I came here for brunch and to check out their offering for the Mercury's Sandwich Week and I was not disappointed! The food cart is located in a little gated square, along with several other carts. The central dining area is great-- space is plentiful, there are tented and untented tables, and it is very clean. The food cart space is located on Albina, which means you can easily make an afternoon of your outing. There are a ton of small shops and boutiques around with pretty much anything you can imagine. Chubby Bunny doesn't have anyone outside to take your order. Instead, you order on a big tablet and they text you when your food is ready. I'll admit I actually hate ordering on tablets because I miss getting to chat with a human being, but that was the only negative thing about this experience and I know a lot of people vastly prefer the no contact options. I got the Sandwich Week Breakfast Sandwich (fake eggs and meat with a spicy sauce on a pretzel bun) and a hash brown. It was INCREDIBLE. I was a little skeptical to try the fake eggs (I am a vegetarian, not a vegan), but I couldn't tell a difference at all. I get why they call themselves "accidentally vegan"-- it absolutely tasted like the real deal. The sandwich was large, flavorful, and the sauce had such an excellent zing. The hash brown was perfectly crispy. This was a great meal and for $10, it was a great deal too. We will absolutely return. read more

I saw that it was sandwich week in Portland this week. I love the affordable food themes that have been going on! I did a filter for which restaurants are offering a vegan sandwich for $10! I have heard of Chubby Bunny, but until now, I have not tried them out. They are a food truck located in a pod on Alberta Street. I was able to park close by in the neighborhood. When I entered the pod, I found Chubby Bunny right away. I was planning on paying with cash, but I saw a sign to use the kiosk. The kiosk was handy, but pay with a card. I thought oh well. But when I went to the window, I saw a sign to ring the bell if you were picking up an order, paying cash or had questions. I decided to get another sandwich to go, so I rang the bell and paid cash for it. When my first sandwich was ready, they called my name. I sat at a small outdoor table next to the food truck. The Nice Bunny, which was the special for sandwich week, was really good! It consisted of Fried Spamm, egg, melted provolone cheese, Creole mustard, on a toasted pretzel bun. 100% Secretly Vegan. Always down for breakfast. No matter what time of day. And Chubby Bunny delivers!!!! We went for my son's birthday weekend, so his request. I don't remember what I had (what it was called) but it was a Dos Hermanos bun, like a half baguette sized bun!!! With "egg," hash brown, cheez, bacun and it was GOOD. I devoured it. Yummers. For reals. I've NEVER had a bad meal at CB. Always filling and delicious. And I feel like you really get the value for what you pay. I was looking for an all vegan eatery to bring a visitor to. The reviews looked great and I was excited to bring our visitor and my children. Chubby Bunny is in a pod with 5 other trucks and an entry to a bar. The space was very clean and even a large/long table with a gas fire in the middle. The woman in the truck was friendly and helpful. We ordered the Chubby Bunny, Breakfast Hoagie and two cheese burgers which all came out in an appropriate amount of time. The Chubby Bunny was indistinguishable from an actual sausage and egg sandwich other than the bacon (which was still was good). The Breakfast Hoagie was also great and being on a Dos Hermanos roll put it over the top. My daughters both said they really liked the cheese burgers. I'd definitely come again! read more

OK, so Mr Steve may have enjoyed one more glass of wine than he should have the night before and woke up thinking "I'm hungry, but not up to cooking something" So I went on the Grubhub (as was the tradition at the time) and stumbled across this gem! AWWW YEAHHHH I've called at least 3 of my friends this morning to tell them the GOOD NEWS of the chubby bunny and the big standouts of this sando are - Vegan cheese that isn't trying to taste bougie? I love their imitation ham since it's light, and resembles the pink marbly one used in Vietnamese bahn mi's. This is one of those places where your phone does NOT eat first- it looked so good I just had to dig in and forgot to take a picture My friends and I each got a breakfast sandwich and I could NOT believe they were secretly vegan. The potato mittens are delicious as well. We went here for breakfast the other day. The food truck itself is so CUTE! I love rabbits so I'm obsessed with the logo. It was super easy to find and the staff was nice and service was fast. Maybe I'm spoiling it for them by including it at the top of this review, but it's really a great breakfast sandwich option for every diet. Located at the back of the Belmont Street Eats food cart pod, they serve a small menu of breakfast sandwiches and sides. When wondering what to order, the friendly cashier suggested the croissant-based sandwich because it's hard to make a croissant vegan... All that butter. So, croissan'wich and the titular sandwich was my order! Both were super solid brekkie sandos. As for sides, the potato kitten is a McD's style hash brown and the french rosaries are small slices of super sweet heaven. Coffee was good but not stellar - not sure whose toast they use. As a non vegan meat lover who tries to eat less meat, I am very critical of vegan food, cause tho u may be right about the environmental/ethical/health reasons to eat less meat, it still has to taste good to me. That being said, this was one of the tastiest meat substitutions I've ever tried. The main patty was decent (I could still tell it was vegan) but all the other ingredients were phenomenal, the bacon was not like the tofurkey crap a lot of places have, almost a texture like thin sliced expensive ibérico ham. And the eggs and cheese in there were amazing, I don't think I'd be able to tell those were vegan. And the arugula in there is nice and adds a fresher bite. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the price: $12 is a bit too pricey for an English muffin sandwich, even if it is great quality. Chubby Bunny uses words like "bacon egg sausage and cheese" but does not state it's vegan in the menu descriptions. Looking back, somewhere on the page it did have 'secretly vegan' in very small type and strange font, so that it could easily be missed. I bit into the sandwich, and it was sooooo not bacon or sausage or egg that I immediately had a terrible response. I literally took it out of my friend's hand because she has a severe soy allergy. The descriptions DO NOT indicate this food is vegan, and it's dangerous. I understand wanting to have people try new things they normally wouldn't be comfortable with, but hiding what the items actually are is false advertising and a huge liability, especially for those with food allergies. We ordered from an online platform that made zero mention of anything being vegan except for one tiny area under the hash-brown that you could barely read saying 'secretly vegan.' This could easily be read that it only applied to the hash brown. This was only noticed as we had to go back and look and figure out what we were even eating. Also it tastes terrible, btw. read more

I love a good breakfast sandwich but rarely eat them outside of making them at home. It's just so easy to make yourself nowadays with all the Vegan junk food groceries available in the supermarkets now. Usually I can tell if a restaurant is using Beyond, Impossible, Morningstar, Alpha, Layonna, homemade, etc. for their meats. There was a flavor explosion in this bad boy that I couldn't quite pick out any one ingredient. Sausage, egg, bacon, cheese, hash brown, hollandaise sauce. Everything came together perfectly to create the ultimate kitchen sink breakfast sandwich. Don't pass this one up! The $12 Croissan'wich was tasty and I appreciate them using arugula as yours truly does at home to go along with the egg and bacon. Could've used a bit more greenery to round everything out. To this food truck, I say "yes." After some deliberation I settled on the Nice Bunny- an egg, cheese, Spamm, creole mustard sauce breakfast sandwich on a toasted pretzel bun, and added arugula. I'm an omnivore, but do try to eat plant-based when I can, and I can confidently say that "secretly vegan" fits. I would have had no idea I wasn't eating "real" eggs, cheese and spam. The mustard sauce provided a nice creamy sharpness, and the spamm was a generous portion and well spiced. Textures were on point. I felt satisfied and my stomach felt happy instead of heavy. Coffee was good enough, sure not the best in the world but kinda like what you might get at an NYC bodega or coffee stand. Served it's purpose and was not gross. As someone who is not currently fully vegan, their "secretly vegan" motto absolutely fits the bill. I cut most meat out of my diet a couple years ago, and while McDonald's is generally garbage, my go-to quick hangover breakfast before I said goodbye to pork and beef was an Egg McMuffin and hash browns. I thought I'd never find a suitable replacement, but Chubby Bunny filled that hole with their Benny sandwich and Potato Mittens. I've also tried the croissan'wich, which seems to be their Chubby Bunny sandwich on a croissant, and it tastes similar to (but better than) the famed Burger King breakfast sandwiches I loved as a kid. I really love that Chubby Bunny has been able to not only capture those flavors, but surpass them, and all while remaining completely vegan.
