I tried the Korean BBQ pizza which was really good. They had a special pizza...The Baked Potato. So happy they offer slices to try. This was pretty tastey with the seasoned potatoes on it. I particularly appreciated that they did not over potato the slice lol. The best part about the pizza in general is that the crust is light and soft. I usually prefer heavy cheese on my pizza but their was just right. I tried the Son of a B*t@# I'm In cocktail that is on happy hour for $10. The simple yet clean ingredients caught my eye...gin, aperol, elderflower, lime l, and honey made for a very refreshing drink. Also, I've been on a kick to enjoy cocktails with no ice, so this was perfect.

Turns out it was "Area 51: synth/indus/ebm/goth night. Karaoke is Sunday, Monday and Friday nights. They have other nights too like game night, open jam, weird Wednesdays and even a comedy show maybe every month! There is no getting around that RIPS is a true dive bar with some definite characters!! I enjoyed listening to some dark music and even found myself dancing! The DJ was great. Tatum the bartender came over and took our order, not very friendly but it was decently busy so no biggie, she checked all of our ID's and brought over the first round of drinks. Our actual waitress then comes over and we try to order another round of drinks when she then asked if she could see our ID's to verify and we all gladly gave her the ID's and this is when things go bad. The waitress took our ID's to scan because she wasn't confident that they were real, we agreed but we look over and she's searching in a book and going online to verify if our ID's were real and at that point it had been about 10-15 minutes of her analyzing the ID's and we just told them to cancel our last round and we will just pay the bill and go because we could tell her concern wasn't to find out if they were real but to prove they were fake. Being a neighboring state to Arizona and working a bar you would assume they have experience with California ID's. After everything she tells us we can no longer be served insinuating that our ID's were fake. Not a single other table around us even got their ID checked. And as we looked around we were the only ones who were of color and no one else in that bar were being bothered with their ID's. As I asked for our ID's back and for the bill Tatum gave me plenty of attitude and didn't bother to tell our waitress our request to cancel the order and return our ID's. After everything we were told we could no longer be served because after all that time waiting her scanner randomly didn't want to work. So a bars ID scanner does not work, a light wasn't used to verify the ID and with the use of the internet and book she still couldn't verify our ID's. After everything no manager was called, no reasoning was given to us on why she thought the ID's weren't real and we were told we couldn't be there even after they had served us alcohol. So if our ID's were so suspicious why serve us the alcohol to begin with. If foul play was being done which wasn't on our end it was already done on their end.

And when they tell you no, do not ask again. That being said, do not expect white glove, highly attentive service. The service is good enough, and that's all that matters. AGAIN, when you understand the expectations, this can be a fun and highly enjoyable experience, but you have to understand where you are and what it is. Regarding the food, incredible. I stick with the wine burger and the wings with the secret sauce. Absolutely amazing food and the prices are stupid cheap. I'm completely serious when I say this is easily one of the best burgers in Phoenix. The burger is done right, and I really appreciate it. The wine burger kind of melts in your mouth and the portions are huge. Be nice, be observant, tip heavy, temper your service/timing expectations, and you'll enjoy a true local Phoenix spot. Unfortunate that we didnt get to try your yummy looking burgers but I did not feel safe in this establishment.
