This was hard to rate and I will say to at least give it a try. You can tell they put a lot of heart and thought into their food but I really had a hard time getting over the price. I got the chicken club with tots. The club had bacon that was carmelized with coke a cola, ham, arugula and they didn't skimp on the chicken breast but the chicken was cold even though the bread was grilled so it was a bit confusing. But then again.... guys my size don't belong on road cycles either. I've only been here once (so far), but I plan to return at least twice more - given the foodstuffs I was curious about. This trip saw me take down the Mac & cheese bites, a burger with the aforementioned gross cheese on it, and some spinachy/veggie and rice dish. ALL were yummy and worth having again. The service here was spectacular, the interior was cozy and nice, the prices were fitting for the quality of food you get, and the flavor was begging of another visit. I saw at least two other items on the menu that I've got to try. I didn't know chow existed before this visit, nor how long they've been in business. My husband and I started with the mac & cheese balls. They were lightly beaded, cheesy goodness. We both felt that if we'd added a salad then that would have been a perfect meal. I ordered the PB&J burger. The flavorful burger wowed me! I never thought I'd like the combo of peanut butter, onion jam, bacon, and chips on a burger. I highly recommend it. My husband had the jambalaya that was not an ordinary jambalaya. This came with shrimp, crab, and their delicious bacon. There was more than enough left over to take home. The chef does seem to have a heavy hand when it comes to using cumin, but again the food is well worth the trip. My go to is the yard bird, smothered and covered. Chicken in a tasty sauce, over argugala and crispy shoe string fries. They also have a monte cristo kind of sandwich that is messy but tasty. If you want to really let go, and can afford it, the wolverine will be right up your alley. More food than any one person could eat in one sitting. read more

Definitely not the case here. Me and my boyfriend came to this restaurant during a 115 degree heat wave to get away from the sun. Once inside we were welcomed into the eatery by attentive staff that was helpful with helping us pick our beers and entrees. Both the "Bert n Ernie" and the "Ruthy Melt" were some of the best sliders and melts we have ever had. In addition to the food the establishment was very clean and we could actually see the kitchen staff work on our meals which was a plus. The menu was quite extensive with a lot of different options but I can say the two we chose were excellent. Would definitely come again not during a heat wave and enjoy one of their on tap bears on the deck. read more

Booked a room in Springfield for a few days to escape the power outage in Salem. This place looked decent for dinner. An $18 burger damn well better be worth it. Well.... it is! I had the Fondue Stacker Burger and the wife had the PB&J. We both appreciated the variety of textures and flavors. That jalapeño fondue sauce was the bomb. Well, before I share my honest experience, the server was a delightful person and was hospitable. I ordered a club sandwich to go. The server said it was a hot sandwich, not cold and even substituted the tots for soup. Si, I get back to work, literally a few blocks away, with my food; i open it and inside is a like a marinara sandwich with slices of ice cold chicken and fatty bacon and cold, once melted cheddar. In addition, was metal restaurant utensils inside the box. This looked like a a practical joke! Now, I don't know if toys is Chow's Club Sandwich, if so, they need to do some taste testing, because marinara, chicken and caramelized bacon with cheddar taste like doodie together. Save us all from this atrocious combination. I'm in no way exaggerating the condition or contents of the food, btw. This beer cheese soup should be called "Cold Cream of Pepper soup". And the sandwich, "Reconstructed Leftovers Sandwich on Potato Bread" for that's EXACTLY what it tasted like. Did I mention they put their metal restaurant utentils with my to go order? And that everything was cold? The owner and the manager need to reevaluate.I have been here 4 times. 3 out of 4, something really strange happened with the food and/or communication with the kitchen vs servers. Previously, one time in for lunch, I and my friend ordered a large basket of fries and the server came with a little cup size. We politely asked, "is this the typical amount?" He actually said no! And then proceeded to say that the cook was in a bad mood...and that's all he said! So, if you're kitchen staff are having a bad day, it's okay to change the sizes? And it's ok to put that on customers? And as a server, it's ok to make excuses for the cook's bad attitude without any effort to keep the standard? I mean, c'mon! This would be the best restaurant for Chef Gordon Ramsey to visit. Man, do they need it. Moral of the story, check the damn to go bag before you even swipe that card! I have been here twice now, while visiting a friend, and holy cow the food is amazing! Do yourself a favor and eat here. The bartender was great, attentive and helpful without being pushy. He was even willing to make a modified German chocolate cake shot for me without any guff. I have had two different burgers while here, the Big Mamma in a lettuce wrap and the B.a.B. in a lettuce wrap (due to being gluten intolerant). Both burgers were mouth watering and messy! Just the way I like my burgers. The loaded tots are definitely the way to go. Both times, the burgers were super filling and I had to take my tots to go, which was no problem. Springfield doesn't get much love as a destination hot spot. It used to be the only things you could find there were sawmills and strip clubs. This place has some rave reviews, however, so in our never-ending quest for foodie satiety, DLW and I scoped out Chow for a Friday night date. It's attached to Moe's Tavern (no Homer or Barney in sight) in a routine strip mall right on the main drag. Inside it's nothing fancy either, about 40 seats which were mostly filled when we arrived. The waitress was training a new server, who trailed her around and helped with running food. Both were unfailingly courteous, and the waitress knew the menu thoroughly, a pleasant surprise considering the spacey service we so often see in restaurants around here. Their specialty is bacon, which they include on many dishes, including DLW's piggy salad. It was absolutely loaded with candied bacon, and included a zingy dressing plus extra dressing on the side. Definitely not diet food, but delicious. I had a burger special, which came with arugula and fig jam. Burgers are good generally, but this one was special, one of the best I've had. Zucchini fries were batter-dipped and served crisp and hot with a dipping sauce just like the salad dressing. Beer selection is not enormous but interesting and with good variety. DLW absolutely loved the blackberry cider they had on tap. Everything was good quality, and the prices are in line with that, so don't go expecting a cheap night out. Do go expecting an enjoyable meal. It's the best burger experience I've had in Eugene/Springfield. read more
