I came here based on recommendations that this is the best pizza in Lubbock, and if that's the case, that's honestly disappointing. Girl at the counter inspects my hologram new version hundred dollar bill then takes it around to the back and has another guy hold it up to the light and point at all the reasons it's not fake. There were zero clean tables. Floor had food crumbs and trash. Had to ask someone to clean our table and booth seat. Vast majority of napkin dispensers were empty. Go here every year for my Birthday. Hubs takes me for the nostalgia. Grew up in Albuquerque and this was a staple in our lives.

We read a couple weeks ago that Dion's had great salads so we decided to try it today! Chef for me, and Cesar for the daughter. We ordered the full size. And after eating a good amount, they looked like we hadn't even put a dent in them! Yea for leftovers! Also, I had the Green Chile Ranch which was amazing! My daughter noticed that they had individual bottles of it for sale, and she bought me a bottle to bring home. I'll admit I'm a little biased when it comes to Dions. I grew up in Albuquerque where this chain is from and they are the go to pizza place there. We were in Lubbock touring Texas Tech for my daughter and I was psyched to see there was a Dions! I didn't realize they had crossed state lines into Texas. Everyone loves their pizza, but I think their salads are where it's at. I can confidently say they are the best salads I've ever had. The chef is amazing, but I'm truly a sucker for their chicken pecan which they patiently allow me to completely customize. Most importantly they have the BEST ranch in the world! I love that they sell it by the bottle which I happily buy to take home every opportunity I get. Kids will enjoy being able to step up and watch the pizzas being made. I only wish their decor was updated as it has looked the same for as long as I can remember. If you're in a hurry, you can always call your order in and order online to either pick up in their drive thru or eat inside. My only question, is when can we get a Dions in El Paso? read more

And with that being said let's get into the review DELIVERY AND PRICING: estimated ETA of 42 min came in at an actual 57 min. Also one of the more expensive pizzas we have gotten. Usually we are paying $17 for a large specialty and with these we went up to $20..pizza was not hot not cold. PIZZAS: THE CARNIVORE; the Carnivore pizza had good flavor. Plentiful in the meat department. Nice even distribution of ingredients, each bite equal as the last., but nothing really stood out like Kylie Jenner in season 1-3 of the Kardashians. Also the amount of oil at the bottom of the box reminded me of my 1980 Malibu Classic 2 door. The sausage on the pizza had a texture I can easily describe as escargot. If you've never had escargot, then possibly a vegan shrimp was what it closest resembled. Other than that the pie did it's duty. THE SPECIAL: the thing that popped the flavor off the most was the green Chile for sure.. now personally I love green Chile on practically anything so I dont want my opinions to seem biased. But excellent flavor. Also there was a certain spice or herb that gave the special a certain JE NE SAIS QUOI... Definitely cleaned the box off sooner than most.. like I said that intro of green Chile brought something new to the table. FINAL THOUGHT: Overall a bit pricy for what we got, nothing stood out enough for me to say " that was worth the extra $3" the dough under the ingredients was enough for a simple head nod, the crust did burn a few calories with the amount of chewing required to get it down. Other than that, for the price listed, I don't think I'll be ordering it again anytime soon considering other pizza venues in town, it's a pizza I'd probably buy for friends if it were $2 cheaper and they help me move furniture, but definitely not a football Sunday pizza. I am very familiar with Dion's in their Albuquerque roots. What makes Dion's so exceptional is the New Mexican green chili. If you are not familiar with New Mexican green chili, it is like no other pepper. They come in mild, medium and hot. Generally, Dion's uses medium. They are diced and have a similar heat to a medium hot jalapeño but much tastier and no after burn or residual taste. These peppers are the Swiss Hunting Knife to culinary favor! At Dion's you can order a pizza or just a slice. The slice is made to order. You don't have limited choices. The pizza crust is exceptional. When I am passing through, I also take two of their pizza crusts to go. They are frozen and cost just $4. Take them home and put them in your freezer. They are wonderful! Unlike the Albuquerque Dion's, Lubbock's has a lunch special of two slices with two toppings and a drink for $4.95. We took a trip from Fort Worth to Lubbock last month. In the four days there, we ate at Dion's three times. That's a restaurant that gets five stars! By the way, they have their own line of dressings you can buy too. The turkey subs with Greek Dressing; their chicken Caesar salad with Dion's Caesar dressing or their various other products live up to their name and are exceptional. read more

My family has pizza from here every other week we like it so much. The picture attached is the 2 Slice Deal they have for lunch, 2 toppings each, for $7 and some change, drink included. That's a hard price to beat for the amount and quality of food. Good place to get lunch or dinner with your friends. The pizza is great and good sizes to share with multiple people. The staff is also very sweet when taking your order. The food does take a while to get out but if you order pizza it's because they make it fresh after you ordering it! Today I tried to order a pizza in the drive through. I have a boot on my foot and it is hard to get in and out of places. When I went to the window, they would NOT take my order because "they just don't do that." I didn't expect to sit in the drive through and wait for the pizza, I just wanted to order it and come back. Since they wouldn't take my order, I pulled into their parking lot and ordered from my phone. They will gladly take my order over the phone, but won't take my order face to face in the drive through. This location is going downhill fast. Went a few weeks ago, it was decent. Tonight was awful. For starters the place was dirty. Tables and chairs covered in food, overflowing trash, it was gross. We found a clean one. We ordered pizza, cooked light. 20 minutes they said. Ten minutes in the cops were in the lot talking to an employee. This required all remaining employees to stare out the window, point, talk, anything but work. I said to my family we're getting burnt pizza. 30 minutes after we ordered we were called up, to a burnt, black pizza. They "offered" to make a new one, ten minutes. The second pizza was cooked right, after 15 minutes. There didn't seem to be a manager on duty. read more

This is my favorite pizza in Lubbock! I recommend the Napoli or the Santorini. The salad and house dressing are also excellent. They also have lunch specials, either 2 slices and a drink or 1 slice, salad, and a drink. It's made pretty quickly making it perfect for a workday lunch break. read more
