I am writing this review on behalf of my 22 yr old sister, who I assisted during this appointment /…read moreprocess. I can't stress enough to double , triple check your Medical / Insurance benefits before coming to this particular optometrist. I called Medical before scheduling an appt at this office to confirm what Medical covered for Optometry services. I was told the annual exam, frames etc etc. I then call VSP and confirm benefits as well. I found this office through the VSP Website. I called and provided the medical information and was told they did assist with her type of coverage. So we arrive to the appointment 20 mins late and they still take my sister in which I truly appreciate. I was told I could wait for my sister in the waiting area right next to the exam rooms which I also thought was nice because I have a toddler and truth be told they can be a handful near frames. As soon as my sister comes out she is told by Aurora that her Medical does not cover frames because she's over 21. I never thought about the age factor and believed Aurora. So my sister picks all sorts of frames that Aurora kindly helps her to pick out and my sister sits down and Aurora starts giving us the breakdown of the last pair my sister likes which was an off brand frame (Dragon) The total comes out to $516. My sister is on the higher side of astigmatism so I don't doubt automatically paying the full amount for her since I know my sister has no job and medical doesn't cover. I come home and review the medical information and indeed frames are covered but still doubting myself I call Medical and they confirmed benefits through VSP. I call VSP again and they confirm Adult Benefits for my sister as well as frame coverage. Now I'm upset and call the Optometry. I communicate to Aurora that frames are indeed covered. Aurora tells me she ran my sisters benefits and it showed frames weren't covered but that she would call VSP and confirm. Aurora calls me back and confirms coverage and tells me that Medical covers very basic frames with no upgrades of what the optometrist recommended. Aurora reminds me that there are No Cancellations for the $516.00 because everything is submitted electronically. At this point I stated there has to be some type of cancellation because it is unfair to a Medical recipient to be told there is no coverage when in reality there is. I asked that she speak to her manager and if there was a difference to be paid for the upgrades I'd be more than willing to pay for it. Again she insisted my sister could get the Medical pair as the 2nd pair and avoided the cancellation topic. Aurora tells me she will speak to her manager and call me back. The manager Patricia calls my sisters phone back within 10-15 minutes and explains the same scenario.... They will provide the Medical pair as the second pair and the glasses that are paid for will arrive on Tuesday therefore the cancellation option was avoided as well. I was in the restroom when my sister tells me about this response and I call the office back with an upset tone of voice . I asked Patricia to do the right thing and reimburse the money and provide the Medical authorized frames. Patricia tells me all the differences and the longer waiting period and of course I immediately state that's not a problem. Patricia asks if we would like to head back to the optometrist and choose the authorized frames. We agreed to a 1:45 appt. I arrive with my sister and we are assisted by Aurora who shows my sister the Medical options. Aurora tells me that this situation was not their fault and that it was Medicals fault not quite sure why I needed to know this when all I asked for was a fair decision. She stated the manager felt really bad and wanted to Offer the cancellation or a $60 discount on top of the second pair of frames covered by medical. I asked for a full cancellation and my sister didn't like the Medical option so we opted for the prescription to go elsewhere. The cancellation was processed. I leave the place feeling relieved and stay in the parking lot searching for other Optometry locations for my sisters glasses. I call another place and they kindly ask that this optometrist office release the authorization for frames and lenses. I walk back in to the location and see Aurora, I ask if she can release the authorization and she said I could call VSP and speak to whoever I was speaking to because there were no benefits used. Aurora then tells me the lady can call VSP. I step out and took care of business elsewhere. This is my experience, definitely don't recommend them.
