The receptionists...the frail looking guy was very friendly,would not have any idea of what he is doing at times but very friendly and would try to help. there was another lady there, i think her hair was wavy,friendly at times..AT TIMES... and then the white older lady..not so friendly. And the doctor? Dont have anything good to say about him, very unprofessional. This place? All about the money.. greedy greedy.. DONT GO HERE. If you feel like you wanna waste a couple hundred bucks and be treated rudely,this is the perfect place. I was patronizing this place for nearly ten years. Up until two years ago. They are located in a convenient area of Norwalk. One block northwest of Cerritos College. The service here is great. I have absolutely no complaints about the service here. From the front desk all the way to the Dr. I've referred pretty much my entire family and friends that needed optical services. You would think they'd extend a loyal customer some type of discount for the service I've referred to them. Practically, all those clients I've referred have discontinued their business there. Their prices are a bit overpriced I later learned. If there is one thing I truly miss about this place is the service. My orders for contacts were always prompt. I would always get reminders for my next appointment. Bottom line is there was no incentive for me to continue being a loyal customer. Unfortunately, we had to split ways. read more

I walked into my appointment with the Doc and felt comfortable with all the exams. He has an awesome bedside manner including a sense of humor! Scammed!! I was dressed nicely (for a job interview) when I came in for my yearly checkup, usually completely covered by my insurance. I did the tests and checkups, and the entire time I noticed they were complimenting my outfit. ( the doctor pointed out I had nice shoes- more later) They led me to a new machine I had never done before and they told me it was new technology and directed me to sit down and use the machine and so I did. At the end, they told me I could get reading glasses for my astigmatism. OK. I asked which glasses were covered. The receptionist refused to tell me and kept directing me to designer sunglasses. She kept showing me sunglasses and I was there for 30 minutes trying to be nice saying no thank you, can I please see which ones are covered. THEN the nurse tried to convince me to buy $225 Raybans because as she said and I quote "you paid $100 for your jacket you might as well invest in glasses" Oh HELL no. By the way- my shoes were $25 from Amazon and my jacket was $50 at TJ Maxx. 40 minutes in- She FINALLY told me I could take the prescription and I did not HAVE to take glasses home. 40 minutes of my life wasted. So I make my way to the checkout counter to get my prescription. The reception tells me "$40 please". I told her she must be mistaken, my insurance covers the check up. She then proceeds to tell me that yes, the check up was free, but the new technology the doctor showed me and HAD ME DO was $40. I was flabbergasted. At no point during my checkup was I made aware that I would have to pay. Nobody asked me if I wanted to use the new machine. They told me "this is new, sit here, just look through here." This is the last time I will EVER go here and please everyone- be aware of what they are doing. I don't know if they targeted me because I was dressed "nicely" or "rich", or if they are doing this to everyone that comes in for a check up. They are cheating people out of their money!! I want to begin by saying that Dr. Ciampa and his staff are always very nice. I have been debating whether to write this review for over a year, just for that reason. I eventually felt compelled to; this review is for quality of service not friendliness. I had gone to Dr. Ciampa for over 20 years, and found that my vision was slowly diminishing, but just attributed it to getting older, that coupled with the fact that Dr. Ciampa told me that my vision was not bad and a new prescription was not necessary. Last October I went to Eye Physicians of Long Beach because I felt as if my vision had deteriorated to the point where I needed new glasses and I was experiencing dry eyes. While there they did a thorough examination and it turned out I had advanced glaucoma for my age. I could not believe it! I went to my annual exam with Dr. Ciampa religiously, paid for the additional eye health exams each time and was told my eye health was fine. I am so glad that I ended up at LB Eye Associates, or who knows where my vision would be right now. As anyone with glaucoma knows, the disease slowly takes your vision and can cause blindness if it goes untreated. Luckily for me, I was diagnosed. I take my drops daily and the glaucoma is now under control. Very disappointed with Dr. Ciampa to say the least. Let this be a warning, do not trust your eye health to the "state of the art" machine in his office, you run the risk of an eye ailment going undetected. read more

I have been coming here for years and I'm finally fed up. There are just too many cons, and I can't even think of a single pro. It is overpriced and Dr. Ciampa is rude. He does not like to give out prescriptions and expects the customer to buy lenses and contacts from his office only instead of shopping around (for a better price). I definitely will not come back. I needed a dr asap & looked at Yelp for help, well this place was AWFUL! It was filthy, waited over 30 mins for my appointment to be later harassed to get glasses. The dr is so fake with a horrible temper, I heard him raise his voice at his employee because I didn't want to purchase frames there and wanted my prescription. His office was horrendous, they have to have roaches there. Even his "wife" was pressuring me to get glasses, I will not be stepping foot there again. She seems sweet but, is fake as well she flirts with the men there to have them purchase the designer frames. Some advise; you Have every right to ask for your prescription & I should not be given attitude for it. I have no idea how this place remains open. read more

I will never forget the level of unprofessionalism and crookedness they showed me. The people who work here are sneaky, evil, and liars. The doctor and the receptionist are money-hungry and very immature people. They held my prescription information hostage and did not give it to me when I asked, simply because they didn't want me to buy glasses elsewhere with my eye info, and were trying to force me and my mother to buy glasses there, taking advantage of my barely-speaking English mother and myself (who was in high school at the time and didn't understand). I knew something was wrong when the receptionist was extremely pushy and rude in saying, "No I can't give it to you, you can only buy glasses here nowhere else!" I realized they were bad people and weren't going to give it to me--so guess what I did: I went to a different optometrist place and according to laws set in place, they are not allowed to do that! My new place was asking them for my prescription information because you have to transfer over a new patient's info from their old place and guess what happened? They REFUSED TO GIVE IT TO THEM, yelling and being unprofessional to them through the phone. My new optometrist place even said that because of the way they were acting, that they do not want to speak to them again and to fax over the information instead--they still didn't want to. It was not until my new optometrist threatened to report them for withholding medical records that they finally released it. They are sad, sad people. I can't believe my heart when I was there as a teenager asking the woman at the front desk can't you just print it out? And she told me no she can't. Please don't let yourself and your family be taken advantage of by them. I am so disappointed to see that they're still in business and their license hasn't been revoked. And you know what's funny? My new place literally gave me a printout of my prescription after my appointment without me having to ask. They gave it to me "in case I wanted to order glasses elsewhere and to keep for my records." Wow, just wow. Ciampa and the entire office is corrupt and disgusting. I'm pretty sure the five-star reviews on here are their friends whom they've told to review. This "business" is full of frauds and conmen. Had a very positive experience here :) Came here after I FINALLY got insurance through the company I work for. I was excited to be able to go somewhere else besides Wal-Mart for my vision needs (not talking trash about Wal-Mart but it would be nice to have a dedicated eye doctor, k?). After researching finally decided on this place cause my sister went here many moons ago. I was the first client in so my wait was not long at all. The whole staff was very friendly and attentive. Our insurance covered the glasses prescribed, but after receptionist and Doctor spoke they decided to add $40-$45 dollars for a "protective layer" for the lenses. I LOVE Dr. Ciampa!!! He is an expert and compassionate doctor. My family switched insurance to KAISER, so to my misfortune I went to the KAISER optometry department in Bellflower. The doctor I was assigned to was awful, her eye exam and prescription turned out to be useless. I had such a horrible feeling after going to KAISER that I went right away to my previous eye doctor, Dr. Ciampa. Dr. Ciampa saw a problem with the KAISER prescription as compared to his records of my vision. There appeared to be a significant change and he decided to recheck. What a difference! Dr. Ciampa took his time checking my eye thoroughly. Dr. Ciampa allowed me to test what the other doctor had prescribed and the result was blurry and disorienting vision. He then showed me his prescription recommendation, and everything became sharp and clear!!! Dr. Ciampa is an awesome doctor that has a big heart for his patients. Besides being a wonderful doctor, his staff is friendly and organized. His office has a vast array of beautiful glasses and is well-stocked with contact lens. If he does not have your prescription contact lens available, it is ordered and you are called quickly when it arrives. I highly recommend Dr. Ciampa for your vision needs! read more

I had my scheduled appointment for 6:15pm they had me fill out my paperwork since it was my first time. After waiting and waiting they called me up and canceled my appointment with no explanation. Still a mediocre establishment. Stay away! Stay away! Stay away! You've been warned!!! Took my business to another optometrist and had them request copies of my prescription and file. After several attempts by the staff, I had to get involved in the efforts to obtain a copy. When I inquired about the turnaround time, I was promised the information had been faxed. Yet, it never made it to my new optician?! Ok, fine. I requested a copy to be sent to my home address which was verified over the phone as true and accurate. This was a month ago. Didn't receive anything in the mail. Not surprised. Last time I requested a copy of my prescription I had to pressure them several times a day for almost a week to get them to lift a finger. read more

Dr. Ciampa was very helpful in handling my needs. As both a contact lens wearer and eyeglass wearer he helped me find the perfect solution for my sudden issues regarding my inability to read the fine print on anything! He was very thorough with his exam and gave me an understanding of how things work with the eyes as we progress into our 40s! He set me up with some excellent contact lenses after allowing me to try two different options. They set me up with new reading glasses which are PERFECT and a new RX for progressive eye glasses. Everything was delivered to me in a timely manner and they even ensured I received rebates. Given that I don't have vision insurance, I was pleased to see that they kept my budget a priority while I was under their care. I went into his office after i had visited one of my old Dr's I needed contacts ASAP the receptionist told me there was no Dr in that day. I looked at him like uh why are you open then? So I left, I googled nearby optometrist and I seen Dr. Ciampa, I didn't bother reading any reviews I just got directions and drove there. Not only are the 2 receptionist really nice but Dr Ciampa walked out and greeted me before it was even time for me to be seen. I've gone to many optometrist or general Dr's offices most Dr's don't even look your direction until your called into the room. They are so professional the lady that took my first exam was super nice then Dr Ciampa took over and he told me exactly what was going on with my vision gave me some extra details and everything. Then we start talking as if we were long time friends just catching up and turns out the lady that had examined me the first time is his wife! Before going to Dr. Ciampa my 60 year old mom had been a patient and she always raved about the service and care she received. It is not my habit to make public my dissatisfaction with any products or services i get but the latest experience i had at Dr. Ciampa's is so bad that i need to share it on here. I went to him last year and had a fair service. They overpriced the frame and if i did not complain i would not have gotten a discount. Imagine a Ray-ban frame priced at $125 online being sold to you at $275!! But they backtracked and i got a refund. That was last year. I went back this year because i have a bad habit of being "loyal" to a place i went to before because i dislike doing all the initial paperworks - but it was a mistake! I went in June this year for my annual eye check-up and i ordered another set of sunglasses. I ordered the same style as last year but chose a different color. I got a fair price this time. I went first week of June and, unfortunately, it's 3rd week of July now and i don't have my sunglasses yet. Two weeks ago, i was informed that they were ready. I gave up half a day's work for that because i work 40 miles away only to be told that the information they gave me was incorrect, the glasses were not ready and they were sorry. Today, i called again because they did not bother to call me and give me any update since July 2. I was informed that they would check and would to call me back. I waited but did not receive any calls. I decided to call again after an hour and, this time, i was told another excuse: Apparently, they lost the frame and reordered a new pair and that i will have to wait another 3 weeks. 3 freaking weeks more! Summer would be over by then!!!! So, If i get lucky, i will get it by first week of August, i was told. And, again, they were SORRY. Two months for a pair of sunglasses!! Hashtag: WOW! read more

It is always a great experience for our whole family at Dr. Ciampa's eye clinic every time we are due for our yearly eye examination. He is very thorough in his examination and will explain all his assessments in our level of understanding. Even our kids loved him! He is very good both with the adults and the kids! The receptionist is very nice and accommodating and very patient in helping our son in practicing how to put his contact lens. I came here to get my son's eyes checked and inquire about contacts for him which cost me $120.00. I have been coming here before for 3 years and every year I came here, it looked more dirty than the previous year. It looks really unsanitary. Anyhow, when we told Dr. Ciampa my son wanted to get contacts, he tried really hard to convince us to buy the brand he carried. He gave me coupons and told me I would be getting a "great deal" on very good contacts by spending about $400.00. I made a quick phone call to my sister who wears contacts and she informed me to get samples of different contacts (which Dr. Ciampa didn't have) because we might realize my son might not like the brand he carries for his eyes or might find another brand more comfortable. When we showed less interest in buying and had our own questions Dr. Ciampa got very upset. At one point he raised his voice, was clearly angry and standoffish, all of which looked like he was trying to intimidate and bully me. I asked if I could have a pair of contacts to make sure they worked well for my son. He advised me he could not have a pair for free. The receptionist told me that for $50.00 they can give us a sit down session and show my son how to apply contacts. Mind you, a box of contacts will cost about $45.00. I agreed only because I knew this was the only way my son could learn to put on contacts ( I did not get a box of contacts by the way included). While doing the sit down session, Dr. Ciampa entered the room as if nothing had happened and shook my hand (???). The try-on table in the room was not sanitary at all. It was dusty with dirty bowls and water marks on it, and there were used paper napkins, and trash too. Since the contact came in an individually sealed small package, and they did have hand soap available, I was not to concern about him getting an eye infection while trying to put on contacts, only for that reason. I left his office knowing I will NEVER return again. He gave me a hard time about giving me a prescription for contacts so I can buy them somewhere else. It was only for "two refills". Normally, doctors will give it to you for ONE YEAR. I took the prescription to another optometrist, who charged me $30.00 for an eye exam and gave us SEVERAL, yes SEVERAL brands of eye contacts for FREE, and it was explained to us that is the way it should be done. Each brand is different and fits different on your eye, and has different moisture to it as well. They even gave him colored contacts for fun. Costco worked great for us for this reason. Dr. Ciampa was also upset to see that his employee had opened a pair of contacts to try on themselves and give my son a better example of how to put them on! We also got a new prescription for a WHOLE YEAR from this new optometrist at Costco at no extra charge and was nice enough to allow us to ask as many questions and show my son how to put on contacts. Nobody should have to be bullied into buying something they don't want, or given less than adequate service for their money. This man's business ethics and his behavior are unacceptable. Don't waste your money and time coming to Dr. Christopher Ciampa in Norwalk. Go somewhere where they will actually treat and see you as the patient and client you are. read more
