My pictures do not do this food justice. Everything taste fresh and flavorful. She is cooking it up right in front of you, chopping tomatoes and cutting avocados right there. The one time I came here I had the burger and the peach cobbler, both were delicious! If she can make a regular beyond burger take like that I know her own cooked meals are delicious. I intend to come back to try her more homemade dishes as I'm sure those are jumping. Thank you Cokiea for the mission you're doing in Portland, keep rocking queen! Decided to stop in because I saw great reviews and was looking for good filling vegetarian food. AMAZING. Hands down the best vegetarian food I've ever eaten, if not some of the best food in general I've ever eaten. Prices are so incredibly fair, everything was made to order with organic ingredients and by the food cart owner herself. If you want delicious, hearty soul food you must come here and try it. Even my non vegetarian boyfriend said he wished he didn't get a burger from another cart and got food from her instead. read more

OMG, the tacos. Seriously, a next level above anything I've had, period. 'Twas the day before Christmas ... and I was looking for lunch after having a latte at J Vein Caffé. I asked about the little yellow cart 2 door down and he told me that everything was AWESOME. I went over and started to order, and then the spirit of tacos past seemed to take hold of me and I decided to order up 10 tacos and a couple sides each of the barracho beans and the rice so I could bring it all back to the cart and share it with folks hanging out there with JJ. Now, a warning that the meticulous care she puts into things means it took a little longer than some, not a lot, but noticeable... but oh my gawd, sweet chocolate baby Jesus on a stick... it was SO worth it. The Jackfruit carnitas, along with the super-tasty taco sauce (creamy habanero?) were just ridiculously flavorful! There was absolutely nothing in the mouthfeel or flavor that would have made me think it was anything other than carnitas, but the other ingredients and the sauce just created an absolute flavor bomb that really made all 4 of us grin, say "Wow!" and so much more. Even JJ, with his ever so delicate and discerning palate, just loved them too. And then, the pastor... I had been concerned... I mean how can diced mushrooms actually taste like really pastor? Well, cluck a duck, these tasted like they had just been sheared off a trompo after being lovingly caressed by a blazing torch. We were all in wonderment as to how you could create something from mushrooms that had the right char, complemented by pineapple (as is appropriate) other fillings and more of the salsa to taste... no, not as good as a street taco from a vendor in Mexico, but something far more flavorful and interesting. Wow! So good! But wait, there's more... Really? After all that, I'm going to rave now about the rice and beans? Yep. Seriously awesome. The rice, I think, had been made with stock instead of just water and then also I think saffron and was full of flavor and moist. The beans were spectacular, super flavorful, some of the best I've had, a treat in themselves. My new year's resolution is going to be to eat more here whenever I can! I can hardly wait to bring Miki here to try them with me. I'm looking forward to the shock and amazement on her face...! read more

Adore the food here, literally.that said... waited over an hour for our food and that was after my husband checking twice on the order, they were super overwhelmed couldn't offer us any answers as to why the super long wait... just that they were working on it; I will say the owner was out so it was just 2 other gals working the food cart, maybe they weren't as experienced? love supporting local businesses, however this experience was a rough one that I've never had before and not sure I'd be back read more

Picture this: a small diner in a courtyard off Royal Street in New Orleans, nestled between an antique shop and a witch's charm shop, serving the best in vegan southern fare. That's this place, but in a food truck off the most confusing Sandy Blvd, nestled between a momo joint and a falafel stop. Guaranteed good southern food! The wait was long but well worth it. We had the lasagna which came out piping hot. The cheese layers and the portion sizing were perfect for a real experience of cheesy goodness. It came with a garden salad with raspberry vinaigrette, which was fantabulous! Even the garlic bread was gimme more. We tried two orders of the Mac and Cheese. That was comfort food at its best! And to take our salt levels to the highest heavens, we had the gumbo with a side of okra. Fried okra! You can't get much more southern than that. The gumbo took me to a Louisiana kind of day. Just delicious. We had the meatless meatloaf, mushroom tacos, and mushrooms asada fries. All delicious but I'd say the tacos are the dish I'd go back for. There was a bit of a wait but everything was freshly made and delicious. Certainly worth the wait. read more

The owner is the sweetest and nicest lady and the dishes we ordered were ok. (Vegan Tamales and Potato Taco's) Of particular note the servings are VERY large (3 HUGE tamales along with beans and rice) were included in my order and my friend also was served 3 large tacos along with sides in her order. The only thing that missed the mark was the sweet potato pie. It was rubbery and not too tasty. I think next time I am in Portland I will try the Cobbler here instead. Overall for sure please visit Cokiea's Kitchen in Rose City Food Park as it is worth the trip. read more

I saw this truck after I had already ordered a big meal at another truck, but I could not pass up Vegan soul food. I tried a side of their Mac and Cheeze and it DID NOT disappoint. It wasn't like those dishes made with overly processed vegan cheese. It was packed with so much flavor and it was perfectly balanced. You can tell it was made with so much intention and care. Great owner operator. Was in Portland for small family reunion and of course with 12 people there are twelve different tastes. We chose the food truck park where CoKieas Kitchen was located. Absolutely amazing Gumbo!!! The owner is very nice and obviously puts a lot of love into this food. I was talking with her as I waited on an order, said I hadn't eaten much Vegan food before. She served me up a little sample of her Gumbo and I was astonished. The little sample spoon couldn't shovel it into my mouth fast enough. I look forward to going back and getting the full serving! I had already purchased a protein and was looking for a side. The cart I usually go to was closed so I decided to check out this one. BIG MISTAKE- the attitude was WILD. She didn't want to talk about the food and didn't want to engage with me as a customer. The side was $6 - i gave her $10 - she gave me a $2 bill and said, "I don't have anymore change". Asked for the cash back and put it on a card- because WHAT?! In the short span of 10 mins, she took EVERY OPPORTUNITY to be abrasive and rude. Folks will say she was having a bad day, but I watched the nicest person serve the person in front of me. So the vitriol coming from her was SUPER unexpected and confusing. But message received- I won't be back- the greens were bitter anyway. read more

So incredibly f***ing good and I'm not even vegan. Have had the luxury of trying about half the items on the menu and haven't had anything bad yet. Everything is so well seasoned. Miss when this cart was at the Foster Food Carts in my neighborhood, before the pod closed down. Might be a good thing though, because otherwise I'd eat there everyday. read more

First of all, CoKiea's Kitchen HITS the spot. The greens? SLAP. The Mac & Cheese? SLAPS. The Jackfruit Sandwich? SUH-LAPS. The service beyond amazing, they play R&B, and you can smell the goodness as you walk up to the window, the seating is nice, especially on a hot day. The only regret I have, is that she was sold out of the lasagna the day I went, because it looked AMAZING. 5/5, 10/10, if you're in PDX, hit up CoKiea's Kitchen, get you some greens, and thank me later. read more

Simply Delicious! Great BBQ, great salads, fabulous greens all cooked by a very happy vegan chef! Southern style BBQ that has the sear and is Jackfruit! Great portions and good prices. Vegan for real and not just the impossible burger fare. And don't forget the Sweet potato Pie! It's also a place with parking and a brew spot to add a little buzz to your meal. The staff were so kind and thoughtful. The butter dish is a pleasant surprise, the escargot was a little saltier than I anticipated but reminded me my summer trip in Paris last year. The steak dish was mouth watering and the salmon was solid but not the best I've ever had. I'd rate this as a solid restaurant, especially if you miss France (I did). I would give this 4.6 stars rounding to 5. It's not my top 20 restaurants of all time, but definitely top in Oregon. PS: the creme brulee was very fun, get it!!

Mostly the food was just mediocre. I thought it strange that burritos don't just all come in the same size. Some are listed as small and others not, but you don't have a choice so it's just weird. It tasted fine but the prices are a little high for what you get compared to others. It was just an average experience so I can't say I'd make a point to return but it wasn't to the point where I'd avoid them either. Just kind of an okay situation.

I appreciated that there was a small parking lot outside the restaurant. As I walked up to the restaurant, it smelled divine! We were a group of 8 people, and we were able to grab a table to accommodate us all. There was a water station that we could help ourselves to. I noticed the carry out containers next to the station..good to know for later. We were given paper and pen to write down our order and hand in when we were ready. All this contributed to no waiting for wait staff. But that's where it ended. The orders started coming out randomly. Several people got their appetizers and entrees before I ever got my appetizer. The same with the guy sitting next to me. The guy next to me ordered jasmine tea, and it was quite a while before he got that. All it was, was a tea bag in a cup of hot water. Most of the group was done with their appetizer and working on their entrees before I got my entree of Lemongrass Chicken. It came with rice. Four large mock chicken breasts, I shared one and still brought one home. It was probably the wrong dish for me. It tasted ok, just really dense, and I'm not used to mock meats. I like mock meats, just not a lot at one time. I should have gotten the Teriyaki Chicken that I saw others ordered, it looked good and came with broccoli. After I was almost done with my entree, my tofu spring rolls with peanut sauce came, my neighbor got his spring rolls at the same time. The spring rolls were good! I love fresh rolls with peanut sauce! Shortly after getting our appetizers, my neighbor got his lamb balls. He said they were good. The flow of serving the food was terribly unorganized. Only one drink was ordered, tea bag in water should have been fast and easy. Appetizers should have been served next, before anyone started receiving their entrees. The guy next to me was starving, I thought he was going to faint. A few people shared a few bites of their meals with him. He just didn't want to eat too much before his meal arrived . Overall, everyone enjoyed their meals. If a friend wants to go, I would go. I will know better what to order next time.
