    Garden Scramble
    Kimmy S.

I go to this place every once in awhile because it's a good place to grab a bite and do some work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute cafe, good ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is good, but just average for the most part, usually the bowls taste a little under-seasoned to me. Today I ordered the garden scramble with eggs, walnut pesto, and quinoa. The presentation is better than what's in my photo, but I forgot to take a pic. Also ordered a gut shot which is 10/10.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a cute cafe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love all the vegan & gluten-free options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a variety of seating inside and on the covered, heated patio out back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order at the counter and then pick a seat. Portion sizes were generous. The Hubs had the biscuits & gravy and added scrambled eggs, which comes with roasted veggies, and he took half home. I had the Beet Reuben with the soup of the day, and it was quite good. My only suggestion would be to change the bread on the Rueben to regular gluten-free sandwich bread because with the gluten-free hoagie bread it's served on, when you bite into it the bread is so dense the beets & cheese & sauerkraut are so slippery it all just slides out the side. It was yummy, but impossible to eat without a mess and I ended up eating the filling with a fork and left half the hoagie roll. Still good & I'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice place[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but I didn't love my banh mi but tasted healthy. Service at times felt a bit abrupt.

The vegan gluten free mushroom biscuits were amazing - can eat them as-is without gravy, toasted with some smooth butter. YUM. Roasted Market vegetables were just potatoes and sweet potatoes - idk why I expected cauliflower, zucchini and other veggies. Also wish it had more tempeh for protein. Regardless, great dish, well balanced. Service was fast - you order at the front, get your own waters and bus your tables as you leave.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really like all the healthy options here. I got the matcha smoothie (9.69$) and it was good. Very fresh. I couldn't really taste the match though, mostly just banana flavor. I can tell they use high quality ingredients here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot to do work and hang out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Employees are friendly.

Wha happen? Oh how the mighty have fallen. This place used to be a very good fresh food juice bar restaurant. It was always very expensive but you assumed you were paying for the wit and expertise of the chef and sourcing of clean and local ingredients. Not anymore from what I can tell. The old recipe for my bowl was unceremoniously changed to replace yam noodles with grated fresh yam, or so it tasted to me.This is a very sad outcome.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute place and friendly staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything was absolutely delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great place to have food with friends or to read a new book and have some coffee![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's a little pricey but the food is great! I got the mocha and the chocolate flavor was much richer than expected.

Yum! What's a great spot. We loved their take in a chickpea tuna as it was spiced with some type of pepper. Definitely has a kick to it! The bread, for being GF, was amazing. Wow. Chewy, crispy, delicious. And then the veggie soup was great! We did as for the cream of potato which I was looking for but I was still happy with the option. They have a great selection of drinks so we grabbed a few to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Enjoyed this meal back home, but the entire space is beautiful, open, green and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd enjoy eating there another time. Service was good, simple interaction with the hostess and then just a wait.

Love that it's all gluten free and lots of vegan options. Their ethics are with organic and local is wonderful. The drinks were a little watered down. The food was mid and could use more seasoning. I did like the pancakes; they were our favorite of everything we got. Service was quick and kind. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance has lots of plants and open feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Gluten and dairy review: This place is wonderful. It's so nice to pick pretty much anything from the menu. Gluten and dairy free! There was a mistake on my mine (allergy) that they were so kind to fix. I was so appreciative. This location has awesome people and yummy food! Great seating. Loved the fresh juice.

Mushroom Stroganoff is off the menu at Harlow and I am in mourning. The chive biscuits remain tasty with a hit of spice and their vegan walnut chorizo quesadillas are flavorful and delicious, served in a gluten-free tortilla filled with walnut chorizo, vegan cheddar cheese, roasted pepper, onion, butternut squash and excellent salsa. Their seasonal vegan pasta dish with spinach, mushrooms and walnuts however, was quite bland and a reminder than we cannot live off our food memories. RIP mushroom stroganoff --you are missed! Harlow remains a solid spot to eat vegan and gluten free food in a friendly atmosphere, especially if you want fresh juices or smoothies, as a complement.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food and ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is right next door to pinolos, and lots of great shops to walk down. Bowls were reasonably priced and a nice healthy option for a meal!

Warning Plant Based Babes! You'll want to order everything on the menu, and you can! This is our second time visiting Harlow and we absolutely love it! Today we tried the quesadillas and wowzers who ever is magically combining ingredients in the kitchen is doing a stellar job, I could consume these nonstop and never grow tired. We also bought the Betty bowl-delicious. And the biscuits-yum. Appreciate businesses like this for our community!

Are the pancakes light and fluffy? And delicious?

Folks love our GF and vegan pancakes!

How long is the wait for Sunday brunch (if going around 11:30)?

Harlow doesn't have waiter service so you wait in line, order, and then sit down. The average wait to order your meal on a Sunday morning is 30-45 minutes. It's worth the wait though! So delicious.

    Is the pancake gluten free?

A valid query, Sixian. Their walnut flapjacks are essentially oatmeal based with walnuts in them. And, since Harlow is a 100% gluten free kitchen, I'm presuming they purchase oats that haven't come in contact with any gluten centric flour such as…

Since it was my first time, I asked the staff for a recommendation. They suggested the bibimbap and mentioned it was on the spicy side, which I was totally okay with. While their cocktails looked really tempting, I ended up getting a Mexican Coke, and I loved that they had it. The bibimbap was absolutely delicious. It had so many different flavors and textures, and somehow they all worked perfectly together. The waiter also suggested mixing everything together before taking the first bite, which I really appreciated. The ambiance was super cute, with a cozy little tiki-bar vibe inside, and they also have a few outdoor tables. The service was exceptional throughout. This is an easy 5-star review from me.

Watch in-depth video breakdown here…read morehttps://youtu.be/2LsMS2vxzRU?is=U5MfItnpo97tUvuq Dirty Lettuce had me questioning whether I was really in Portland or somehow got transported back down South. I'll admit, I came into this place with a slight bias. I'm from the South, and maybe it's ignorant, but when I hear "soul food," I automatically think of the South. I grew up around soul food. I know what good collard greens taste like. I know what good mac & cheese tastes like. So when I heard people on TikTok raving about a vegan soul food restaurant in Portland, Oregon, part of me was thinking: "Soul food? In Portland? How good could it really be?" Well... Dirty Lettuce shut me up pretty quickly. I originally found this place while searching TikTok for vegan restaurants in Portland. Dirty Lettuce kept coming up, and people especially hyped up the fried chicken and BBQ ribs, so I had to see for myself. I ordered the fried chicken meal with collard greens and mac & cheese -- two sides I take VERY seriously. The fried chicken was incredible. The seasoning and batter reminded me of some kind of combination between KFC and Popeyes, while the inside stayed moist and tender. At certain points I genuinely forgot I was eating vegan chicken. It tasted and felt like I was eating a Southern fried chicken plate somewhere in Mississippi or Alabama. Then came the collard greens. Man... These greens tasted like somebody's grandma was in the kitchen cooking Thanksgiving dinner. They serve them in a bowl with plenty of pot liquor, so initially I thought they might be a little watery. Nope. That broth was PACKED with flavor. It was almost like a collard-green soup, and I mean that as a compliment. The greens and the broth complemented each other perfectly. And the mac & cheese? A1. Creamy, rich, flavorful, with this subtle smoky taste that I wasn't expecting. I don't know exactly what they did to it, but whatever they did -- KEEP DOING IT. I also tried the BBQ ribs. They were good, although they were probably my least favorite item compared with everything else. But that's almost unfair because the chicken, greens and mac & cheese set the bar ridiculously high. I also went into the ribs with huge expectations after hearing people hype them up on TikTok, and I'm not really a ribs guy to begin with. So take my opinion there with a grain of salt. They were still good. My one area for improvement would be customer service. The woman who took my order wasn't rude or anything, but I personally would have appreciated a warmer greeting and more inviting energy. I'm very big on customer service, and I think the person at the front counter sets the tone for the entire experience. Maybe she was just having an off day -- we all have them -- but that was really the only part of my visit that didn't match the quality and energy of the food. The restaurant itself is small, clean and has some really cool artwork on the walls. It has a nice atmosphere without trying to be anything overly fancy. But the FOOD is the story here. At one point during my meal, I remembered that Black people make up a relatively small percentage of Oregon's population, and I became convinced somebody from that percentage had to be back there in that kitchen cooking. Because there was no way these greens were tasting this close to something my grandma would have made on Thanksgiving. I came in skeptical. I left thoroughly impressed. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or eat meat every day of your life, I'd recommend trying Dirty Lettuce. And if you're from the South and you're skeptical about getting legitimate soul food in Portland like I was? Go ahead and try it. It legitimately reminded me of a Southern Sunday plate from somebody's mama's kitchen. Dirty Lettuce proved me wrong -- and I'm glad they did. Highly recommended. Experience: I visited Top Burmese for dinner with a friend and was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. This was both of our first times. I am vegan while my friend is not and we had no struggle finding options that suited our needs. What stood out: Service: The staff was knowledgable and checked in on us frequently. Our food only took about 20 minutes to come out despite a busy dinner rush and we were offered chili flakes to spice up our curries. was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Food: For the table, we ordered the samosas which were perfectly flaky and filled with fresh veggies. I ordered the ruby garden non alcoholic beverage as well as the tofu curry with coconut rice. Every bite and drink of what I ordered tasted unique and made with intention. The samosas were incredible dipped into what tasted like a sweet and sour chili sauce. My tofu curry and coconut rice had a delightful blend of textures and tasted like no other curry I have ever had before. Ambiance: The atmosphere is so cozy with Burmese decor alongside dim lighting. It is perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend. Overall, I will be returning to Top Burmese to enjoy more of their vegan friendly curries and appetizers!
