My husband and I decided to try this location for my birthday dinner. It was a Sunday night. We joined the waitlist at 530pm and got seated at 6pm. We decided to go with the gold menu and we were happy with that. My husband loves beef tongue so when we're eating somewhere with good beef tongue, that's all he'll really order. The other variety was perfect for me. I really enjoyed the Tom Yum soup. I always order some seafood on the side(squid, shrimp, scallops) and add to the soup so it's kind of like a mini hot pot for me. The self serve area is a little cramped. So you're bumping shoulders to get things when it's crowded, which it's usually always crowded. The service was amazing. Our server was Andy. He was attentive the entire time. He cooked meats when he saw our grill empty and let us know if he was going to disappear for a few minutes while tending other tables. He was always moving. Also very informative. Most of the meats are coated in a lemon aioli of some sort. I love citrus so it didn't bother me but my husband wasn't a fan of it. I ate a lot of the A4 brisket. The wagyu steak was tough and too chewy, I don't recommend that cut. Everything else was great. I one thing that keeps me from coming to the chubby chains more often is the very strict time limit. It's 90 minutes total, last call at 70 minutes. I don't get out with my husband alone very often. So when we can enjoy a meal without our kids, I like to actually enjoy it. No matter how great service was, I always feel rushed. I hate it. I get that there's a wait and they want to turn over tables quickly to make more money but for the price they charge, I'd want a 120 minute limit. I was already put off when 120 minute limits were put in place but more are leaning towards 90 minutes and that's just pushing it in my opinion. But besides the time restraint, the food and service was amazing. Definitely worth a try.
Service is impeccable. Our server cooked all of our meats for us and everything was so so SO tender. I feel like theres not much to say, the food kinda speaks for itself.
We've been to the Rowland one, but not this one. The ambiance of the whole thing inside is great! Service was fast and attentive as usual. We had Jason and he was informative on what meats to get. How to cook them and the membership program. It's a bit smaller than the Rowland location, but has the same great meat quality and service. Would come back!
Went with a group of about 20 on a Saturday afternoon around 3 PM. The service was very good and the staff did a great job accommodating such a large group (shout out to Kurt speaking viet), the food itself though was pretty underwhelming. The limited quantity premium meats that you're only allowed to order once for the table were chewey but good. After that plate though, most of the other meats felt pretty subpar. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very cool and definitely one of its stronger points. The artwork covering the walls adds a lot to the atmosphere, although once you actually look at it, reeks of AI generated art and becomes hard not to notice once you start thinking about it. My biggest issue with the layout was the self serve area where you get drinks, sides, sauces, desserts, etc. It is WAY too cramped, shuffling and bumping and grinding, all it was missing was some R Kelly at that point. We were there around 3 PM on a Saturday when the restaurant wasn't even particularly busy, and it was already difficult to move around. I can't imagine what that area is like during peak dinner hours. One thing I would definitely recommend is keeping a close eye on your time while you're there. The dining experience is timed, and it goes by surprisingly fast, especially with a large group. I would recommend continuously ordering or at least always having something in the order queue, even if it's just a small order. Between waiting for food and everyone getting up for drinks, sides, sauces, and other items from the cramped self serve area, you can use up more of your dining time than you realize. Just something to be mindful of so you can actually make the most of the experience. Overall, the service and atmosphere was solid, but the meat quality after the limited premium selections and the cramped self serve setup brought the experience down quite a bit for me. For a restaurant built around premium all you can eat Wagyu, I expected the meat itself to be the highlight. As of right now, not on the recommend list, best way to describe it would be "aight".
Had the best time for my son's birthday. He enjoys Wagyu so much so we had to try the new local Chubby Cattle! We arrived at 7:40pm was told the wait was about an hour but closer to 9pm seating time and last call at 9:30, closes at 10pm. We got seated at 8:40. Hostess was helpful in helping us choose between the menus. There was arcade games in the front to play while you wait. Neat! We opted for the gold $65 with the member discount x2, $78 without. My younger son was half off. The Japanese Wagyu cuts were great, scallops, sushi, carpaccio, the Argentina shrimp were delicious. Our server Kenny was amazing. He was helpful, cooked for us and showed us his favorite sauce which was delicious! Loved the self serve all you can eat station with veggies, dessert, fruit, drinks, ice cream, cheese corn, Wagyu burgers etc. We loved the birthday song. What a blast! Such a fun experience!
This review is strictly for their togo bento box. We found a solid deal on Postmates for takeout. It was for their wagyu curry + beef gyudon bento which also came with rice and a side of seaweed salad and kimchi. They gave us generous portions as our takeout bentos were extra heavy. However, once we opened our bentos, we found that there was ONLY beef curry..the gyudon was not included. We paid a few dollars extra for the variety so that was disappointing. If they had ran out of gyudon then at least let us know. As for the taste, the curry was decent. The flavors were there and it paired well with the rice. The wagyu beef in the curry was too chewy, I had a hard time biting through the pieces. The sides were okay. Nothing special. Overall bento experience was a bit disappointing. Would have loved to try the gyudon as well, but since the curry was so average we will most likely skip the bento/rice box takeouts from here.
Tried the middle tier option. Great and fast service!! They grill the meat for you. The meats are high quality. The wait was shorter than expected but we did go around 4:30pm. Great ambiance. The ventilation is great. You don't smell like good kbbq after the dinner. Here are only a few pics of what we ate.
The place is very exciting and busy altogether, but the eating experience is the same. It is not a relaxed environment as I felt like the whole experience is a bit rushed. I understand the use of a time limit, but with a large party of 9, and a 90 minute limit that starts as soon as you are seated at your table, not even after you start ordering, the rush takes away from the high end and lavish dining experience. We paid for a more premium menu, so I would hope that for $80/person, we wouldn't be rushed out of the restaurant as soon as the tablet hits 90 minutes. The food is amazing. So many different types of meats, sushis, appetizers, and desserts that you can choose from and help yourself to. I love the froyo machine, but there was only vanilla at the time since chocolate was empty and did not know when it would be refilled. The self serve area is extremely tight and gets crowded at times. Extremely inconvenient spacing as people are coming from all directions to grab rice, drinks, sides, sauces, and desserts.

This was my first time at chubby cattle and second time visiting a restaurant in the chubby group The food was great. I really enjoyed the sauces, sides, vegetables, drinks, and especially the meats. The meats were high quality and my favorite was the rib. I ordered from the gold menu. My only gripe was the meats had too much sauce but it was quickly solved by my server. The ambiance was decent. It was a little too warm for me. Service: my server was Tae. He was amazing. Attentive and very pleasant. He was not too pushy regarding upselling or selling anything. Chubby Cattle in Irvine is a fun, lively Korean BBQ spot that my wife and I took our two boys (ages 3 and 8 months) to this week. The ambiance is really energetic -- walking in feels like stepping into the streets of a busy Korean market. It's colorful, bustling, and full of life. It's a very cool vibe, though probably not the best choice for a quiet date night. Service was solid and attentive throughout. I especially liked the ordering screens at the table and how they moved beverages, rice, and other common items to a convenient self-serve section. That helped things move smoothly. We didn't have any special drinks this time, but the soft drinks were good. The food was excellent overall. The meats were the highlight -- we did the Diamond menu and really enjoyed the A5 and thin-cut wagyu. They cooked up beautifully. We also tried the sushi, which was good but not quite at the level of a dedicated sushi restaurant. The selection was excellent across the board. At about $100 per person it's not cheap, but we appreciated that young kids eat free based on height, so our three-year-old didn't cost anything extra. That said, it isn't the most kid-friendly setup. You have to leave your stroller outside, the quarters are pretty tight, and toddlers don't always do great with cook-at-the-table concepts. Still, the quality of the meats made for a good family meal overall. I'd recommend Chubby Cattle if you're looking for solid KBBQ in Irvine, especially if you don't have young kids with you. The one and only Johnny was a great server he made sure our meat was grilled to perfection! The meat was great quality not too fatty. The vines are so fun!!! And everything was fresh and clean definitely the place to go for meat and have a good time. Come hungry!
I've tried a few Chubby Cattle locations so far and this one is definitely at the top of the list in terms of quality of food and service. We started off with server, Kenny, who did an awesome job giving us a refresher on the menu. He was very helpful and knowledgable about the memberships and promos. He was relieved by Alex, who was also fantastic! He explained some of the dishes, what made the location special and pretty much cooked all of our food, which we thought was super efficient. They were both great conversationalists which added to the experience. Their A5 Wagyu was melt in your mouth deliciousness. I wished we had more. The scallops with the citrus marinade was insanely tasty and a must try! Only downside- their buffet area was a bit cramped, so getting items from that area was challenging. definitely rubbed some elbows with people in line for sauces and vegetables lol Will definitely be back! if you're thinking about visiting this location, I'd recommend going around 4pm-5pm. There wasn't much of a wait.

I've been to the Rowland location before and I was so excited when they announced a much closer location!! However my experience this time was just ok. Food was great but kinda missed the lamb chops that they have at the Rowland location. They gave the dry-aged stuff here but that wasn't really for me. The space inside feels really cramped and you're literally back to back with someone constantly at the side dishes /sauce bar/ drink bar. I get that they like to push for you to sign up for a membership but our friend that ALREADY had a membership was asked like 5x if he had a membership. It was getting a little annoying. Our server, I think his name was Aspen, was pushing my friend to tip a "mandatory" 18% because we were a party of 5 but the menu says it applies to parties of 6+. (See screenshot in my photos). He also said he was going to put it in our final order into the kitchen but we never got our last order of meats. We asked about it later on and they told us that the kitchen never got our last order so we simply didn't get to get our last order in. On top of that, one of us decided to sign up for the membership that day with the deal going on that weekend and with sign up, we were supposed to get an A4 filet mignon. Our party of 6 came out to celebrate Father's Day at Chubby Cattle. It was our first time dining and with the exception of the long wait, the rest of the experience was AWESOME! Our server was ALEX and he was attentive, helpful and gave excellent tips and suggestions. The special meats were top notch but even the normal orders of meat were good. My favorite was the lamb. Chubby Cattle has taken over the former Tokyo Table spot at Diamond Jamboree, and if you know that plaza, you already know parking is an absolute nightmare so definitely plan ahead if you have a reservation. Walking in is a bit of a sensory overload. The space is packed with lights, visuals, and graphics that honestly make it feel like you've stepped into something like Kabukicho in Tokyo. Very high-energy, very immersive. Our server (I believe his name was Hunter) was super friendly, accommodating, and especially patient with our group since it was most people's first time there. Service overall felt attentive even with how busy and chaotic it can get. They've got a buffet-style setup for veggies, drinks, sides, and sauces, plus the viral rice machine that literally dispenses rice into your bowl which was a fun touch. Also really appreciated seeing items like tako wasabi on the menu -something you don't often find often at AYCE. The meats are definitely high quality with a huge variety including lamb, seafood, pork, and more. You essentially choose between different tiers, each unlocking more premium cuts. We went with the Diamond tier, which included two special apps per person (options like toro and uni), along with several A4 and A5 wagyu selections. The nigiri and fish quality were also surprisingly top-tier for an AYCE concept. That said, while the experience is impressive, I'm not entirely sure the price fully justifies itself. The meat quality is excellent, but I've had similar satisfaction at a la carte Japanese BBQ spots for less overall spend. It's a fun experience, but it didn't completely blow me away the way I expected given the hype. Timing is also a bit strict-they advertise a 90-minute seating, but last call comes around the 70-minute mark, which feels a bit tight, especially for larger groups. Food also took a while to come out at times, particularly with an 8-person group ordering off two tablets. One other odd detail: you can bring a birthday cake in for celebrations, but you're not allowed to eat it there, which felt a bit strange. All that said, I'd still recommend it if you're looking for a more upscale AYCE Japanese BBQ experience and don't mind paying a premium for the vibe and variety-just go in knowing you're paying as much for the experience as you are for the food. read more

I came for a Sunday lunch and there was a line leading up to the entrance. I can understand why... this place has great value. It's AYCE Japanese BBQ with lots of options in food and drinks, a self serve bar, high quality ingredients, and great service. The meat quality was top tier. This Chubby Cattle was amazing. They sold me the rice machine. The food was amazing; the items at the salad bar were good. Everything here is premium dry-aged meat. Make sure when you come here that you have an empty stomach. I have to say this is the best Chubby Cattle that I've been to. The only other one I went to was the one in Little Tokyo. There is a self serve area where you can get side dishes, fruit, rice & several curry options, dessert, and your drinks. Tried the Diamond option and overall had a pretty good experience. The interior was really cool and had a nice vibe, which made the meal more enjoyable. There was also a solid variety of meats, sushi, and appetizers, so it was easy to try a bit of everything. I liked that everyone got to pick two specialty dishes and special meats, which made it feel a little more premium. The first round of food came out pretty quickly, and the quality across the board was good. Service was a bit mixed though. After the first round, things started to slow down, and we had to ask them to check on our sushi order. The staff was helpful when it came to cooking the specialty meats, which I appreciated. They also had soups available, and those were surprisingly good. Dessert was a miss for me. The matcha mochi is something I would skip next time. One downside was the self serve area. It got pretty chaotic because there were a lot of people and not quite enough space, so it felt cramped and disorganized. Also worth noting, you get 70 minutes to order and 90 minutes total to eat, which sounds like a lot but goes by pretty fast, especially if service slows down. Our estimated wait time was 2 hours, but it ended being about an hour. First time here and I loved the decor and the vibe. It's a little hectic and cramped when everyone is getting appetizers/drinks/sauces. But the variety is great. Our server Seb was helpful and let us know how everything works (limit of 10 items per order, etc), he also gave cooking tips. We got the cheapest menu and while it does feel limited, all the other dishes make up for it. Not every dish is a 5/5, some hit the mark, but you just keep ordered what you do like (which for us what the A3 beef and salmon sashimi LOL). We were so surprised at how good the sushi/hand rolls were. Nothing was ever forgotten and we grabbed ice cream on our way out. It is a bit expensive ($78); however, the cost makes up for it being AYCE high-quality meat. Though the iPad ordering system limits you by only allowing orders to be placed every 5 minutes. The ambiance is loud, lively & crowded - birthday celebrations here are definitely an experience. They have a self-service station for sauces, appetizers, sides, vegetables, desserts, rice, etc. Although the service station area is a bit cramped, there wasn't a long wait to grab all the items you'd like to have on the side. They grill the meats for you and make small talk to make it a good dining experience. The self service area was kinda tight but the automated rice and miso soup dispenser and set up was cool. Lovely evening out with my husband for his birthday today. Our first time at Chubby Cattle in Irvine. Ryan was our server and he's super nice and attentive. He explained thoroughly how to order through the menu in the computer and also where to get our side portions. He put in the first set of beefs including the beef tongue slices. Everything were super tender and juicy. It's hard to find parking in this busy plaza on a Saturday evening but we did find our parking space at the far end of the plaza and walked a few minutes to the restaurant. Fun and unique KBBQ experience! Been wanting to try out Chubby Cattle for a while now and finally got to last night with some friends. The place looks so cool inside! There's some arcade games outside to play while waiting and also free water/hot green tea. The host was very nice and helpful explaining how the menu works and their dry aging process. Seriously there's so many things to look at inside the restaurant! Once we got seated our server Emily walked us through the menu and gave tips/tricks for how to order food on the touchscreen. She was awesome, always there to help with the cooking if we needed and even got us some soft serve ice cream for dessert. Thanks Emily!! They're known for their specialty Wagyu cuts of beef, so we definitely tried quite a few. We got the Wagyu brisket, top blade, steak, tongue, and a few other cuts. Their self serve bar with fruits, veggies, soups, and sauces was awesome! Try their Wagyu brisket curry, so good. You can add some mix-ins to your sauces like garlic, green onion, cilantro, etc. We were nice and full by the time we finished. You get 70 minutes to order food and 90 to finish eating. They need the time limit as the place is pretty busy during dinner hours especially. There's some self serve soft serve ice cream and a fridge of cakes for dessert, or fresh fruit if you'd like something a bit more healthy. I'll be back to experience more of their menus, and I definitely want to try their other concepts. I would suggest their membership if you plan to try their different locations as you save a good amount per meal at all of them. **I completely forgot to take pics of the meat before and during cooking. Came here for the first time for my husbands birthday. Everything was so delicious and fresh!! Our server, Thong, was amazing and super helpful being it was our first time dining at Chubby Cattle. He gave us all the tips and tricks and made our dining experience so much more elevated. We loved the restaurant theme and it is really cute inside! It wasn't that crowded but we did have to wait a little over an hour on a Monday night. Again, the food and Thong were the stars of the night and we are counting down the minutes until we can dine at Chubby Cattle again! read more

I had a wonderful time at Chubby Cattle in Irvine. I have been to the rowland location before and am glad they opened one closer to me. I visited on a tues evening and ended up waiting a little over an hour The interior is beautifully decorated, and the ordering process is super easy on the screen. The service was a highlight of our night. Our server Peter P was fantastic. Super friendly and knowledgeable and spent time chatting with us and expertly cooked our meat! The meat comes out pretty fast. The quality is delicious and very fresh. The sushi service is a bit slower. The handrolls are good, though the seaweed isnt super crispy by the time it gets to you There's a milk tea selection. The Samurai milk tea is the winner. I would skip the Jasmine, as it tastes a bit artificial and kind of like melon If u plan to go again, i would recommend getting the $58 membership tier. It's a great value because it effectively pays for itself once you factor in the birthday meal and the extra free meal included! And u get a discount for you and your guest each visit. First time at Chubby Cattle and wow! The place is beautiful, very high-tech, and modern. That said, it can feel a bit overwhelming and cramped with everything going on. My only wish is that the walkways were a little wider. There were a few moments where I felt like I was about to smother someone just trying to squeeze by--especially when everyone was lining up for rice while others were trying to get to the self-service bar. Since it was my first visit, I definitely fell into the classic AYCE beginner's trap: filling up at the self-serve bar before the main event. Everything just looked too good to pass up--the wagyu burgers, sweet potatoes, cheese corn, and the rice bowl station with all the different toppings...the list goes on. Thankfully, the day we went, the rice station was down, so they were making rice in the back. That probably saved me from getting full too early! We had family visiting from out of town, so we decided to splurge on the Diamond tier ($88 per person), which comes with an additional selection of five specialty dishes, and you can order two per person. The meal has a 90-minute time limit, so we tried to order as much as we could early on...especially after our first round, which took quite a while to arrive. A good gauge is that it took so long that we honestly forgot what we had ordered. Our server, Armin, was incredibly kind and accommodating and even offered to cook the meat for us. Unfortunately, he was juggling quite a few tables, and we didn't want to take up more time, so we ended up cooking everything ourselves. Did we burn some meat? Maybe. But honestly, that was the cost for protecting my hand from being burned by the large flames when all the fat started dripping! Out of everything we tried, our family favorites were the sukiyaki, the lean cuts, the beef tongue, and the short ribs. The meat quality is definitely excellent and worth experiencing. That said, after a while, the flavors start to taste the same. Overall, it was a great experience with an impressive variety of options. I'm glad we tried it, but next time I'd probably skip the Diamond tier and go the savvy route with the Silver tier if I'm craving wagyu again. read more

you order through tablet and specialty meats depend on your tier. Speciality meats are cooked by servers but the ones that are AYCE is self cook.
Is there a different pricing for kids?
It goes by height, 100cm and under is free, 101cm-130cm is 50%, 131cm+ is full price.

Irvine location and Cerritos location don't take reservations. No yelp waitlist either. First comes first serves.
Important deciding factor for me, does this location put hot mustard on their sushi? I know Cerritos does 🤢 instead of typical spicy mayo that all there other locations do.

Hi Team, what is the maximum number of guests you can accommodate at your largest table?
In regular dining you can probably fit 8, the VIP room can fit up to 12 (tight squeeze). There are tables that fit 8, and can accommodate up to 14 (with the end having a gap but next to a booth seating 6).
Does this location have plans to open for weekday lunch soon? As someone who works in the area and goes out to lunch every day, I can say that this place will have a healthy customer base that will keep it busy during the lunch hours.
Most CC locations open for lunch shortly after completing their soft opening.
Do they take reservations?
Walk in only. If you have a Chubby Club NFT or app status of Silver+ you can make priority waitlist requests (24+hours) on Discord once they become available (usually a few weeks after soft opening).
