After reading the reviews, we had to try them again. We were here before I began writing for Yelp, about 4 years ago. Walking in, we saw a huge, clear plastic barrier side to side and most of the way to the ceiling, and i wondered why. It looks awful and is off-putting, which is what restaurants do not want. You order through a small gap in the plastic. I ordered the Japanese chicken noodle soup, and it arrived piping hot. After it cooled a bit, i tried the broth and IMO it lacked flavor. The chicken breast in it was very tender, and the baby boy Choi did not really seem to complement the soup. Also, I ordered a shrimp egg roll, yup, you guessed, right. It was all cabbage and 1 shrimp, only 1 of the tiniest shrimp I've ever seen and very greasy. It was disappointing. My husband ordered the shrimp and chicken on fried rice ( the man working there said this is their most popular dish). What arrived was only shrimp on the fried rice and no chicken. It was ok, a bit on the sweet side. Generous serving. Generally speaking, the menu is limited, and that is good when you can expect what they do being done well. I would much rather have it that way instead of a restaurant that has lots and lots, meaning quality vs. quantity. In this visit, the quality was off for my portion of the meal. This is a great option for quick, cheap eats. I paid $10 tofu, rice, and extra veggies. I think I paid about $11 for my son's chicken, rice, and veggies. You can't beat the price and quantity. I did have to add sriracha and yum yum sauce at home because I like my food spicy but overall, it's a solid choice for fast food as compared to other drive-thru options. I called in an order ONE MINUTE before closing (8:59p) and my food was ready within about 5-7 minutes. Apparently you can't get a receipt from this place for some reason. I think they said the machine was down. Either way, you can't beat it. Parking was easy, free, and readily available in front of the building. read more

Ordered the chicken and shrimp Teriyaki today through GrubHub. It arrived quickly especially given the distance. Also added a shrimp egg roll which was outstanding. Definitely worth the $1.60 extra My main dish was full of chicken and an ok amount of shrimp and overall very tasty and a good deal for the money. Definitely couldn't eat it all. ONE ISSUE....Believe it or not they did not send any yum yum sauce? Who does that with this kind of food? Come to find out you have to request it for $1 more. I don't mind the 14 but wish I knew that when ordering as I was very sad when I realised it was missing. read more

This was my first time trying this place , I was just in a mood for Chinese or whatever and I found it. Wasn't busy when I got there, order was ready around 10mins. I wouldn't say that Sakura Teppanyaki was the best hibachi Togo that I have had. I ordered a steak and chicken combo with a maki roll. I think the maki roll got confused with a vegetable spring roll. Do not waste your time or money. It is aggressively mediocre. I should've dug deeper into the reviews so that I would've seen the warning signs. Off-brand Japanese or Chinese food in the mall is easily better. I ordered salmon teriyaki. It was the worst grade of salmon you can possible find (the super cheap, thin, frozen fillets). I nearly walked out as soon as I walked in, but I was SUPER hungry. In hindsight I would've been much better served to eat at Chik-Fil-A or Subway nearby. I imagine chicken teriyaki or shrimp & broccoli probably aren't as bad. I'm seriously questioning the validity of previous reviews. About once a year, the Yelp community it gets it EXTREMELY wrong. We just stumbled upon this establishment after visiting Kohls. The chicken teriyaki was a little generic but definitely not bad. It was prepared quickly and hot! My son enjoyed his smoothie. The price was average. But the best part was the man at the counter. I would venture to say he might be the owner. He was just so pleasant and kind. Whenever my husband and I are in the area we always try to stop here for lunch. The owner is incredible and knows how to run a business! You can tell he really cares about his customers and his employees. He will always come out to shake your hand and speak with you and bag your food. No matter how slow or busy they are, he always makes time for you. He is always smiling and welcoming, it's hard not to be happy when you step in. He makes you feel like family. Very good! Nothing fancy, just good Teriyaki with vegetable and your choice of fried or steamed rice. I'd opt for the white rice, there's plenty of oil in this stuff. In fact, I'd beg that you ask for less oil. The portions are huge, delicious, and served steaming hot. It's basically a carry out with indoor seating. They are located right next to Target in the Martin Plaza Shopping Center. Ask for extra meat-- it's only a buck and some change. No sushi here, just a tight, small menu. Just got food from here. They tried to upsell me on the shrimp and I said no twice. I also asked for one egg roll. They charged me for two. The only good thing to say about the food was it was hot. The food was bland. I ate the first shrimp roll and it tasted like it had no shrimp so I got home and took the second shrimp roll cut it open and there were no shrimp in it. This place used to be good... idk wtf happened. First of all, they've upped the price & went down on the quality & size. Not to mention they sell "shrimp" egg rolls with NO SHRIMP. Located in the Martin Plaza shopping center in Middle River (between Target and Kohl's - closest to the Hair Cuttery and Payless), this sit-down or take-out restaurant is from the same people that have THE best Asian food in the White Marsh mall food court. Have you ever has fast food from the mall. Well that is 5 stars compared to the rubbery tasteless stuff here. This is the first time here and with 4.5 stars I expected to be in for a real treat. The only treat I got was a stomach ache, a bad poo and well maybe some extra time to write this review. It is one star cause you do gets lots of food. But lots of food does not make it good food. I've been to this location about half a dozen times since its open. I went there once and apparently on that strip there was a disturbed man who was going in and out of the shops there. He was asking about his dry cleaning and then attempted to spit. It seems he wanted to spit on me/ maybe even my food. But before this gentleman even has a chance the owner saw it and told him to get the hell out and escorted him out along with another of the workers there. The owner then asked if I was okay and that he was going to have someone walk me to my car. I told him i was fine but insisted that someone walk me to my car. The teriyaki chicken here is amazing. When I visit my mom I always make a point to come this way before heading home. It's my favorite teriyaki chicken and you don't have to go to busy White Marsh Mall to get it which makes it all the most better. They have fried rice, white rice and noodles you can get with this. In additional you can half & half it if you like. They are so flexible and so nice about it. They have other entrees like soup and some Chinese entrees. I've also had a great smoothie from this location. Every time they walk around the counter bag my food and open the door for me when I leave. Very nice service all around! Went here today for the first time. The restaurant had ample seating if you decided to eat and seemed quite clean. It was empty when I went in, but the staff was at the counter and ready to take my order. The women at the register was very friendly and took my order efficiently, my order was up and ready before I knew it! Which is excellent when your on a time crunch. But I love that the food is prepared right in front of you. Everything was really good, great service, great food. The only thing I was sad about was the limited menu. BUT! First of all the staff is fantastic, I know the person running it from sarku Japan in white marsh mall, when I walked in he greeted me as if he had seen me yesterday, he even walked out from behind the counter to give me a hug. The food is good, its the same kinda thing sarku Japan does but honestly its tastier and you don't have to go into the mall and stuff to get it so that's a plus. I just got teriyaki chicken with noodles today (and the price was good too, about the same as the mall) and it was all tasty and quickly prepared. Plenty of chicken but skimpy on the Shrimp and the fried rice was below Chinese restaurant quality. Everything was hot and tasty! When I stepped up I was greeted and I felt very comfortable in there. My husband took me here after we went shopping and we ordered the noodle soup with shrimp. For fast food this was so delicious and flavorful that I couldn't believe it. There was a hint of ginger in the soup base that was so satisfying. They give you about 8 huge, well cleaned shrimp and lots of baby bok choy. If you eat the soup there it comes in a beautiful black and red bowl with a ladle type spoon. This soup will warm your tummy and your soul! The menu has maybe ten items on it-tops and the restaurant style is similar to the Sarku Japan stand that you often see in mall food courts. The restaurant is located in the shopping center next to the Target and Kohls. I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with fried rice and no vegetables. The chicken I got was plentiful, while the amount of shrimp they gave me was a bit pitiful (the cook literally counted out the five pieces of shrimp). The fried rice appeared to have been cooked in a large vat earlier in the day, and it might have been nice to have it fried in front of me like they do at Sarku Japan. My gut told me no and I should have trusted it. Once again ANOTHER BONE in the chicken.
