The renovation certainly worked as now the Restaurant is more inviting and elegant. The service is brisk albeit it lacks a Sommelier and with bottles at $4000 that is a huge oversight. Now to the food. Well presented but regrettably just average. Let's take the Clam chowder. Bland and the 4 clams in it just didn't do it and at the price it was mostly presentation over substance. The Faroe island salmon was blackened well but again bland. In addition the sweet Asian inspired sauce was floating in the plate. The jalapeno potatoes au gratin were covered with a huge dollop of cream...in what world does that happen? in addition the jalapeno was absent in the flavor section. So on balance great presentation, poor to middling execution and at those elevated prices the executive chef needs step in and review rather than spreading him/herself too thin. read more

This place just didn't deliver. I will say that the staff was very pleasant and quite friendly and the ambiance was fairly posh but unfortunately that is where the compliments stop. I ordered a glass of Riesling and it tasted cheap. I wasn't expecting the highest quality but at least something palatable. I shrugged it off hoping that the $180 my husband was about to spend on our meal would be worth it. Tragically that was not the case. I ordered the Chicago ribeye and it was extremely underwhelming. It was cooked medium well as I had requested however it was flavorless and the entire outside tasted burnt. I don't mean the usual "char" that you get on a good steak... it had a literal burnt/scorched taste that lingered long after I'd left the restaurant. The jalapeño potatoes au gratin was very plain and sounded better than the results actually delivered. My husband enjoyed the beef short ribs but two other people in my party was also disappointed in their meals. One had the filet mignon and the other had the grouper. The filet mignon was slightly over cooked, dry and flavorless. The grouper could've used a complete flavor makeover. It had no flare whatsoever. I wish this was a better experience. We spent some time laughing hysterically in disbelief that we just spent nearly $200 on food we didn't even enjoy. My brother in law joked that we should've asked the hostess if she knew where we could get a "good steak." Oh well... it happens. read more

It "ain't" cheap there but wow was it spot on delicious. The service and the staff were a notch above regular naples. Total pros. I had the Chilean sea bass with king crab and lobster my wife had the wagu beef. Also they had a special cocktail called the angry leprechaun really delicious and unique. We also had side dishes, creamed spinach, onion rings and string beans. We were with another couple who were equally pleased. We are definitely headed back. It was simply perfect 100% score and even thought it was very expensive it was worth the value. Total satisfaction. Wish i could give the experience and additional star!! read more

My experience here was terrific. I love the atmosphere here, the service and the food even more so. I throughly enjoy a good steak and this one was cooked to perfection, just the way I like it. The onion rings atop of it were decadent and added the perfect balance of flavor. I am a HUGE potato fan and these loaded mashed potatoes were the best cheesey, flavorful treat I've had in a long time. Will definitely be coming back here! It's been about 10 years since our last visit. We weren't disappointed. Cool big city steak house vibe. Noisy but not over the top. Super busy on a Friday night that we visited. Reservations only for sure or you weren't getting in. We started with cocktails at the bar as our table wasn't ready as we arrived a little early. The bar staff was swamped but asked us right away what we would like to drink while we waited. Standing room only at the bar but that was OK because promptly right at our reservation time the friendly hostess came to seat us at our table. We were quickly greeted by a service person who asked us what type of water we would prefer. Soon after our very excellent and personable server Julianne stopped by to talk about the menus and specials of the evening. We can't say enough about Julianne she was the best. A local Naples resident for many years she gave us all kinds of insider local info that we wouldn't know about even after vacationing here for over twenty years. Now we spend a fair share of the winter and spring months here but still appreciated her local recommendations. The menu at Chops has truly something for everyone but they definitely specialize in beef. All grades and cuts. If you can't find the type of steak you like here, you can't find it. Our meals were for one filet and the special rack of lamb. Both prepared to perfection. Salads are split-able and so are the very tempting desserts. We shared the four small scoop multi flavor sundae. Yum. This restaurant group has other places like Pazzo next door that are also perfect examples of what to do right in the restaurant Industry! Brought my mother in law here for Mother's Day because she loves the atmosphere of 5th Avenue, will absolutely not go here again because there is another Chops location so close nearby that gives you so much more for your money. The food at Chops in Bonita is just as good & when you order a steak they give you a side of your choice. Since they don't give you a side at this location, I assumed they would be bigger portions considering you had to pay. When I asked the waitress if a $10 side of au gratin potatoes was big enough to share she said "absolutely", when I tell you the side of potatoes consisted of a half of potato I'm not exaggerating. For $10 a side the portions are absolutely disgusting, especially considering the same restaurant at a different location gives you the same thing for free. Will not be back. read more

The only disadvantage is there is not a TV at the bar( the owner must not watch sports). How does an entire table of glassware so dirty that when you sat down you needed to send it back (lipstick- yuck!), and a booth tabletop that smelled like the smelly, moldy dish rag your mother wiped your mouth with, so you (reluctantly--because it's date night) changed tables; and to cap it off, your $68 medium rare ribeye was so raw you sent it back? Oh no, wait, add the manager who could only muster corporate-speak "sorry you feel this way" responses (an interesting exception was when I showed him the raw meat and asked him-- would you eat this? He simply didn't answer. He did agree to discount my meal-- ugh, so what! Wish I'd read the reviews beforehand as the under-cooked food and lousy manager were mentioned a couple of times. We were looking forward to this very much., we got to the restaurant and the thought we had a party of 4, the server seem to be disappointed. The service through the meal was very average to below, waiting for refill on water ect.. also when taking our order he was definitely not focused on us as he was looking around as we were ordering. The food was ok, not amazing , at the prices I think I should be amazed. We have some beautiful amazing restaurants in Seattle that will treat you like your the most important customer with the most highest quality grade steaks. First visit here tonight, and it was a good meal and good service in a great location. Our group had reservations for 5pm on a busy Saturday night to take advantage of the "Wine and Dine" menu (it's basically same menu as always, but priced about 20% lower and includes a house or Caesar Salad - but orders must be placed by 5:30pm or the computer automatically switches over to full price.) I had the Organic Roasted Chicken which comes with Root Vegetables and Stuffed Baked Potato. I subbed the root veggies for brussel sprouts. All was very good for $24.50. Warm bread is served with some sort of butter/dipping concoction; again, very good. I asked for a glass of red sangria, which was not on menu, but our server had one prepared and it turned out good. Chops has been our favorite go-to restaurant on 5th Avenue for a dozen+ years. We never miss coming to dinner here every time we come to the area to stay, I have made supporting online reviews in the past to uphold this. However, we had an experience last night that I'm still trying to process. Before anything, I'd like to mention that our server, Angela, was amazing. For the first time in our experience here, our steak was overdone (the cooking temperature is usually spot-on, every single time). But no worries, our server had told us it could be re-done, no problem at all of course. But then the manager, John, came to our table to comment. He was snide, rude and, quite frankly, embarrassing as he attracted the attention of the tables dining all around us. Several staff members that also overheard expressed to us that this is not an unusual interaction between John and guests. The treatment we received by this manager was beyond unprofessional and is shocking for Chops and what we expect as far as decency and hospitality. The other staff members that were aware of the situation repeatedly apologized for John's behavior, and that is just quite sad and a terrible look for Chops. One of our friends was dining with us last night who is also a true Chops fan and summed it up best: That manager, in one evening, ruined our favorite restaurant. (P.S.: Please bring back Matt to manage) EDIT: I have recently changed my review to a four star, as we've always loved this restaurant. Chris, the corporate manager, reached out and could not have been more kind and accommodating to try and rectify the behavior of his restaurant manager. Chops City Grill nearly ruined our Christmas Eve. We booked a reservation well in advance for dinner on December 24. When we arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation @6:35 PM, we were shocked to see about 30 customers waiting in line out the front door and down the sidewalk to check in. You couldn't even get in the door to check in for a table. No manager was in sight, just a young hostess who said "we're backed up." We had this same experience in February 2020 with Chops and hadn't been back since. We gave them a try a few weeks ago and we were seated timely. I guess they couldn't resist overbooking for Christmas Eve. We cancelled and went to another fine dining place on Christmas Eve. Too bad for Chops; we enjoy fine dining all the time but will never go there again. My advice- stop overbooking. It ruins your reputation. You're in denial. You overbooked. read more

Fake steakhouse! The food and service were terrible, I would never go back or recommend this restaurant. I ordered a filet mignon at medium temperature and it was charred on the outside. The meat had no flavor whatsoever! Dessert options were very limited. Our server disappeared and was inattentive during our meal. We poured our own wine throughout dinner. This might all be ok if we weren't spending $250. What a waste!! To add insult to injury. they brought us a complimentary dessert- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream with a dab of whipped cream- not even a dessert off the menu! You're better off going to Ocean Prime down there street. We ate there the night before and food and service were excellent. Same price point. Hands down, the best meal of our trip! We made a reservation same day. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed and had quite a crowd waiting for a table. We were seated about 10 minutes after our reservation time. Our server was outstanding. BJ had a beer and I had a cosmo. We shared a chopped classic wedge, which as an amazing salad. It was a mold of baby iceberg, blue cheese, applewood smoked bacon, tomato, candied walnuts and micro cress. So fresh and delicious. We both had petite filets. For my side, I got the roasted butternut squash. This side dish was perfect. BJ got the sea salt baked potato with bacon and chives. Everything was perfect cooked and delicious! For dessert, we shared a cheesecake that was served with berries. So, good. Love this restaurant. read more

We plan our Anniversary and Birthday's all at once, for this weekend. So we plans to go to Naples. We were all set with dinner reservation at Ocean Prime but our hotel stated that Chops was way better. So we took a chance and cancel Ocean Prine reservation and headed to Chops. We arrive at Chops, we share our story with the host and basically was ignore and place on a table at the front of Chops. We were so hungry.  So we brush it off and order the 24 oz Portable House. We ask for the steak to be Med Well. When it came out, my wife cut the steak and served me. The steak was burnt on the edges. When I share this with the visiting mananger Nick. He rebuttal z "that is how the meat is cook, here". My wife and I force ourselves to eat this steak. We just wanted to pay our bill and go to our hotels. They 'Attempted to charm us with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream with whip cream and sprinkles". We start eating this dessert and a hair was in the ice cream. That was so grouse, I shared these concerns with a passing server. The manger again Nick came to us with no plan or an proactive appraoch for a solutuon. We have eaten all over the world and never have had such bad service. THIS BY FAR IS THE WORSE STEAK HOUSE WE HAVE EVER BEEN. The manager Nick responded to us by offering us a free expresso. Wow this guy has no clue on hospitality management We paid almost $200 and the whole expereinces was really work $40. Shame on Chops for ruining our Naples Weekend. I've been here several times and it's always excellent. The restaurant is beautiful--very nicely appointed. The service is first rate and very attentive. On the most recent visit we had shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and it was just what you asked for--large and crisp shrimp. My friend had the snake river filet--just outstanding. I ordered the 20 oz NY strip--frankly, the meat was very tough-I need a saw to cut it--and hence the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. That said, I sent it back and the staff couldn't have been nicer about it. They replaced it with the snake river filet which-again-was superb! In a sea of solid restaurants for both locals and tourists, this downtown Naples steakhouse seems to be a staple for locals and snowbirds alike. It was packed on a December Friday evening and the crowd was a diverse mix of retirees, vacationers, local families and business types dressed in suits. And there were several couples just like my husband and I enjoying a date night out. The bar is nice and offers a good selection of spirits and cocktails. The bar tender made a couple of mean vodka in and out martinis extra blue cheese stuffed olives-bingo-my kind of place! We were seated at a booth near the kitchen which wasn't ideal but the upside was a very attentive waiter. He was a bit on the exuberant side but very conversational and good looking...but most importantly his recommendations were spot on. He suggested the Belle Clos Clark and Telephone Pinot Noir which was sensational. It was decanted and drank beautifully. We started with the raw bar appetizer orange naraigi and the steakhouse Caesar, both excellent. I had the fillet paired with sautéed spinach. Hubby had the grilled Hawaiian tuna with two different sauces and the jalapeño cheese gratin which was beyond decadent. Not one misstep in terms of the preparation and presentation. My husband ordered a surprise dessert for me and the waiter selected the trio of Creme brûlée. I am usually not a fan of this very popular dessert but the three mini ramekins of these torched custards were exquisite. You'll run up a tab quickly here and the service may be hit or miss but the food and buzzy atmosphere are worth it. Definitely one of the better meals we have enjoyed in Naples where the dining options are plentiful and the competition to stay current and deliver high quality is fierce. My one annoyance is you spend over 200 for two people (the wine were choices) but to charge $3 for a thimble of steak sauce drives me crazy.
