Was hungry after a day of skiing and wanted to try to local buffet chain. This location is in a plaza besides Hwy 89. Has its own building and a good amount of seating. You pay on entry. Dinner was something like $16-17 per adult, and this includes unlimited drinks like soda, lemonade and even chocolate milk. Buffet selection is not that big for the hot food. It was Asian theme night so they had some fried shrimp, fried rice, orange chicken etc. which tasted about the same as you'd expect (meh). They have another two small stations with hot food. One had the carvery and the roast beef there was alright. The stewed beef with potatoes was probably the best thing of the bunch. The last hot food station had the fried chicken, which was mediocre. There are two islands for salads: one was make your own, the other is pre-made salads. Decent selection for the pre-made salads. The best selection at the buffet is probably the desserts. They had a good variety of cakes, pies, cobblers and brownies, and also have a soft-serve ice cream machine. Overall, the food was about what I expected. My friend and I had low expectations coming into Chuck-A-Rama after reading reviews of the service (what service do you expect at a buffet), the food quality (is it supposed to be on par with a sit-down restaurant) and the ambiance (again, it's a buffet) at various locations north of SLC. When I walked in and forked over the $18.24 plus tax/ tip for dinner, I was pleasantly surprised at the selection and quality received, relative to the price. We saw an employee taking pictures and temperatures of various entrees across different buffet stations throughout our stay. We tasted the food, found that the selection of salad toppings is more than what we expected, the amount of entrees and food quality exceeded expectations and the beverage selection was quite bountiful, with at least 15 different beverages to choose from (Horchata to soda to juice and even ICEE). Chuck-A-Rama's competition charges for any beverage, so there's an inherent value to the price. Our server brought out utensils, napkins and cleared our plates quite efficiently, which was more than expected for a buffet establishment. I've been living in This end of Utah for 4 years and accidentally discovered this place when I stopped at Macys one day for some sour crème. I got my neighbor to try it out with me today. We were both impressed and will definitely be back. All the workers were super nice and worked hard at keeping everything clean. Place was immaculate. Today was Italian food. Everything I tried was delicious. Salad bar had several choices of lettuce. All fresh and cold. Plus there were plenty of toppings to add and a variety of dressings. I've had good experiences here before but tonight was disgraceful. Most of the entries were dried out under the lights. I waited 30 min for the corn to be refilled; it never was, even though I requested it of the hostess - tried the corn on the cob but it was far too dried out to eat. I usually enjoy the rolls - tonight there were only four; all were burned on the top. The mashed potatoes tasted as if they were made from powdered mix and zero butter anywhere; unless the sweet kind. I got desperate - do NOT use sweetened butter with mashed potatoes! Yuk. We apparently came near closing, which we didn't know, and they sat us anyway only for us to realize they were closing and workers just stood around staring at us and asking us if we were done. Our Dentist is in Ogden and we always see him on a Monday. It's kind of weird in Ogden many restaurants are closed on Mondays. We were starving and my husband loves this place. I gave in and we went. Their sign stated that it was International Day. That sounded good to me. What this meant is they had seafood and lots of it. I could eat unlimited Shrimp prepared about 5 different ways. This made me happy. The other reason I like this location is that it's like going to the Cheers Bar. It seems everybody knows your name. We were in Ogden for a high school graduation. Planning ahead I called this location and their automated system said dinner was served from 4 until 9. We pulled up at 7:45 only to be told that they would be closing at 8. To make sure it was made known I asked for a supervisor and let her listen to the misinformation on the phone. She told me that if I could get our party in by 8 they would keep cooking. GREAT! I was called back in a few minutes later and the same supervisor told me they were out of several items and they could drop more chicken but it would be 35+ minutes before it was done. I asked if she would give us a discount but she said no. So to clarify I said you want me to pay full price for a muted menu and the fact that your phone system is wrong? She said corporate would freak if she gave us a discount. Sadly accountability isn't something this company is comfortable with. This is probably one of the better buffets in the area. Yes, it is still a buffet so the food is not the most gourmet style of dining (they don't advertise as such either) but the quality of food here compared to some of the other buffets in the area is much higher. The price here is also slightly higher than other buffets in the area (only a few dollars more) but includes a drink and better food. Overall, I think it's worth the extra expense. The restaurant was clean and our dishes were tended to in a timely manner. The bathroom sinks took a while to get the hot water in but they did eventually get the hot water in. read more

This place was out of this world! I can not wait to go back there. My kids nor Ally don't eat a lot at places like this but they got two plates each and dessert! We came traveling through Ogden on our way north to Yellowstone looking for a fast, family friendly place to eat. Chuck-A-Rama fit the bill. Friday night at 545pm and we didn't wait long to be seated, maybe 10 minutes. There are 2 buffet tables of salads, 3 buffet tables with entree items and 2 dessert areas. Everything we had tasted very good and the service staff is very attentive. I appreciated the very fresh salad items and the variety of spinach and lettuces.
