In town visiting from Austin. Wanted a good old fashion burger. Heard about this place and decided to try it out. Wow! Ordered a Red Raider burger which is a double meat cheese burger. It was incredible, hot, fresh, and tasty. Ordered tots and they were fried perfectly. The portion was huge. It had lettuce, tomato's, pickles, and onions. You can obv customize it to your liking. It's hard to find true old fashion burgers. This hidden gem is worth every penny. They offer a variety of foods. Different burger options, gyros, chicken strips, etc. They do have indoor seating but it is small. About 10 tables or so. The tables are the old style picnic tables. Bathroom was modern and very clean. Will definitely be back! This is a must try! read more

The christaki burger, get it. Pastrami, Swiss, beef. You'll want to eat it forever. They have really quick service, the place is always impeccable, and you get good old Lubbock hospitality. This place is delicious, though it doesn't look like much. I really liked the burger it reminded me of the ones I used to eat with my uncle when I lived in Louisiana. It was way bigger than I expected, which was a great surprise. I didn't really care for the fries, I usually don't like ketchup but these fries needed a little something to make them taste better. All in all I would definitely recommend coming here to try their burgers. I also really liked the Tech decor they had inside. read more

Cozy little place, extremely friendly staff, and food that will probably keep you coming back... you'll have a craving for sure! You can either order to dine-in or to-go, or even with the drive-thru. Decor is die-hard Texas Tech. Booths are a bit snug, but that's probably cause I ate too much... I had the chicken fried steak dinner, comes with a mini salad, fries, toast, and gravy. Drink is extra. Steak portion is about half the size of a dinner plate with a heap of white gravy to drown it in (which I like), salad is maybe the size of a toddler's closed fist, and the fries are of a generous portion (to help you mop up that gravy if the toast didn't cut it). If you ordered a burger, the fries come wrapped in a paper pouch. Sweet tea is great, so don't be afraid to ask for a refill at the counter. Covered parking is a nice touch. When it rains, it does pour sometimes! read more

First and last visit. Absolute trash ass service. Lady gave me the wrong change and I corrected her as she was 40 cents short. Instead of apologizing she told me in a rude tone "didnt know we were counting pennies." If she did that to 100 customers in a day she would walk out with 40 bucks from shorting people. Passing through Lubbock on our way back to Austin and found this gem. Truly one of those hole-in-wall places that makes incredible food. The burgers are cooked-to-order fresh, massive, and delicious. I ordered the Christaki burger...a classic American burger with a twist: topped with pastrami and Swiss. The pastrami is roasted and sliced in house. So good! My husband ordered the Red Raider, a double meat, double cheese and he almost couldn't finish it, it was so big. The toppings - onion, tomato, lettuce and pickles - were fresh and delicious. The onion rings were unavailable so we ordered the fries and we weren't disappointed. Super flavorful and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this classic burger joint! Christakis, IMHO, is one of the best burgers in town. The taste is reminiscent of the car hop drive-ins of the fifties. The meat patties fill the bun and they put an adequate amount of veggies on them Their fries are great, as well. The drinks are served with shaved ice, which we enjoy. I would have given 5 stars to Christakis if it weren't for two things: Their booths are too small, cramped and uncomfortable for larger than average sized people. Attention foodies: this is the best burger in town! A car salesman recommend this place to us. He drives all the way from S Loop every day to eat lunch here. We asked where there was a good burger in town and he trailed off daydreaming about this place. First off, it's family owned and operated, therefore the staff is great and happy to be there. The décor is all Texas Tech University memorabilia. The restraurant itself is tiny but the dining area is clean and so are the restrooms. The food: Best burger in town! I said it again. My dad believes that the inside of the burger bun should be toasted/grilled to keep the crunchy texture and to keep the patty from sliding off. They do this here. Their fries are the old "fatty" cut, not that thin shoestring! I like to taste my potato. They wrap them in a unique style that keeps the fries crispy when you are done with your burger. Need I say more than crispy large burger and crispy fat fries, good service with people who remember you when you come back? Sold! read more

We were on a trip returning to San Antonio from Colorado. It was around 8:15pm on a friday night and we were hungry. I decided to come here because of the positive reviews. When we drove up my wife gave me a look like "what the..." I said "Trust me." her face was not too happy because it was a tiny out of the way place and I think she wanted to go to a bigger place. After my wife took her first bite, she exclaimed,"Thank God we are back in Texas!" (the food in Colorado pretty much sucked... No wonder everyone was skinny). I had the catfish, she had a footling chilli cheese hot dog, and my father had the chicken fried steak. The food was fantastic and will definitely give us the strength to drive another 6 hours back home throughout the night. I highly recommend to anyone driving through. I always Yelp when I'm traveling and have never been led astray....until now. I had a fish sandwich with tots and my companion had a club sandwich with onion rings. Both just barely average - tots and rings what you could buy frozen and fix at home. . The reason I gave 2 stars instead of an average 3? The bathroom was nasty, with pee standing in the urinal (it's a co-ed bathroom), and the place itself is dumpy. If this is what a 4.5 star restaurant is in Lubbock, I'll pass by next time! read more

I've been meaning to try Christaki's for a while now, but just got the chance last Saturday. It was great! One of the best burgers I've had in Lubbock. The burger was obviously cooked to order and the cheese was nice and melted and the veggies were fresh. Their fries were piping hot and tasted like they are made in house, but I didn't ask. They had just the right amount of crispiness and weren't over salted. The amount of food and quality you get for the price is excellent. You'd spend about the same $ at any national burger chain, but you wouldn't get anything half this good! This burger reminded me of what burgers tasted like when I was a little kid and we went to a diner or somewhere. I'm sure the food at Christaki's tastes the same as a burger place from 50-60 years ago, and that makes me happy! read more

This was quite possibly the best basic burger I have ever eaten. I say "basic" because I have enjoyed other, more "exotic" burgers more (e.g. Vortex in Atlanta), but I've never enjoyed the simple combination of ground beef, bacon, and a bun more than this. The bun might be the best part - it's buttery and, I think, cooked on the griddle (or maybe toasted). The flavor was perfect. My wife had the Christaskis Burger, and it taught me that my life had been incomplete without pastrami on my burgers. Also, it doesn't hurt that it's dirt cheap. read more

Very good burgers at decent prices. In my party of 2 we ordered the chicken strip dinner, cheese tater tots, and the chili cheese burger. The burger was VERY good, with what seemed to be homemade chili, onions, pickles, cheese, and mustard, no fries included. The chicken strips had a good breading, but had a slight taste of fish (I assume they are cooked in the same fryer as the fish). Our cheese tater tots were fine, with a nacho cheese sauce on top. We were charged $1.08 for a small side of ranch, and lemonade has been removed from the menu for some reason. We are excited to return very soon to try out some of the other menu items. read more

I got the hamburger special with cheese ( comes with a medium drink and fries) Fries definitely could have been cooked longer but I love that the ice in the drink was almost like drinking a slushy. The burger had just the right amount of char from the grill but still juices. I know pickles are not for everyone but I love that they come standard! The burgers were excellent, but what else would you expect from Texas burgers. Mustard, veggies, cooked right, melted cheese just perfect, and don't forget to toast the bun. These things, they did perfect, but so does my mom or dad, depending on whole is cooking. Everything else, well leave that to the Schwan man, because he delivered that and they just warmed it up. I'll go back for the burgers and just order an ice water, beyond that, there's nothing special about this place. read more
