This place cannot stay consistent in quality from their kitchen. I tried to be quiet about the hit and miss orders but today, leap day, our anniversary; y'all are on the list. No one has time to travel back to the restaurant to make sure it's right every visit. The only consistency the is place keeps up is burning their sauces. If it's brown sauce, it's a chance that it has a burnt aftertaste. The shrimp and broccoli and the egg foo young was not up to par. No one requested a burnt aftertaste after eating their main course. The request for a tip before pick up just proved to me why it's a grift for paying more for below par traditional Asian cuisine. I loved this place for over ten years but it's time for someone to step up and start managing Chopstix Gourmet again. Each time I go for sushi , it always takes forever to figure out what I want.. This time was no different. I ordered the Chicken lettuce wraps and the Volcano roll. My sister ordered the tempura shrimp roll and the Chopstix roll. All of it was very fresh. The Volcano roll was delicious. I would definitely order again. The service was very good. We've been ordering here for awhile and it's never been great but since it is the only close place I can get sushi while my husband gets Chinese, we keep returning. That has changed I ordered the Special Tempura Roll and the Volcano Roll. First of all I don't understand the almost $4 difference in the price. They were almost identical. Maybe I paid for a piece of jumbo lump crab meat that I don't really think was in there. I have never seen tuna or salmon look like this. It seemed to be out of a can and tasted like it too. See my picture. My husband ordered General Tso's Chicken and Shrimp Toast. The chicken was completely over cooked and flavorless. Even my 11 year old daughter said it had no taste. The shrimp toast was so greasy it was leaking through the bag. I also was told my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes and I got there in 25 knowing how Friday nights are. I still waited 10 minutes for my order. From past experience, if you like sushi, don't order the dynamite or honeygo rolls. They are terrible. However I enjoyed the Baltimore and Phoenix rolls. You pick one of many entrees and it comes with two options of rice, your choice of three soups and either a spring roll or egg roll from 9.99 on up to 13.99. It's a lot of food. Leftovers are an added bonus. The wonton soup is the best I ever had. Normally that soup is inundated with salt. Not at this fine establishment. It's perfectly seasoned with not one but two wontons filled with chicken meat. The sesame chicken is not too sweet and the sesame has a nice aromatic flavor. The broccoli is steamed perfectly and has a nice crunch. The whole meal was enjoyable. I almost forgot to praise the restaurant staff. We got seated right away and we were given an option of separate checks. We had so many requests for our server who was so patient with us. I can't stop coming back to this place ever since I discovered it a few years ago. While I've been to quite a few different sushi spots, I keep coming back to compare and find Chopstix to have the widest variety of and tastiest sushi options. Plus as a big bonus, staff has always been speedy with orders and polite whenever I visited. I always start with their special 'Sweet Dream' roll, a combination of tempura shrimp, coconut flakes, mango, and strawberry sauce. It's essentially a dessert roll with its sweet notes. I won't lie - this sushi roll is one of the reasons I keep coming back - so, so good!! Today I decided to try their new special 'Mermaid' roll. I'm not sure if it's seasonal/temporary or not as it was written on a whiteboard, but it was really great. There was just a hint of heat, and while I don't normally like spicy sushi, the spicy sauce was subtle enough and actually mixed well with the rest of the sauce (looked like 2 suaces were used and mixed together). Other ingredients like eel and avocado rounded out the taste, too, to create what I found to be delicious. Lastly I ordered a bowl of edamame - the bowl was huge! Definitely will get your money's worth if you enjoy simple, fresh edamame. My partner got his usual favorites, salmon sushi and BBQ beef skewers. I've shared the skewers in the past with him - both the meat itself and bbq sauce were great. We've never had any problems with eating raw sushi at this place. It's a great dinner spot to go to on a date night before the movies. The food and service here are superb. The quality of their food and sushi is unmatched. It's also a BYOB restaurant and there is a huge liquor store right on the corner. They are very fairly priced for the amount of food that you get. My ONLY complaint is that I wish the size of the restaurant was a little bit bigger. It definitely has some maneuverability issues when they are packed. One of my friends lives out in White Marsh, sometimes when we meet for dinner, I need to venture out to her neck of the woods. For dinner one night, I was craving sushi while other friends wanted Chinese and someone suggested Chopstix which is right across the street from one of my other favorite places in Baltimore County, R&R Taqueria. We started with appetizers, one of my friends ordered the Chicken and Corn Soup, which was equivalent to an egg drop soup. The soup came out warm which was perfect on the cold night we were having. My friend really loved the creaminess of the soup and the addition of the corn. Another friend ordered Vegetable Egg Rolls as her starter. The egg rolls weren't overly greasy and were filled with plenty of fresh shredded veggies. For my starter, I went with the Hot and Sour Soup. Given that this item had a spicy chili next to it on the menu, I was expecting some heat. Unfortunately, this dish was not spicy at all, however it was still delicious. The broth was a little thick and the soup was filled with plenty of veggies. For our meals, my friends decided to go with Chinese options. One of my friends ordered Steamed Shrimp with Garden Vegetables. This dish came with a side of brown sauce to toss the shrimp and veggies in. My friend said every component of the dish was incredibly fresh and she would order it again. My other friend ordered Chicken and Stringbeans. This item had a hot pepper next to it on the menu, however it also wasn't particularly spicy. The dish was really good, but there was nothing particular special about it. I've had this dish at plenty of other Asian restaurants. I decided to try the sushi at Chopstix. I went with my favorite, a Spicy Tuna Roll with Avocado. We've been to this location 3 times now and we all really like it there . We usually rely on Kobe for our sushi fix but I found that the prices here are a bit cheaper and they offer a bigger selection than kobe . As far as what you can get here there is a big selection and something for everyone. I'm a big fan of their shrimp egg rolls, miso soup and their sushi. My daughter loves their chicken wonton soup and my husband is a fan of everything that he's eaten so far lol . Tonight I had the sweet dreams roll , I'm such a fan of the sweeter sushi and this had all of my favorite elements and it was pink ! Totally a win win lol , the inside was a coconut shrimp and mago wrapped with rice and pink rice paper , the top had a line of strawberry sauce. All of these flavors together were so so good but it is a small roll , I wish it were a bit bigger for the price but it's not horrible. I've also been stuck on the shrimp tempura handroll, I just really like handrolls, especially with something that's crunchy like this . Their tempura is really crunchy also . The miso soup is just the general miso that I love so much . I always get this soup before a meal because I find it helps keep me from going " sushi broke " ... if you love sushi you know exactly what I'm talking about lol . I just love the clean taste of this soup and the different textures. Their Japanese green salad is a very nice serving and I prefer the way they do it verses others . You still get that great orange ginger dressing that we all know and love but theirs isn't soupy and it mixes really well in their thicker lettuce, they don't just use a few bits of iceberg , it's a good amount of salad . The blackjack roll was really nice , it had spicy tuna , shrimp tempura (avacado I think ... this was last week's sushi meal) and black fish roe. It's a good choice if you don't like strong fish flavors . Spicy tuna roll was clean , it wasn't covered in the spicy mayo like some places do it , the fish was very mild and it was spiced nicely . Eel. ... well that's my husband's thing , I won't eat it lol . He said he liked it so we'll just go with that lol Shrimp lomein super meal , this was really a great deal ! My husband got this for lunch today and it came with soup , 2 crab wontons , 2 shrimp toast , a good size portion of shrimp lomein and a side of rice . No one left hungry! They do have a kids menu here and are pretty kids friendly as well , my daughter stays occupied with the crayons and coloring page on the back of the kids menu and she snacks on the crispy things they give you at the start . This is my new favorite place to go when I have a craving for Chinese /Japanese food . They also have another location that does Dim sum. .. Chopstix is one of my favorite places to go for sushi and Chinese food. They have great lunch combos and sushi platters that I highly recommend. The lunch combos are definitely the way to go because they come with rice (white or fried), choice of soup, and an egg or spring roll in addition to the main entree. They have awesome string beans with chicken (if you want something spicy) and you can never go wrong with beef and broccoli. They also have sushi lunch combos that have Chinese food paired with a sushi roll or all sushi. All the sushi combos come with miso soup and salad. I love their rainbow roll and they have a pretty good Baltimore roll also. On my most recent visit to Chopstix, two friends of mine and I split the Ocean Combination platter for two, but it was enough for the three of us. It came with two miso soups and all the sushi came out on an enormous boat. It looked really great and we ate it way faster than it took the chefs to make it. The place is BYOB, so head to the liquor store a few stores down and pick up something before you go. The waitress will gladly open the bottles for you and give you glasses for the drinks. read more

We brought our own bottle of wine (restaurant is BYOB -- with a liquor store nearly next door) and Chopstix provided wine glasses and offered an ice bucket. We were served little chips and dipping sauce. We ordered fried pork dumplings as a starter and then ordered a few roles of sushi. My sushi (shrimp tempura), in particular, wasn't all that good. The shrimp tasted like it was cooked earlier in the day and then reheated; chewy. The service was pleasant and attentive. Not only do they have a large selection of common maki rolls and fresh fish, they have a few unique specialty rolls and combos available. If sushi is not your thing, try the Chinese and Japanese entrees, there are a ton to choose from and gourmet is right...this isn't like some strip mall Chinese place. The management and staff are great, helpful and efficient. The same group seems to have been here since it opened a few years ago. The place is decorated nicely with traditional Chinese and Japanese accents. Bring your own alcohol, they do not have a license to serve and don't think they want one.
