    Garden Scramble
    Kimmy S.

I go to this place every once in awhile because it's a good place to grab a bite and do some work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute cafe, good ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is good, but just average for the most part, usually the bowls taste a little under-seasoned to me. Today I ordered the garden scramble with eggs, walnut pesto, and quinoa. The presentation is better than what's in my photo, but I forgot to take a pic. Also ordered a gut shot which is 10/10.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a cute cafe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love all the vegan & gluten-free options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a variety of seating inside and on the covered, heated patio out back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order at the counter and then pick a seat. Portion sizes were generous. The Hubs had the biscuits & gravy and added scrambled eggs, which comes with roasted veggies, and he took half home. I had the Beet Reuben with the soup of the day, and it was quite good. My only suggestion would be to change the bread on the Rueben to regular gluten-free sandwich bread because with the gluten-free hoagie bread it's served on, when you bite into it the bread is so dense the beets & cheese & sauerkraut are so slippery it all just slides out the side. It was yummy, but impossible to eat without a mess and I ended up eating the filling with a fork and left half the hoagie roll. Still good & I'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice place[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but I didn't love my banh mi but tasted healthy. Service at times felt a bit abrupt.

The vegan gluten free mushroom biscuits were amazing - can eat them as-is without gravy, toasted with some smooth butter. YUM. Roasted Market vegetables were just potatoes and sweet potatoes - idk why I expected cauliflower, zucchini and other veggies. Also wish it had more tempeh for protein. Regardless, great dish, well balanced. Service was fast - you order at the front, get your own waters and bus your tables as you leave.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really like all the healthy options here. I got the matcha smoothie (9.69$) and it was good. Very fresh. I couldn't really taste the match though, mostly just banana flavor. I can tell they use high quality ingredients here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot to do work and hang out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Employees are friendly.

Wha happen? Oh how the mighty have fallen. This place used to be a very good fresh food juice bar restaurant. It was always very expensive but you assumed you were paying for the wit and expertise of the chef and sourcing of clean and local ingredients. Not anymore from what I can tell. The old recipe for my bowl was unceremoniously changed to replace yam noodles with grated fresh yam, or so it tasted to me.This is a very sad outcome.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute place and friendly staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything was absolutely delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great place to have food with friends or to read a new book and have some coffee![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's a little pricey but the food is great! I got the mocha and the chocolate flavor was much richer than expected.

Yum! What's a great spot. We loved their take in a chickpea tuna as it was spiced with some type of pepper. Definitely has a kick to it! The bread, for being GF, was amazing. Wow. Chewy, crispy, delicious. And then the veggie soup was great! We did as for the cream of potato which I was looking for but I was still happy with the option. They have a great selection of drinks so we grabbed a few to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Enjoyed this meal back home, but the entire space is beautiful, open, green and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd enjoy eating there another time. Service was good, simple interaction with the hostess and then just a wait.

Love that it's all gluten free and lots of vegan options. Their ethics are with organic and local is wonderful. The drinks were a little watered down. The food was mid and could use more seasoning. I did like the pancakes; they were our favorite of everything we got. Service was quick and kind. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance has lots of plants and open feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Gluten and dairy review: This place is wonderful. It's so nice to pick pretty much anything from the menu. Gluten and dairy free! There was a mistake on my mine (allergy) that they were so kind to fix. I was so appreciative. This location has awesome people and yummy food! Great seating. Loved the fresh juice.

Mushroom Stroganoff is off the menu at Harlow and I am in mourning. The chive biscuits remain tasty with a hit of spice and their vegan walnut chorizo quesadillas are flavorful and delicious, served in a gluten-free tortilla filled with walnut chorizo, vegan cheddar cheese, roasted pepper, onion, butternut squash and excellent salsa. Their seasonal vegan pasta dish with spinach, mushrooms and walnuts however, was quite bland and a reminder than we cannot live off our food memories. RIP mushroom stroganoff --you are missed! Harlow remains a solid spot to eat vegan and gluten free food in a friendly atmosphere, especially if you want fresh juices or smoothies, as a complement.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food and ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is right next door to pinolos, and lots of great shops to walk down. Bowls were reasonably priced and a nice healthy option for a meal!

Warning Plant Based Babes! You'll want to order everything on the menu, and you can! This is our second time visiting Harlow and we absolutely love it! Today we tried the quesadillas and wowzers who ever is magically combining ingredients in the kitchen is doing a stellar job, I could consume these nonstop and never grow tired. We also bought the Betty bowl-delicious. And the biscuits-yum. Appreciate businesses like this for our community!

Are the pancakes light and fluffy? And delicious?

Folks love our GF and vegan pancakes!

How long is the wait for Sunday brunch (if going around 11:30)?

Harlow doesn't have waiter service so you wait in line, order, and then sit down. The average wait to order your meal on a Sunday morning is 30-45 minutes. It's worth the wait though! So delicious.

    Is the pancake gluten free?

A valid query, Sixian. Their walnut flapjacks are essentially oatmeal based with walnuts in them. And, since Harlow is a 100% gluten free kitchen, I'm presuming they purchase oats that haven't come in contact with any gluten centric flour such as…

Let me tell you these are so worth it! I will start by saying these are not like a standard fluffy donut. Mochi style donuts are more like a thick old fashioned donut in the best way possible. Be ready to be full after one, or two. I love the variety of types of toppings and got half a dozen to try a few. Also loved seeing they fill the donuts to order, so less chance of a soggy center. Note: I had no soggy centers and it took 3 days to eat them all. Of them all, the horchata pudding was my favorite. The warm and creamy flavor worked so well with it. I will say the frosting and fillings were great alone but I wasn't huge on the brighter flavors (key lime, watermelonade) with the donut. Either way, I took care of my donut craving, got to see a different area of the city, and had a sugar rush for a few days.

Good chocolate donut all around. 5 stars Pool Boi - loved the creativity with the little gummy bear in the sour gummy ring and the blue raspberry flavor was on point! 5 stars. Passionfruit curd - fantastic tart curd with a classic mochi donut. Yum. 5 stars. Key lime pie - perfect tartness that worked well with the sweetness of everything. 5 stars. Cocoa pebbles - excellent chocolate donut! Could had used more cocoa pebbles. They need to have more chocolate specials! 5 stars. Horchata pudding - lovely cinnamony donut with a tasty horchata pudding. 5 stars. Ube - I wish the Ube flavor was in the donut too. Perhaps the Ube flavor could had been stronger in the glaze? 4.5 stars. Orange cardamom - subtle cardamom flavor but overall tasty donut. Not especially noteworthy flavor. 4.5 stars. Black sesame and jam - I usually love black sesame, but the combination with the jam was not my favorite. It's probably personal preference, but next time I'm going to ask for it without it. 4.5 stars. Strawberries and cream - compared to the strawberry yuzu, this one was a little underwhelming. Adding fresh strawberries with the cream would had been the way to go. 4.5 stars. Guava cheesecake - the Guava flavor was overpowered by the graham cracker flavor on this one. I think a straight Guava one would be amazing. 4 stars. Compared to pon de ring and more traditional mochi donuts, these had more donut characteristics and were much sweeter and less chewy. So glad we discovered this place!

I was looking for food nearby and came across this restaurant. The food was surprisingly delicious! We ordered the chicken katsu curry, kama-age udon (hokkai miso soup), and the kama-meshi seafood. The chicken katsu was cooked perfectly: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! The sauce also was the perfect texture and taste. My favorite was the kama-age udon with the hokkai miso soup. I love udon but sometimes don't like how thick it is because it fills you up faster and is harder to digest, the udon here is thinner which I fell in love with! It's soft and chewy and the perfect thickness: you dip it on the soup when you eat it. I also loved the soup, I usually have leftover soup when eat noodles, but I finished every last sip! Definitely recommend this dish if you were to only order one item! We also ordered the kama-meshi seafood. I thought this one tasted okay! The flavors of the seafood come through, but I personally like stronger and heavier flavors. It was worth a try! Parking: This restaurant is in downtown portland so it was difficult to find parking. We ended up parking at a nearby garage and paid for parking. They do have a few street parking spots near the restaurant if you want to test your luck! Seating and service: We were seated really quickly as we went on a weekday! They have several tables and a large table that can be reserved as well as bar spots. The restaurant overall looks really nice and is pretty spacious. The servers were really nice and fast to get you what you need! A side note: they have heated toilet seats in their restroom so that's always a plus!

You can hardly tell it is a gluten free item. This is quite possibly the best gluten free cinnamon roll I've ever had. On the savory side of things, I also enjoyed a turkey and avocado sandwich along with a bowl of minestrone soup. I'd say the sandwich gets about 80% there in terms of comparing with a standard sandwich. Gluten free bread typically has less chew than glutinous bread, but I was still impressed with how close it gets. The soup was a touch too salty for me, but a soup and sandwich combo is never bad. I also ordered a smoothie which I highly enjoyed. It was fun having the little bits of texture in it to give a nice mouthfeel to the drink. I ordered through DoorDash and went with the Vegan Pho and salad rolls. On the positive side, they were generous with the tofu, which is more than I can say for a lot of restaurants. The pho broth was already pretty salty when it arrived, but somehow managed to become even saltier overnight. By breakfast the next morning, I was pretty sure it could have been used to preserve historical artifacts. The salad rolls were packed with tofu, which I appreciated, but whatever marinade was used had enough sodium that my old horse Mika probably would've mistaken it for a salt lick. To be fair, my Pescatarian mom and Omni husband both enjoyed their shrimp rolls, so not everything was a miss.
