Their pork fried rice is also good. The customer service from the woman is good, but the man that works their can be rude. The General Tso's chicken is good. A restaurant that fits all the musts of Chinese takeout: it's inexpensive, quick, well packed (they bag your food, and put it in a box to carry home), and a little greasy. It's in a shopping center next to a Food Lion and a liquor store, so it's in a pretty convenient location. Just so you know, the credit card minimum is $10. read more

Found another winner for General Tso's chicken. Yes, you read that right. They have it on the menu but it's with the specialty items rather than the poultry. I've had this dish from various restaurants and it can range from the very sweet end to the spicy end. This one is definitely on the sweeter side of things. I do miss the spicy kick but this one is worth switching it up. Depending on your taste buds, you may love it or hate it. Try and see for yourself. They were very quick on the order (carry out). China Chef is great and is our go to Chinese takeout spot. Their food is not only delicious and affordable, but comes in big portions as they make sure to pack the food in the container. I've tried many different dishes from here such as Sesame Chicken, Chicken & Broccoli, Fried Pork Wontons, Beef Lo Mein, and Wonton Soup. All of them are delicious and very flavorful. However, my favorite dish is their Pork Lo Mein, its so good! And of course I've had their Fried Chicken Wings, and its ridiculously good and addictive. There's sometimes where we'll get two order of Wings just so that my Husband and I won't fight over them, Lol. Their delivery is great; very fast and always on time. I was hesitant to order from this place based on the reviews but I'm glad I did. I ordered the dragon and Phoenix which is the general sos chicken and sweet and spicy shrimp. It was delicious! I was also happy that the fried rice was actually fried rice and not that yellow looking rice you get at other Chinese places. read more

Their service is always decent in my personal experience. The food takes a little while to cook so either call in advance or be patient. Cons: Sometimes when you order a chicken dish, some of the pieces are imitation chicken and not the real chicken. Only some of their dishes are good. The rest is mediocre or worse. Pros: Spare ribs are fatty and delicious. They have brown rice. The lady there is always very friendly and humble. Their Lo Mein is pretty good if you like greasy and oily, I like. Family owned business and whoever their delivery guy is, he always seems to be a douche. But they don't know that until a customer experiences the ordeal. read more

Ordered here for lunch with coworkers. Not only was the delivery super fast, but everything was nice and hot, and all orders were 100% accurate. Should've listened to the reviews. Went to the store, stood at the counter a good 5 mins before he actually came to the front, he never greeted me, answered the phone first, started to take the person's order then put them on hold, I was trying to tell him what I wanted but he was too busy speaking over me and yelling that I couldn't even get it out. I told him never mind and left. Horrible customer service! If you don't want customers, close your store so someone else with enough sense and customer service skills can open something in that location. I wouldn't trust someone to cook my food that doesn't even respect me as a patron. As a bonus, he just opened the store and his clothes were filthy so yea I probably dodged salmonella anyway. read more

I placed an order for delivery. Received the order and as I unpacked it, realized that one item I ordered was missing. They included something I don't like and didn't order. I called the restaurant to let them know about the error. The person on the phone kept telling me that I ordered something I didn't and refused to do an exchange. We went back and forth and still no resolution. I felt they should've at least exchanged the wrong item for what I did ACTUALLY order. I didn't feel that was alot to ask. I will NEVER order from this establishment again. To anyone that decides to order from this restaurant BEWARE: If they place your order over the phone, read it back to you, but then you receive it and something is wrong, they'll DENY IT and won't do anything to fix the issue. There's too many other restaurants in the area that have better customer service. You are the customer and don't have to put up with that. read more

I go to China chef at least every other week (I get cravings for their steamed shrimp dumplings!). The woman who works the counter is always very pleasant and kind..she has even taken the time to remember my name and my usual order. For the decor being not updated and the Chinese-takeout-shopping-strip feel the place is clean and you can see your food being cooked. I've never had a bad experience with anything I have ordered. Hunan dishes are great, the sauce is just spicy enough. I live right around the corner and plan to keeping this my go-to Chinese carry-out place! read more

Being that this place was the closest I sent my husband in for vegetable chow mein and they gave him mushy gross vegetables with NO noodles! So he went back and the lady says that vegetable chow mein comes with no noodles. Only the lo mein does. What!? I've been to at least 100 Chinese restaurants being a Chinese food obsessed person and I had never seen or heard of that happening before! I know that one is just softer cooked in a broth while they fry the chow mein in oil. He ended up ordering the chicken lo mein so that we could mix it and try to make it better but it was just disgusting. Definitely will not be back! And their chicken was weirdly gross. One time was enough for us. Also my husband ate the chicken and threw up the Chinese food this morning. read more

When ordering for delivery, be sure if paying a tip using cash, that you cross out the tip section and write the total (I normally do this, but didnt on this occasion). The driver decided to tip himself on top of the cash tip! Besides that incident, the food is normally hot, fresh and tasty. We used to love China Chef. Their food was wonderful. But within the last 2 years we noticed a decline in the service. Both the quality of food as well as delivery issues have caused us to change our business to a different place. My biggest gripes recently are the General Tso sauce and the quality of the eggrolls. The General Tso sauce was always my favorite but over a year ago it seems like the sauce they were serving was very bland. I made it a point to ask them to make it spicier when I ordered it since, but that only works a fraction of the time. Also, the eggrolls used to have a delicious flavor, but now the filling taste like nothing but peppered cabbage. read more

We have ordered here in the past, and the food was decent. However, recently it was so horrible that I had to jump on Yelp to warn others. First, the person taking the order by phone couldn't understand where our address was (not sure why someone taking delivery orders would have such poor communication skills) so my husband had to pick the food up. The order included General Tso and Hunan Chicken, with fried rice. The "chicken" meat was questionable, and tasted like rubber. The fried rice was a greasy mess. Worse service ever! I decided to order take out from this restaurant. Bad idea! When I called to place my order the man who answered the phone would not allow me to spell out my address/street name he just rushed me to take my order. Then an hour later when the food never came, I called the restaurant to check the status of my order. The man who answered yelled at me saying he doesn't know my address and and hung up the phone. When I called back he wouldn't even answer my call. This is at a place of business! Mind you I already paid in advance for the order. This is unacceptable on every level. I then spoke with the delivery driver who called me & said he never gave her my address which is crazy! She was very nice and told me she would be on the way. However, it's too bad that the man was so nasty that it left a horrible impression on me about this business. I will never order from here again and I suggest you save yourself the frustration. me and my family used to love getting carryout/delivery from here. but our last 4-5 experiences have just been terrible. the last one was the straw. i had a basic order. kids chicken nuggets and fries, chicken and broccoli dinner and a general tso dinner. the first issue was the guy taking my order was more concerned about the text messages he was getting than taking my order, second i waited over an hour with my 5 year old and 1 year old so anyone knows that after 20-25 minutes that became fun, next i am told my food will be ready in a few minutes which turned into 15 more. i finally receive my food and instead of nuggets they gave me wings(this is probably because he was on his phone and not paying attention) next i only had one egg roll when i should have 3. so i tell them i just want a refund and want to leave the guy looks at his phone and sends another text and ignores me with no apology. the lady who is supposed to give me the credit continues to take orders and ignores me as my son cries loudly ....i finally have to raise my tone and insist on getting my refund which she reluctantly does with once again no apology. just a terrible terrible experience. and on a non dining related note....the delivery driver feels his canary yellow car is so special he double parks out front where the customers should park. read more
