Given how great our experience was the last time we were here, we figured we'd come back for a second time. Unfortunately, this time we didn't even make it inside. We were told upfront that the wait would be over 3 hours, but why accept guests and have them wait that long? After the second hour, we had already walked around multiple stores nearby just trying to kill time. Eventually, we gave up and left. I understand places get busy, but if there's realistically no room or the wait is going to be 3+ hours, just don't accept more people. It's frustrating to be told the wait time and then have the restaurant act as though it's reasonable to keep guests waiting that long. Really disappointing, especially after having such a good experience the first time.
Had my daughter's late birthday celebration here since she finally managed to get some time off work. She's a workaholic. This was our second time at Chubby Cattle, and yep... this place stays BUSY. The front end came across a little snobbish at first, but honestly I can understand how working in such a busy place all day can get to you. Our server, though, was very helpful and took the time to explain how everything worked and how to order. Very thorough. The ordering touchscreen could definitely use some attention. It was a little confusing and not very responsive. Maybe it needs an upgrade... or at least a good cleaning. Your food selections depend on which tier you choose, but all the beef we tried was Wagyu and very tasty. My wife especially loved that melt-in-your-mouth beef when you cook it just right. The kids really enjoyed the brisket too--very lean and good. The side dishes were more average for us. The corn with cheese and chicken karaage were okay, but nothing that really stood out. One thing to keep in mind is that the cooking grill is not very large, so if you have several people at the table, cooking everything can take some time. And remember, you have a two-hour dining limit, so you have to keep that grill working. The self-serve area for the sides has plenty of choices, but it gets pretty cramped when several people are trying to grab food at the same time. Overall, the experience was okay and the Wagyu is definitely the main attraction. I could see us coming back for a dinner date or maybe another family birthday celebration. And yeah... if you have their membership, it can help with the price, especially for two people. For a larger group, I'm not sure the savings are as impressive. Good beef, busy atmosphere, a few things that could be improved, but overall we still had a nice birthday dinner together. Yelp me, Yelp you.
Had a great experience at Chubby Cattle! The food was fresh, flavorful, and there was a really good variety of meats, vegetables, and other options to choose from. Everything came out fresh and the quality was definitely there. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was fun and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the hot pot experience and how easy it was to try different ingredients and combinations. Definitely a great spot to come with friends or family. I'll definitely be coming back!
I came here to dine and catch up with a few friends. The wait times can be quite lengthy as it is a popular restaurant, but I've been hearing people rave about Chubby Cattle so we decided to give it a try. We arrived at 6p on a Friday and ended up waiting for about an hour. The esthetic and atmosphere of the restaurant is fun and lively. However, I was extremely disappointed with the way management runs this restaurant. There is a 90 minute time limit to dine and management starts the clock immediately either when you walk in or sit down at your table. There is a complete lack of consideration for first timers as we had time spent with our server going over a variation of things (ie. walking us through the menu, how to order, advising of the leftover policy, informing us of the self serve stations, etc.). During the entire dining experience we felt overwhelmed and consistently rushed. We were sat at a table in a small side room with one door entry/exit way. Multiple times while we were dining, I could see management standing or peering through the doorway and giving our server an intense stare down. After each of these moments, we could feel the pressure on our server as he would try to kindly remind of us how many minutes we have left to dine. This was so uncomfortable for us. We couldn't even enjoy our food as we had to place several rush orders, crowd our grill to try to cook as much as we can, and stuff our faces at record speed. I wanted to love this restaurant, but I was so frustrated at the end of it all. As a wagyu AYCE restaurant, prices are NOT cheap. So we had spent a lot of money...to wait in line, not be able to actually taste the food, have management consistently hovering over our shoulders, and be rushed out of the restaurant. It seems like this establishment values their profits above customer service and experience. The only star given goes to our server, Josh. He was extremely polite, personable, knowledgeable of the menu, and helpful regarding any questions we had. Management even got flustered with him as they were trying to get us out of the restaurant all while Josh was attempting to promote their own rewards program (and my friends even signed up)... I don't have the slightest desire to return after this experience. Until management can be reworked, I think I'll pass.
The best AYCE wagyu place in Irvine (in Jamboree Diamond plaza) Quality meats, good service, nice ambiance. Come around 5pm to avoid long line.
Came here for dinner around 4:30pm to avoid the long wait so we only had to wait about 15 minutes. We chose the Platinum Tier for $98 per person. Overall a fun experience with some unique meats/dishes (stone axe full blood wagyu tongue, wagyu uni caviar nigiri, Hokkaido uni mentaiko). I personally didn't think platinum was worth it since the stone axe full blood wagyu tongue was not my style (chewy, too soft, and really had a tongue-like texture). The Hokkaido uni mentaiko had a cool presentation, but not my fave. Their unlimited meat options were pretty good, but nothing astounding and memorable. I think I only really liked 2 or 3 of their meat options. My fave meat of the night was the A5 short rib thick cut. I also enjoyed the Argentina shrimp (only cuz it was slightly sweet/tasty and my husband peeled it for me)! The salmon carpaccio and salmon nigiri was average (didn't have a strong salmon taste and didn't seem super fresh) The self service station is fun - a good variety of veggies like mushrooms, edamame, radish and desserts/fruit. The sauce bar was pretty average. Service was interesting. At first they helped to cook the specialty meats, but then they stopped midway, so some of the meats got burnt. They are also really strict on the 90 minute limit for a table. The clock pretty much starts right when you get seated (even before they start explaining the menu and before you get your first order on the table)
Lots of variety, clean, nice service, quality self-serve area for sides, dessert, drinks, etc. My only complaint is with the membership communication. I bought it online wanting to go to Mikiya often, but pretty soon after I bought the membership, Mikiya pulled OUT of it all together! I missed the chance to get 3,000 points for my birthday meal because of the lack of communication that Mikiya was even pulling out. It was a mess. I told my server. She tried to get the manager to do something about it, but the manager did not do anything about it, unfortunately. Regardless, our server was very nice. I do love the choices and variety. It's just that it's pricey to go there even with the membership discount because I can only eat so much in one sitting for it to be worth it, besides on special occasions, maybe, of which I sadly missed out on.
My husband and I decided to try this location for my birthday dinner. It was a Sunday night. We joined the waitlist at 530pm and got seated at 6pm. We decided to go with the gold menu and we were happy with that. My husband loves beef tongue so when we're eating somewhere with good beef tongue, that's all he'll really order. The other variety was perfect for me. I really enjoyed the Tom Yum soup. I always order some seafood on the side(squid, shrimp, scallops) and add to the soup so it's kind of like a mini hot pot for me. The self serve area is a little cramped. So you're bumping shoulders to get things when it's crowded, which it's usually always crowded. The service was amazing. Our server was Andy. He was attentive the entire time. He cooked meats when he saw our grill empty and let us know if he was going to disappear for a few minutes while tending other tables. He was always moving. Also very informative. Most of the meats are coated in a lemon aioli of some sort. I love citrus so it didn't bother me but my husband wasn't a fan of it. I ate a lot of the A4 brisket. The wagyu steak was tough and too chewy, I don't recommend that cut. Everything else was great. I one thing that keeps me from coming to the chubby chains more often is the very strict time limit. It's 90 minutes total, last call at 70 minutes. I don't get out with my husband alone very often. So when we can enjoy a meal without our kids, I like to actually enjoy it. No matter how great service was, I always feel rushed. I hate it. I get that there's a wait and they want to turn over tables quickly to make more money but for the price they charge, I'd want a 120 minute limit. I was already put off when 120 minute limits were put in place but more are leaning towards 90 minutes and that's just pushing it in my opinion. But besides the time restraint, the food and service was amazing. Definitely worth a try.
Great service, Sergio was fantastic. We arrived a bit close to closing and Sergio walked us through our rookie run through and loaded us up with a plentiful assortment of his recommendations. Sauces were pretty good, though when it comes to fatty meats, i like salt/pepper and sesame oil in thin meats and a dap or wasabi in the thicker pieces. Tonight's serving was high quality, hope it continues as the restaurant gets seasoned. The place was lively and we left satisfied and full. Parking is a disaster in this shopping center, but if you have not tried it, I recommend it.
Service is impeccable. Our server cooked all of our meats for us and everything was so so SO tender. I feel like theres not much to say, the food kinda speaks for itself.
We've been to the Rowland one, but not this one. The ambiance of the whole thing inside is great! Service was fast and attentive as usual. We had Jason and he was informative on what meats to get. How to cook them and the membership program. It's a bit smaller than the Rowland location, but has the same great meat quality and service. Would come back!
Went with a group of about 20 on a Saturday afternoon around 3 PM. The service was very good and the staff did a great job accommodating such a large group (shout out to Kurt speaking viet), the food itself though was pretty underwhelming. The limited quantity premium meats that you're only allowed to order once for the table were chewey but good. After that plate though, most of the other meats felt pretty subpar. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very cool and definitely one of its stronger points. The artwork covering the walls adds a lot to the atmosphere, although once you actually look at it, reeks of AI generated art and becomes hard not to notice once you start thinking about it. My biggest issue with the layout was the self serve area where you get drinks, sides, sauces, desserts, etc. It is WAY too cramped, shuffling and bumping and grinding, all it was missing was some R Kelly at that point. We were there around 3 PM on a Saturday when the restaurant wasn't even particularly busy, and it was already difficult to move around. I can't imagine what that area is like during peak dinner hours. One thing I would definitely recommend is keeping a close eye on your time while you're there. The dining experience is timed, and it goes by surprisingly fast, especially with a large group. I would recommend continuously ordering or at least always having something in the order queue, even if it's just a small order. Between waiting for food and everyone getting up for drinks, sides, sauces, and other items from the cramped self serve area, you can use up more of your dining time than you realize. Just something to be mindful of so you can actually make the most of the experience. Overall, the service and atmosphere was solid, but the meat quality after the limited premium selections and the cramped self serve setup brought the experience down quite a bit for me. For a restaurant built around premium all you can eat Wagyu, I expected the meat itself to be the highlight. As of right now, not on the recommend list, best way to describe it would be "aight".

Visited this chubby location and tried out the Gold Menu. They have plenty of options for meat but we mostly stuck to the items on the A4 menu. The quality of the meat is great as always. In terms of the sushi, the premium otoro nigiri was delicous. The other nigiri options were okay and we probably would not order those again. Something that was underrated was the Sukiyaki broth, which I don't see many people get. In terms of the service, it was fantastic as our plates were being bussed constantly. What really stood out was the friendliness and attentiveness of our server Josh H who helped out with our meat selection. In terms of the space, the decor makes you feel like you're in Japan. I do wish there were more space between tables and more space at the self service bar because the restaurant does feel extremely compact at times. I would come again for special occasions but don't find myself coming here as a regular. read more

I came here to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing due to a few issues with communication and service. Our group had two Chubby Cattle memberships that we planned to use. When we spoke with our server about the redemptions, it was never clearly explained to us that only one membership redemption could be used overall. Because of that misunderstanding, I ended up not being able to receive my free birthday meal. Had the policy been clearly explained from the beginning, we could have planned accordingly and avoided the confusion. Another issue was how rushed we felt during our meal. I understand that the restaurant may have time limits for dining, especially when it is busy, but one person who I believe was a manager repeatedly made us feel pressured to finish our food because they were very focused on the time limit. We were there celebrating a birthday, so instead of being able to relax and enjoy the experience, it felt like we were constantly being reminded that we needed to hurry. I understand restaurants have policies regarding memberships, redemptions, and dining times, and I have no problem following them. My issue is that these policies should be communicated clearly before or at the beginning of the meal, especially when membership benefits are involved. Overall, what was supposed to be an enjoyable birthday dinner ended up feeling confusing and rushed. I hope management can improve communication between staff and guests so others don't have a similar experience. read more

Previously, I would usually go to the Chubby Cattle in Rowland heights, and my family loved it! Tonight, we decided to come to the Irvine location for my dad's birthday and we were not disappointed one bit! First off, if you've ever been to the Diamond Jamboree Shopping Center, you already know parking can be quite a daunting task However, we only had to wait about half an hour until we were seated, which for places like these, wasn't too bad at all. Walking inside, it was definitely more homey and smaller than the Rowland Heights location, but the food and service was equally as fantastic. Shoma was our server and made the experience memorable - super friendly and respectful, even had a group of servers come out and sing happy birthday to my dad within only a couple minutes of him finding out we were celebrating. The area for the salad bar and drinks was a bit tight but nothing that couldn't be managed. Everything was super easy to see and labeled nicely so you didn't have to guess what you were getting. The meats - chef's kiss nothing beats melt in your mouth wagyu. Would I return here? Absolutely! Just maybe on a weekday again to avoid the long wait read more

Came here for dinner with my partner and had a great time. This is the third Chubby Cattle BBQ location we've visited, and this one is currently our second favorite. Nothing has topped the Rowland Heights location yet, that one is still our favorite!!! However this restaurant was also very nice but also small. One thing I noticed was that this location seemed to have more variety on the menu compared to the Rowland Heights and Crosby locations I've been to. I especially enjoyed the steamed egg. This time, my partner and I decided to try the Silver Pass instead of the Gold Pass. *** The only negative part of our experience was that there seemed to be a strong push from staff to choose a different tier. While waiting to be seated and discussing our order, we were repeatedly encouraged to upgrade. It felt a little odd because we specifically wanted the Silver Pass, and I noticed other guests asking for it as well. I stuck with my choice, and honestly, I'm glad I did. Because I have a membership, we received about $10 off per person, saving around $18-20 total. In my opinion, the Silver Pass was absolutely worth it and didn't feel like a rip-off at all. My one complaint about the restaurant itself is the self-serve area in the back where you get drinks, ice cream, soup, rice, curry, vegetables, corn cheese, egg tarts, and other sides. During dinner service, it gets extremely crowded and feels very cramped and claustrophobic. I think the layout could be improved because there simply isn't enough space for the number of people trying to access it at once. Other than that, the food was delicious, everything tasted great, and our server was very friendly. Overall, it was a nice experience and another great Chubby Cattle location to try. I would definitely come back again, but Rowland Heights still remains my favorite. That location is top-tier. read more

Was in the area for work. Tried their to-go bento. My order was ready on time. The person helping me at the front was friendly and helpful. The food itself was really good quality for the price. Rice was cooked well and the meat quality was great. The seaweed salad was a bit sweet for me but the kimchi was good. I got the gyudon beef bento. They also give you the food in a really good quality reusable bag. Would avoid this parking lot on busy nights and weekends. Parking was fine for weekday lunch. read more

Hear me out... my first chubby cattle experience was in Rowland and that set the bar pretty high. So when they opened this location, I was so excited to have a chubby cattle close by! Wait: we waited 2 hrs before we got seated Parking: free parking but can be hard to find parking since this plaza is always super busy! They do have a parking structure too! Layout of the restaurant: in the back there is the hot bar food, the drinks, the ice cream (pretty much anything you can grab yourself). I felt like it was a bit congested since the area is small and busy because everybody is trying to grab what they need. Service: they cooked the premium meats for you. The quality of the meat was incredible. Melts in your mouth! They were a bit pushy with selling their membership. I wish their membership would include not having to wait so long. read more

An AYCE experience that had a ton of variety, from sushi to various drinks to a decent selection of meats. I had the Silver Set which I think worked out perfectly for a table of two. We got here on a Wednesday around 5pm and only had to wait 20 mins to be seated. We got the diamond set menu. I introduced my coworkers to this and let's just say they fell in love and went crazy from this experience. Even one of my coworkers who's extremely picky with food and rarely eats the same things as us also enjoyed the food. I had chubby cattle for many years now so it was nice to share what I love with people I work closely with. Service was amazing. The server kept checking on us every 15-20 mins. All the meats came in quick. They are all good quality and amazingly delicious! The à la carte menu that items like sukiyaki, carpaccio and Wagyu nigiri was soooo good. So many options!! Definitely recommend getting the garlic butter on the side to dip your meat. Get the membership it's worth the price and investment! read more

Been a member since this place opened and the food and service is still EXCELLENT. I brought a group with me this time in which 4 out of 6 people were new to the experience and they had a great time. The quality of the meats is still the star of the show as I let the. Try all the meats the silver tier had to offer along with some sushi and carpaccio options. Jason was very attentive and prompt. His friendly personable attitude was a big part of the reason 2 of my friends decided to become a chubby member just like me by the time we left! One of the best AYCE spots for both BBQ and sushi! The meat quality was impressive, and the seafood tasted incredibly fresh. Staff was friendly and tentative. They also have a bar area with plenty of extra items like desserts, drinks, soups, and additional food stations, which made the experience feel more premium. Service was good overall. They have different tier levels to choose from. The higher the tier, the more expensive and better quality options you can get. We did the Gold tier which is about $78 per person before taxes and tip. I'd say it was pretty worth it. Everything was great except I found a hair in my food. It was only one dish and I'm glad I caught that. My favorite meat was either the finger meat or the short rib. Service was good, Josh was our server. You order the meats and some other options on the tablet at your table. They also have a lot of food items you can just grab like a buffet. They had rice, curry, miso soup, veggies, drinks, desserts, and more! I really enjoyed their Samurai milk tea. I loved the layout of this place too. Felt like you were in a small town haha. There are games you can play outside too. Parking is always awful at Diamond Jamboree so just be aware of that! read more

The meat was very tender and the food bar was fully stocked with lots of different options. Took the family out to eat recently and they had a blast. We been to the one in Monterey Park, but it was our first time at this Jamboree location. Back then, this spot used to be Tokyo Table and they just got bought out. The interior is clean and decorated with bright colors. Once you walk in, you can see a a fridge filled with Wagyu for display. Looks dope. Theres a table where they have unlimited side dishes, a sauce bar, drink station, ice cream maker, and heated countertop with burgers and egg tart. Everything looks well placed, organized, and neat. We ordered lots of different waygu cuts like the top blade, brisket, tongue, and etc. We basically ordered all the meat to try. My favorite was the cow tongue and the short rib. Very juicy and fatty; kinda like eating butter. It's delicious but you can't eat too much or else you'll eventually get sick of it. We also ordered the sushi there and it was whatever. Tasted fishy, but obviously they are known for their BBQ, not fish lol. The scallop was not bad though. We had sake to wash down the oiliness lol. Pretty buzzed that afternoon. The guy who served us was quick and friendly. Tip, don't eat the side dishes first because you gonna get full. I had the Wagyu burger in the beginning, and I couldn't eat that much afterwards. Had about 4 plates of meat to myself and that's it. I understand the demographics and their demand, especially in that upscale market, but it was pretty pricey even more so in this economy. What can I say that hasn't been said about this place? The food is always on point and the serive is top notch. The burger sliders might be a low key delicious item that I recommend you do not skip. The wagyu has japanese certifications and the line is always out the door. Highly recommend trying this spot out if you have not been before. Come ready to eat! First time here and we have to give it to 3 stars . I do want to shout out to Elisa who helped lifted our experience from the get-go. Elisa cooked for us, and she did an amazing job indeed. However, the line management was totally flawed. We waited in line, a staff added each party from front to end of line to the waitlist. She agreed we wouldn't need to stay in line and will get texted when it's our turn. Wrong, so wrong. Those who stayed in line got to check in with the front receptionist first. We were misled, unprofessional. I had to check in with receptionist myself for a table. Past forward, 2nd mismanagement was when we were told to wait outside for someone to call us as too many ppl waiting indoors already. Well, they never called even after 10 mins. I literally saw ppl who checked in after us got seated first. I came in and observed the backend staff would seat whoever she MEET first in the lobby instead of perhaps going by the order of "checked in" parties? I am overly disappointed. The food is delicious at first and quickly got fatty with bad taste in you mouth if you don't balance things right. You only get 70 mins to order, but the menu is hard to grasp with its unfriendly design. The restaurant is so much tighter than expected. Most Tables are close to one another. The sauce bar? Is the membership worth it?
I have the membership and think it is worth it. You can use it at the hotpot location as well. If you plan on going frequently I would recommend it.

you order through tablet and specialty meats depend on your tier. Speciality meats are cooked by servers but the ones that are AYCE is self cook.

It goes by height, 100cm and under is free, 101cm-130cm is 50%, 131cm+ is full price.
Is there a way to join the waitlist online ahead of arrival?
Irvine location and Cerritos location don't take reservations. No yelp waitlist either. First comes first serves.
Important deciding factor for me, does this location put hot mustard on their sushi? I know Cerritos does 🤢 instead of typical spicy mayo that all there other locations do.

In regular dining you can probably fit 8, the VIP room can fit up to 12 (tight squeeze). There are tables that fit 8, and can accommodate up to 14 (with the end having a gap but next to a booth seating 6).
Does this location have plans to open for weekday lunch soon? As someone who works in the area and goes out to lunch every day, I can say that this place will have a healthy customer base that will keep it busy during the lunch hours.
Most CC locations open for lunch shortly after completing their soft opening.
Do they take reservations?
Walk in only. If you have a Chubby Club NFT or app status of Silver+ you can make priority waitlist requests (24+hours) on Discord once they become available (usually a few weeks after soft opening).
