    Pumpkin, strawberry hojicha, Hawaiian butter
    Lisa S.

One of the best Mochi I have ever had, quality and taste is very comparable to Japan! So chewy and flavourful. My favourite was the pumpkin flavour, a very rich and creamy filling. The little pumpkin, It's so cute! I really enjoyed the strawberry inside the hojicha Mochi as well. Tasted fresh and sweet. The Hawaiian butter one was savoury, flavour was subtle which makes you focus more on the texture of the Mochi, which was perfectly chewy. Will def order again to try the different flavours! Fantastic job to small business owners, Tracy and her momma!

Chubbi Rice (they're now offering downtown pickups!) Tracy (the founder) and her mom put lots of love and into each mochi dessert. This time around, I tried their Chocolate Strawberry Ganache Daifuku Mochi and Sesame Daifuku Mochi. Here's how it went... -------- The Breakdown: Chocolate Strawberry Ganache | $9 | 9/10 - chocolate wrapped with mochi and topped with fresh strawberry. I enjoyed this one especially for the combination of dark chocolate with strawberry and mochi. All flavours were well balanced. Sesame Daifuku | $9 | 9/10 - mochi stuffed with sesame and nuts. This was an interesting one for me since I didn't usually eat sesame desserts. I've only tried sesame ice cream. If you're a sesame lover, this is for you! Packaging | 10/10 - love how their packaging is beautiful and eco-friendly. The branding is in on point and Im in love with how cute the logo is. They usually do pickups in Markham but now they finally have downtown pickup in case you're not close to the Markham area. New flavours will be released soon. Craving some delicious daifuku mochis in the GTA? Chubbi Rice is the place to go! I am in love with her packaging because of its simple and cute design. Now let's talk about the mochis!! These soft and chewy mochis are literally the best. I am inlove with the pillowy texture of the mochi along with the fillings. The fillings were not overwhelmingly sweet which is a must for Asian moms haha. The tiramisu mochi is perfect for tiramisu and mochi lovers. The ladyfingers are soaked in rum and coffee hence the delicious texture and taste. My ultimate favorite is their Hawaiian butter mochi that is topped with coconut + black sesame. Mochi was super soft and chewy. I love how creative these flavours are so if you guys want to give these a try order now! Please check her out and support her small business because you wont regret it. The owner is the nicest and sweetest!

Gorgeous mochi in seasonal flavours. So far, I've tried strawberry red bean daifuku, watermelon basil, and pumpkin. I'm missing peanut butter and jelly but I hope to try that one soon. The mochi exterior is always perfectly balanced between soft and chewy. They're best the day of, but I've had them the morning after and they're still absolutely delightful. Each flavor has a different design and all of them are beautiful. Strawberry red bean daifuku - traditional. Tracy, the founder of Chubbirice, insists on only seasonal fruit, so this was a summer flavour, but when it was available, each strawberry was perfectly plump, juicy, and oh so fragrant. I'm not a fan of red bean but the sweetness in the red bean perfectly balanced the tartness of the strawberry. This one's a more subtle, delicate flavour. Watermelon basil - This one was a summer flavour too. It's a chunk of sweet, crisp watermelon wrapped in mochi with a basil leaf on top. It sounds a bit basic, but the flavour is also a love/hate one. I enjoy it. The soft, chewy mochi really brings out the crisp texture of the watermelon. That surprised me quite a bit. In fact, while I was trying to process how I felt about this mochi, I had a second one. It grew on me. Pumpkin - This one's here for the fall! I tried this one this past weekend at my brother's wedding (Chubbirice provided the wedding favours). As someone who likes more pronounced flavours, this one was my favourite. It looks like an adorable little pumpkin with a little cashew stem, and is filled with pumpkin pie. Literally. Crust and all. It's an incredible pumpkin pie too. Wonderfully spiced. The mochi really balances out all the pumpkin flavours. At about $4 each (they come in boxes of 4 or 9), they're not super cheap, but given how much work goes into each mochi, entirely justifiable for the price. Looking forward to seeing what other flavours are to come!

I tried these as a gift and had the strawberry matcha daifuku. They looked super cute and were very tasty. The tartness of the big strawberry on top balanced out the sweetness of the mochi and matcha filling. The mochi itself was soft and chewy and tasted very fresh. Would love to try their other flavours sometime. It's nice to see small home bakeries grow and gain popularity!

A new month means new flavours! For the months April and May, Chubbi Rice offers 3 different flavours of mochis: Tiramisu Daifuku, Strawberry Matcha Daifuku, and Butter Mochi! The Butter Mochi has a subtle sweet flavour with some toasted coconut and sesame on top. I loved the strong matcha flavour in the strawberry matcha daifuku. My favourite though would have to be the tiramisu daifuku. The tiramisu flavour works really well with the chewy mochi. I can't wait to see what flavours Tracy and her mom comes up with next month!

A new spot for mochi in Toronto that is a must try. Currently, they are only offering curbside pickup in Markham, but everything is kept contactless which is perfect in our current times. Easily order via their website for select dates! I had the pleasure of trying out their first three flavors releases: 1. STRAWBERRY & RED BEAN: A daifuku classic featuring a mochi filled with semi-sweet red bean paste and a whole strawberry fruit. I personally found the sweetness level of the red bean to be perfect, being offset a little by the subtly tart strawberry (which, as you know, can vary seasonally). Red bean isn't a personal favorite of mine, but Tracy executed this nicely as the paste was quite smooth and not grainy at all. I love the incorporation of a real fruit, which gives this treat a splash of freshness. This was literal perfection, and for that, I give it a 5/5. 2. PB&J: Bringing a twist on this sandwich classic to make it an innovative mochi flavor! Though I'm not huge on jam, I liked how this had a very jello-y consistency, which was neat. The jelly was slightly tart, which greatly contrasted the saltiness of the peanut butter. The PB was crunchy as well, meaning there was complexity in texture for each bite. Honestly, I loved the peanut butter so much that I would love for Tracy to make a mochi with just that! (4.7/5) 3. WATERMELON BASIL: Such a unique flavor for a mochi that this was definitely my first time trying this combination. I highly recommend you take Tracy's advice and chill this mochi prior to consumption, as my impatient nurse-self who needed to sleep prior to a shift did not do so, and I think it compromised the overall texture slightly because of the juice from the fruit. Otherwise, this had "summer fresh" written all over it and pairing it with basil was genius and worked so well. There was also quite a contrast in texture between the crunchy watermelon and chewy mochi (4.5/5) All in all, Tracy has her mochi technique down pat! It's so smooth to touch and perfectly chewy. Her ratios between skin to filling are also perfect. You have to check her goods out!

New favourite Mochi spot, have tried all the flavours and they have all been amazing! Always buy a pack when there is a friend or family gathering and never disappoints. Owner is very open to feedback and suggestions through her ig. Haven't had any issues for any of my orders and definitely recommend for anyone to try their unique take on mochis.

Tried their daifuku mochis in sesame and strawberry for the first time this weekend and loved them both so much! Tracy was super accommodating and all my friends loved them. Will definitely be back and can't wait for new flavours :) LOL my pic only shows the strawberry ones cause I ate the sesame already

The mochis are SO cute and delicious. Tracy is so sweet as well! I would 100% recommend you try it out! Such incredible flavours and great sizes, one of the best in Toronto!

And I haven't even begun to talk about the flavors. Their signature dish/pastry is the Mont Blanc. It is highly sought after, and often run out before the afternoon.
