too! Yet the saleswomen who was selling a car at the time, sat her customers right in front of it. What a shame that none of the sales-mans nor did the desk manager logout of it. Yet anyone could've walked up took a picture or started clicking and eventually violated the customer information even more. Eventually after 30+ minutes the computer finally turned off due to inactivity. Got my blood boiling, because this could've been my personal information being leaked out without permission. And to whoever is looking for a car and you had submitted your information on their site for a car they have or have been a previous buying customer at that location looking to purchase again. You should think again before doing so. Also for your other employees be mindful of what comes out of your mouth especially on the showroom floor. Having to hear you say f*** you to a colleague with customers around isn't professional for a business. Last but not least service was horrible I waited 4+ hours for a tire repair and a recall system update and was promised that it wasn't gonna be long by 2 of your service advisors. Y'all overbooked your appointments and I wasn't the only one waiting 4+ hours. l've decided if I ever have to do a replacement on my tire in the future. I'll take it to where I bought it, knowing they will coverage it with the tire and wheel protection warranty too. read more

I have a serious recall issue for my Toyota. I have put it off because of the attitude I got on the phone. I called a year ago and was put off. It is a one hour procedure (faulty airbag- metal shards that can kill you)- but they wanted the car all day. I asked if I could make an appointment and wait. They said no. They didn't seem to care at all. I put it off for a year. I made an appointment- and they said they would keep it all day- but take me home and pick me up. That was 3 phone calls to sort that possibility out. Since it seemed so complicated- I called to confirm today. The girl at the service desk phone was awful. She was short and testy- and could care less. She said if I wanted a ride- I would have to call and make arrangements. Which I thought I already had. Long story short- I felt reluctant to bring it in because I was getting conflicting information. She asked- are you going to keep the appointment? When I hesitated and said- well. DO NOT GET WORK DONE ON YOUR PRECIOUS CAR AT CHUCK PATTERSON IN CHICO!! THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!! Wished I could give these guys NEGATIVE FIVE STARS. Please read my whole experience to really get the just of what I am reviewing these scammers about! After taking my car in to get a replacement airbag due to a recall a few months back, they told me that they had checked my whole car engine for my safety. It was a pleasant experience the first time and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket so I was happy. While I was leaving however, they told me that I needed to get my engine belt replaced within the next 1,000 miles or so because it was "really bad and I would be stranded somewhere on the side of the road if I didn't get it fixed ASAP." The guy immediately asked me when I wanted to set up an appointment to get it fixed so I naturally assumed that this was a good idea because no one wants to be stranded on the side of the road! So I signed up and did so. I am not car savvy but I'm also not an idiot so I did a lot of research on the cost of replacing my belt would be. It came out to be somewhere around $150 usd which is pretty reasonable since my car model is the year 2007. My appointment came around and I went in only to find out that the price was going to be upwards of $300!! It was twice the amount I should be paying for. I did not allow them to work on my car and decided to call Gary's Automotive because I had heard a lot of good things about it. I should write them a glowing review next because of this! They are known for being trustworthy so I called the guy who was working which was an older man but I forgot his name. I asked him if I could bring my car in that morning to get the belt changed and he said he could do it and when I asked what the price was, he said it would be $150. I was so mad and disappointed at Chuck Patterson that I went in and accused them of overpricing their work. Horrible customer service, instead of diffusing the situation, she said "well, we're not Gary's Automotive," as if they were better than Gary's!! I took my car and drove over to Gary's Automotive all the while panicking and hoping my car doesn't die on me. Once I got there, I gave him my keys and paid for a Lyft home because he said it could take a while since I called in instead of having an appointment. Little did I know, half an hour later, the mechanic calls me and tells me THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR!! He said that my belt was brand new and I didn't need to worry about it for a long time. I had to pay for another Lyft back to Gary's Automotive and wasted so much time and money that day! CHUCK PATTERSON WAS TRYING TO SCAM ME! I was so shocked because I never knew places like that would do something so low. I thought untrustworthy mechanics would do that to get more dough in their pockets but I was proven wrong that day! Afterwards, I even had my relative who has a lot of experience and a bachelors in mechanics take a look at it, because I was still a little worried in the back of my head, and he also said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it! I have told EVERYONE I KNOW about this event and I hope something happens and they fix it. Scamming people is so so wrong and we cannot allow this to keep happening. These scammers caused me to have ANXIETY over my car for a WHOLE WEEK then tried to make me OVERPAY for their RIP OFF business! I remember this day like yesterday and finally got around to writing this review. The mechanics are lucky I am nice enough to not write out their names on this review but I do have their names and they know who they are. You should all be ASHAMED. We have been going to Chuck Patterson since we bought a car there in 2017, but don't plan to ever go back for car service or repairs. We suspected my alternator went out (power steering stopped, check engine light on, battery light on etc) and had the car towed to Chuck Paterson. They told us that it was actually the water pump that was broken. A few days later, my husband goes to pick up the car and then is told our alternator is about to go out and the car battery light and check engine light were still on! My husband was pretty frustrated. They took the car back and returned it with the lights off. Next day all the issues that we took the car in for start up again! After numerous attempts to contact a manager the following Monday they say they want to properly diagnose the car and fix it. As we first suspected, we are told it's the alternator and they want to charge us another $1,300 to fix it! We had already paid close to $1,500. read more

My toyota rav 4 the vehicle stabilization light and system would kick on going around any corner going 45 or over of course I'm on an out of state visit traveling. Took it to grants pass toyota they said I needed a new battery replaced it and headed to calif. Made it about 1 and 1/2 hours home and it started again and at higher rates of speed this is so dangerous. Made it home Made apt. At chuck patterson toyota. They diagnosed it again replaced my shocks and other items. Over $2000. And driving to chico state farm a loud bang something repeatedly hitting under my car. Pulled off the side my shock had come off at one end and was hitting hard against my tire and the metal hub part. I called I needed help I was treated rudely I needed my car towed in that was not going to happen I was told rudely so I put some bungee straps on the shock and strapped it to my car and very slowly drove my car back to toyota. Supposedly they put another new shock on???? So yesterday I had to take my car back to them it is. Not fixed!!! I am frightened at what they will say is wrong now since obviously the first diagnosis was wrong. And how much more it will cost?? I'll let ya know what happens when I hear. read more

A manager at an earlier job I had, who had just bought a porsche, reflected on the experience with "They screw you just a little, but they make you feel so good". May 2015 I got everything I wanted in a truck from Chuck Patterson Toyota, but they screwed me a lot, and made me feel like a chump. I wanted a 2015 TRD Sport Double Cab Long Bed Tacoma with a JBL system, specifically in Blue Ribbon (the last year that color was available) and this was the closest one in 1,000 miles. At the time, my wife had better credit, and we are loyal customers of USAA, so she applied for an auto loan that would cover it, and got a good rate. We went there with a pre-approval, and requested to have them match some deals Toyota was offering, that amounted to a $1,000-$2,000 in savings. They stated that the deal was only if you got Toyota financing, and pressured my wife to apply for their financing to get it. At that moment, we should have just walked away, and ordered one from the East Coast. However I was impatient, and I didn't protest when they succeeded in convincing her to fill out an application. It came back with an interest rate that couldn't compare with what we walked in with, but what's worse, her credit score had just lowered because of this unnecessary credit check. The two salespeople that were 'helping' us were very cocky about not lowering their price. Stating that it would be gone in a week. As I type this, I still regret giving those shysters money. So I drove it home, and it was the first time I had ever felt so bad for buying anything. Well I definitely learned a lesson in patience on that one. I improved my credit, and refinanced into my name. So I still have an awesome truck that is worth much more than I owe, however I'm not willing to pay that price again. I filled out a customer satisfaction survey with the above, and the gist of their response was to "inform us of the buying process", and not offer an apology and try to make things right. I'm so glad I don't live in Chico anymore, if nothing else, for the fact that unethical businesses like Chuck Patterson Toyota think they can screw their customers without any consequences. read more

I understand where a lot of people are coming from in their negative reviews of this toyota as the first time I was here I was young and the salesmen Jeff definitely took advantage of me and pressured me into a lease that I'm not sure was right for me. However, after coming back a second time a bit older and more versed I was greeted by a great guy named Shayne he showed me the car I was interested we went for a spin and I loved the test drive. The cool thing about him is that he didn't try to lie or cover anything up. He just laid it out as it was and was very transparent about how he gets paid, prices, and he made sure my car arrived in time to take advantage of some incentives on the car I wanted. I highly recommend him as he is knowledgable about the cars and he puts your needs on the priority list. I give it 4 out of 5 because the first visit was less than memorable now that I look back, but I give it 4 out of 5 because my most recent visit definitely helped my view on the place! My car was given to them for repairs in December and was told should take up to a 3-4 weeks and they first were on it and then was updated that they put my car back together and also messed up on headlight wiring so had to go back In service. Then after fixing that and trying to give it back to me they found another sensor wrong so went back to service and was supposed to get my car this first week of February told from Lisa and brad keep giving high expectations that they can't live to and obviously work to! I've been very patient and understand for delay in parts and the work. Once I finally get my car fully repaired which who knows how long, I will no longer be going to Chuck Patterson services and body shop. read more

Went in because my brakes were squeaking, told them it was my brakes they ran a diagnostic and said it was my AC. it cost me 100$ and 4 hours just to tell me they didn't have time to do anything about it and they didn't actually do anything besides check the grade on the brake pads. the people I talked to in the shop were very nice, The man i spoke to in the office said it's probably the rotors which was infinitely more helpful than anything else. I have literally no idea what disconnect there was between "my brakes are squeaking when it's cold" to must be the AC unit. I've been to other Toyota dealerships for service and they were actually helpful. read more

Worst Toyota dealership in the local are, go to Oroville or Redding. They do not honor their deals and are very shady. Save your time and don't over pay or fall for the bait and switch. read more

I first contacted Chuck Patterson Toyota through CarGurus.com. I was emailed rather quickly by Emma, who said that she "would work with [me] to get a better price" (LIE #1). Then Eduardo called then texted me after I sent them driver license and registration information and my credit score so I could figure out payments, etc. He told me that their $500 discount for internet sales was all they could do on the price, since they had made a mistake in pricing it in the first place (LIE#2). Emma emailed me again, and I asked about the price again. This time, she told me that they were raising the price "because of so much interest in the vehicle" (LIE #3). At that point, I shrugged my shoulders, sent an email to Emma saying that I wasn't sure what was the truth, but if they could not lower the price, I couldn't buy the car. Things should have ended there, and I wouldn't be writing this if they did. But then they pissed me off. The next day, Emma wrote me an email, apologizing for any "miscommunication," and asking whether or not I was still interested in the vehicle. She apparently did not read her email very carefully. I emailed back, saying that it was difficult to do business with them since I could not tell which of their statements was a lie, and that I could not afford the vehicle at the asking price (that they were going to raise, but they were "doing me a favor" by keeping the price they quoted for me). I would have thought that would have ended things, but Eduardo texted me asking me if I had run my finances and to give him a call. Out of curiosity, I looked up the vehicle on CarGurus and on the dealer website. It was still listed at the same price as the day before. I texted Eduardo back, telling him that he and Emma should talk more - to get their stories straight, at least. Then I went through all three lies and asked that if yesterday's price was a mistake, why hadn't it been changed? Of course, he didnt reply. A chat window had opened on the Chuck Patterson website, so I clicked on it and told the rep (Kristi) what had happened over the past two days. She was apologetic and said she would ask the sales manager to see what they could do. She came back with "that was the best price." I asked why the price had not changed, and why I was lied to by their employees. She abruptly ended the chat- no goodbye, sorry, kiss my ass - nothing. Personally, if this were the only place on earth where I could buy a vehicle, I would invest in a bus pass and Uber. No honesty, no integrity, rude and disrespectful. Go elsewhere. read more

Service, what service???? I couldn't comment on the quality of the service performed at this place. Because as of today I have made appointments for service two times and both times they said it would take 4+ hours to do the work when I checked in for a booked appointment with a one hour service time quote. The incident Today is a perfect example. I had made an appointment to perform routine maintenance and when I called to book I asked the person how long it would take as I need to wait for it. They quoted me an hour to 1.5 hours. Today I check in with the service advisor, tell him about the quoted time and he says "we are backed up with cars and can't promise it will be ready as it may take 4 hours or more to complete the work" What!!! So I told him, no thanks too long to hang out at the dealership, good bye. Why bother making an appointment if this is how you are treated! Why don't they quote a more accurate wait time when you book??? Since this is the second time this has happened to me for routine maintenance I will never patronize this service department in the future.
