10/10 overall - from quality of the meats/sides, service, and ambiance. Our server Patrick was very attentive! We celebrated my dad's birthday there yesterday evening. It was my first time! It was not my sister or parents' first rodeo at Chubby Cattle. Can't wait to come back more often! What an epic experience. Of note, restroom was very clean.
Food overall was not bad, but it feels like something was missing. My favorite was the nigiri and hand roll. I did not really enjoy the meat selection since it was on the tougher side (we ordered gold). The layout of the restaurant did not help with the dining experience. Staff were very friendly and service was great though! TLDR summary: It's not worth long drive or over 1hr wait. Design of the interior is cute; however, the restaurant space is a bit cramped. There's no space to wait inside, so you'll have to stand outside/walk around the plaza to kill time. Although the booth design looks nice and offers plenty of privacy, I did not like how small it made me feel while dining. Maybe the space will feel more "open" if they remove the booth pillars (idk, I'm not an interior designer)? The height of the table/seat is not very short-people friendly. It would help if they add an optional seat cushion, so it gives an extra inch to help with those with short upper body torso. The lighting was also very distracting because it was flickering the whole time. The sides/self serve station is in the back, and it also feels a bit cramped there due to the layout. As for the food, I only liked the mapo tofu out of all the stuff I grabbed from the back. The curry meat was wayyyy too big, chunky, and tough. The veggie selection was not very appealing. I guess I had higher expectation because one of the workers at wagyu master hyped up this chubby cattle location. (& also I really liked that the Vegas location had the drinks up front for those who are waiting).
Finally got to try chubby cattle for the first time on Friday! I think we got really lucky joining the waitlist around 4pm because I didn't have to wait at all Got to hit the drum before getting seated which I thought was cool. Loved the japanese yakiniku ambiance when you first walk in! We got seated in a high chair bar area for a party of two. It wasn't a booth table but I thought it was very spacious sitting next to my partner. We got the gold tier. The special orders/dishes were really good. I liked my uni caviar wagyu one and my bf liked the foie gras wagyu. We really loved the beef tongue and the thick cut short ribs! Honestly they were all pretty good quality meat, however I can't name them all because I was too busy eating! I loved dipping them in the house made sauce on the table. I also loved some of the nigiri options that were ordered. They have a-lot of self serve complimentary options: rice, soft serve ice cream, mapo tofu/curry soups, miso soup, slushee machine, fountain drinks, milk teas! They even had fruit; kimchi, radish, edamame, seaweed salad, lettuce, and more. It was a bit hot inside when we were dining in, but I just had more iced drink refills to help with that. There were also a couple of menu items that were out of stock, so unfortunately we weren't able to try everything I wanted to on the menu. Overall I had a great experience for my first time dining here! Would definitely come back the next time I'm craving Japanese bbq!
I came for my birthday, sponsored by my wife! I was very excited so we came during a weekday to dodge the wait. Unfortunately the wait still sucked (40mins). But that's ok, builds anticipation. The inside of the store has at least 15 tables. However, I was not a fan of the layout. Too dark, too cramped per table. That being said, not like the tables were small or anything. They have a bunch of free snacks ("free") in the front. The mapo tofu and curry were offered. Curry was kinda mid but mapo tofu was fire. Rice and slushy also dispensed! We got "gold" tier. Though you can get A5 cuts for ayce, the A5 cuts offered are knuckle and brisket. The 2 cuts which are considered quite "lean". Even though marbling is quite beautiful on these cuts, due to the cut they weren't exactly melt in your mouth- they were tender for sure, but not as soft as Prime Ribeye, or A5 ribeye. I felt for the most part, the cuts were decent, but for $72 it's hard to justify the price. If it was A5 shinshin or ribeye or flank I could say it's worth it. the service was phenomenal though! really loved that. Our server was so nice, offered to cook for us, move our table, etc. and was super friendly.
We came in with some friends and were served by Mason, who was really friendly and helped cook some of our nicer dishes! We had a wonderful time and he made sure to check in on us throughout. We particularly loved the Wagyu short rib from the gold menu and we also had points we redeemed for the A5 striploin which was also fun to eat with the ikura nigiri. We got to sit in the house party area since we came in on a weekday and it was awesome to get such nice seats for our party!
Had a really great experience here recently. My group of 6 came in for lunch and everything from the food to the service was great. Heads up, there is a long wait and they don't do resy. Prepare to wait up to an hour for lunch. But worth! The meat and other menu items were high quality and fresh and there was a good variety to choose from, so we had plenty of options for the table. Everything came out quickly and was nicely presented. One thing you must order from the menu: lobster rolls. I also really liked the overall atmosphere. It has a lively, izakaya feel, noisy but somehow still enjoyable. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. Our server was helpful with recommendations and checked in on us without being overly attentive or making us feel rushed. He did forget a few items but made up for it by bringing us extra items towards the end of our meal. Overall, a really solid bbq spot. Great food, good service and a nice atmosphere. If you don't mind the smokiness, great place for lunch or dinner.
It was a 2-hour wait when we got here. It was worth the wait though because all the meat was very fresh and tender. I especially liked the beef tongue. Even better is that they offer jasmine milk tea for free. The other offerings like their sushi and appetizers were also good. I tried the calamari and salmon nigiri, which don't order too much or you'll get full. It was a nice experience but I wouldn't come back on a regular basis cuz I'm broke.
We celebrated my sister's birthday at Chubby Cattle, and our first visit exceeded our expectations! We had heard so many great things about this place, and it was the perfect spot to celebrate. The food was amazing, but what made the experience even more memorable was our waiter, Travis. He was funny, kind, and attentive, constantly checking in to make sure we were having a great time. That level of care isn't something you experience every day when dining out, and we truly appreciated it. Thank you, Travis and the Chubby Cattle team, for making my sister's birthday so special. We'll definitely be back!
Chubby Cattle, you have been our #1 favorite restaurant since our first visit at the start of this year. I will continue to write you all the best reviews. It truly changed our standards for any BBQ restaurants, because we don't go to any other spots anymore. Lol. We are fortunate that Chubby is a short drive away from home. Exceptionally friendly, fast service! Tiffany helped us out, and she gave us such an incredible experience! She always checked on us & helped with our cooking. Your food orders will fly out of the kitchen pretty fast. The meats are fresh, never come out frozen, and all the other foods (sushi, sashimi, hot foods) are always delicious. The foods in the back are always fresh & replenished. I absolutely loved the milk tea and the new refreshing citrusy iced tea (I forgot the flavor!). Tips for any newcomers: If you're overwhelmed with what to order from their extensive menu, ask your server for any suggestions of what to try! The servers are also so friendly that they can help you cook (if it's not crazy busy), or at least get you started on how the grilling works. If you can, try visiting during the middle of the week (Mon-Thur) so you won't have the craziest wait time. My longest wait ever was 3 hours on a Saturday, but it was worth it in my opinion. On the weekends, you'll have to expect the long wait since people are out & about, and the shopping outlet is across the way. Anyway, Chubby Cattle has become our monthly date spot, our celebrate-a-special-occasion spot, and the place we take ALL family & friends who are visiting from out-of-town. Fam/friends who visit ALWAYS ask to go back to Chubby, and we take them back because it's another reason to exceed our once a month dinner date visit. haha. We already have an ongoing list of friends who are wanting to try it for the first time, because of how much we hype this place up. Chubby Cattle, please never leave us. If anything, open up another spot on the Peninsula side for our other fam & friends. I know you'd do just fine.
Be prepared to wait! Came here on a Sunday at 12:00 and didn't get seated until 1:42pm and we were a party of 2. This was our second time here and knew that there would be a long wait. If you are coming in a larger group I would expect the wait to be longer. The restaurant is located within a shopping plaza, so while we waited we just walked through 99 ranch market and bought some snacks. If you're familiar with ace bbq places, the overall dining is the same. You can order your main meats through a tablet and I do enjoy the convenience of being able to get up and get our own side dishes/drinks. The meats come really quick and you're able to order 10 meats at a time every 5 mins. Our server Raymond was awesome! He always came by to check on us and made sure we had everything we needed. Other servers also come by when walking past and grab your empty plates which is great. Overall, our dining experience was great! The only thing I would say is that it does get pretty stuffy inside due to the lack of ventilation.
Patrick B did a good job addressing the previous issue I wrote about when we were seated at the restaurant on 9/26. Though Patrick and the floor manager couldn't resolve the code issue at the restaurant, Patrick said to mention his name the next time we came in and he would help us address it. I eventually received a resolution today 9/28 through an email with support. I hope anyone and everyone else who received the advertisement and was denied the sale was given the same treatment and resolution that I was given.
I think my pictures say enough about the quality. It's really hard to justify paying $65 ($78 without the member price) for yakiniku like this. At this point, I honestly regret getting the membership because I haven't enjoyed either Wagyu Master or Chubby Cattle. I was also disappointed to find out that all Mikiya locations in California are excluded from the membership, despite being listed on the official website. That feels very misleading. The waitlist was another issue. I checked in around 1:45 PM on a Saturday, only to find out they had already cut the line and the dinner waitlist wouldn't reopen until 4 PM. Their hours say they're open all day, so they should clearly indicate that the waitlist closes from 2-4 PM. We came back at 3:20 PM and there was already a line. Even after the 4 PM reopening, they only seated about five tables at first, so we didn't get seated until 4:45 PM. We were seated at the bar by the entrance, where it was very hot, and the music was so loud it felt like a rave. Our server was attentive, but the overall experience was not enjoyable. The only things I liked were the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Short Rib, beef tongue, Argentina shrimp, and A5 Wagyu Uni Caviar Nigiri. The A5 brisket and M8-9 Wagyu Otoro were particularly disappointing. The A5 knuckle was better but cut way too thick. I also questioned the quality of the "A5" meat because it was surprisingly tough and looked nothing like the photos. I even had to ask what some of the cuts were because they looked completely different. I've been to the Monterey Park location, which was slightly better, but the meat quality was still disappointing aside from the special cuts. I won't be returning to this location.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally went and it did not disappoint!! The meat was pretty good quality and they actually had a lot of options in the gold plan! The inside is pretty vibey and cute and they have condiments and drinks. Also, Viet was our server and he was really good at cooking the meat and it was really entertaining. Super chill guy, thanks for making our first Chubby Cattle experience awesome! The only thing is that the lines are always super long, but we went at 10:30 to sign up on the waitlist, so I'd suggest going early to join the waitlist and going home to wait until you're texted.

Came here on a Sunday evening and got on the wait-list at around 430pm and they said the wait would be long, and it was. We waited for like four hours for our group of 10 people for a birthday. We mostly shopped at 99 ranch and hung out in the parking lot until it was our turn to be seated. Once we were seated it was great, all the side dishes and drinks, rice, and soup are available buffet style. You order the meats and other dishes on a iPad and they're very quick in getting your orders in so you can start cooking right away. The 10 of us were seated at a large table with two grills. I believe we chose the cheapest option and it still had wagyu options and everything was so good! Idk if I would wait four hours again, but I would definitely come back on a weekday or if the hype dies down a bit. Lol. read more

Meh. I am not sure why my experience was so lacking compared to others. But this place really wasn't all that great. First complaint is that it is WAY TOOOOOO SMOKY!!!! so smoky, might be a health hazard to be inside. Second is that they were out of some special items. Like items with uni. When we went. Lastly, the meats were fatty but not in a good way kinda fatty and honestly not very flavorful. All the meats were also TOUGH! The fruit bar was good tho and the service was also good. Maybe we just went on an off day, but we went on a Monday. We got there an hour before opening & was 2nd in line. At 11:00am, they bring out their tablet for people who are in line to sign up for the waitlist for when they open. After signing up, you're free to leave the line, but return at 11:30 when they open. We got in and the server showed us how the process works. You order from a tablet and food will be delivered after. Halfway through the meal, I noticed that half the items we ordered weren't coming out. After I inquired about it the first 2 times, they told me they were still cutting the meats, so it'll come out soon. I inquired again when it wasn't coming out just to be told they never had the meat & won't be getting it in until dinner. It was disappointing because if I knew they didn't have the meat cuts I was hoping to try, which was why I opted to pay for Chubby Cattle, I wouldn't have gone. It was a premium price paid for mediocre cuts of meats since the main cuts we wanted were out. We were also seated way in the corner, so we weren't attended to often, so plates just kept piling up & leaving us with not much table space since their tables are on the smaller side. If you're looking to come here for specific cuts, make sure they actually have them before being disappointed in it. read more

Chubby Cattle in Pleasanton made for an excellent choice for my birthday dinner--lively, indulgent, and exactly the kind of spot my family and I love. We came on a weeknight and were pleasantly surprised that the wait time was short, setting the tone for a smooth and enjoyable evening. The highlight here is, without question, the variety of Wagyu options. The selection is impressive, and every cut we tried was wonderfully marbled, flavorful, and downright delicious. It's a dream for meat lovers, and the quality more than lives up to the hype. The staff were accommodating and friendly throughout the meal, happy to explain options and make sure everything ran seamlessly. A fun bonus--especially for families--is the self-service side dish station, along with a milk tea drink station and slushies, which my kids absolutely loved. These thoughtful extras add to the overall experience and make the meal feel interactive and relaxed. There is a 90-minute dining time limit, but it never felt restrictive and didn't take away from our enjoyment. All in all, Chubby Cattle delivers great food, attentive service, and a fun atmosphere. If i could give this place a 10/5 rating i would!! Absolutely worth the wait. This all-you-can-eat wagyu KBBQ was an incredible experience from start to finish. The meat was unbelievably tender--each bite practically melted in my mouth--and the quality was consistently outstanding throughout the entire meal. Every cut was rich, and beyond flavorful, making it feel indulgent without being overwhelming. Even though the wait for two people on a Sunday night at 7:30 was about an hour and a half, it was handled so well. The hostess, Jenny, was amazing and refreshingly honest about the timing, which we genuinely appreciated. Knowing exactly what to expect made the wait feel much more manageable and showed how much they value transparency and their guests' time. Once we were seated, our server Viet truly made the night special. He was attentive, friendly, and always one step ahead without being overbearing--making sure we had everything we needed and that the pace of the meal felt just right (even though we had only 20 minutes to get our order in). His service elevated the entire experience and made us feel well taken care of from start to finish. Between the exceptional wagyu, outstanding service, and overall atmosphere, this was a dining experience I'd happily repeat. To be honest, the food was just average for the price. It wasn't particularly memorable or especially delicious. The smoke was overwhelming at times, which made the meal a bit uncomfortable, and the heat from the grill was so intense that it was difficult to control while cooking. The service staff seemed to work hard, but I also got the impression that they were somewhat pushing for us to leave a review for the server in charge, and I'm not really sure what the benefit of that is. Overall, considering how famous this place is, I expected much more. In the end, it felt overpriced for what it offered, and I left feeling underwhelmed. read more

I went to Chubby Cattle for a team dinner and we were very impressed with their food bar and the meats. We went with the gold menu, and the meats were truly high quality and delicious! Also the experience and selection of items in the food bar was impressive and not overwhelming. The rice machine is awesome! And both of their milk teas are pretty good! The entire experience was top notch to the point where I joined their Chubby Club Membership. As for ambiance, it was pretty loud and busy like any other AYCE restaurant. The service was great too, Nam H. did a great job talking us through the menu and he was very pleasant! I will be back, especially since I'm now a chubby club member. To start, the check-in process could have been more organized. Staff set out the iPad for the waitlist without saying anything before heading in, which led to confusion and some arguments due to people cutting the line. There was also no option for groups larger than six with just a message saying to "talk to the host," though there wasn't any host to talk to. When the party ahead of us finally found an employee to ask, they were told to put it in the note which should be noted somewhere for less confusion. A brief announcement or instructions would've helped maintain order. Fortunately, my group was only four people, so we didn't have any issues signing up for the waitlist. Still, I felt bad for the two parties ahead of us as we all waited together for about an hour and a half before opening. Once we were seated, though, the experience made up for it. Chubby Cattle was such a treat! We chose the Diamond Tier and really indulged. The meat quality was outstanding; the marinated options were delicious, but the plain cuts really let the natural flavor shine, especially with the great selection of dipping sauces. Our server, Rex, was phenomenal. He was super attentive and efficient even while managing several tables. He ensured we were taken care of even when our grill suddenly stopped working. Overall, despite the rocky start, our visit to Chubby Cattle was amazing. We even decided to sign up for a Chubby Plus membership after months of considering it. Didn't expect to come back so soon but we happened to be in the Pleasanton area overnight and decided to try visiting Chubby Cattle on a Monday albeit the holiday season. We arrived around 1025 am and parked right in front. Knowing they open at 11:30 am, we wanted to be in the first group to get seated. At 10:30 am, one person decided to wait at the door and I decided to join the line. Found out that Chubby Cattle staff puts out the wait list iPad at 11:00 am so got to be #2 to get seated once the doors open. Well worth it since by 11:30 am on a Monday, a large number of peeps were outside and I'm sure some missed the first wave. Anyways, our waitress this time was Van and she convinced me to be a Chubby Club member for $28 and told me all the savings I would have by being one. Saved $13 apiece for me and my wife on the gold tier bill by signing up. This time, we got a table (rather than a booth) and tried a few things different from the first one. My wife decided to choose the premium items and selected the A5 Wagyu Foie gras nigiri and the A5 Wagyu Uni Caviar Nigiri. It was pretty good I got to admit. Got to try it once if you are a chubby member! Food was delicious as always and got enough meat to satisfy me and not waste any! Can't wait to come back again! Finally had the chance to come in and try Chubby Cattle and everything was amazing! We had a great server who explained how things worked and even prepared one of our dishes for us. We opted for the Diamond option and also ended up getting a membership which allow us for membership pricing and a few perks. The prime wagyu was very delectable. Me and the hubby savored each dish. Definitely coming back and we recommend weekdays so you don't have to wait too long in line. Reservation is suggested. read more

Finally a BBQ where I don't leave smelling dank AF. I avoid BBQ at all cost because leaving smelling heavy makes me super disgusted and it's one of my fiancée's favorites when eating out so he's so glad we came across Chubby Cattle. It's a complete win for us both. There's 3 tiers to choose from, all AYCE (all you can eat-- within a time window) that includes meats, sides, fruits, ice cream, soft drinks, MILK TEA, yes, you heard right, milk tea!!!!!! Absolutely amazing quality meat and even better service from Anderson! He made sure our questions were answered and all our food came out quickly. He helped us cook the meats as well when he had time! They played EDM in the background and it made it a super fun environment! The self serve bar in the back has fruits, veggies, egg tarts, rice and meat, and burgers! They also have self serve ice cream, milk tea and icees. You have to come here and put your name on the waitlist, you can't do it on Yelp in advance unfortunately... but the Livermore outlets are across the street so you have things to do while you wait!! This place is amazing and with the hype! We got the diamond tier and it was delicioussss and worthy the hype! I got on the yelp waitlist on a friday at around 5:50pm and got seated at around 9pm. The food was delicious and really reminded me of Japan and honestly I think it is a very reasonable price for how high quality the meat is! They also have an amazing selection for drinks like a jasmine milt tea and soft serve as well as a bar with fruit and other sides you can get! Our server Anderson was amazing and super helpful! He helped us learn about the rewards program and he was ever attentive with our group! He gave us a bunch of recommendations and even helped us cook a lot of the meat! The place is too tight for 12+ birthday party. You need to walk there to put your name in for table.

Yes they offer halal Australian wagyu, the servers are knowledgeable on which meat is halal and which is not

How the waiting line to go?
Lunch waitlist starts at 11am, line up there and put your name on the Yelp Ipad. I recommend to go 1 hour prior to opening for lunch. This most likely ensures you will get to the first round of seating for lunch.

The biggest table i think they have is for 6 so depending on your group size you might need multiple tables

It is an AYCE restaurant. The lowest tier (Silver) is $58 and that is what you would pay to start eating there. It would be an expensive visit for you to go and not take advantage of their full menu.

Hello, I agree with Albert. I would try and sign up for the chubby group and make a reservation ahead of time because they tend to get busy and the waitlist will sometimes be closed. You can also call 24hrs prior so that can help as well.

Reservations are only for NFT members and Reward holders who have reached the adequate tier.
Is mikiya membership works there?
No it doesn't! I had Mikiya membership and had to upgrade to chubby + or whatever you call it lol had to add a small fee for an upgrade. Then once you get that membership you can use it for any of their restaurants.
