Took a stroll on Main Street with my son and came across The Chubby Bunny. What a quaint, little bakery. They have a varied selection of goodies and they are all gluten free and vegan. Looking at their display of baked goods was mouthwatering. I decided on the chocolate raspberry cupcake. The chocolate cupcake was very rich, decadent, and moist. I was surprised by the hint of raspberry filling on the inside but taking a bite and getting a taste of the chocolate cupcake, icing, and raspberry on top all at once was well blended and a definite treat for my senses. I would not have guessed it was vegan. My son picked the chocolate chip cookie and the chocolate chip cookie sandwich. He said he enjoyed both. In the past 6 months I've developed a bunch of food allergies and sensitivities. If you've ever read any of my reviews, you know dessert is my favorite, so facing a birthday without being able to have cake or cookies as a result of needing to avoid dairy and wheat was daunting to say the least. Enter Chubby Bunny, a bakery catering to those with food challenges. What I love about this place is that they aren't just trying to make a version of something you've already had that might taste sort of like it, they're creating their own deliciousness and unique recipes that hold their own against any sweet I've had. The store itself is quaint and cute in the heart of downtown Hamilton. Inside, I was met with SO many options of things to try. I settled on a strawberry frosted chocolate brownie (incredibly decadent and the icing is so creamy and just sweet enough without being overly so), iced sugar cookie (dense and shortbread like, just the way I like it) and a salted chocolate chip cookie (probably my least favorite, but still a quality cookie). I am always on the look out for a bakery, and this one is definitely on the list for near by gems! We went a little over board for a weekend delight. The s'mores cookie is beyond delicious, heated up adds an additional gooey goodness! The oatmeal cream pie, was beyond delicious. The center was the perfect amount of sweet! The school lunch brownie is not to be passed up, the texture is perfect! So much chocolate! Carrot cake cupcake, the icing was the best that the babe has ever had! Amazing that Chubby Bunny is all GF! But, I didn't realize they were also vegan, which is good for vegans, but maybe the recipes suffer a bit. You need to temper your expectations when ordering a "doughnut". It is a cupcake, in doughnut form. So, if you are expecting something akin to Krispy Kreme, you are in for a surprise. The pumpkin chocolate chip "donut" was very tasty though, all the fall vibes, would order again! The oatmeal creme pie was another standout..it was just like getting it in the store, but better! Some misses were the zucchini muffin - good consistency, but no zucchini flavor, and the s'mores donut - was too much, almost didn't finish it. The vanilla cupcake was not memorable. For being organic and non-GMO ingredients, the prices are VERY inexpensive! The staff was super nice, I'd go back again, even if it was just for the pumpkin donut/muffin. ;) read more

A vegan, gluten free bakery opening in Hamilton is basically a dream come true. I've been following the Chubby Bunny Bakery for awhile. The products are available at both Jungle Jim's locations, Kofenya, the Moon Co-Op, Miami and Village Perks in Seven Mile. Sometimes at local events like Operation Pumpkin, too. But a real BAKERY in my hometown is really exciting. Their website says, "Everything we make is gluten, egg, dairy, and nut FREE and certified vegan. Some items contain soy, but if you have allergies to this or anything else, we can prepare any of our baked goods with substitute ingredients upon your request. We use organic and non-GMO ingredients--no preservatives or ingredients that you can't pronounce." Their location is conveniently located near True West and Unsung Salvage. A parking lot is right around the block. Today was opening day and I was really impressed at the number of customers already there purchasing baked goods and hummus. Chickpea Chicks hummus is also available at this location. And, while I have not tried it yet, I'm excited to report I bought some pumpkin curry hummus and they offer dessert hummus. I bought two chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate chip pumpkin donut. The pumpkin donuts are an absolute don't miss. I can't wait to try everything they have to offer. read more

Appreciate the idea, and the staff was super friendly. However...UNLESS YOU ARE USED TO VEGAN FOODS, this will be a serious let down. We tried an iced sugar cookie, raspberry chocolate cupcake and a confetti cupcake. Honestly, not very good, they all tasted similar and we ended up throwing 90% of the purchase away. In all fairness we are not Vegan, but just wanted to check the place out. The wife and I found the consistency to be odd and the taste did not live up tohow nice the items looked. The 3 items above were $10, which is semi-outrageous on its own, but I'm sure Vegan baked goods aren't inexpensive to produce. If you are Vegan, you should go and go now, fully onboard to support a new local business, but for everyone else...pass. read more

I've been to this location twice and frequently buy their goodies at Jungle Jim's. They are Gluten Free AND Vegan and I highly recommend them even if you dont follow either of these diets. The best vegan bakery in southwest Ohio, hands down. The quality and selection can't be beat, and the owner is amazing. As a vegan, I have REALLY struggled to find a bakery in Cincinnati that meets my standards. Other places with physical locations in the area make sickly sweet garbage that I'd be embarrassed to give to a non-vegan. Baked goods have to also have some savoriness, people! And there's no reason why vegan confections should taste any different than their counterparts that are made with the byproducts of exploited animals. When you go somewhere and pay for food that you could have made way better yourself, it's a frustrating waste of your time and money. Well, Chubby Bunny changes ALL of that. The baked goods are the PERFECT balance of savory and sweet. The variety of beautiful confections in the store's case made me feel like a kid in a candy store. I bought so much that I made up for years of not having a decent bakery to fulfill my sweet (and savory!) tooth... and it has been worth every calorie to enjoy every last cupcake, muffin, cookie, and donut that I got. I hope with all of my heart that this place stays in business. It deserves to more than any area vegan place I've found in a long time. Totally worth the drive from Cincinnati.
