I really recommend joining the waitlist as this place gets really packed! As we were seated, the staff told us to order on the iPad and that drinks were all included, but you have to go get it yourselves, which is in the back of the restaurant in the fridge next to the sauce bar. The food came out pretty fast. We ran out of places to put the food! SO MUCH SEAFOOD! It's nonstop food! The staff was very attentive; once there was an empty plate, they took it away. Treated friends to dinner here to celebrate their recent marriage, and I'm kinda glad they chose this place. I was only familiar with the Edison location and didn't realize there was a much closer one that didn't require a ridiculously long road trip. True to its nautical name, Chong Qing offers some killer seafood-centered fare. You can pretty pick from all the fruits de mer for your hot pot, but I want to take a moment to praise the apps: We got some delicious raw clams, crabs and shrimp marinated in a delectable sweet and savory soy/garlic-based sauce. It was so good, I nearly lapped up my plate like a hungry dog. And you better believe I smashed that re-order button, considering it was AYCE! Their sashimi--a la Arctic Surf Clams and other chewy pieces of the crustacean variety--were also fresh and succulent. We even got complimentary Australian lobster tail (to boil in our hot pot), which was definitely a win. All in all, the pescatarian in me was doing happy mermaid dances by the end of our meal. And the cherry on top? Or should I say durio? AYCE durian. 2nd time coming here. Last time was about 1 year ago and I think the experience and the food quality got better! Went on Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of seating available. Because there wasn't a lot of ppl to tend to, the staff took care of us really well and the food came out SO FAST. Got the chicken and fish maw soup base as well as the tomato soup base. Both highly recommended!! When you start running out of soup base in the middle of your meal, the staff should refill your pot with the same soup base. For the chicken fish maw, it was always refilled with the same broth. But for the tomato broth though, it was a bit inconsistent... They refilled it once with tomato broth and then 2x they refilled it with a clear broth. Didn't bother us too much though so we didn't say anything. There were also a lot of promotions going on: 1) If you pay by cash, you get 1 free LAANKEE beverage per person! AND you get AYCE free dessert from their menu (dessert usually is extra $$). 2) If you post on social media, you get free Australian lobster. The Australian lobster was so good and meaty! Super worth it imo. AYCdrink from their 2 fridges. Not all drink are in both fridges, so check out both! Pro tip: there are thin plastic straws on the sides of the fridge to poke through the foil of the soy milk drinks! This AYCE hot pot experience is fantastic if you order all of their expensive items and come with an empty stomach. The AYCE lasts two hours and is $64 per person, but it's a minimum of two people per party. The service is fantastic and someone will come around to check periodically to see if you want to order more food. The broth selections are pretty unique compared to other hot pot spots I've been to. Loved various fresh ingredients they have available. They do offer you to choose one of the five premium ingredients, which I think the lobster or the geoduck is the way to go. So many seafood options, to consume raw and to be cooked in the hotpot. I really liked the variety and amount of seafood offered, but the broth was lacking flavor. Side notes: Happy July 4th. I requested Chinese to be added to the listing to match Haidilao/etc. Also, if you pay cash, you get a free fruit tea. 2 people minimum per table. Anyway, I was at this hot pot place earlier in the evening with 3 others. It was quite crowded as I've heard and it took us maybe 20 minutes or so to get seated. The buffet outside of kids based on height costs $62.99 per person which sounds like it's a bit pricey but for the quality of the food, I think it's more than worth it. I would also like to give a shoutout to the servers here compared to every other AYCE hot pot I've been to. They answer questions regarding how long some stuff should be cooked, provided more utensils and other things when needed, and cleaned up things very quickly. This made the experience already better regardless of the excellent food quality. For the hot pot, the area is big enough for two broth options and we went with the Coconut and Chicken one which had some Chinese herbs and jujube inside along with a Tom Yum broth with the latter being my preference with a bit of spice along with some sourness and sweetness but both of them were tasty in their own right though maybe a bit less flavored than some other spots. Outside of these options, there is a spicy green peppercorn pot (for the full Chongqing mala experience,) a Chinese medicinal herb one, a mushroom one, a spicy butter one, and I believe one with fish bladder and chicken or something somewhere. The sauce bar had all the staples though some of the labels weren't that legible and I created a mix with chili crisp, fermented tofu/doufurou, shacha sauce, scallion oil, sesame oil, some more chili powder, and garlic. Along with the options, there's also free drinks and I picked up a Chinese herbal tea and eventually a soy milk eventually. For the stuff not cooked in the hot pot, the sashimi was surprisingly good quality. The salmon was excellent with large flavorful pieces, the mini shrimp/amaebi were very tasty, and the other people enjoyed the octopus. The raw crab was very tasty, the skewers were fine with the tofu pocket being the best, the jellyfish salad was fine (could have used more sesame,) and the raw oysters were good. For the barely cooked/pre-prepared options, the tendon was delicious and was very quickly cooked in 10 seconds or so. There was also braised quail eggs which were nice. The fishball and meatballs were both very nice with the most unique and tasty option being the dragon fruit fishball which added an extra bite of sweetness. I am presuming there was shrimp and some type of fish outside of said fishballs and we liked them both. The meatballs were nice and bouncy once cooked. For hotpot meat options, everything was tasty though I would say the seafood is a bit better. The pork belly and beef were all nice and thinly cut so they cooked quickly with the only one I didn't like being the tongue as it was a bit too chewy as I think it was cut thicker. The flavored beef was probably the star being thicker but also being very tender. The boneless chicken feet had a fun texture as well and cooked nicely in said hotpot. The star is of course the seafood from unlimited abalone (how,) and conch to a variety of shrimp ranging from large ones to mantis to small ones which were all fresh and tasty. There was also some excellent crab legs with plenty of meat though they were a bit harder to open with the provided nutcrackers helping a lot. You are also given an option for one larger plate and we chose the lobster over the geoduck or sushi/sashimi platter (there was also a fourth option but I don't remember. The lobster we ordered was delicious with it being partially cracked which was appreciated of course as it made it easy to eat meat from the tougher to get to areas. Along with everything else mentioned, they have unlimited durian which is an unexpected delicious addition here. It's frozen of course and the durian is monthong and not musang king but for included durian, I have no complaints at all. I would recommend as the server said also to order them maybe 15 minutes before you plan on eating them so that they fully frost and get a better texture. There's also other desserts that you can order separately for extra and if you pay with cash, you can get a free fruit tea with a wide variety of flavors. Yes the price point is high but it's very much worth it. I'm usually not the biggest hot pot person but places like this might convert me to going to them more. I'm sorry to say thought that as soon as I was leaving the place I had to rush home cause something posoined me(same happened to my friend)and so I guess I don't have to write were we spent the rest of the night. Came on a weekday around 630pm, need to add yourself to a waitlist if it gets busy, and they text u back when the table is ready. Overall, there is a huge list of food you can order. There's ready to eat food like chicken wings, snails, sashimi, jellyfish, etc. They were decent tasting. There's also a long list of raw food to cook in the pot including snowcrabs, different types of shrimp, different cuts of beef, etc. In terms of variety, this place definitely takes the cake, compared to other hot pot places. Drinks like soda, Wong lo Kat, soy milk, bottled water were also included in the price. The hotpot is a communal pot, not individual pots. And this is why I wasn't too crazy about it. The only thing that costs extra is their special desserts which is not worth getting in my opinion. Small cups of Hershey's ice cream is included at the end of the meal at no additional cost. When you first order, you will be given the option of a few special items (also included with the meal). The specials offered to us were lobster, sea cucumber, or a sashimi platter. Each table is allowed to select one special item. We selected the sashimi platter. Everything was very fresh and delicious. There are so many different soup bases to choose from. The best soup base here is the chicken and fish maw soup. Other unique soup bases offered include coconut chicken, medicinal, pork bone, and satay. There are about 10 different soup bases to choose from. The wide variety of hot pot items included in the meal are meats (beef, lamb, pork, chicken), seafood (crab, clam, crab legs, shrimp, oyster), fishballs, handmade shrimp paste, tofu, vegetables, cold and hot appetizers, noodles, rice cakes, and so much more. They offer a lot of unique seafood that you usually don't find in hot pot restaurants, including mantis prawns and live shrimp. There are a few refrigerators well stocked with a variety of beverages, including water, soda, soy milk, Snapple, and other Asian beverages. Next to the sauce bar is also fresh fruit, including strawberries, melon, and lychees. Service: Service is excellent! I was sad there were many things I could not eat (not their fault, but it was the reason why the price was not exactly worth it for me) but I really enjoyed my visit. Wanted to try those AYCE hot pot spot for a while now. Not your typical AYCE hot pot though... if you're a seafood lover, this is for you, because this place offers you AYCE seafood beyond the typical hot pot spot. The wait for this restaurant was ridiculous when it first opened but the hype has definitely died down. Came here on a Saturday evening around 5:30pm and there was no wait. Tip: You can join the waitlist online before arriving in case there is a long wait so you don't stand around waiting for hours. They will text/call you when your table is ready and usually give a 10-15min grace period. After that grace period, they cancel your table and you will have to join the waitlist again. Upon entering, the interior design of the restaurant is pretty modern and looks clean. For menus, you scan a QR code on your phone. However, you still need to order with the servers. If you tell the server you're paying with cash, you get free special drink (plum tea), dessert, and a choice of lobster or sashimi special. Menu is pretty extensive. All the seafood you can possibly imagine - clams, mantis shrimp, Bombay fish, arctic surf clam, and fresh live shrimp, and so much more! Menu also offer appetizers, sashimi, and a variety of different cuts of meats you don't get from a regular hot pot place. In other words, this place offers more than just basic fatty beef, pork, and lamb slices. Drinks are also included and unlimited and you can grab from the fridge. The variety isn't extensive -- the usual soda, herbal tea, soy milk, Snapple -- but it's included so it's all good. Make sure to grab from the back because the drinks in the front of the fridge weren't cold at all. Sauce bar was pretty messy and definitely needed some tidying up. Some of the labels seem misplaced too. There's also fruits in the sauce bar area but to be honest, it didn't looked sanitary. The staff here are all pretty young -- they look like high schoolers, but they offer pretty good service. Overall, the meal came out to be about $75 per person after tax and tips. Definitely more pricey than the usual hot pot spot but you are paying for more variety. Seafood is not cheap so I think this place is definitely worth a try at least once. read more
