I don't understand the hype for this place bc the food is awful and expensive. I've placed two to go orders here and both were not up to standard. The first I ordered a bunch of appetizers to watch the games and the pretzel bites were so burnt you couldn't even eat them. I called to let them know and asked for another and they wanted to charge me. Despite this I thought I'd give them one more chance and ordered their chopped salad which came in styrofoam with no dressing. Me and my wife's first time visiting, and last time visiting. We went on a Tuesday night so mind you that it wasn't very crowded, it was pretty much empty. After we were sat, our server didn't come to our table until about 20 minutes later. That was the first red flag to us, so we didn't even bother ordering appetizers, we just put in our entree order straight away. We did not see our server since. Did not come to check up, refill drinks, etc. Our food wasn't even served by her, yet I saw her walking around the restaurant and running back and forth talking to employees here and on the other side at khaos. The only time she checked up on us was to take our order and to close our tab. Food was mediocre. So if you consider going to chop'd and end up with a server named Jade, she will just abandon you the whole time! Such a wasted and highly disappointed, we will not be back. read more

Went here with my husband, we got here by 9:58p and was told the bar would be closing soon. The Caucasian lady with black hair in black shirt cleaning the drink glasses on 8/25/22 was so rude, and seemed visibly annoyed that we walked in. Zero customers service. You can politely tell your customers that you are closing soon without being rude and unprofessional. Immediately we left she came right behind us and flicked the "open" sign off it was 10:05p. It's not often that I venture out to Plainfield to try a new restaurant, especially now that we're limited to takeout, but the Chop'd menu was so incredibly delicious sounding that we made the trek, and I'm SO happy we did. We started with the pretzel crab bread. Okay come on, what could be better than a delicious chewy, soft pretzel, stuffed with lump crab meat, seasoned with the classic old bay seasoning, topped with cheese, and served with a sweet mustard sauce?! Not a whole lot. This was an amazing appetizer and got us excited for the rest of our meal. My husband also got the whipped ricotta and honey, which I thought was silly until I saw him slathering crusty bread with with the most beautiful creamy, cheesy concoction, and then I was immediately jealous. We pressed on to the Chop'd burger with bacon and onion jam, blue cheese, and mixed greens. I don't love onion (okay fine I hate onion) but suddenly a jam of onion and bacon served atop a burger made me a fan. This burger was delicious! We also got the Steak Umm, which was everything you want in a steak sandwich. Thin sliced beef, mushrooms, gruyere cheese. It was paradise. I got it with no onions because, well, see above, but I'm sure if you're an onion fan, you'd love them here, too. Great food! 10/10 But unfortunately I wouldn't book an event here again. I had my baby shower here and was pretty upset when I arrived to set up at the scheduled time and nobody knew we were coming.... Nothing was set up on the patio (which was pre-planned) the tables were still wet from the night before, ketchup bottles etc were still out. Not to mention the open flames that occurred when they turned on the outdoor heaters due to a birds nest. The two servers worked their assess off to hurry and set up and make sure it was put together in just the Knick of time. The manager didn't even show his face, to apologize or attempt to smooth the situation over. Love the owners and menu. We have been here for dining in as well as take out during these Covid days. Lots of room inside for social distancing and great outdoor seating as well. The food is some of the best pub food we've had. Al the burgers are huge and always cooked perfectly with lots of options. The pretzel and crab dip is unique appetizer and have to see they have one of the BEST Reuben sandwiches I've ever eaten. We really like this place, good food and service, and a nice space (especially their patio). However, tonight (Thursday) we were there with a party of 16, and oddly they were out of pork chops (when does that ever happen?), and their signature keg root beer. Again, this is on a Thursday!!! I hope they are not facing management or other issues and on a slow decline. My fingers are crossed this was just a one-off. read more

We were a party of 15 to celebrate our grandson's 14th birthday. Our meals and drinks were excellent. Our waitress Maria was very attentive and split our check for each party. Unfortunately we left a gift on our table which my grandson made for his brother in school. He had spent 3 weeks of class time to make a rose out of clay which he painted. He was very sad to think it was lost. The next day my daughter called to see it was there but they were unable to find it. When Maria found out she searched thru the dumpster and found it and washed it! They called to let us know we could pick it up. She certainly went over and above and her efforts are very appreciated. Spent last night hopping around Plainfield for appetizers and cocktails and stumbled upon this place late at night . Immediately impressed with the ambience and their bourbon/whiskey selection. Had their standard old fashioned while my date had a maple pecan old fashioned that were both excellent. The whole menu looked great but since we had apps at other places we barely could finish our Waygu meatballs which were amazing. The service was excellent, the bartender Katie was very energetic and showed great passion in her work. I will definitely be back and I'll be sure to make it my first stop of the evening next time instead of the last. read more

I came back about a year later. I will give it 5 stars with an asterisk. The food is hit or miss. Some items are the best I've ever had and some items I wouldn't finish. The filet sliders are AMAZING. The Mac and cheese is a no for me. The service is always great, the tables are unique, you get to watch TVs everywhere. it was pretty busy when we got here but we got sat after about 10 minutes which was true to how long their wait was. we were able to order drinks and food less than 5 minutes after we sat down which was really great. i got the bone in wings with the elote sauce and cajun dry rub and they were soooo good, best wings i've had in a long time. i also tried their white gummy bear martini and it was delicious, definitely recommend! overall, even though it was busy, we were attended to and checked up on consistently. i'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their cocktails! read more

Great outdoor seating plus it looks like the inside is set up for social distance seating. We came for some appetizers. The bbq wing sauce was just ok flavor and really thick. Also had the crab pretzel, wish it was hotter and more melted. Could have used a few more minutes under the broiler. Loved the mustard sauce that came with it for dipping. It's a nice place and they had a lot of people getting take out. The burgers looked really good. Will try that next time. read more

Four months ago, we walked out of Chop'd in Plainfield when not one server came to our table when we were seated. We had eaten there before and always liked the food. Well, we decided to give them a break until a couple of weeks ago. They had a dueling piano even at 8 pm but we went very early giving us plenty of time to eat. We saw a few people seated at the booths but were surprised when they sat us in the patio area which is on concrete. The tables were rickety and needed replacement, they looked like they had burn marks melted into them and the slats were popping out. One of the chairs looked like if someone sat on it, it would break too. The fans were so strong, our beer menu kept blowing away. And to add to the storage facility feel, the big closed bar had the bar stools standing upside down on the table top. Food and service were decent at least, though my elote salad didn't have a lot of corn on it (and I have had it before). We saw one couple leave before they got their food, I doubt they paid. When we left, the main restaurant was empty and staff were staring at the booths, meanwhile people were at the door waiting to get a table under the tent. My husband heard a family asking if they could get a booth and were told no. I understand they had a paying event but it started at 8! It was 5 when we left. Either close for the night or let people sit IN the place until a reasonable time. And what would stop me if I were dining at 8 and decided to use the bathroom and hang around to watch the show? I did contact the restaurant but did not hear anything back from them, otherwise I would have posted this right after the event. I wanted to give them time to answer. So food is pretty decent, some dishes are pretty good, some just okay, but I think we won't give them another chance. read more

The food was presented very nicely. It had flavor not usually found in restaurant dishes. A little on pricey side but was worth it.

We just left Chop'd. The food was okay. I wanted to have a steak, bottle of wine, a couple cocktails etc.. Unfortunately they had a dirty bar top, disgusting paper menus. Even the drink menu was full of stains. Some guy from the kitchen came behind the bar and further solidified my plan to go with a couple appetizer instead. Later the same guy joined the other managers at the bar with their laptops. Not once did I see a manager walk around to help his under staffed employees. With all this we were lucky enough to have Jade taking care of us. I saw her bussing tables, picking up glass from the dining area, helping customers and she was the only bartender with no bar back. Jade is truly Chop'd 's superstar employee. You can find her closing Tuesday nights and opening Wednesday mornings. I recommend you sit with her at the bar. The managers need to be a bit more hands on when people call off or you are understaffed. read more

Another enjoyable dinner at Chop'd last evening as always! Brought friends along and they absolutely loved the food. We've been raving about it and they finally were able to experience what we've been talking about. I'm always impressed to see the camaraderie among servers. Manager, Jason has an extraordinary work ethic. Does whatever is needed, from clearing tables to sweeping. This is refreshing to see, sets a great example and speaks volumes-he's part of a great team and nothing is beneath him. Clearly exhibits how things can work well when people work together. Our server, Jillian equally amazing! They've got a great thing going with the outstanding food choices-literally everything on the menu is fantastic. I've eaten here loads of times and am starting to recognize the steady decline in their service, food, and prices. I took my mother to the mother's day brunch and I probably would've been better off making her a box of pancakes from walmart. The food was cold, I had to wipe a spiderweb off my plate, the drinks were expensive and not included, and the brunch overall was poorly organized and messy. Our waitress was nice, but asked us multiple times if we wanted our check causing us to feel rushed when we weren't there very long at all. The table we were sat at wasn't clean and was closely crammed together with all of the other upstairs tables to the point that i had to practically be pressed against the table. I am a big fan of Reuben sandwiches and usually will pick that at a new place if it's on the menu and though most are pretty similar, Chop'd is head and shoulders above the rest because they have delicious bacon bits in their kraut and it MAKES this sandwich!
