My wife, sister and I went here for Thanksgiving dinner. The line to get in was just out the door, but it went pretty quickly, and we got a table. Our server, Angel, was true to her name- very attentive even though she had quite a few tables from what I saw. She was always checking our drinks and taking our plates AND she was very nice and was a joy to have her with us. The food was quite good, the turkey was great, and the ham was also good. This is the first time in almost 40 years that we haven't had dinner at home, and we were skeptical, and we were pleasantly surprised with our choice. This is a big holiday for us, and Golden Corral came through. Who knows we may make this our new tradition it was that good. I would give a 0 star if I could. We walked in and there were no clean tables so we started wiping one down when a server said, "Don't do that!" And then basically told us to get out of the way while we wait for her to do it. She took another couple minutes before she came over and did it so we just stood there really awkwardly for a while. My moms Diet Coke literally tasted like water. So did the Mac and cheese. The first three plates I grabbed for the buffet were dirty. The food that they have is disgusting. A lot of the buffet is empty. Even basic things like rice or pizza are boarder-line inedible. I don't think I finished a single thing I put on my plate. Best buffet nearest to me! Lots of delicious food. Servers are gracious and all employees are considerate. I always go as close to the beginning of lunch service. I had a pleasant experience at GC. I sampled the fried shrimp, hush puppies, fried fish, pizza, pot roast, fried okra, fried chicken and taco bar. A fresh batch of chicken tenders had just come out of the kitchen - they were delicious. I made the mistake of filling up on everything else and was too full for dessert. The chocolate fountain where you could dip strawberries looked good but I didn't try it on this trip. I also didn't make it to the salad bar. I have been to Golden Corrals in a few states and they all have made amendments to me using my birthday coupon by myself except this one on Washington in Ogden. This manager would not budge, from the get-go almost before I asked the answer was "No". What would it have hurt to work with me and offer a discount or something?? We don't come here often, as we don't go to buffets very much. Took my dad here for breakfast on a Sat morning. Place had quite a few people. There were lots of choices to eat. They could make eggs your way, omelet your way, and various buffet choices. Now you had choices of anything breakfast. bacon, sausage links, patties, ham, etc etc. Different hash brown choices, and various other items, such as corn beef and hash. They also had a cook making items to put on your plate straight from the grill. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Mass cooking buffet leaves out a lot of quality. Don't expect super great tasting food, some of it was bland, some is great. And it is hit or miss, one pan of hash browns may be lacking the salt and butter, and the next could be exactly how you make it at home. I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt to establishments. I really do. My kids wanted pizza. We wanted real food so we stopped at Golden Corral. There were two pieces of pizza on the bar. Both were burned and looked they they had been dropped. I chose the one less burned thinking I could get the kids by until more came out. (Who puts food out looking that way?)It took forever before more came out. My kids were already full on other items which I'm fine with that outcome for their nutritional intake, but it's ridiculous they weren't replenishing the buffet. They were out of the bourbon chicken, as well. I waited quite a while and we were about to leave when it finally came out. I loved the potato chips they made. Those we great. I would have taken a bag home with me if they had them for sale. Then, my three year old needed to go to the bathroom. I was first surprised when I walked in because it smelled really good. I looked in one handicap stall and there was human waste on the seat so we went into the other. That's when I noticed dried human waste on that seat, as well, after I had sat my daughter on it. (Fortunately, I didn't sit her in it.) I could see smear marks over it like someone wiped it to say they tried to do their job. Still there. Very obviously. I felt disgusted when I left and watch my daughter closely to make sure she didn't touch anything. I think it's safe to say this restaurant may need new management. read more

The last time I stepped into a Golden Corral was 1996, in Spokane, WA. Last week when the fam and I went to the Golden Corral on Washington after a pee-wee baseball game, I thought the experience would match the one from twenty years ago. It fell far, far short. First off, the piped in music was dreadful. Standing in line to pay for our food, my wife leaned over to me to whisper that it was the "most wrist slashing effing music" she'd ever heard. I concur. It was like badly done New Age nonsense, all flutes, synthesizers, and mermaid tears. While eating, my thirteen year old daughter, not having heard my wife's comment, loudly declared that the CD case for this music probably featured a sea turtle swimming through the Cosmos towards Saturn. Truly, it was that awful. The food was some hits and mostly misses. The salad bar was a salad bar. Reliable. The ribs were well done. Fall off the bone tender and juicy. The taco bar remained picked over and empty the entire time we were there. The fish station, was it called Lighthouse Bay?, didn't offer up any tasty spoils except, perhaps, the fried popcorn shrimp. But really, anyone can do those as well as GC from the frozen section at the local grocery store. The mashed potatoes and meat loaf had been sitting seemingly for hours, congealing in their own ennui. While we were eating, a sudden flood of obese humanity burst forth from one of the side rooms. Evidently, they were all listening to some kind of sales pitch scam, and were probably only there for the "free" meal at Golden Corral. I can't think of anything more sad. To have to listen to some schmarmy guy speaking over suicidal New Age muzak while trying to convince you to give him your credit card information to buy into some crappy pyramid scheme and the only thing you get out of it is middling buffet food. read more

I'm not an advocate of buffets, especially when stuffed beyond reason as I am leaving after each visit and swearing not to return, yet I return to this place almost every week. I give 4 stars for above average tasting dishes, 5 for cleanliness, 5 for attentive servers, and most of all, the manager/owner is the most involved person I have seen at any Golden Corral establishment. He is out on the floor checking dishes, chatting with customers, with employees, helping at the register, making and taking calls that I can guess only makes our experience the better. I really like this guy, and how it translates to happy servers and customers. During my 30 minute visit, he is available to catch on the floor at least 15 to 20 minutes, very attentive. I once ate buffet in Mesquite Nevada, and learned how bland food can taste when produced for the masses. I want to share how each dish, while not always perfection, tasted special and had great flavor. Did I mention the place is immaculate & clean, the glass as well as the counters, and every dish is displayed like a lot of care went into its making. If you like buffet, I highly recommend visiting this Golden Corral in Ogden. I think you may agree that all employees go above and beyond, it keeps me coming back, and preferring this location for the level of dedication of the manager. read more

Sometimes, one has to ask for them to do something, and they get put off by that, poor attitudes, take things personal when they should be considerate of poor service and being helpful. Owner cut back on steaks, quality of steaks, and Serving Shrimp, and quality of Shrimp. Thought he was going bankrupt . Some of their choices for management is off, but owner appears to be out of touch from intoxicated mood swings. Ever since Sizzler left on 12th Street, noticed the steaks and shrimp take a hit here. Our family went in it was 11:50 AM on a Friday. There were two other patrons. I was suprsed I used to eat there a lot for lunch and it was always difficult to get food from the croups. It did not take long to figure out the issue. The food was terrible. The salad was wilted and she was cutting it while I was standing there and the new was bad. foods were not fresh tasting and poor quality. This buffet is great especially if you're on a budget. Its a buffet so they're isn't much customer service. I like the variety at this location. The food is great when its hot, very delicious. There was a clown there the night I dined there which was new for me because I had never seen that before. He made funny balloons and passed it to the kids. It was nice. The food they serve is the everyday food, nothing unique. But it tastes great. What I thought was unique was that they have a chocolate fountain. Yes, you read that right. You can choose what you want chocolate covered such as rice crispy treats, marshmallows, or strawberries. A little different from what im used to. read more
