Great kolaches and donuts and most of the staff is very nice with the exception of one younger woman who usually works on the weekends. Her attitude isn't very welcoming and I try to give people who wake up very early for these shifts the benefit of the doubt because I have also worked an extremely early baking shift but her attitude really isn't pleasant and she just looks absolutely annoyed with everything you say to her. I've lived down the street from Christy's for over a year and finally made a visit. I'm wondering how i did not go here sooner!!! From the outside, it doesn't look like much - the staff there told me that they had been around for over 30 years in the same building! But don't let that stop you from trying the deliciousness that awaits inside!! I got a sausage and cheese kolache as well as a chocolate glazed donut. That plus a bottle of water was only $3!!! And they're not small bites. They were both very filling items. But then the best thing of all....THEY GIVE YOU FREE DONUT HOLES WITH OTHER DONUTS!! I opened up my donut bag and saw not 1, but 2 donut holes!!! Do you know how many times i think, i would love just a couple of donut holes?? But most places sell them by the dozen. BEST DONUTS EVER. I went at 5:15am this morning because I'm a freak and wanted warm donuts to soothe my soul during this pandemic. I ordered the glazed, chocolate frosted, cinnamon crumb, glazed old fashioned, apple fritter, and small coffee. My boyfriend got the cinnamon cake and sausage/cheese kolache. My absolute favorite was the chocolate frosted. Simple yet decadent. My second favorite were the complimentary donut holes the lady threw in. They had a light crisp from the glaze, yet melted in my mouth. I will be dreaming about Christy's Donuts until the next time I swing by. Have been going here for years and even when they're busy, they staff enough employees to always be prompt. Their donuts and Kolaches are great and their prices are better than most. I gave this place another shot because it's convenient for me to drop by when I want a kolache but of course I was disappointed again! If something says JUMBO on it, that's what you expect, and that's what the jumbo kolaches are lacking. The weenie to bread ratio is a joke. The jumbo sausage kolache is amazing, buttery and soft breading with juicy jumbo sausage. The Boudin Kolache is one of the best I have had and I am not a huge fan of boudin. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's definitely the kind of place that has survived generations of gentrification in Montrose so you know it's good!! There's always a line out the door but it moves fast. My favorites are the jalapeño sausage and cheese kolache and the sausage egg and cheese kolache. I swear the sausage patty in the latter is the best seasoned sausage patty I've ever had - I don't even understand how it's so good, but it hits the spot every time. I was looking for a place for kolaches for breakfast, and Yelp took me to Christy's. It's a small diner with a huge menu of yummy delights! The parking lot is very small, and full of cars when I went at 9 am on Saturday. Inside, they have a huge glass display of all of their doughnut creations. They have menus for breakfast sandwiches, kolaches, doughnuts, and drinks. You can buy each item a la cart, or save money by buying in half or full dozens. It was my first time at Christy's (and I'm a visitor to the area), and things got hectic while trying to order. The older ladies on staff got really impatient with my group and me, until a younger server stuck with us while we decided on what we wanted, which was a mix of kolaches and doughnuts. There are a lot of people in line and working behind the counter, so there's a lot going on at a fast pace, so try not to be indecisive. In the end, we ordered a dozen kolaches and half dozen doughnuts. The kolaches are okay; they're cheap but the bread is just regular bread. It's not exceptionally buttery or flakey, and the quality of stuffing varied among the kolaches. The ones that were good are really good! The ones that are meh, just skip them. The doughnuts are all really yummy! They are fluffy and not overly sweet. Go for any of the doughnuts you want. The kolaches: - Boudin - definitely the best. - Bacon, egg, and cheese - Good choice - Sausage, egg and cheese - Good choice - Jalapeno, sausage and cheese - Not much jalapeno in it, we weren't sure if it was the right kolache - Ham and cheese - Skip it! It's a slice of yellow cheese and one slice of ham Doughnuts - Apple fritter - HUGE, chunky, and delicious!! My favorite - Twists - soft and fluffy - Glazed dougnuts - not overly sweet and goes great with your morning coffee - We didn't order any, but we got some doughnut holes in our box. A nice surprise! The donut would have to be really bad, cooked in bad oil and over done. Not today! 6 total donuts. Sugar, Apple fritter and a Strawberry Jelly for here. An Old fashion, chocolate covered yeast w/ sprinkles and a blueberry cake glazed to take home and share later. The jelly filled was really good. So was the fritter. After having been to so many donut shops, around the country....... Christy's was okay. Not really a gourmet donut place and that's okay. Pretty good. I've been to Christy's twice in the last month now. Some of their items are pretty good and some not so much. The parking is a bit crazy. The line can be incredibly long, last time it took me over 10 minutes to get to order. Some people came in, saw the line, and turned around. I do like their devil's food cake doughnuts. Their cake doughnuts will keep me coming back for more. There are plenty of different types of doughnuts to choose from, so that's always good. I picked up 3 dozen kolaches a week ago and asked for a variety. When I brought them to the all day meeting, I tried a few different ones throughout the day. I wasn't impressed with the huge cut up sausages inside the kolaches. Recently I went back because I needed a sugar fix to make it through the morning. I went ahead and tried two more kolaches and they were completely different. I thought these were pretty good. My confusion was that I don't know the difference between what I got before and the ones I got this time. I thought they were both sausage kolaches. As usual, the cake doughnuts were good. I think a long line will be a deterent for me in the future. I can't spend quite so long in the line. read more
